Task 1 – Pre-production: Research & Planning Blog Teacher comments:

Goodwin
Y A brief essay analysing ‘Kerala’. You could add more of Goodwin’s theory.
Talk through the 6 parts and 5 ways to analyse a music video to look deeper
into the video. Some mention of Goodwin’s theory added, although brief.
2. Ideas visualisation feedback and initial ideas Y Good use of wordle to display peer feedback. However you need to add your
thoughts on feedback received. Do you agree with the suggestions? Will you
use any of them in your video? Some analysis added but brief.
3. Genre Research Y A good use of prezi to display research. You could add more images of
examples to make it more visual, check your spellings. Please add a citation
section – what websites did you get your info from? More images added and
some sources cited, not actual links.
4. Target Audience Y Good visual representation of your typical audience members, with clear
annotations including hobbies and positions of the ABC1 scale. What about
the 4C’s? Did you do any research to see what the audience expect to see
from a video in your genre? Where are your results? No improvements
made.
5. Digipak and advert analysis (2 of each) Y Quite brief analysis of the covers and posters. Think about the fonts and
images used, what do they tell us about the genre? Look at the images on
the James Blunt CD, what are they suggesting about ‘going back to
bedlam’? What about the use of colour on the George Ezra CD? Some
additional detail added.
6. Annotated lyrics Y Shows your initial ideas, could be more detailed in parts, rather than saying
it could show this, it might show this, try to be more specific. Some further
notes added.
7. Storyboards Y Well planned storyboards. However you have not added any shot types? Or
camera movements. Sound column is also mostly empty. Some shot types
and camera movements added. Sound still left blank.
8. Shot list Y Good detail, shows your idea well. Clear and concise.
9. Locations recce Y Good clear photos. However – this is not a recce, this is a series of photos.
Where are the explanations with what scenes will be filmed here, Why did
you choose these locations? Are there any risks? Shots now added with
some detail on choice and risk.
10. Floor plans Y Floor plans basic but complete. You could write a brief explanation for each
one saying which scenes will be filmed there and add a key. More detail
added with scenes also added.
11. Costume Y Costume choices mentions, needs to be explained fully with images added.
Images now added.
12. Actors Y Actor choices explained well with images.

2. 13. Props Y Prop choices explained briefly, more detail and images needed. Images now
added.
14. Production schedule including equipment Y Well split into 3 stages, good attention to detail. However you could split the
production process up into set days. Be more specific, what scenes will you
film when? Production schedule now updated in more detail.

This could be a proficient body of work once improved. Make sure labels are correct for all work.
