How Technologies Like Cameras, Final Cut Pro, GarageBand and Motion Helped in Filmmaking
1. What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
2. First of all is the camera where it all started.
The camera was used to record and store all
the clips from the whole film on a memory
card which was then used to log and transfer
into final cut pro.
3. Final cut pro is a program in which you can
import clips and create a film. It has many
tools which allow you to edit your film and
make it look professional. During the editing
stage I have learnt many ways to structure
my clips into a film.
4. The first thing I leaned was how to make sub
clips and this was very helpful as it made it
easier for me and my group to select which
scenes to use and which to discard. A
secondary tool used to make the scenes
shorter is the cut tool which allowed me to
cut a clip at a specific time in order to make
the film flow fluently. Colour correction is
another tool in final cut pro which allowed
me to give my sequence a more blue/grey
look which made my scenes look real and
first hand. Colour correction also helped me
make my sequence flow fluently and due to
this I did not have to re-do my scenes. Final
cut pro also allows me to alter my sound
levels which helped me get rid of background
noise and keep the sound at a constant level
throughout the film; this was done by using
the pen tool which also allowed me to fade
into and out of each clip.
5. Garageband is a program which is used to
make music. From the sound library we had
found and created music/sounds which were
taken into consideration as to whether we
should use these in our film. We have learnt
how to put the sounds into a sequence with
several layers allowing a person to create a
loop.
6. Livetype is a program where simple titles can
be created with simple ready-made effects.
For our film opening we had used to
program Motion in order to create more
professional looking titles. Motion allowed us
to put in extra effects such us spotlights
which gave our titles more of a suspence feel
to it which was helpful as it went well with
our film opening.
7. The great thing about these programs is that
they work directly with final cut pro which
means there was no trouble in importing the
work created into our film opening.
