What Attempts to escape prison.
Why Because she has had enough of being trapped.
When In mid-summer, 2020.
Where UK.
How By climbing over an unsupervised gate in the prison yard, unknowing if they actually succeed.
9. Mind Map: 3 initial plans
A twenty one year old female called
Marie Turner is attempting to
escape prison after stumbling upon
a hole in a fence. The story is set in
the mid-summer of 2020.
14. Existing Product
This is similar to my project because
the plot of the episode is based off
escaping in prison. She escapes
prison by stealing a cop van and
killing a inmate whilst she was at it.
The first part is more similar to my
project plans because my character
also steals a cop vehicle and escapes.
The only difference is that the woman
dies in the end, which I do not plan to
do for my character.
Similarities in the shot would be the filter that is expressed throughout the clips that are present
in the storyline. The location would be the same too, both of the storylines set in escaping prison.
This could make people
want to watch the series
as the storyline is exciting
and the series is overall
enjoyable and almost
addictive to watch.
15. Existing Product
The similarities that this and my product will have are the layout of
the magazine
and making it look like an advertisement for the movie. The type
of photo shot that
was used on the front of the magazine would be used in my
project too, the type of
mugshot appearance sets the scene for the movie and gives the
prisoner vibes that’s
needed.
This magazine cover makes you want to buy the magazine because
it has loads of information that is included inside the magazine,
and also the use of the collectors item text up top means that the
magazine is giving you a gift almost as a fortune of purchasing the
magazine.
16. Existing Product The similarities of this and my
project is that they both have
the same 8-bit pixel type
look, and have the same plot
line, mainly. The use of bright
colours and prison outfits are
similar to mine, as it really
sets the prison game look of
the whole game. The game is
about escaping prison, as
much is mine.
This game makes people want
to buy it because it almost
looks retro, with the 8-bit
design, and with the birds-eye
layout of the game, it is easy
to play. With the prison
colours, the game is easy to
recognise.
17. Existing Product
This product will be similar to mine
because the series that is advertised is
about prison. The use of fan art is a good
concept to use when advertising as it
gives good audience appeal. The choice
of advertisement is good as loads of
people would be able to see such.
This product is similar to mine because
the layout of the billboard advertisement
is kind of similar that I have planned, also
the colour theme that they have is kind
of similar. It shows various other
prisoners and is easy to look at.
This would make an audience watch the
show because its seen everywhere, and
is high up. It also has that it is on Netflix
which majority of people will have in
their homes. Also that the note that it is
the final season would want to make the
audience that haven’t seen it before,
want to watch the other seasons.
18. Research Summary
• What have you learned from your research?
• I have learnt that there is loads of prison related media on the internet. I have also
learnt the overall colour palette that is used in prison-based media and will input this
in my project. I have also learnt new ways to layout my media and aesthetic filters to
use on top of such.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
• The aspects of the research that I will include in my work would be some of the
layouts that are used in the magazine media and the billboard, possibly. I will also be
taking note of the common colours that occur throughout the media I selected and
will be inputting them into some of my work. Although they are muted colours
mainly, I will contrast them against bolder colours that match and make the content
more eye-catching and possibly attract audience attention.

demo level and cut scene
• Sound track for the video game
• A magazine front cover, promoting the film
• Additional advertising to promote the film

