2. Bauer
Bauer media group is a company that
is headquartered in Hamburg,
Germany. Bauer manages a portfolio
of more than 600 magazines. This
initial portfolio includes postal,
distribution and marketing services.
Bauer first ventured into publishing
in the UK. It also publishes many
brands such as TV Choice, Take a
Break, TV Guide Kerrang, Q and
Mojo.
3. Time Inc.
The International Publishing Corporation was
formed in the year 1963. The company tends to
work with large magazine companies such as
NME. It published over 90 magazines and it
currently owns life.com, a website that is
dedicated to both news and photography. In the
year 1990 Time Inc. merged with Warner
Communications to form the media
conglomerate Time Warner. This successfully
lasted until the company was ‘spun off’.
4. Blaze
Throughout the duration of the last
couple of years Blaze has grew to become
the largest independently owned
publishing company. It has expanded
into music magazine and live events and
it also publishes a range of music related
magazines. They have a number of
people working for their company
around the UK.
5. My Chosen Distributer
The institution that I haven
chosen to distribute my
magazine it Bauer Media. I
believe that it will give my
magazine the attention and
publicity it needs as it has
connections with TV
Programmes and it
distributes the top music
magazines that have been
published.
6. Who would my magazine compete
with?
The main competitor for my
magazine will be NME as we
have a similar target audience
therefore we will both have to
follow conventions that appeal to
our target audience. However,
NME is mostly aimed towards
men whereas my magazine is
made to be aimed at a higher
percentage of females that
males.
7. My Magazine
By using Bauer as my magazine distributor
it will gain publicity and media attention as
it is a successful distributor. It may also help
gain the company a profit depending on
how many magazines the publish. By also
publishing a magazine at a more of a niche
audience, and older female music I may
increase Bauer's share of the market.
