3. RESEARCH
STRENGTHS: my research helped my project as I was able
to take ideas from published professional videos for
cinematography and shots, they also gave me ideas for
the characters actions and style of my editing and
transitions.
WEAKNESSES: A weakness in my research was not having
enough detail on my research as it was a bit vague in
techniques I wanted to use and I didn’t add any ideas for
transitions or editing.
4. PLANNING
STRENTHS: one of the strengths in my planning was
being able to being able to pick our song, as since first
hearing the song I had a faint idea for a music video for
it. So it was quite easy to plan for it as I already had a
faint idea.
WEAKNESSES: One weakness with planning was the time
frame we were given as the half term was in the middle
of our project meaning people were going on holidays or
busy making planning when and where to film difficult.
5. TIME MANAGEMENT
I believe I managed my time well, as I finished my video
and all the required research on the PowerPoint, I also
managed to get most of my recordings done in the
allotted time and same with the research.
6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
I used many different camera techniques in my music video such as
focus altering, zooming in and out of main subjects and first person
shots.
7. TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
Similarities: same genre of music, similar transitions and
effects,
Differences: Different shots and shot types, different characters,
different song, different locations, the professional music video
is more advanced with better effects and acting as they would
have had a much larger budget available and professional
companies such as directors and cinematographers ect.
8. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
The first shot is in full focus
and has a blank back
ground making it easy on
the eyes and east to
understand.
9. The fireworks that are spread
throughout the video are out of focus
giving a soft sort of feeling and
calming atmosphere.
10. AUDIENCE APPEAL
My video appeals to the target audience as its purpose is to
entertain as the first shots hold intrigue as it crates a sense
of wonder and on edge as the dark shots don’t give much
away. My video also appeals to16-19 year olds as it involves
16 year olds as the actors and places that are easily
accessible to them, it also will have “shinedowns” global
audience as I used one of their songs.
12. FEEDBACK 1
What did you like about the product?
I really likes the structured narrative throughout your
music video; furthermore, also the relevance and
reflection against the lyrics is effective in engaging your
audience.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Firstly, I think that you could have had a larger range of locations in
you video. Secondly, you could have used more different types of
shots, meaning that you would have shorter clips, which would
evidently make it much more appealing and engaging.
And finally, I think that you could have used a wider range of video
effects/transitions, all of which would make it much more aesthetically
pleasing toward the eyes of your audience, whilst also creating more
13. FEEDBACK 2
What did you like about the product?
I liked the creativity of the editing and some of the shots in the video
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
The acting throughout the video could have been more fluid and
realistic, also the fireworks could have been more focussed
14. FEEDBACK 3
What did you like about the product?
I quite liked that in your footage you included a variety of this like a
clock and people walking through a forest as it creates a sort of
juxtaposition with both the video and the song.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Sometimes there were quite a lot of the shots of the clock so for an
improvement you could maybe include a bit more in terms of variety.
But other than that, it’s pretty good.
15. PEER FEEDBACK
SUMMARY
What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I agree
I used lots of the same shots as I had very little footage
available, I also could have used a wider range of
transitions and editing tools to add fluidity too my
project.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? I
disagree with the statement that the fireworks should
have been more focused as I wanted them to be out of
focus to add a aesthetic appeal as if they were in focus
they would be difficult to see and strain the viewers eyes.
