2. Sistem saraf
CNS terdiri dari otak dan
medula spinalis
PNS terdiri dari saraf cranial
yang berasal dari otak, dan
saraf spinal dr medula

3. Fungsi utama dari sistem saraf
1. Input sensori
Reseptor sensori memonitor beberapa stimulus internal dan
eksternal : sentuhan, suhu, rasa, penciuman, suara, tekanan
darah, pH darah dan cairan tubuh dan posisi tubuh
2. Integrasi
3. Aktifitas Mental
Otak merupakan pusat aktifitas mental, mencakup kesadaran,
berfikir, memori dan emosi
3. Mengontrol fungsi otot dan kelenjar
Otot skelet normalnya berkontraksi apabila dirangsang oleh
sistem saraf dan sistem saraf mengontrol gerakan utama
tubuh melalui kontrol otot skelet. Sistem saraf juga
mengontrol sekresi kelenjar endokrin

10. PENGORGANISASIAN SISTEM SARAF

2. Gerbang tertutup :
a. Ligand-gated ion channel
gerbangnya
a. Voltage-gated ion channel
• Terbuka oleh adanya perubahan voltase sepanjang membran
a. Other-gated ion channel
lain)
17. Ligand-gated ion

konsentrasi K lebih banyak di dalam

K+
akan bergerak ke dalam sel karena

Potensial membran istirahat tercipta
apabila pergerakan K keluar sel
seimbang dengan pergerakan K ke
dalam sel
20. Perubahan potensial membran istirahat
Potensial membran istirahat dapat dirubah dengan adanya
perubahan gradien konsentrasi ion K+
, adanya perubahan pada
permeabilitas membran terhadap K+
dan Na+
, dan adanya
perubahan konsentrasi ion Ca2+
ekstra sel
21. 1. K+
concentration gradient. Peningkatan konsentrasi K+
di ekstrasel
menyebabkan potensial membran istirahat kurang negatif ( depolarisasi
atau hiperpolarisasi). Menurunya konsentrasi K+
dalam ekstra sel
menyebabkan membran istirahat menjadi lebih negatif ( hiperpolarisasi).
2. K+
membrane permeability. Walaupun gerban ion K yang tdk tertutuo
memungkinkan ion K+
untuk melewati membran , potensial membran
istirahat tidak permeabel lagi pd ion K+
. Peningkatan permeabilitas
3. Na+
membrane permeability. Membran istirahat tidak terlalu permeabel
terhadap Na+
. Terbukanya gerbang Na+
dapat menyebabkan peningkatan
permeabilitas membran terhadap ion Na+
di dalam sel menjadi lebih
positif depolarisasi
4. Extracellular Ca2+
. Ion Ca2+
tertarik oleh muatan negatif dr membran
plasma termasuk gerbang Na tertutup , menyebabkan gerbang tertutup>
penurunan konsentrasi Ca2+
menyebabkan ion Ca2+
berdifusi keluar

sebaliknya
3. Membran plasma 50 – 100 kali lebih permeabel terhadap K+
dibandingkan ion bermuatan positif lainya seperti Na+
4. Membran plasma tdk permeabel terhadap molekul bermuatan negatif intra
sel seperti protein
5. K+
2. Ambang rangsang (Threshold) adalah suatu keadaan dimana potensial
membran terdepolarisasi cukup untuk menghasilkan potensial aksi.
3. Potensial aksi terjadi mengkuti hukum all or none, apabila stimulus sudah
28. “First” Resting Membrane Potential

