Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish…
Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting
The setting is a post-apocalyptic environment where there is a war going on as I can
hear explosions and shooting between people, also the characters say it in the cut
scene. There are a few male and female characters also. These characters sound like
they‘re currently in a war between them and these creatures as you can hear one
off them explode and get shot by one off the characters.
I think that the production techniques used for
this cut scene is possibly a sound booth and a
clear microphone to create the sounds off the
alien screaming in pain at 0:06 and the sound off
the pistol firing at 0:29.
Mood
At the beginning there is the sound off shooting and an alien shouting to set the
mood, from 0:21 to 0:40 there is a lot of talking and a shot was fired making the
mood quite tense. At 1:41 the mood is quite joyful as the characters are making
cheerful jokes.
I think audio editing software has been used to
adjust to the pitch and volume, at 0:01 there is
guns being fired and at 1.48The sound changes to
helicopters flying away.
Game genre
Action/Adventure/RPG, The game genre sounds like it’s an action game because you
can hear an explosion and guns being fired and you can hear that there is a lot off
shouting and violence in the scene.
The voice over is clear and sound s like a quality
microphone was used for the voices off the
characters as they come across crisp and clear,
also with the aliens screaming.
Narrative
The narrative off this scene is the ending between a feud between human soldiers
and aliens, how the music conveys the aftermath (shooting, helicopters) the music
details the feeling that the feud is over and it’s the end.
The techniques off the music I think is that they
use a sound programme to use the pitch
adjustment on the song.
