Setting up equipment
• To make sure that my photo-shot goes to plan I needed to make sure
that all the equipment that I was going to use will work. So what I did
was I charged the camera battery before so I knew that the camera
would not run out in the middle of the shoot. I also took a few photos
before, this is so I can see that I had the right settings on the camera,
for when I took the real ones.
Pre-production Material
• In my pre production I designed a a graphic layout
and a hand drawn layout this was what I thought
would be the best layouts for my magazine however
after taking my pictures I think it might work better
in different layouts. However I will stick with a lot of
the ideas that I used in these layouts as I know that
that they work well with my target audience so I will
use my graphic layout and hand drawn layout as
templates.

This step will

because this
needs to be

might be
spelling errors,

Background
For the background the tools I used where:
Paint bucket
Gradient tool
Paint brush
For the background I started by just putting in a basic shade of
red and then of the gradient. Then with the paint brush tool I
put on a weak brush to blend in the two colours.
The reason that I have chosen to do these colours in this style
is because this is a rock biased magazine I thought it would be
better to do darker colours as rock is most often seen as dark
and sell up beat so these colours would best show what my
magazine is going to be like.
Step by step plan for front cover
Subheadings
For both subheadings I got my text off
dafont this is because I thought that it
suited the style of my magazine which is
bold just like the style of music.
Also I have put boxes and changed some of
the colour of the writing, I have done this
the will stand out this was important to do
as I will want to the audience to know the
most important things that I will be
advertising and the words that I have have
highlighted will make people want to read
the magazine.
Tools used:
Paint bucket
Rectangle tool
Italic
Barcode
The barcode is not so important when it comes
to drawing in more people in to buy the
magazine but it is very important to maintaining
the customers that I have. This is because it has
has the social meadia networks on it and this will
help to stay connected to the magazine and to
know when all the know issues will be pulished
also the date on the magazine allows readers to
know how old the information is on the
magazine.
Tools used:
Type tool
Rectangle tool
Paint bucket
Magic wand tool
Title
The tile has been put is with a rustic styled font this is so it has the rock and roll style to it
and this will help the main targeted audience coming in to look at it.
Also the heading across the top means that they will know even from the top what what
they will be reading about also it is in a different style font so they will look to it to see some
dramatic writing this will draw them in.
Tools Used:
Type tool
Puff promotion
This puff promotion is showing that their might be a
chance of them winning tickets to reading festivals. I
have put this in front cover because these tickets tend
to be very expensive so if I give people get the chance
to win free tickets to this event they most likely buy the
magazine to save them money . Also I have put it in a
the red cycle to make sure that it stands out above the
rest.
Tools used:
Magic wand tool
Type tool
Step by step guide for DPS
For the text on the DPS I have alternated colours between me
speaking (interviewer) and the Matt speaking (artist) this is so it
will be clearer to the reader and so they will be less likely to lose
their place when reading and this way if they only want to read
specific questions they can because it has been structured in this
way. Also I have put in a pull quote this is so the reader will be
draw into reading this article by the bold and meaning full
statement.
Tools Used:
Type tool
Colour tool
Bold tool
Article
Sub-image and heading
I have chosen to put in a sub image of the artist on stage because this way the audience
can see the artist do what he does this is good to have because it looks like people are
having a good time so people want see what type of people he is off the stage
Also the heading is in bold so people went be able to miss it or skip past the the page
as the bold heading is there to make sure that they are draw in to read.
Tools used:
Magic wand tool
Main image and social media
For the main image I had to Photoshop the image
onto the page using the magic wand tool and the
end of the guitar had to run off the page as I didn’t
get the whole of the guitar in the photo.
Also for the social media I had to photoshop each
image to suit my colour scheme and to add extra
text so the reader will want to go online to see
what else he has to say.
Tools used:
Magic wand tool
Paint bucket
Back Page
For the back page I had chosen to do a phone because it
was an easy image to take a picture of and it was also
easy to photoshoot on to the page. I chose to put a night
time city view in the background because it makes the
phone look better and professional. The page needed
some form of righting on it. I put in the text so when
customers read it they will be drawn toward the phone
as the texts makes them want to buy the phone.
Tools Used:

