Conclusion to flat plan
• The point of the flat plan is to show me if I
was too do a full magazine I would know what
I am going to put on each page. Also I can
know the structure of my DPS and where I will
position the DPS

Hand Drawn Drafts Conclusion
• The reason that I have done the hand drawn drafts is so that I can look into further
detail in too what my magazines are going to look like these might not be the
finale ones but they will give me a stronger idea of what people will like and what
they will wan to buy. Both of my hand draw drafts are inspired by Q magazine and
Karrang this is because both these magazines are very popular and this means
that I should take some ideas that they have used to make sure that my magazine
will be up to the same standard as these high flying magazines.

Graphic Layout Conclusion
• The reason that I have made a graphic layout of my magazines is to make sure that
they will look presentable to viewers, because if they are not people will not want
to buy the issue. Furthermore it will give me a visual tick lick so when I am
designing the magazines I will know that I have include everything in the cove
page.
• Finally it allows me to get suggestions from people to see what they would like to
change on everyday magazines, and to make sure that I do not make the Same
error.

Interview draft
Me: Hi Matt I heard that you will be releasing a new
new album to go alone with your newest single, is this
true?
Matt: Yes Dan this is true it will be coming out in late
November.
Me: Good because you first single that came out was
such a hit with all people.
Matt: I am glad to hear it.
Me :What kind music will be listening to in this album.
Will the same style as before or will it be something
that we have never heard before.
Matt: I have decided to keep this album the same style
as my music before this is because my fans like the
style that I have done before. But I am sure that I will
expand on my music genres later on in my music
career.
Me: Do you not think they want to see you doing
something new?
Matt : No not yet as I have only just stared as a full
time successful artist so for now I will show people
what my main style then I might move on to
something different later on.
Me: Other than your new album will you be doing
anything else this year or into next year?
Matt : Well once the album is out and I hope it is doing
well my manager is looking into me doing my first
tour.
Me: Will this be world wide, Europe or just the UK
Matt: I guess you will have to wait and see because I don’t even know what I am
doing yet it is all speculation and depending on weather this album does well.
Me: I see, I will hope this it does well then then perhaps you could give me four free
tickets
Matt: Ah ha I would love to but I don’t think my production team will be so kind.
Me: That’s a shame.
But I cant wait to see you go as an artist.
Any ways how did you get into music.
Matt: Well I have always loved music I played lots of different instruments as a child
but I loved to lead with my guitar.
Me: You say lead?
Matt: I played in a band with my friends when I was younger I loved it. It is what
really got me into music as I got that rush of standing on a stage performing.
Me: What happened to this band why did you not all pursue music together.
Matt: We tried are best to keep it going but we were all on different path as some of
us went to uni and we were all different ages trust me we tried.
Me : Well I am sad it hear it but happy that it has put you in this seat in front of me
to day.
Matt: Well so am I. I wouldn't’t have changed a thing.
Me : I has been lovely talking to you and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
Matt: Thank you for the interview its been fun.
Me: It been a pleasure
What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale- 1980) Front Cover
Steve Neale said: For media text to be successful they most have elements of repetition
and difference.
My magazine of inspiration (Karrang) has good ideas that they use in the magazine and I
would like use these in m magazine to attract a bigger audience.
These idea will be the logo and the positioning of there title as they keep it in the same
place for every issue and the style the the title has been written in is the same. In some
weeks they will change the colour of the logo to add a layer of diversity to the magazine.
I do not intend on doing this to my magazine as I will make sure that my audience will
know that the magazine that they are buying will be the real thing that they will know by
first look.
Further more they move the barcode and I will keep it in the same place this will be in
the bottom right hand corner this is because I do not want the barcode to cover up any
of the pictures or any of the text on the page.
One more thing that I will do that my magazine of inspiration does not do, is I will put all
my sub-lines down the left hand side so the reader will not have to look around for what
they will be reading about.
I will put
the sub-
lines here
not the
other side

