Production Process Evaluation
Research
• Within my research I was able to develop my ideas for my 3 products this included a lot of different processes which
began with my existing products which I explored 6 products that I found from the internet a strength to this was I
already knew the type of products I was going to explore as I actually own the magazines or I shop on theses websites
myself so it was great to already know information about these and find out even more. Another strength from this was
whilst researching I could look at the photography to the images which was the image style and how they edited the
pictures in specific ways. Also the layouts which they use on the existing products which means it gave me more ideas
on my layouts when it came to my pre-production. A weakness was finding the similar products especially with the
magazine and the two page spreads because I didn't have a certain layout for my inside my magazine so I struggled
with looking for products which did become time consuming and I had to come back to these PowerPoint pages and
continue with my research. So therefore for my existing products I would have improved my research development and
looked into a lot more styles and focus and the image style itself if I had spare time. I would also look more into existing
two page spreads because I feel like I didn't really focus on this much and didn't get that much ideas from it as I
struggled finding some. I could have looked into some physical magazines and took some pictures of them and explored
them because the effect this would have on my product could of been that I would have a specific idea for my
magazines layout meaning that would have been less time consuming.
research which was a strength for me. I also used the idea of the
angles that the existing product had of the models and were to
place them on the page and the idea of 3 models in one picture.
This part of my research helped my products after looking at the
existing products I knew exactly which parts I wanted to then
include in my own product which I had just mentioned, and this
was a success because I did end up including these aspects.
Existing product My product
From one of my existing products compared to my own product
(half of my two page spread) you can see that I used the idea of
the shadow look from my research which was created from
Photoshop and I stuck with this idea because it links with my
• Also, within my research I explored my primary audience which I did by conducting both a survey and an
interview. With my survey I wasn’t really satisficed with my results which was the main weakness to this
because I had only received 7 results and I did want to at least head for over 20 because then I could of
compared the results and get a range of opinions from a similar audience. Before I published my survey in my
research, I had stated that I only wanted a similar audience to vote (which is a female audience) but I had
some how managed to have one male who ad completed my survey which was another weakness because
this wouldn't really help me much to relate towards my product.
Although I had a few weaknesses a strength to my survey was the type
of questions which I used even though I had a small amount of
response's I still managed to get a few ideas from the questions such as
what their fashion styles is or what they think the current trends are so
I was then able to related my product to these trends and use some
clothes which was their type of style in production and my initials plans
(which I created a mood board of what styles I liked). For my survey I
believe I could have definitely improved how I conducted it because I
didn't’ really get the survey out there for example I could have put this
on social media for a larger base to view it, or post it on teams so other
people can reach it and share it on. This would influence my survey
because I would have collected a lot more responses and would have a
better understanding to what I need to include so it would appeal
towards my specific audience type. Included in my primary research
because of the result to my survey I decided to go ahead with an
interview to see if I could get a bit more information from my audience.
This turned out to be a success because a huge strength was that my
audience type applied towards my sister therefore, I didn't struggle
with finding someone and I was able to get the interview done very
quickly with no re scheduling or let downs. I also received good
responses and it helped within my project because I had a much better
understanding than before when I had just my survey, so I was more
positive.
• A weakness for my interview would be the number of questions I had asked I felt like I could have added a lot
more detail into the questions to find out more information as I didn't have much from the survey so if I had
added ore questions, I would have a lot more information to look back on in my production. Another weakness
was I had planned in my research to write the responses down after I asked Abbi then questions which I soon
realised was a lot more time consuming and difficult to keep up with and I ended up recording the interview so I
could look back on the responses. For an improvement with my Primary Research, I would have looked into other
ways or things I could create because I didn't have that much research from this that I felt confident with, but I
didn't have enough time to look into more ways.
• The last main part which helped me from my research was my practical research which I explored 5 small
experiments the main experiment which was a strength for me was my second one which I used models and
created shadows on the models using Photoshop. This was a strength because I had gotten this idea from my
Existing products (THE KRIPT) and I had mentioned at the start of my research that I
included this type of edit in my final products because of my practical research as I didn't
know how to do this until I chose to experiment it therefore, I was glad I chose to try it
out so then I had practice before I created the final Photoshop edits. I also explored the
filter techniques which I looked into a few apps and Photoshop to add colour contrasts
and changed the exposure a weakness from this was a struggled find apps which ad he
exact filters which I was looking for such as retro and bling filters and on the mac
computer it was also hard to download Certain apps. So, this resulted in me using
Photoshop to edit a picture another weakness was I didn't like my outcomes and wasn’t
that happy with them because I felt like I didn't get much experience from that
experiment, however I did
Complete this experiment quickly which was a strength, so I had more time to try out more than
just two experiments and I also did manage to find one filter which I did include in my final
products which was the ‘polaroid effect'. I was happy with this outcome but
I did feel that it was just basic as all you had to do was add a border to the back
of the image which was very simple and wasn really a challenge to me which I
Would have preferred. Another practical experiment which I decide to test out
Was creating both websites on different websites and compare the two to see
Which outcome I liked better and which website I will use for my final products.
