Game Title Assassins creed 4
Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting At the beginning of the scene you hear the sound of people running around and a
tone the gradually increases then suddenly stops back to the rustling then a loud
beat keeps thumping and the song kicks in when the fights starts
In the setting a lot of cannon fire and weapons
and clashing throughout this could have been
created through computer software or going out
and recording these types of sounds to be then
edited later on to fit with the era and setting
Mood The mood that the music put across I think is one of anticipation for a build up to a
fight scene in a bar and when the main character gets attack the mood changes to
one of anger and then when he escapes it changes to one of freedom on the open
sea
To create the mood of the scene a song was
implemented into the video to change the mood
throughout the scene this song would have been
created both in a studio with someone singing
and on a computer to get the echoing effects and
beat that is heard in the scene and to make the
mood correct for the video.
Game genre The games genre is action and free roam this is established by the large open spaces
and the ship battles that happen during the scene. The action is shown when to
ships collide and the music gets more intense and louder as the scene progresses
I think that the production techniques used to
convey the action segments is loud and sudden so
you can get a real feel of what is happening and
so it impacts the listener action elements like
sword and cannons go over the music so it shows
the action that is being played out.
Narrative The narrative of this scene is establishing the big open world of the Caribbean and
the conflict between the Spanish and pirates as they war for the rule of the ocean
the music shows the freedom of the open sea and the desperate times that both
pirates and nations had to go through to gain this freedom
The techniques used in the music are so that it fits
perfectly with the scene and to make you feel
what the story is about and I think that the
explosions and cannon fire would have been
edited to be the loudest parts to show conflict
and the people and at a decent level of sound
because it isn’t the most important aspect they
