Game Title Wolfenstein: The New Order
Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting The setting is in the past as you can hear world war sirens going off and a man was
commentating over it setting a tense mood. There is mainly a male character in the
cut scene but robotic noises and bullets being fired are played through the end of
the cut scene. The character sounds like he is currently talking about what the
happened and what these things did, and then we hear war screaming and shouting
and loud music making the scene tense and scary.
I think that the production techniques used for
this cut scene is possibly a sound booth; pitch
adjustment and a clear microphone to create the
sounds off the male character speak.
Mood At the beginning there is the sound of a man talking making the mood quite tense
then music is played in the background of tense music to set the mood, through the
man talking in the background there is adrenaline music making the mood quite
exciting. The mood changed at 1:30 when the music gets louder and what sounds
like war.
I think audio editing software has been used to
adjust to the pitch and volume, at 1:53 there is
the sound of a women laughing and at 1:32 the
sound off shouting.
Game genre Action/RPG, The game genre sounds like it’s an action game because you can hear
bullets being fired and war breaking out.
The voice over is clear and sound s like a quality
microphone was used for the voices off the
character and background voices as they come
across crisp and clear.
Narrative The narrative off this scene is a man commentating over the game on what
happened in the past and how they will change this. How the music conveys the
aftermath (Background Music) the music details the feeling in the place is at war
and giving you a scarce feeling
The techniques off the music I think are that they
use a sound programme to use the pitch
adjustment on the music in the background so it’s
quiet and able to hear the characters speak as
well as the all the bullets and robots.