• From this experiment I had a lot of strengths such as I found it easy to
follow the instructions to both websites on how to achieve the perfect
website because they were both helpful due to the fact, I haven’t ever
created my own website before. I also had a success with adding in the
pictures which the wix website had a few saved which I could use whereas
I struggled with square space because they wasn’t that many options in
general with font choices etc.
• A weakness with the wix website was fitting certain images onto the scale
the images wouldn’t look right and they all came out different sizes which
was a struggle however there was a range of layouts which I chose from to
help me began with creating a website example. In the end I did state that
I preferred the wix website because of the range of edits I included and
how well my website example came out.
• Overall, from my practical research the main areas I would work on to
improve would be by doing my research on the apps which I an use that
will work and include the effects I want to explore in which would have
helped me because I would have not been stuck when it came to adding
filters in my final outcomes. I would have also maybe explored my
experiments more and tried a photoshoot example just so I would have
known what to expect or to practice some angles however I was going to
Square space
Wix
improve this, but I ran out of time. This part to my research helped my product because I gained a lot of experience
just by experimenting and learning new techniques with what I like and what I don’t like for example with my exposure
choices to the filters. I also used a few of these experiments in my final which was the wix website and I used the filter
Photoshop technique and the shadow technique.
Planning
Moving onto my planning a main part which helped me to gather more ideas
together was the mood boards and a mind map I created (included on the initial
plans PowerPoint)This part of planning was a huge success because gathering
images together is something which I prefer than writing a full list because images
give me more ideas especially with edited images because I can use this for
inspiration. I explored more than just picture of people on my mood board I added a
few website examples from brands and two page spreads as this gives me ideas for
my pre production when it came to looking at layout plans. However finding these
images was a weakness because they are mostly shown on social media (Instagram)
and I had already decided to find them from the images section on the internet so it
did take me longer than expected to create the mood board. I also created a mini
mind map typing up simple things I wanted to achieve this is a strength because I
was able to look back n this in production because I went into more detail on
specific ways I wanted my background to be etc. However, a weakness was I didn't
think this was as much information as I wanted to have in my planning because I
didn't end up creating any larger mind maps with different ideas due to the time I
had so therefore this would be an improvement to make more mind maps in more
detail. Which would have an effect on my product such as I could have added more
backgrounds than I put in the mind map (I only added around two locations) and
when it came to my products I had stuck to my planning throughout the whole
process.
The next part to my planning process was the image styles , colour schemes and
layout plans the image style was the part I did extra because I wanted to explore
more into what I wanted my images to look like or what type of style I will be
achieving or editing. A strength from this was I got the idea of ‘duplication’ from
looking into these through Instagram I noticed a trend with this type of editing and
I Liked the looked of it and I ended up creating this in my final
products for both my magazine and website which was a success
for me to stick to my planning. I also looked into the colour
schemes which was also a success because at the end of planning I
had a strong idea of what the main colours will be for each
products I create. However I think I could have looked more into
my colour schemes and labeled for each my backgrounds or
clothes what the colour schemes will be which would be my
improvement if I had more time and would have allowed me to
have a better understanding on what exactly the colour of my
clothes will be instead of thinking last minute. Although I did use
an app which generated all my colour schemes together in groups
This was a much more sufficient way and I found it a lot more easier and understandable as I
would normally just add colours that were already placed on images so it made it better for me
to look back at when completing my production work. I then moved onto my layout plans
included in my pre production slides this was one of the main strengths for me in my planning as
I had raw out for each product exactly how I wanted my product to look and what type of fonts I
also added a few extra layouts which are back ups because I hadn't decided on which I liked
better for example in my two page spread. A weakness for me was I didn't include any labels
around my images which would have been a lot more helpful in my production (things like label
my colour schemes etc.) because they looked simple and not in as much detail as I could have
included. To improve on my layout plans I would add in more slides and create more than just
drawing layouts I would try put images together from the internet and fonts to create mock ups
of my final products because this could give me a better idea of if everything would fit well
together and it will almost be like a real version of my products. The effect this would have on my
product would be that my product would look the exact same to my layout plans but because I
only did drawing layouts this isn't as specific and my final products don’t look identical to these.
