Turnstone's - Occupational Interest
Inventory
S.P. Ahluwalia’s - Teaching Attitude

good validity.
• Both qualitative and quantitative data can be
collect quickly and cheaply.
• The gathered responses/ information are highly
valid and reliable.
• Left our data could be easily obtained back
• Data obtained from closed of questions can be
easily tabulated and analyzed.
DISADVANTAGES

2) There are chances for questions being
misunderstood and answered accordingly.
3) The answers provided by the respondents may be
influenced by their mood and emotions at the time of
answering.
4) Answers based on pupils’ feelings
5) Low response rate.
ANECDOTAL RECORD
• An anecdotal record is an observation
that is written like a short story.
• They are descriptions of incidents or
events that are important to the person
observing.
• Anecdotal records are short, objective
and as accurate as possible.

• Raths Louis says, “anecdotal record is a
report of the information's about the significant
episodes which happened in a student’s life.
• According to traxler, “anecdotal record as
the name implies involves setting down
accounts concerning some aspects of pupil
behavior which seems significant to the
behavior.
SALIENT FEATURES
• Factual information about the important events in
the student’s life will be recorded objectively.
• Insignificant daily routines of day to day life will
not find a place in the record.
• Only one incident at a time will be observed and
recorded, each card will be of 3”x 5” size.
• Every teacher will maintain separate cards.
• Behaviors from incidents on play ground, hostel,
laboratory, excursion, field trip, assembly hall, rest
room
MAINTAINING ANECDOTAL
RECORD
 Teacher should decide about which students
have to be observed, when to undertake
observation, and how to record the information
Obtained.
 Everyday a specific time should be allocated to
record the observation made.
 If there is a long interval between observation
and recording, the teacher may forget some of
the details observed.
 The continuous supervision and help of the
school counselor, teachers should keep
CHARACTERSTICS
• Simple reports of behaviour
• Results of direct observation
• Accurate and Specific
• Give Context of Child’s behaviour
• Records Typical or unusual behaviour
ADVANTAGES

personality.
• Help teachers to plan activities
• Teacher gets opportunities to know about his students
fully and get closer to them.

very useful in studying the behavior of small children and
the mentally retarded.
• It is a continuous record
• It will be more productive to offer his ideas and
recommendations on the basis of accurately observed
behavior..
LIMITATIONS
• Studying them take a lot of time, the work load of
teachers increase.
• As the incidents recorded in the anecdotal record
happens to be the important events in the
student's life, any exaggerated description may
lead to misunderstand the student.
• Information recorded in the anecdotal record will
be useful, only if they are accurate and
comprehensive.
• If the described behavior is isolated from the
social background in which it happened, its real
CONCLUSION
• The self reporting techniques and anecdotal
record are assess the learning achievement of
students and their method of learning, it
requires for the teacher to collect various
relevant information related to them. These
techniques are help to assess the student in
proper way.
