may be more suitable for certain people.

3. Personally I think that Bauer media group would the
most successful publisher for my magazine ‘Overload’.
When investigating into Bauer media I noticed some
particular aspects that would help to publish my
magazine effectively. Firstly they’re already a large and
well known publishing company internationally they
produce a large variety of magazines of different
genres. They produce some very successful magazines
such as ‘Kerrang’ and ‘Mojo’ and ‘Q’. With them being a
very well-known publishing company this means they
already have a large audience. This will be a great
benefit to a newly published magazine, it gives my
magazine the advantage of being seen by its target
market straight away. Bauer Media already publishes
very popular magazine called ‘Q’ this is a similar
magazine to ‘Overload’ they are both multi-genre music
magazines. This means that Bauer media will already
know the needs and requirements of target market for
my magazine.

this will be a major advantage. Set of associations formed in the customers mind.
•in the procedure of publishing my magazine successfully. This means my audience will
already have high expectations/ will think highly of the magazine.

A media institution is an organisation of company, public or privately owned that produces
and/or distributes media products. I researched three of these institutions. Bauer media
group who publish ‘Q’, TimeInc/ IPC who publish NME.
Two of these large publishing companies have been very successful in the media industry.
Bauer Media and TimeInc, Bauer media is Britain's’ biggest magazine publisher. With these
being large companies this is one of my main reasons for choosing these publishers. They are
well known, popular, experienced and will have advantages over smaller publishing
companies – things such as being in contact with larger/more famous artists.
OVER-ALL EVALUATION
A media institution is usually an organization or company that works with marketing,
publishing, production and distribution of media products (e.g music magazines). I have
looked in to some of these distributors such as Bauer Media, choosing he correct publisher
for my magazine is vital to ensuring the magazine will be distributed well and reaches its
intended target audience. Looking in to Bauer media it became apparent that this would be a
suitable distributor for my magazine, this company is the worlds largest privately owned
publishing group, distributing over 300 magazines in 15 countries as well as online, TV and
radio stations. The fact they produce most types of media means an opportunity to converge
into different media, this company also has a large amount of magazines that they regularly
publish including Q magazine, MOJO and Kerrang. All these magazines are popular and well
known in the market and share some characteristics with the magazine I have produced. This
is very beneficial due to the experience with publication, the style and genre of the magazine
– helping my product reach the intended target audience more accurately.
The distribution of my magazine is very important for numerous reasons,
if I had created a unique magazine that was aimed at a niche market then
I would have chosen a smaller independent company as this would have
been more appropriate. However, Bauer Media has large amounts of
experience distributing magazines of a similar genre to my own.