Paint bucket

Conclusion
• In LO3 I have looked into how I created my front page of my magazine. I
stated by making sure that I had prepped all the equipment before using it,
such as the camera and the place that I was going to take my photos in.
Next I went on to looking at what I might have changed from my planning,
in this case it was the graphic layout that I planned. I had to change it
because the layout I had planed did not go well with the picture that I
wanted to use. After this I looked back again at my production plan this is
so I was making sure that I had done everything I needed to and also to see
I I would get everything done in time. After this I went onto making my
magazine front cover. After I finished it I produced a step by step guide of
how I made it with all the tools that I used. I did this because I would be
good to go back to after this has been produced and to use it as the
building blocks from the next magazine. Th

Page layout This is where the structure of the magazine will be designed. This step in important because the publishers will not want too put too much on one page so it will make it harder for the audience to read. • 7. Background For the background the tools I used where: Paint bucket Gradient tool Paint brush For the background I started by just putting in a basic shade of red and then of the gradient. Then with the paint brush tool I put on a weak brush to blend in the two colours. The reason that I have chosen to do these colours in this style is because this is a rock biased magazine I thought it would be better to do darker colours as rock is most often seen as dark and sell up beat so these colours would best show what my magazine is going to be like. Step by step plan for front cover
  • 8. Subheadings For both subheadings I got my text off dafont this is because I thought that it suited the style of my magazine which is bold just like the style of music. Also I have put boxes and changed some of the colour of the writing, I have done this the will stand out this was important to do as I will want to the audience to know the most important things that I will be advertising and the words that I have have highlighted will make people want to read the magazine. Tools used: Paint bucket Rectangle tool Italic
  • 9. Barcode The barcode is not so important when it comes to drawing in more people in to buy the magazine but it is very important to maintaining the customers that I have. This is because it has has the social meadia networks on it and this will help to stay connected to the magazine and to know when all the know issues will be pulished also the date on the magazine allows readers to know how old the information is on the magazine. Tools used: Type tool Rectangle tool Paint bucket Magic wand tool
  • 10. Title The tile has been put is with a rustic styled font this is so it has the rock and roll style to it and this will help the main targeted audience coming in to look at it. Also the heading across the top means that they will know even from the top what what they will be reading about also it is in a different style font so they will look to it to see some dramatic writing this will draw them in. Tools Used: Type tool
  • 11. Puff promotion This puff promotion is showing that their might be a chance of them winning tickets to reading festivals. I have put this in front cover because these tickets tend to be very expensive so if I give people get the chance to win free tickets to this event they most likely buy the magazine to save them money . Also I have put it in a the red cycle to make sure that it stands out above the rest. Tools used: Magic wand tool Type tool
  • 12. Step by step guide for DPS For the text on the DPS I have alternated colours between me speaking (interviewer) and the Matt speaking (artist) this is so it will be clearer to the reader and so they will be less likely to lose their place when reading and this way if they only want to read specific questions they can because it has been structured in this way. Also I have put in a pull quote this is so the reader will be draw into reading this article by the bold and meaning full statement. Tools Used: Type tool Colour tool Bold tool Article
  • 13. Sub-image and heading I have chosen to put in a sub image of the artist on stage because this way the audience can see the artist do what he does this is good to have because it looks like people are having a good time so people want see what type of people he is off the stage Also the heading is in bold so people went be able to miss it or skip past the the page as the bold heading is there to make sure that they are draw in to read. Tools used: Magic wand tool
  • 14. Main image and social media For the main image I had to Photoshop the image onto the page using the magic wand tool and the end of the guitar had to run off the page as I didn’t get the whole of the guitar in the photo. Also for the social media I had to photoshop each image to suit my colour scheme and to add extra text so the reader will want to go online to see what else he has to say. Tools used: Magic wand tool Paint bucket
  • 15. Back Page For the back page I had chosen to do a phone because it was an easy image to take a picture of and it was also easy to photoshoot on to the page. I chose to put a night time city view in the background because it makes the phone look better and professional. The page needed some form of righting on it. I put in the text so when customers read it they will be drawn toward the phone as the texts makes them want to buy the phone. Tools Used: Magic Wand Text Paint bucket
  • 17. Conclusion • In LO3 I have looked into how I created my front page of my magazine. I stated by making sure that I had prepped all the equipment before using it, such as the camera and the place that I was going to take my photos in. Next I went on to looking at what I might have changed from my planning, in this case it was the graphic layout that I planned. I had to change it because the layout I had planed did not go well with the picture that I wanted to use. After this I looked back again at my production plan this is so I was making sure that I had done everything I needed to and also to see I I would get everything done in time. After this I went onto making my magazine front cover. After I finished it I produced a step by step guide of how I made it with all the tools that I used. I did this because I would be good to go back to after this has been produced and to use it as the building blocks from the next magazine. Th