What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale-
1980) DPS
• Steve Neale said: For media text to be successful they most have elements
of repetition and difference. Because my DPS is inspired Karrang I would
like to take some key features from their DPS and put them into a my own
DPS. This will be a good idea because Karrang is already a successful
magazine so if I take some of their ideas it will be good for my magazine.
• I like the way that the title has been placed and so that everyone can see
what the article is going to be about also it is in bright so people can see it
so it will be more likely to draw in readers.
I think that the drop
capital is a good idea
as it shows creativity
as it is something
better than just a
plane letter that is
the same size as all
the others.
Target Audience of Magazine
Target Audience:
Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs
Will mainly consist of explorers as indie rock is quite popular therefore they could then consider themselves as
being in with the crowd after reading this magazine. They would also like the different articles that would also
like the different articles that would be featured within the magazine as there would be more of choice during
the mouth of what they could read.
Kats’ Uses and Gratifications Theory
Inform and educate- The reader would be learning something from reading the content within my two
magazines they will be reading about one of their favorite artists or artists to come
Diversion- The reader would be able to chill and relax themselves within the content of the article. It would
distract them an allow them to take their mind off anything that is going to happen to them in the future or
that has happened
Hartley's Theory
Age- the age range will be 16 to 25 this is because this age range has the biggest affect on music and I want
them to by my magazine this will also mean that my magazine will make more money as it will be more talked
about and put onto social media.
Gender- the gender will mostly be male because they are more into the rock indie music however I will try to
attract the biggest group of people male and female this way it will make more money

Photo-shoot plan
Background
For the background the tools I used where
• Paint bucket
• Gradient tool
• Paint brush
For the background I started by just putting in a basic
shade of red and then of the gradient. Then with the
paint brush tool I put on a weak brush to blend in the
two colours.
The reason that I have chosen to do these colours in
this style is because this is a rock biased magazine I
thought it would be better to do darker colours as rock
is most often seen as dark and sell up beat so these
colours would best show what my magazine is going to
be like.
Step by step plan for
front cover
Subheadings
For both subheadings I got my text off
dafont this is because I thought that it
suited the style of my magazine which is
bold just like the style of music.
Also I have put boxes and changed some of
the colour of the writing, I have done this so
they will stand out this was important to do
as I will want to the audience to know the
most important things that I will be
advertising and the words that I have have
highlighted will make people want to read
the magazine
Barcode
The barcode is not so important
when it comes to drawing in more
people in to buy the magazine but it
is very important to maintaining the
customers that I have. This is
because it has has the social media
networks on it and this will help to
stay connected to the magazine and
to know when all the know issues
will be published also the date on
the magazine allows readers to know
how old the information is on the
magazine.
Title
The tile has been put is with a rustic styled font this is so it has the rock and roll style
to it and this will help the main targeted audience coming in to look at it.
Also the heading across the top means that they will know even from the top what
what they will be reading about also it is in a different style font so they will look to it
to see some dramatic writing this will draw them in.
Puff promotion
This puff promotion is showing that their might be a chance of them winning
tickets to reading festivals. I have put this in front cover because these tickets
tend to be very expensive so if I give people get the chance to win free tickets
to this event they most likely buy the magazine to save them money . Also I
have put it in a the red cycle to make sure that it stands out above the rest.
Step by step guide for DPS
Text
For the text on the DPS I have alternated colours between me speaking
(interviewer) and the Matt speaking (artist) this is so it will be clearer to the
reader and so they will be less likely to lose their place when reading and
this way if they only want to read specific questions they can because it has
been structured in this way. Also I have put in a pull quote this is so the
reader will be draw into reading this article by the bold and meaning full
Sub-image and heading
I have chosen to put in a sub image of the artist on stage because this way
the audience can see the artist doing what he does best, this is good to have
because it looks like people are having a good time. Also the artists looks like
he is enjoying himself this is good because this is what people want to see
live.
Also the heading is in bold so people went be able to miss it or skip past the
the page as the bold heading is there to make sure that they are draw in to
read.
Main image and social media
For the main image I had to
Photoshop the image onto
the page using the magic
wand tool and the end of the
guitar had to run off the
page as I didn’t get the
whole of the guitar in the
photo.
Also for the social media I
had to photoshop each
image to suit my colour
scheme and to add extra text
so the reader will want to go
online to see what else he
has to say.

