What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this product?

2. To create our opening sequence we had to use new equipment
and programmes on the computer to research, shoot and edit our
opening sequence. This meant that we had to learn how to use
each piece of equipment/software as they were all new to us.

3. PREPRODUCTION
Before we started filming, we needed to use certain programmes during
preproduction that we hadn’t ever used before. To create the script, we used
Celtx, which put the script in the correct format. We also used bubbl.us to
mind map our ideas for our opening sequence, which allowed us to expand
our ideas further.
We started to create a voice over for our opening sequence, which in the end
we decided not to use, where we used Audacity to edit this.

4. CAMERAS &TRIPODS
When creating our opening sequence, we used a Canon 1100D to shoot our
film. We had to learn how to use this, as we didn’t have experience using this
type of camera.
We also used a tripod to keep the camera steady when shooting, or else the
footage would look unprofessional and jolty, which is not what we wanted.
At the bottom of the tripod we connected dolly wheels, which were important
when filming because it meant that we could move the camera across a
surface when filming smoothly and easily.

5. SOFTWARE & EDITING
Once we had filmed our opening sequence, it meant that we then had to edit
the individual pieces of footage that we had. To do this we used Adobe
Premiere and After Effects. I had to learn from scratch how to use both
programs in order to edit our opening sequence and make the sequence look
polished and professional. On Adobe Premiere we cut the video clips in the
right order, and we also added the sound. We were able to separate the
sound from the clips, meaning we could create sound bridges. We also
added an ident at the beginning and used colour correction on our footage. In
After Effects, I learned how to add titles and transitions to our opening
sequence.