37. After getting into speeding related police crimes in her mid-teens, a
woman is arrested and sent into Harlewood prison, a minimum security
prison. After spending a few months there prior to her thoughts, she
began plotting a way to escape in her head. The woman begins to keep
a mental memo on her plans, not feeling safe around guards or fellow
inmates as they would find the plans if they were wrote on paper. She
planned to escape when she was locked in the SHU and when they let
her out for bathing hours. She started by attacking the guard on scene
and getting the key to unlock her hand cuffs, she wears the guard
uniform and goes out through the main office unnoticed at first. She gets
to the main entrance of the prison and the prison warden finds her
escaping, in which she ended this by using a tazer, then hitting the male,
making sure he’s unconscious, in which she then runs out quickly before
she got caught by anyone else. She makes it out, but is unsure on how
long she will remain being hidden for.
39. Research
• The strengths of my research are that it enlightens me on the already existing things and ensures
that I don’t make the exact same thing as the creator of it, as my project would be considered as
copyrighted. Another strength of my research is that it gives me ideas into what I want to do
before-hand, and allows me to collect a colour-palette that refers to the prison theme that I was
aiming for throughout my project.
• The weaknesses of my research is that I could’ve made it a bit more indepth and added video
adverts or other billboard adverts that I could’ve took inspiration from. Some of my research can
become quite repetitive as the ‘Orange Is The New Black’ is used more than other possible
prospects in my project.
• Things that I would do to improve my research is to add more indepth things that use different
colour palettes and styles of fonts or aesthetic style. I would’ve added more billboard
advertisements and magazine covers so the final project didn’t look so similar to some of the
research photos I chose.
40. Planning
• The strengths of my planning is that I added a lot of colour schemes that I would use throughout
my projects, and the different types of fonts, that are both readable and some of them are a bit
tricky to read at first. Although the magazine I made was a basic version of what I had created in
the end, I think it represented what I wanted to portray it as well. Another strength in my
planning is that the style sheets are quite easy to look at and represent the aesthetic that I
wanted to go with in these projects, quite good.
• The weaknesses of my planning would be that I could’ve added more fonts onto the style sheet
and added some brighter colours into the colour scheme I wanted to use. Although with what I
created with the video game, I could’ve made a better start page for it.
• I would improve by focusing more time on finding better fonts that match the vibes perfectly, and
finding brighter colours to contrast the darkness of it. For instance, the darker colours could be
used around the edges to create shadows almost, and add the brighter matching colours into the
centre, creating a bit of contrast. For instance, bright orange and dark orange.
41. Time Management
• I think I managed my time not so well as the project ended up a bit
late, regardless of this, I think I created some good projects within
such. My products probably would have improved, for instance a
suitable voice over for the male in the animation/game, more
homemade sound effects, and better drawing of the characters.
42. Technical Qualities
The similarities to these two pieces of work would be the text position on the billboard advertisement, and the use of Netflix which can be
easily recognised, meaning the viewer could possibly be enticed by such.
The differences of these two pieces of work would be the different elements that are included throughout the product, for instance, my
work has more elements with the overlay used on the text area, and the different filters used on it. However on the right, they have more
pictures which can be easily recognisable on a highway billboard.
My work is detailed because I have added extra textures to create depth into the image and make it less flat looking. I created my effects by
using overlays and using the screen overlay feature in photoshop which blends the overlay into the layer underneath.
43. Technical Qualities
The similarities to these two pieces of
work would be the layout of the pictures
on the bottom left. I have used two
different people but added different
positions to it. I have also used two people
that are easily recognisable, much like the
one on the right so viewers can be enticed
to view more. I have used the same
polaroid effect also.
The differences of these two pieces of
work is the amount of information that is
shown on them both, mine has less than
the right one, but regardless of this, it
makes it easier to read.
My work is detailed as the cover title is
more complexed than the one on the right,
I have added a bit of storyline onto the
cover which really sets a vibe on whats’ to
come in the magazine.
44. Aesthetic Qualities
The similarities to these two pieces of work would be the layout of the pictures on the left. Another similarity is the text and where it is
available on. I used Netflix to represent where the movie would be shown because Netflix is more recognisable than others.
The differences of these two pieces of work would be the colour scheme, there is more red in my creation than the other, the other piece of
work is quite neutral coloured. Another difference that I can see is that the one that I am using to compare to my work, has two extra
pictures along side of the orange is the new black lettering whilst mine has none, making it more easier to read when up in higher places.
My work is detailed because I have added extra textures to create depth into the image and make it less flat looking. I created my effects by
using overlays and using the screen overlay feature in photoshop which blends the overlay into the layer underneath. I think my work is
aesthetically pleasing enough, as it holds the same colour scheme somewhat throughout and has represented a lock and key upon the
locked out wording.
45. Aesthetic Qualities
The similarities to these two pieces of work
would be the layout of the pictures on the
bottom left and the colour scheme that I have
added throughout the work. I have used two
different people but added different positions
to it.
The differences of these two pieces of work
would be the placement of the barcode,
different ways to place the text, and I added
other layouts in the top and bottom left
corner. I added more information onto the
front which can make the product more
eyecatching.
My work is detailed as the cover title is more
complexed than the one on the right, I have
added a bit of storyline onto the cover which
really sets a vibe on whats’ to come in the
magazine. I think my work is aesthetically
pleasing enough because it has the same
consistent colour scheme throughout.
46. Aural Qualities
I think my work sounds good and was creative because I have tried to keep to the same colour scheme throughout the projects, and I
have used some of the ideas I had collected throughout the planning period but never indirectly copied them without mentioning it first
as a similarity.
The aspects of the audio that I had created with the animation was the beginning start page and the music that went with it, then it
fades into the horror ambience, which can come across as setting a mood in a way. Having a high-upbeat song play then fade out into
footsteps and ambience of a horror movie can be quite a contrast but really sets the scene
of what breaking out of prison would be like, a personal horror show.
If I were to improve it, I would’ve used louder sound effects/turned the volume up to some as they can come across as quite dim and
less scary.
The strengths of my work would be that it looks good, the billboard advertisement was eye-catching and would potentially lure some
people in with that as it would be easy to read from up above, and the magazine is eye-catching because it tells a bit of a story, making
the reader want to view more inside. Strengths of my animation would be that it shows the storyline that I wanted to show and
expresses it perfectly.
The weaknesses of my work would be that some of the filters used on the billboard advertisement could’ve been tweaked a little before
hand, making a merge of them all a bit more seamless rather than one being a warm toned picture and the other being a cool toned
picture. A weakness of my magazine cover would be to add more information on the top of the page where the first edition lettering
was placed, as this could’ve lured in more customers. A weakness of my animation would be to draw the characters better. For instance,
when the female prisoner character was walking and when the guard was walking, the legs looked a little bit weird at first.
47. Audience Appeal
I think I appealed my target audience because the game/animation I created is
8-bit and looks a bit retro and I used easily recognisable colours, for instance,
orange for the inmate jumpsuit and blue for the guards uniforms. As for the
billboard, I have appealed to my target audience by creating a billboard that is
easy to view and read from above your head and is eye catching. The overlays
I used in the product makes the billboard design more dated and authentic,
and makes it visually pleasing to look at. With the magazine cover, I think I
appealed to the audience because I used similar colour schemes again like the
game, and added information on the cover that would appeal to someone who
likes such. The magazine cover had a ‘free gift’ promise on the front, appealing
to the audience because they are getting a gift when they purchase this
magazine. The fact that it is a first edition of the magazine, makes the
collectors see this and buy it to keep it safe and possibly resell one day.
48. Overall strengths and weaknesses of the final
package.
The strengths of my work would be that it looks good, the billboard advertisement was
eye-catching and would potentially lure some people in with that as it would be easy to
read from up above, and the magazine is eye-catching because it tells a bit of a story,
making the reader want to view more inside. Strengths of my animation would be that it

The weaknesses of my work would be that some of the filters used on the billboard