Total 472,873
Staff and Cost
This is an important step for the
company running the magazine
because it helps them to know how
much they will need to spend on
equipment. It will also show much
the publishers need to give the
magazine at the start of each mouth
to keep all this equipment running
and they will need to take into
consideration that these products
could brake and they will need to
replace them.
In total it will cost 500,874 I year to
pay them all this should be good, but
this is all if we sell enough magazines.
Print Cost
• https://print24.com/uk/product/magazines/
The screen shot above shows me how much it will cost to print my magazine this is an
important step as I can know work out how many magazine I will need to sell before I
make a profit.
Advertising Revenue
I will have some advisements this will be a good way
of making money and for other music based
companies to expand. Another way that
advertisements help my magazine will be that the
company that we advertising might help to promote
my magazine as well and this will be even more
likely to draw in more readers.
In my magazine there is one
DPS for adverts and one full
page so I will make £14,515
this is good because it
means that this money can
go to the workers and it can
completely fund the printing
cost.
Subscription
0.99x 12 =11.88
To by a magazine a month it will cost the buyer £11.88 so if we give the
buyers a cheaper option to buy a years worth of magazine it might make
more money as more people buy it because it will be cheaper.
So the offer I will give the costumers will be 12 months worth of magazine for
the price of 7 months so this will only cost them £6.93 this will save them
£4.65 So this should bring in more people.
Marketing the magazine
• For the marketing of the my magazines I think that the best
way to advertise will be going on to a radio or starting up a
radio as this will draw in a lot more customers as they will
know what type of music we will do and how the magazine
is run.
• It will also bring in more customers because people will just
be going through stations finding good music and the music
being played will draw in people that like the style of music
this way the audience will be more loyal to the magazine
and will be frequent customers buying.
• This will also have a good affect on the magazine as on the
radio will advertise the magazine articles and how to get
subscriptions.
Profit and loss breakdown
• I have to make sure that I am making money even though I am
spending a lot.
I will be making £14,515 on advisements however I will lose
money on equipment, staff and print cost which will come to
£537,301.55 so over all I will need to sell 537,570 copy's of my
magazine before I star making a profit.
Future plans
In the future I would like for my magazine to reach top 10 music
magazines sold in the UK in a year. I would also like to reach over 100
thousand subscribers on my YouTube page. It will be good to have a lot
of subscribers because it is a type of social media and it will be the
best way to bring in new people. It will also be more likely to attract
people that are actually interested in music as they will have looked
into music on YouTube and then I will provide links to the magazine.
I think these are good targets to try and reach in my first year because
it will show other magazines that we will be pushing for top spot in a
few year and show customers that this magazine will be staying
around for a long time and that it might be worth buying the magazine
to see why everyone likes it so much.

This will link with the genre of the magazine is it is rock and indie based and this types of music will tend to be dark and the white will make it more pleasing to the audience. Font style The font style of my cover lines will be Brush Script Std this is because this style of writing is curly and rustic this will suit the rock theme that goes with my magazine. Also when it is big it will draw readers as the writing is different from most other fonts. Social media Riff will be in synergy with media because then it will be able to become more well know and then it should lead to more readers and consumers, as well as publicity.

