Synergy
From this screenshot of Q’s website it shows that they are in contact with Instagram and Twitter as they have
links to their accounts. This is done so that followers of the social media accounts will know all about what is
happening with Q magazine. Also the social media will be getting advertising as lots of viewers will be looking
at this website. So they will be working together and this is what synergy is, two or more company's working
together. From Q working with social media networks it will give them a platform so that more customers will
be able to see what the magazine is doing at the moment and when they are releasing their next material this
will increase the income for Q as people will know when their issues are out and all information on how to
subscribe and buy.
Product Analysis Purpose = The use of the colours red white and
black are to draw the reader in as these colours
look professional when put together. Also the
main header of the paper is at the top of the
page will be the fist thing that viewers will read
so it will need to be interesting and this is what
they have done by making the headline the
stories of the year.
Genre = What sub-genre is the music magazine
from? Who are it’s competitors? What codes &
conventions help establish it’s sub-genre to the
audience?
Form = What type of product is it – Magazine?
Fiction? Non-Fiction? Is it a market leader in
the Genre?
Demographics
Demographics is statistical relating to particular groups with in the population.
The demographics of Q magazine is A, B, C1 this is because it is aimed at high
end people with more money such as people in management and in the
higher end of paid jobs. The reason that I think that Q will mainly be aiming as
the higher end of social status is because one issue of the magazine costs
£4.70 and this is quite a lot of a magazine so it will be aimed at people with
more money.
Psychographics
These features above are all things that Q magazine want to be doing when running their
company as they want all their works to go through these situations this is because it will
help the company to produce the best magazine that they can and to draw in the most
amount of customers possible this is because both these ideas will help the company to
do will in it market and to also highly achieve what they are trying to do. I mainly think
that Q magazine will be in the areas of succeeders and aspirers.
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
Q magazine make sure that they have all of the above in their
place of work this is so they can work to their full ability and
is will mean that the company will work to its full and proper
standard.
The people working at the top of Q will have all og the
features as this is what they will need to do the best
work possible and to produce work at a high standard.
Every person that is working for Q will need most of these ideas
listed at the bottom because a lot of these ideas every living
people needs to work well
On this next one its almost just as important as the ideas listed
below because if people don’t have this in their working place
they will not work well are to their full ability
For this step it will help people to work harder if they have these in
their lives so Q will encourage people to have these in their lives.
People that have theses features in their personality will
be someone working hard and that have respect for the
people around them this will make them good leaders.
Uses and gratification-UGT
• What people do with media:
1. To be informed and educated
2. In order to identify with the characters and situation
3. To be entertained
4. To enable themselves to socially interact with others
5. To escape from their daily troubles
6. The consumer are take an actual part and role in the activity that is watching the media.
In Q magazine they will link to numbers 2,3 and 5 this is because Q magazine is a
music magazine and it does not try to teach people about stuff it is just there to
make sure that people know about what is going on with other people and just
for the readers enjoyment.
The Hartley classification
Institution are obliged not only to speak about an audience, but- crucially for them to talk to one as well they
need not only to respond to one group from Hartley’s classifications. So company's need to make sure that
they do not discriminate against any of the groups above or they could be sued and this would not be ethical.
So when Q magazine make their magazine the need to sure that the content that they put into the magazine
can at least relate to some of these groups because it will help them to draw in more readers of they know the
type of people that they are aiming for. But they will not reveal this target audience as it would be unethical
because lots of readers will still not fit into their target audience and they will lose readers.
https://www.slideshare.net/ecclestona/audience-4428681
There are 7 socially grouped categories
when it comes to identifying audience.
• Self
• Gender
• Age
• Class
• Ethnicity
• Family
• Nation
Survey Monkey- Primary research
• I have made a questionnaire on survey monkey. This is to see in my
school community what people most want to see in magazines. This
type of process will be done by top magazine company's such as Q all
the time, as it is fast response easy for users to fill out and it can be
easily distributed by email or other forms for online communication.
