1. Production Roles
In the group of three where myself, Lawrence and Shanee discussed what short film that we
are going to make which we decided to make my film as it was interesting although
Lawrence's idea was also strong as well so it was based on a very tough decision to make of
what short film as a group of three that we are going to make. With my short film of
Paranoia, there are production roles that is needed to be covered by different people when
making a short film because if this is not covered at all during the stage of production then
you will miss the deadline of finishing the short film and putting on YouTube so a worldwide
audience can leave feedback of what they think of it.
Being a director within the pre-production, production stage of film-making is very important
as he is bringing his artistic and technical style to the film from the influences that he looked
up to different directors but the main responsibility of this job is to bring out the actors that
who are part of the film because for certain scenes within the film, they may have to show
emotion so the audience may feel bad for the character and also to work on the camera with
in terms with the framing, lenses with filming the scene and the composition of the coverage
shot but The role is going to filled by myself as this is my own short film that I am making
for show to a worldwide audience and I have the right skills to have the role of telling the
actor of how to express their emotions and what they need to do next within the scene.
The role of the producer within this short film will be filled by Lawrence as he will be able to
keep everything organized by making sure that everything is done before the deadline of the
date that it needs to be in like for example: preparing the budget, getting permission from the
Film council to film at the location, writing up a shooting schedule etc. He will need to write
up a risk assessment for the two locations that we may use to shoot my short film because
there will be hazards within the locations that may cause harm to the actors and production
crew white on the location.
The role of a camera operator in the production stage will handed to Shanee as she has the
skills to handle the camera by changing the framing, focus and composition of each shot of
the scene that is going to be part of the film but she will need to follow a shot list that the
director has written to and given to me to see if the coverage shots would work at all. Also, as
part of camera operator, she will need to write a storyboard about of what each scene, shot
and how it was going to last so I cannot get lost of what needs to happen next.
A handing of the lighting will be done by Shanee as she can change the lighting within each
of the coverage shot to create a meaning in my short film for the audience that are going to
watch in a short film. Also she will cover the role of the editor where after we finish in the
pre-production and production stages, she has to edit the short film by putting in the right
shots so the audience would be able to understand of what is going
on.
