- Power Transmission and Distribution
Project Manager for Wood Group Mustang working at Celanese Acetate Site in Narrows, VA. Responsible
for review of Electrical Substation design drawings and manufacturers’ drawings for adherence to scope and
specifications. Assured design continuity of 138kv & 6900V Protection & Control (P&C), Physical, and
Telecommunication. Projects included familiarization with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL)

Provided Project Engineering support for construction of a 138kv substation consisting of replacement of a
138kv/6900v transformer and addition of MOD (motor operated disconnect), HV Circuit Switcher, Secondary
Breakers, related Arresters, CCVTS, etc. Provided review of P&C designs including transformer
differential, bus differential, transformer primary & secondary OC protection, transformer neutral,
zero-sequence relaying, SCADA, etc.
Additionally, I provided Project Engineering support for construction of a 6900v indoor substation including
installation of double bus/double breaker metal clad switchgear, 125VDC system, 120VAC instrument &
lighting systems, conduit and cable trays, etc.

Corporation. As PG&E Owner’s Engineer my responsibilities included 1) evaluation of contractor proposals

Engineering & Design groups and Construction organization, 3) monitoring of contractor reporting, 4)
overview of contractor design submittals/drawings, and 5) contractor adherence to project budget and

Manager for S&L Chattanooga Office responsible for projects associated with S&L’s Power Delivery
Services. Responsible for substation project PM role, office manpower loadings, and business
development with existing and potential clients. Served as S&L’s primary point-of-contact for substation
managed tasks performed for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
Manager of S&L Los Angeles Office serving as primary contact for Engineering tasks performed for Southern
California Edison (SCE). Responsibilities included client liaison, expansion of office presence relating to
SCE, and fulfillment of Project Management role.
Project Manager of numerous TVA Substation upgrade projects responsible for overall project cost (CPI -
Cost Performance Index), schedule, and quality. Typical projects included:
 Guntersville Hydro Plant - Replacement of existing 161-115kV transformer with four single-phase
50 MVA 161-115-13.8 kV power transformers and addition of 115kV, 2000A power circuit
breaker. Tasks included physical design of pier-slab foundations and various augured
foundations for associated bus, etc. Replacement of existing protective relaying including
addition of SEL-387 transformer differential, SEL-551 over current, breaker failure, and SEL-421
& REL-512 line relays.
 Colbert Fossil Plant - Replacement of twenty-seven (27) 161kV Oil Circuit Breakers with 3000A
SF6 PCBs, replacement of seventy-six (76) disconnect switches including twenty-three (23)
Motor Operated Disconnects (MODs), addition of forty-eight (48) surge arresters, addition of
Digital Fault Recorder (DFR) and SEL-2030 communication interfaces, and modification of
associated Line and Breaker Failure (BF) relaying.
 Batesville, MS 161kV Substation - Replacement of existing 161kV line relays with dual
microprocessor line relay package consisting of GE “D90” and REL-670 relays operating in pilot
scheme via power line carrier and interfaced with SEL2030 communications
processor.Installation of associated wave traps, LTU, and transmitter / receivers for power line
carrier.
Power Engineer responsible for over-site of design review, design calculations, construction, equipment
specification, and commissioning of 161-kV switchyard. Construction experience including live-line
demolition of OCB switchyard and installation of SF6 GCB switchyard.
Knowledge of the design and testing of protective relay schemes including electromechanical and
programmable relays, SCADA, revenue metering systems, annunciation, ground detection units,
161/13.8-kV delta and grounded wye distribution systems, and SF6 GCBs, OCBs, & ACBs.
Developed pre-operational test protocol and completed testing of new 161kV Substation.
Performed design review of Single-line Diagrams, Three-line Diagrams, AC & DC Control Schematics,

the modification and upgrade of the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site (DOE - SRS). Provided
design support for the installation of 600hp river water suction pump and associated motor operated valves
(MOVs).

ETAP software, analysis of motor thermal overload protection, and voltage drop calculations.
