A Critique of the Proposed National Education Policy Reform
Kerrang contents
1.
2. The word ‘contents’ is on the top right corner of the contents page. This is written in bold
white font and is decorated with drawing like images.
Rule of thirds is used to list the articles that feature in the article – however, the middle
and left third is taken up by a picture. Down the right, some of the features are posted.
The dark colour scheme from the front page is continued – there is a lot of black text and
in the main image and the background is very dark. In addition, some yellow is used to
highlight the types of articles, features and posters inside. This combination of black and
yellow almost creates a caution like sign.
3. In the main image, the people are not giving direct contact. The guy standing up is
maybe drunk, and this shows perhaps a fun and partying aspect of the magazine.
However, there is an editorial, which directly addresses the audience. This will make
the audience more at ease, and in addition to the fun image, it gives a sense that
the magazine isnt formal.
There is no masthead on the contents page. Mise en scene is used to further show the
target audience of this magazine – people who are perhaps outgoing. This main image
shows this as it shows 3 people who are partying. The page numbers are in bold font –
this makes them stand out compared to the normal font that shows the titles of the
articles inside.