This is important for magazines to do because it allows them to stay
on top of all the latest information that people want to see in the
magazines that they read. Finally it mean that magazine company’s
can stop losing readers as they are always changing the magazine to
make sure their readers still like it.
IMAGE OF LOGO
1
From this graph it show me that
most the people that wanted to
complete the questionnaire were
in the age range of 15- 20 this
show me that the younger
generation will be looking more
in the magazines and that I
should direct my magazine
toward this.
2
From this graph it
shows that most the
viewers were female
this mean that I will
have to aim my focus
to the female
audience
3
This shows me
that most of
the people that
look at my
questionnaire
were manual
workers this
mean that they
will might want
to see articles
that are suited
to the way they
work or people
that sing song
that help them
to work .
4
The average
income was
mostly 0 to
10,000 this
means that
I will have
to keep the
price of the
magazine
low as most
the people
5
Also form this
table it shows
me that most
people will be
interested in
the POP music
so I should base
the main style
of the magazine
should be POP
but should still
feature other
types of music.
6
From this
graph it
shows me
that most
people no
matter what
how much
their average
income is
they still be
willing to pay
up to or more
than £2.00
7
From this graph it
shows me that
most they people
that did this
questionnaire do
not buy
magazines so I
will have to find
away change their
minds about
magazines
8
From this question it
shows me that if I
was to put up a
magazine I should
broadcast it online as
this is where people
are most likely to buy
it but I should still
sell it in shops and
get people to
subscribe and get it
in the post
9
This question will help
me with what type of
magazine it will be.
This magazine will be
a high end magazine a
most people will want
a hard copy magazine
and this will be more
expensive to produce
and his means the
magazine will have to
go up in price
10
From this question
it shows me that
people want a bit
of everything in the
magazine this will
meant that they
more entertained
and will be more
likely to buy the
magazine on a
regular date.
Secondary research
What I did for my secondary research was I went
out into the public and asked them question about
magazines and about them selves. This way could
gather information to see what magazines should
really be aiming for in my local area.
For example out of all the people I asked most of
them were male and in the age ranges of 21-28
this would be important for a magazine to look at
because it would help then to look at what style of
writing should be in the magazine and the
aesthetics of the magazine as well. Questions that
would also relate to the factors above would be
favorite music style, what content would you most
like to see in a music magazine and where would
you buy a magazine. All the other questions would
help the magazine company to see how much the
should price the magazine at. This is because work
job category, yearly income and how often the
magazine will be brought are all key factors to how
much the magazine will be.
Secondary research response
• From my questionnaires where I went out out to ask people about magazines
most of the people where in the range 21 – 28 this was good because it meant
that I could relate it to other bits of data that I have looked at. However all the
people’s salaries where the same so if I went out at a different time of day then I
might get better and a more wide range of results. So if I was to create a
magazine I would look at these question that I have asked people and see what
people like the most and adapted my magazine to get more customers. I am sure
that Q magazine will constantly be asking and sending out question about their
magazine this way they can change the magazine to get a wide fan base and a
higher income.
Secondary Research
From these reviews I get the impression
that there are lots of mixed ideas about
the magazine this is because there are
not many stars on the over all review
but however some of the comments
that people have put show me that
they like this magazine a lot.
Q magazine will look into the reviews
on the magazine as it allows them to
make improvements easily as people
will state their issue or give good
feedback about the magazine.
It give other buyers a clear idea of
weather or not they should buy the
magazine by looking at the comments
and the average stars that people have
given.

