1. A2 Coursework – Media Texts
Name: HODD Nathan
Music Video
Footage:
Some good use of locations and mis-en-scene. Follows the lyrics of the song well
to show a clear and recognisable narrative. Might have benefited from more
threads to the narrative as some footage repetitive. Footage is mostly in focus and
shows steady use of the camera, some parts would have benefited from use of
steadycam or tripod.
Editing:
Video is mostly edited well to the beat. Good attempt at lip syncing throughout,
however, some sections are out of sync which is a shame.
Overall:
There is evidence of proficiency in the creative use of many of the technical skills.
Video is quite slow paced, could have benefited from more upbeat visuals. And
more threads to the narrative.
Ancillary Task 1: Digipak
The candidate is has demonstrated proficiency in the creative use of most of the
technical skills. Conventions have been used well to show this is a real media
product. Fonts and text match the style of the artist. Some shots have been
considered well, although it would have been nice to see more of the artist on the
inside pages. Proficient use of photoshop in colour grading front and back covers.
Ancillary Task 2: Poster
The candidate is has demonstrated basic ability in the creative use of some of the
technical skills. The main images shows links to the digipak, however the same
colour grading has not been used to show fuller links. This should be A4 for a
magazine advert, why have you chosen a square sized advert? Conventions
added well in the form of website and social media tabs – would have been good
to see these tabs colour matched to the rest of the piece.
