center is open to everyone. There are
no restrictions on who is able to use this
facility. Lunn ( 2021), states “[o]verall,
the municipal level of government is the
level in which the recreation needs of
the general public are directly
addressed through the offering of
recreation services” (p.5).
• Connection: Recreation- The connection
is recreation because Lunn (2021),
states “recreation is a fundamental
human need for persons of all ages and
is essential to a person’s physical and
social well-being and to overall quality of
life” (p.5). In a recreation center people
are able to exercise to improve their
physical health and while building social
connections. Many people go to the gym
to get out of their homes and socialize
with others.

• Sector: Sungod recreation center is part of the
public sector because Lunn (2021), suggests that
“[r]ecreation services should comply with the intent
and spirit of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms
and human rights legislation and should provide

ethnic groups, and special interest groups” (p.5).
Recreation centers are inclusive facilities that are
available to everyone in the community.
• Connection: The connection is recreation because

needs” (p.6). This recreation center has a wide
variety of things such as a swimming pool, ice rink,

(p.5). Individuals will join the gym for
personal interests or to meet personal
goals. However, the gym serves the
same purpose to the public which is

advises “[l]ocal commercial recreation is
divided into three types of services: outdoor
commercial recreation, indoor commercial

good company and reducing any youth crime and
things that come along with it.
• Connection: This foundation has a connection with
the coaching section because it is run by
volunteers. Many of the volunteers are part of the
law enforcement or post secondary students. “This
accord brings together the public and voluntary
sectors to form collaborative relationships (Lunn,
2021, p.10).

YMCA

• Sector: The YMCA is in the non-profit
(voluntary) sector. The facility is sustained by
program funding partners. Lunn (2021),
states “Profit-making for sustaining services
SIG (Special interest group) often becomes
public good (which engages the local
government service orientation of
“enabling”); to generate enough profit to
cover costs only” (p.8). The YMCA is
sponsored by the Government of Canada.
• Connection: The YMCA falls in the recreation
area. The YMCA is available for the public’s
benefit and open to the community to
provide a facility where people can improve
their overall health.

• Sector: R.E.C. for Kids society is a non-profit organization. They help to get
children from low-income families involved in sports. The financial sources are
through donations which classifies it under the voluntary sector (Lunn, 2021,

• Connection: This society is connected to recreation and leisure because it is
helping the underprivileged youth to become involved in sports and leisure
activities. The reaction connection enforces values of leading a healthy lifestyle