29. Depolarization
Gerbang ion Na terbuka karena ada aktivasi . Gerbang K mulai terbuka. Terjadi
sel sehingga terjadi repolarisas
32. “Second” Resting Membrane Potentials
Potensial membran istirahat tercipta kembali setelah gerbang ion K tertutup
kembali.
33. KARAKTERISTIK POTENSIAL AKSI
1. Potensial aksi terbentuk apabila potensial setempat mencapai ambang
rangsang
2. Mengikuti hukum All – or – None
jumlah potensial aksi sifatnya konstan.
7. Stimulus yang kuat menentukan frekuensi potensial aksi
35. Masa refraktor
1. Periode Refraktorterjadi merupakan masa yang ditandai dengan
penurunan sensitifitas membran
2. Terdiri dari perode absolut dan relatif
5. Masa refraksi relatif mengikuti masa refrakter absolut.
37. Action Potential Frequency
1. The action potential frequency is the number of action potentials
produced per unit of time in response to a stimulus
2. The action potential frequency is directly proportional to stimulus
strength and to size of the local potential
3. A subthreshold stimulus is any stimulus not strong enough to produce a
local potential that reaches threshold no action potential is produced
4. A threshold stimulus produces a local potential that’s just strong enough
to reach threshold and cause the production of a single action potential
5. A maximal stimulus is just strong enough to produce a maximum
frequency of action potentials
6. A submaximal stimulus includes all stimuli between threshold and the
maximal stimulus strength
38. Hubungan kekuatan stimulus.
sinaptik
3. Ada dua macam sinap: Kimia dan listrik
43. Electrical synapse are gap junctions in which the plasma membrane
of two cells come close together and are joined by connexons. An
action potential is one cell can generate local currents (positively
charged ions) that flow through the connexons to stimulate an action

b. Membran postsinap mengandung reseptor untuk neurotransmiter
c. Celah sinap memisahkan membran presinaptik dan post sinaptik
dihentikan dg berbagai cara :
a. Neurotransmiter dihancurkan oleh enzim
b. Nuerotransmiter masuk ke dalam terminal presinaptik
c. Nuerotransmitter berdifusi ke luar dr celah sinapnaptic cleft
4. …………
45. 4. Setiap nuerotransmitter spesifik untuk setiap reseptornya
6. Depolarisasi membran post sinaptik disebabkan meningkatnya
permeabiliytas membran terhadap Na disebut Na+,
merupakan an
excitatory postsynaptic potential (EPSP)

