Pre proposal for FMP.

1. Tell me in no more than20 words, what
is yourFMP idea?
A psychologicalthriller/horror film trailer andaccompanying
film posteraboutbeing trappedindoorsbecause of
somethingdangerousoutside.
Why have youdecided to makeit? I really enjoy filmmaking/videoediting and usingphotoshop
to create interestingand uniqueeffects. So, I thoughtthis
project would highlight my strengthsand the parts of
creative mediathat I enjoy the mostandhave a passionfor.
What aboutyourproject makesit
importanttoyou?
Video editing and graphic designare two thingsI really enjoy,
I would like to pursuea career in the area in the future.
Because of this, doingmy FMP using these skills andworking
on film would be significant to me. It is a great passionof
mine which makes thisproject important.
Outline someof the initial influences on
youridea/work and somepotential
research targets (remember, research
isn’tjust a paper basedactivity)
One influence is ourcurrent situationwith lockdown, it is
difficult to use different locationscurrently soI believe basing
a film aroundbeing stuck indoorsdue toa sortof threat
would be quite suitableand well-adjusted tothe limitations
of the pandemic. Possible research targets couldbe other
thriller films based onthe idea of being trapped or recorded
in ways I can learn from. Examples of this couldbe: Don’t
Breathe, Hush, ParanormalActivities, Unfriended etc.
What effect do youwant to haveon
youraudience when they see your
project?
I want it to feel somewhat relatable as everyoneis dealing
with a situationright now as going outsideis not anoption.
But also, I want to makeit somewhatdisturbingas
psychologicalhorrorstend to be. I believe this will give me
lots of roomfor creativity with boththe videoand photo
editing.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyour
project [which production
techniques/characteristics are you
employing?]
I want my project tohave a sinister tone andincites the idea
of danger when being/feeling trapped. I want to usecertain
techniqueswhen recording and videoediting like paranormal
activities as it has somewhatinspired the style thatI wish to
take (recording from more of a first-person perspectiveto
feel like youare watchingreal recordings or are immersed in
the world where these eventsare takingplace). I want the
colouring tobe dark anduse of ominousimagesthatyou
may not see at first glance, makingthe moodquite
mysterious.
Why have youdecided to makeyour
project in thisstyle?
To assistthe limitations of locationsto record in andhelp
instil a sense of fear or involvementwhen watching the
trailer. The first-personrecording techniquemakesyoufeel a
lot more involvedin what is happeningas if youwere there
rather thanfeeling like a safe outsiderlookingin. I will also be
mostly recording onmy own sonot only is this technique
useful, butit adaptswell tomy situation, makinguseof what
I havegot and optimisingit.