  • 11. Hand Drawn Drafts Conclusion • The reason that I have done the hand drawn drafts is so that I can look into further detail in too what my magazines are going to look like these might not be the finale ones but they will give me a stronger idea of what people will like and what they will wan to buy. Both of my hand draw drafts are inspired by Q magazine and Karrang this is because both these magazines are very popular and this means that I should take some ideas that they have used to make sure that my magazine will be up to the same standard as these high flying magazines. Graphic Layout Conclusion • The reason that I have made a graphic layout of my magazines is to make sure that they will look presentable to viewers, because if they are not people will not want to buy the issue. Furthermore it will give me a visual tick lick so when I am designing the magazines I will know that I have include everything in the cove page. • Finally it allows me to get suggestions from people to see what they would like to change on everyday magazines, and to make sure that I do not make the Same error. • 17. Interview draft Me: Hi Matt I heard that you will be releasing a new new album to go alone with your newest single, is this true? Matt: Yes Dan this is true it will be coming out in late November. Me: Good because you first single that came out was such a hit with all people. Matt: I am glad to hear it. Me :What kind music will be listening to in this album. Will the same style as before or will it be something that we have never heard before. Matt: I have decided to keep this album the same style as my music before this is because my fans like the style that I have done before. But I am sure that I will expand on my music genres later on in my music career. Me: Do you not think they want to see you doing something new? Matt : No not yet as I have only just stared as a full time successful artist so for now I will show people what my main style then I might move on to something different later on. Me: Other than your new album will you be doing anything else this year or into next year? Matt : Well once the album is out and I hope it is doing well my manager is looking into me doing my first tour. Me: Will this be world wide, Europe or just the UK Matt: I guess you will have to wait and see because I don’t even know what I am doing yet it is all speculation and depending on weather this album does well. Me: I see, I will hope this it does well then then perhaps you could give me four free tickets Matt: Ah ha I would love to but I don’t think my production team will be so kind. Me: That’s a shame. But I cant wait to see you go as an artist. Any ways how did you get into music. Matt: Well I have always loved music I played lots of different instruments as a child but I loved to lead with my guitar. Me: You say lead? Matt: I played in a band with my friends when I was younger I loved it. It is what really got me into music as I got that rush of standing on a stage performing. Me: What happened to this band why did you not all pursue music together. Matt: We tried are best to keep it going but we were all on different path as some of us went to uni and we were all different ages trust me we tried. Me : Well I am sad it hear it but happy that it has put you in this seat in front of me to day. Matt: Well so am I. I wouldn't’t have changed a thing. Me : I has been lovely talking to you and I can’t wait to see what you do next. Matt: Thank you for the interview its been fun. Me: It been a pleasure
  • 18. What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale- 1980) Front Cover Steve Neale said: For media text to be successful they most have elements of repetition and difference. My magazine of inspiration (Karrang) has good ideas that they use in the magazine and I would like use these in m magazine to attract a bigger audience. These idea will be the logo and the positioning of there title as they keep it in the same place for every issue and the style the the title has been written in is the same. In some weeks they will change the colour of the logo to add a layer of diversity to the magazine. I do not intend on doing this to my magazine as I will make sure that my audience will know that the magazine that they are buying will be the real thing that they will know by first look. Further more they move the barcode and I will keep it in the same place this will be in the bottom right hand corner this is because I do not want the barcode to cover up any of the pictures or any of the text on the page. One more thing that I will do that my magazine of inspiration does not do, is I will put all my sub-lines down the left hand side so the reader will not have to look around for what they will be reading about. I will put the sub- lines here not the other side The text box will move down
  • 19. What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale- 1980) DPS • Steve Neale said: For media text to be successful they most have elements of repetition and difference. Because my DPS is inspired Karrang I would like to take some key features from their DPS and put them into a my own DPS. This will be a good idea because Karrang is already a successful magazine so if I take some of their ideas it will be good for my magazine. • I like the way that the title has been placed and so that everyone can see what the article is going to be about also it is in bright so people can see it so it will be more likely to draw in readers. I think that the drop capital is a good idea as it shows creativity as it is something better than just a plane letter that is the same size as all the others.
  • 20. Target Audience of Magazine Target Audience: Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs Will mainly consist of explorers as indie rock is quite popular therefore they could then consider themselves as being in with the crowd after reading this magazine. They would also like the different articles that would also like the different articles that would be featured within the magazine as there would be more of choice during the mouth of what they could read. Kats’ Uses and Gratifications Theory Inform and educate- The reader would be learning something from reading the content within my two magazines they will be reading about one of their favorite artists or artists to come Diversion- The reader would be able to chill and relax themselves within the content of the article. It would distract them an allow them to take their mind off anything that is going to happen to them in the future or that has happened Hartley's Theory Age- the age range will be 16 to 25 this is because this age range has the biggest affect on music and I want them to by my magazine this will also mean that my magazine will make more money as it will be more talked about and put onto social media. Gender- the gender will mostly be male because they are more into the rock indie music however I will try to attract the biggest group of people male and female this way it will make more money

  • 27. Background For the background the tools I used where • Paint bucket • Gradient tool • Paint brush For the background I started by just putting in a basic shade of red and then of the gradient. Then with the paint brush tool I put on a weak brush to blend in the two colours. The reason that I have chosen to do these colours in this style is because this is a rock biased magazine I thought it would be better to do darker colours as rock is most often seen as dark and sell up beat so these colours would best show what my magazine is going to be like. Step by step plan for front cover
  • 28. Subheadings For both subheadings I got my text off dafont this is because I thought that it suited the style of my magazine which is bold just like the style of music. Also I have put boxes and changed some of the colour of the writing, I have done this so they will stand out this was important to do as I will want to the audience to know the most important things that I will be advertising and the words that I have have highlighted will make people want to read the magazine
  • 29. Barcode The barcode is not so important when it comes to drawing in more people in to buy the magazine but it is very important to maintaining the customers that I have. This is because it has has the social media networks on it and this will help to stay connected to the magazine and to know when all the know issues will be published also the date on the magazine allows readers to know how old the information is on the magazine.
  • 30. Title The tile has been put is with a rustic styled font this is so it has the rock and roll style to it and this will help the main targeted audience coming in to look at it. Also the heading across the top means that they will know even from the top what what they will be reading about also it is in a different style font so they will look to it to see some dramatic writing this will draw them in.
  • 31. Puff promotion This puff promotion is showing that their might be a chance of them winning tickets to reading festivals. I have put this in front cover because these tickets tend to be very expensive so if I give people get the chance to win free tickets to this event they most likely buy the magazine to save them money . Also I have put it in a the red cycle to make sure that it stands out above the rest.
  • 32. Step by step guide for DPS Text For the text on the DPS I have alternated colours between me speaking (interviewer) and the Matt speaking (artist) this is so it will be clearer to the reader and so they will be less likely to lose their place when reading and this way if they only want to read specific questions they can because it has been structured in this way. Also I have put in a pull quote this is so the reader will be draw into reading this article by the bold and meaning full
  • 33. Sub-image and heading I have chosen to put in a sub image of the artist on stage because this way the audience can see the artist doing what he does best, this is good to have because it looks like people are having a good time. Also the artists looks like he is enjoying himself this is good because this is what people want to see live. Also the heading is in bold so people went be able to miss it or skip past the the page as the bold heading is there to make sure that they are draw in to read.
  • 34. Main image and social media For the main image I had to Photoshop the image onto the page using the magic wand tool and the end of the guitar had to run off the page as I didn’t get the whole of the guitar in the photo. Also for the social media I had to photoshop each image to suit my colour scheme and to add extra text so the reader will want to go online to see what else he has to say.

