The setting of this cut scene is after Lara has endured so much and all she is
reflecting of her journey and the lessons that she has learnt. It is set as she is sailing
on the sea of into the sunset as she reflects on her journey she realises all the things
that she once doubted were but much more than just myths. It also lines the story
up so that the sequel can be made. The sound that they have chosen to go with this
scene is very fitting and there is nothing wrong with any of it. It all fits together
perfectly.
The mood is scared but is quite relaxed because she is sailing of looking at a sunset
which can't get much more relaxing. She also knows that she won't have to go
through that island again and that she is safe this adds the element of relief into the
scene which the sound shows very well.
The cut scene starts at 11:00 and ends at 12:35.
The cut scene starts with a voice over by Lara with
slow paced music in the background.
The music fits what is happening in the game very
well and makes you more intrigued to watch on.
As she is explaining things at 11:30 the music is
reacting to what she is saying.
The screen goes black for a few seconds but while
it is black at 11:39 you hear a group of seagulls
which already tells you were she is going to be
even before the scene shows anything.
Game genre
The game genre is an action/adventure. This is taken into account when they design
the music and the sounds for the game and all of its cut scenes.
Narrative
The narative is that Lara has just chased a crazed man up an acient temple in the
hope to rescue her friend. Whilst she is doing this she realises that one of her
adventure team that got stranded with her is betraying her for fame and wealth.
The music builds up again from nothing and it
builds up like the music from Jaws does as the
shark is about to strike. This puts you in a place
where anything could happen.
As the scene goes up to a conversation with Lara
and the sailor the music reaches its maximum
point because at this point she sets up that there
will be a new game and a new adventure.