I then had completed both a contingency plan and health and safety
potential issues slides. A strength for my contingency plan was that I
explained in detail a variety of potential issues making sure these
involved both in college our at home depending on the circumstances
so therefore this ensured me that I was prepared for any issues that
could of happened when getting images or using the computers. I also
didn't spend much time working on these because I focused on only
typing issues which were relevant for my project because I wasn’t
filming anything. However I could of added in a range of issues that
don’t relate to me just in case as an improvement because then I would
have been extra careful. Moving onto my Health and safety issues a
strength was that all the potential issues I did list were relevant yet
again with my specific work and are all important issues which I can take
into count. There were many factors that I had come up with
preventions so I did have more time to focus on the rest of pre
production because I completed these quickly. A weakness to the health
and safety plan is I didn't include all the specific injury issues I only
managed to fit in the falling over in a car park which could have been a
huge issue not being aware of how to avoid these issues and could of
caused injuries. Overall, my planning has helped my product as I learnt
new safety issues that I wasn’t aware of and I created my own layouts
which I was able to copy a similar outcome for my final that was less
time consuming and I had also been able to find out the type of colour
schemes I like and don’t like and what type of style is needed for a
specific image style, planning has helped me put together the main
parts to my products and given me multiple new ideas to chose from.
Time Management
I managed my time well by using the schedule which was included with the proposal
I filled out wat I would complete each week or over two weeks and once I had
completed the specific tasks, I then crossed out those tasks. A strength from this was
it did keep me in track, and I made sure I was trying to complete the PowerPoints in
the order instead of completing half and then leaving it until the last minute.
Another bonus was that I did complete all my work on time even though I did have
complications at the start of this project with my computer and I actually just
managed to finish my production work on the submission day. Which was a bit of a
weakness because that meant I wouldn't have much time to add anything else or
improve more parts, although I did improve a few PowerPoints but didn't get round
to getting any more feedback. My schedule did help me however some days I did
struggle to stick to it sometimes with my production part because I would try to
complete two products all at the same time which I soon realised made it even more
time consuming and I had to stick to one product at a time as I was worried about
not having the time that I needed.
I believe some of my products would have improved if I did have additional
time especially with my website because I would have added more pages
to it for example a full Instagram shop on its own page instead of all on one
because it can look too crowded, I would also have taken more pictures to
fit into my website because I did want to include more than what I had
actually taken. Another improvement I would have made would be with
my front cover magazine I would look back on it and maybe add a few
more fonts or even create a poster etc. for a few more than just 3 products
and maybe have added more than just one image. Within the magazine I
could have used the spare time to make a contents page for my audience
so they an find each page more easily and it would look more professional.
Technical Qualities EXISTING
MY FINAL
Similarities:
• Both the two-page spreads have similar layouts such
as the text is on the left page and the paragraphs are
laid out the same with small spaces between each
other. They then both have a larger image on the right
which stands out a lot as they both are big and the
full page.
• They also have speech marks of when the celebrity is
talking included in the paragraphs.
• Large font on the left page which stands out a lot and
something which I noticed first.
Differences:
• I have included more than just one image for my
two-page spread whereas the existing product only
has one main image which looks simpler.
• Colour schemes are different as I have a mixture of
3 colours whereas the existing has only used black
for every part of their font.
• My final piece has editing on the right page which
looks more creative and engaging.
• Smaller details like page numbers and Instagram
social handles which I have included.
EXISTING FRONT COVER
MY FINAL FRONT COVER Similarities:
• Both magazine front cover have
all the text surrounding the
image of a model which shows
that these magazines want their
audience to focus on the main
image first then the text.
• They also have one larger text
at the bottom which is simple
words and they have only this
text near the bottom.
• A few similar colour schemes of
white and black which are
popular colours and mix well
with any other colour schemes.
• With both magazines the
masthead is behind the model
which indicates the focus to the
model more than the fashion
label.
• Similar fonts used especially
with the masthead as sans serif
and serif are popular fonts
which are used a lot.
• Mise en scene of the model's
facial expression are both
serious and Posey.
Differences:
• My final cover shows the barcode on the front near the bottom whereas the
existing one doesn’t show any or any dates of when the magazine came out.
• The images have different locations, and the mise en scene of the model's
body languages are in different positions (stood up and sat down).
• I included a pug shape on my front cover to make my text stand out more
whereas the existing product doesn't include this.
Similarities:
• The exact same colour scheme throughout both
websites black and white and have the same colour
scheme of the main title which is in black as these
are a popular mix.