Staff Salary Publisher £35,290 Editors (x4) £26,000 (£104,000 total) Journalists (Internal or External) (x4) £14,000 (£56,000 total) Writers (Internal or External) (x4) £16,000 (£64,000 total) Photographers (x3) £20,528 (£61,584 total) Marketing (x2) £14,000 (£28,000 total) Advertising (x2) £14,000 (£28,000 total) Designers (Graphics) (x2) £29,000 (£58,000 total) Finances (x2) £18,000 (£36,000 total) Human Resources (x2) £15,000 (£30,000 total) Total 472,873 Staff and Cost This is an important step for the company running the magazine because it helps them to know how much they will need to spend on equipment. It will also show much the publishers need to give the magazine at the start of each mouth to keep all this equipment running and they will need to take into consideration that these products could brake and they will need to replace them. In total it will cost 500,874 I year to pay them all this should be good, but this is all if we sell enough magazines.
  • 37. Print Cost • https://print24.com/uk/product/magazines/ The screen shot above shows me how much it will cost to print my magazine this is an important step as I can know work out how many magazine I will need to sell before I make a profit.
  • 38. Advertising Revenue I will have some advisements this will be a good way of making money and for other music based companies to expand. Another way that advertisements help my magazine will be that the company that we advertising might help to promote my magazine as well and this will be even more likely to draw in more readers. In my magazine there is one DPS for adverts and one full page so I will make £14,515 this is good because it means that this money can go to the workers and it can completely fund the printing cost.
  • 39. Subscription 0.99x 12 =11.88 To by a magazine a month it will cost the buyer £11.88 so if we give the buyers a cheaper option to buy a years worth of magazine it might make more money as more people buy it because it will be cheaper. So the offer I will give the costumers will be 12 months worth of magazine for the price of 7 months so this will only cost them £6.93 this will save them £4.65 So this should bring in more people.
  • 40. Marketing the magazine • For the marketing of the my magazines I think that the best way to advertise will be going on to a radio or starting up a radio as this will draw in a lot more customers as they will know what type of music we will do and how the magazine is run. • It will also bring in more customers because people will just be going through stations finding good music and the music being played will draw in people that like the style of music this way the audience will be more loyal to the magazine and will be frequent customers buying. • This will also have a good affect on the magazine as on the radio will advertise the magazine articles and how to get subscriptions.
  • 41. Profit and loss breakdown • I have to make sure that I am making money even though I am spending a lot. I will be making £14,515 on advisements however I will lose money on equipment, staff and print cost which will come to £537,301.55 so over all I will need to sell 537,570 copy's of my magazine before I star making a profit.
  • 42. Future plans In the future I would like for my magazine to reach top 10 music magazines sold in the UK in a year. I would also like to reach over 100 thousand subscribers on my YouTube page. It will be good to have a lot of subscribers because it is a type of social media and it will be the best way to bring in new people. It will also be more likely to attract people that are actually interested in music as they will have looked into music on YouTube and then I will provide links to the magazine. I think these are good targets to try and reach in my first year because it will show other magazines that we will be pushing for top spot in a few year and show customers that this magazine will be staying around for a long time and that it might be worth buying the magazine to see why everyone likes it so much.
