1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media
product and why?
By Maisie Legg
2. Frontline
Frontline produces an extremely wide
variety of magazines across all genres.
Their publshing partners are Bauer
Media, H Bauer, Haymarket and
Immediate Media Co. They produce
magazines such as Mojo and Q, these
both fit my music genre. However they
have successful magazines in all areas,
for example; cooking, film, children’s
magazines and men’s magazines. It is an
extremely well established company.
3. Time INC UK
• Time Inc. itself is an American New York
based publishing company. It publishes over
90 magazines in the states, including its
namesake, Sports Illustrated, Entertainment
Weeekly and Real Simple. It owns Time Inc.
UK, this company produces the NME, which
is a music magazine that also fits into my
genre. It also publishes What’s on TV,
Country Life and InStyle.
4. Who do I think would publish my
magazine?
• Overall I believe that frontline would be the
better distribution company as they distribute
more music magazines that are of a similar
genre to mine, therefore they have slightly
more experience in dealing with the
distribution of magazines such as mine. Time
INC however does produce the NME, but that
is the only music magazine it makes, and now
the NME is a free magazine and is mostly
downloaded online whereas Mojo and Q are
still bought with hardcopies and are not free.