The Nervous System
The CNS consists of the brain and spinal cord. The PNS consists of cranial nerves, which arise from the brain, and spinal nerves that arise from the spinal cord. The nerves, which are shown cut in the illustration, actually extend throughout the body
Divisions of the Nervous System
The nervous system has two anatomic divisions
The central nervous system (CNS) consists of the brain and spinal cord and is encased in bone
The peripheral nervous system (PNS), the nervous tissue outside of the CNS, consist of sensory receptors, nerves, ganglia, and plexus
The ONS has two divisions
The sensory division transmits action potentials to the CNS and usually consists of single neurons that have their cell bodies in the ganglia.
The motor division carries action potentials away from the CNS in cranial or spinal nerve
The motor division has two subdivisions
The somatic nervous system innervates skeletal muscle and is mostly under voluntary control. It consist of single neurons that have cell bodies located within the CNS
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) innervates cardiac muscle, smooth muscle, and glands. It has two set of neuron between the CNS and effector organs. The first set has its cell bodies within the CNS, and the second set has its cell bodies within the autonomic ganglia
The ANS subdivided into the sympathetic division, which prepare the body for activity, the parasympathetic division, which regulates resting functions, and the enteric nervous system, which controls the digestive system
The anatomic divisions perform different functions
The PNS detects stimuli and transmits information to and receives information from the CNS
The CNS processes, integrates, stores, and responds to information from the PNS
Cells of nervous System
The nervous system is made up of neurons and nonneural cells. Neurons receive stimuli and conduct action potentials. Nonneural cells are called Neuroglia or glial cells, and they support and protect neurons and perform other functions.
Neuron
Neurons, or nerve cells, receive stimuli and transmitt action potentials to other neurons or to effector organs. They ere organized to form complex network that perform the function of the nerves system. Each neuron consist of a cell body called neuron cell body or soma and two types of processes called axons that is referred to as nerve fibers and dendrite that branches into dendrites.
Like computers, human depend on electric signals to communicate and process information. The electric signals produced by cells are called action potentials. They are important means by which cells transfer information from one part of the body to another. For example, stimuli from specialized sensory receptors are conducted to spinal cord and brain. Action potentials originating within the the brain and spinal cord are conducted to muscles and certain glands to regulate their activities.
A basic knowledge of the electrical properties of cells is necessary for understanding many of the normal functions and pathologies of the body. These properties result from the ionic concentration differences across and from the permeability characteristic of the plasma membrane
The differences in K+ and Na+ concentration across the membrane are maintained primarily, through active transport, by sodium – potassium exchange pump.
The Sodium – Potassium Exchange Pump
Three Na+ and ATP bind to the carrier molecule
The ATP break down to ADP and phosphate and release energy. The carrier molecule change shape, and Na+ are transported across the membrane
Na+ diffuse away from the carrier molecule, two K+ bind to the carrier molecule, and the phosphate is released
The carrier molecule resumes original shape, transporting K+ across the membrane, and K+ diffuse away from the carrier molecule. The carrier molecule can again bind to Na+ and ATP
Permeability Characteristic of the Membrane
The plasma membrane is selectively permeable, thus allowing some, but not all, substances to pass through it. Negatively charged proteins are synthesized inside the cell, and because their large size and their solubility characteristics, they cannot readily diffuse across the plasma membrane. Negatively charged Cl- are repelled by negatively charged proteins and other negatively charged ions inside the cell. Cl- diffuse through the plasma membrane and accumulate outside it, resulting in a higher concentration of Cl- outside of the cell than inside.
Ions pass though the plasma membrane through ion channel. The two major types of ion channel are nongated and gated ion channels
In the picture:
The permeability of the membrane to K+ and Cl- is greater than its permeability to Na+ because some nongated K+ and Cl- channels are open, where as most gated Na+ channel are closed. The membrane is not permeable to negatively charged proteins inside of the cell because they are too large to pass through membrane channels.
Ligand-gated ion channel
A ligand is a molecule that binds to receptor. A receptor is a protein or glycoprotein that has a receptor site to which a ligand can bind. Most receptors are located in the plasma membrane. Ligand-gated ion channels open or close in response to a ligand binding to receptor
In the picture:
(a) The Na+ channel has a receptor sites for the ligand, acetylcholine. When the receptor site are not occupied by acetylcholine, the Na+ channel remains closed. (b) When two acetylcholine molecules bind to their receptor sites on the Na+ channel, the channel opens to allow Na+ to diffuse through the channel into the cell.
Resting Membrane Potential
Although unequal concentrations of ions exist in the intracellular and extracellular fluids, these fluid are nearly electrically neutral. That is, both intracellular and extracellular fluids have nearly equal numbers of positively and negatively charged ions. However, an unequal distribution of charge exists between the immediate inside and the immediate outside of the plasma membrane. These electric charge difference across the membrane, called a potential difference. By using voltmeter or oscilloscope, the potential difference is – 70 to – 90 mV. The potential difference is reported as a negative number, because in the inside of membrane is negative compared to the outside. The potential difference during resting condition is called the resting membrane potential.
Establishing the Resting Membrane Potential
The resting membrane potential results from the permeability characteristics of the resting plasma membrane and difference in concentration of ions between the intracellular and extracellular fluids. The plasma membrane is somewhat permeable to K+ because of nongated K+ channels. K+ easily to diffuse out of the cell that cannot be followed by the other, so, at the inside more negative. Because opposite charges attract, the K+ are attracted back toward the cell. K+ ions accumulate just outside of the membrane, making the outside of the membrane positive relative to the inside. Thus, the tendency for K+ to diffuse from a higher concentration inside the cell to a lower concentration outside the cell is opposed by the charge difference that develops across the membrane. The resting membrane potential is in equilibrium because the K+ the concentration gradient, which causes K+ to diffuse out of the cell, is equal to the potential difference across the plasma membrane, which oppose that movement
In the picture:
K+ diffuse out of the cell because there is a greater concentration of K+ inside the cell
K+ move into the cell because the positively charged ions are attracted to the negatively charged proteins and anions
The resting membrane potential is established when the movement ok K+ out of the cell is equal to their movement into the cell
Propagation of Action Potentials in an Unmyelinated Axon
Action potentials propagate in one direction along the axon
An action potential generate local currents that tend to depolarize the membrane immediately adjacent to the action potential
When depolarization caused by the local currents reaches threshold, a new action potential is produced
Action potential propagation occurs in one direction because the absolute refractory period of the previous action potential prevents generation of an action potential in the reverse direction
Saltatory conduction: Action potential propagation in a myelinated axon
An action potential at anode of Ranvier generates local currents. The local currents flow to the next node of Ranvier because the myelin sheath of the Schwann cell insulates the axon of the internode
When the depolarization caused by the local currents reaches threshold at the next node of Ranvier, a new action potential is produced
Actiion potential propagation is rapid in myelinated axons because the action potentials are produced at successive nodes of Ranvier (1 – 5) instead of at every part of the membrane along the axon