The Hartley classification Institution are obliged not only to speak about an audience, but- crucially for them to talk to one as well they need not only to respond to one group from Hartley’s classifications. So company's need to make sure that they do not discriminate against any of the groups above or they could be sued and this would not be ethical. So when Q magazine make their magazine the need to sure that the content that they put into the magazine can at least relate to some of these groups because it will help them to draw in more readers of they know the type of people that they are aiming for. But they will not reveal this target audience as it would be unethical because lots of readers will still not fit into their target audience and they will lose readers. https://www.slideshare.net/ecclestona/audience-4428681 There are 7 socially grouped categories when it comes to identifying audience. • Self • Gender • Age • Class • Ethnicity • Family • Nation
  • 10. Survey Monkey- Primary research • I have made a questionnaire on survey monkey. This is to see in my school community what people most want to see in magazines. This type of process will be done by top magazine company's such as Q all the time, as it is fast response easy for users to fill out and it can be easily distributed by email or other forms for online communication. This is important for magazines to do because it allows them to stay on top of all the latest information that people want to see in the magazines that they read. Finally it mean that magazine company’s can stop losing readers as they are always changing the magazine to make sure their readers still like it. IMAGE OF LOGO
  • 11. 1 From this graph it show me that most the people that wanted to complete the questionnaire were in the age range of 15- 20 this show me that the younger generation will be looking more in the magazines and that I should direct my magazine toward this.
  • 12. 2 From this graph it shows that most the viewers were female this mean that I will have to aim my focus to the female audience
  • 13. 3 This shows me that most of the people that look at my questionnaire were manual workers this mean that they will might want to see articles that are suited to the way they work or people that sing song that help them to work .
  • 14. 4 The average income was mostly 0 to 10,000 this means that I will have to keep the price of the magazine low as most the people
  • 15. 5 Also form this table it shows me that most people will be interested in the POP music so I should base the main style of the magazine should be POP but should still feature other types of music.
  • 16. 6 From this graph it shows me that most people no matter what how much their average income is they still be willing to pay up to or more than £2.00
  • 17. 7 From this graph it shows me that most they people that did this questionnaire do not buy magazines so I will have to find away change their minds about magazines
  • 18. 8 From this question it shows me that if I was to put up a magazine I should broadcast it online as this is where people are most likely to buy it but I should still sell it in shops and get people to subscribe and get it in the post
  • 19. 9 This question will help me with what type of magazine it will be. This magazine will be a high end magazine a most people will want a hard copy magazine and this will be more expensive to produce and his means the magazine will have to go up in price
  • 20. 10 From this question it shows me that people want a bit of everything in the magazine this will meant that they more entertained and will be more likely to buy the magazine on a regular date.
  • 21. Secondary research What I did for my secondary research was I went out into the public and asked them question about magazines and about them selves. This way could gather information to see what magazines should really be aiming for in my local area. For example out of all the people I asked most of them were male and in the age ranges of 21-28 this would be important for a magazine to look at because it would help then to look at what style of writing should be in the magazine and the aesthetics of the magazine as well. Questions that would also relate to the factors above would be favorite music style, what content would you most like to see in a music magazine and where would you buy a magazine. All the other questions would help the magazine company to see how much the should price the magazine at. This is because work job category, yearly income and how often the magazine will be brought are all key factors to how much the magazine will be.
  • 22. Secondary research response • From my questionnaires where I went out out to ask people about magazines most of the people where in the range 21 – 28 this was good because it meant that I could relate it to other bits of data that I have looked at. However all the people’s salaries where the same so if I went out at a different time of day then I might get better and a more wide range of results. So if I was to create a magazine I would look at these question that I have asked people and see what people like the most and adapted my magazine to get more customers. I am sure that Q magazine will constantly be asking and sending out question about their magazine this way they can change the magazine to get a wide fan base and a higher income.
  • 23. Secondary Research From these reviews I get the impression that there are lots of mixed ideas about the magazine this is because there are not many stars on the over all review but however some of the comments that people have put show me that they like this magazine a lot. Q magazine will look into the reviews on the magazine as it allows them to make improvements easily as people will state their issue or give good feedback about the magazine. It give other buyers a clear idea of weather or not they should buy the magazine by looking at the comments and the average stars that people have given.