• Also have similar editing images such as the opacity
shadows and the image of the models being flipped
around as shown below, this is very creative and use
commonly within websites. And I did talk about this
website in my existing products (research
PowerPoint) how I loved the edited pictures and they
inspired me.
• Both include an Instagram shop which has a range of
images in the same layout of square images at the
bottom of the main shop page which is great to look
more into the social media of the clothing lines.
Differences:
• They have different labels used at the top of the
website page The Kript seems to have a lot more
pages which you can click on whereas mine doesn’t
include as much.
• The font choice for the brand name is a bit
different as The Kript has a creative line under the
K whereas mine is simple.
• When you click to shop the layout of my images are
also different as you slide to see more of my
images whereas with The Kirpt you scroll
downwards for more.
• I also noticed they have different animations when
you first open the website and the discounts at the
top continuously slide across repeatably on The
Kript website as mine don’t move.
EXISTING
MY FINAL
Aesthetic Qualities
For my two-page spread I created one page which featured a celebrity, and the other page was an image I put together
of the model advertising the. Clothing brand I was happy with my outcome, and I think my work looked good because I
matched my colour schemes together and was using photoshop to edit the images the pages also look professional, and
I included detailed text but also a few images to even out the double page spread these were strengths for me. I also
liked the outcome to my style edit page (on the right) because the use of the opacity shadows I created made the page
look a lot more interesting and stood out to me a lot. Another strengths was that within my preproduction planning I
had drawn a layout that looks exactly like my outcome which is what I wanted, and I had also followed on from my
research when I did experiments of creating shadows which I produced in this outcome which was a huge aim for me
.However, through the process I believe I did have a few weaknesses such as I struggled with my layout because I didn’t
know how they are in other magazines so at first I had it in the wrong type of layout I did fix this but it was time
consuming because I had to copy and paste a lot of the text and re write text which I had accidently deleted. Another
weakness was fitting images onto my left-hand side page because I did include a lot of text, I only managed to fit in two
images, and I would have liked more the size of the images also had to be small so my font wouldn’t mess up and I
Had already used a full page of just my three other images.
This would be something I would improve on is by adding
more images to do this I would either create another two-
page spread or on the right side of my page I would not
have a full image covering it and add a lot more images
and spread out the text. Another improvement I would
make is the ‘Kendall ray talks’ font because I think this
looks out of place with the choice of colour scheme I used
therefore I would improve this by changing the colour
scheme and maybe separating the font rather than it all
just being in one line because I had to squeeze this font in
as I do have a lot of text covering the whole page. Overall, I
believe my work looks creative and turned out just how I
had planned.
• The second product I created was a magazine cover which fits with my two-page spread for this I used one image
with text surrounding it. Strengths to this was that I loved the image which I chose because it wasn’t just a plain
image it had a good background, and I changed the brightness levels and exposure which made my image stand out
even more the image is clear and large for my audience to see it. Another strength was my choice of colour
schemes again I chose to colour coordinate with pink, white and black and using the blending tools which created
glows on my text which turned out to look professional with shadows. I had also explored other existing magazines,
and I noticed a lot of the covers have the masthead behind the model which then gave me the idea to have this on
my magazine because it indicates the main focus to the magazine which my audience will look at my model first. As
I mentioned with my two-page spread, I also produced the exact same cover to what I had draw a plan of included
in my preproduction which was a main goal to me as I spent a lot of my time with my planning.
A weakness from my outcome would be I think I had abit too much font
surrounding the model which cause it to look overcrowded and I didn’t
really try to spread the fonts out they all look quite close together with
larger caps which I could have filled in this would be one of my
improvements and I would do this by either getting rid of unnecessary
fonts or making my fonts a bit smaller and spread them out evenly.
Another weakness that occurred was I struggled to put my fonts near the
top of the page because of my background and that part was the lightest
part so adding text would make it a lot harder for my audience to read it. I
would also have this as an improvement because it resulted in me having
to have most of my text near the bottom of the page and I would do this by
planning out a better location which I know I will be able to add text on
any part of the page (for example a plain full wall background).Overall, I
think my magazine cover is good and I am happy with my outcome I do
think it is creative but if I had more time I could have improved on it to
make it look a lot more creative and not just like an ordinary magazine
cover.
• My last product was the website which was my favourite
product which I have created I believe it looked good and
and just as professional and realistic to an actual clothing
line website I made it look very creative by editing most of
my pictures which were shown on the main pages this was
a strength because I know that my audience will find it
more interesting to scroll through and in general it looks
more detailed. Another strength was the layout choice I
had made which I created myself and just used a template I
added larger images which were easier to look at but also
included some font, so I had a mixture of both which was a
benefit. A main weakness to the website was when I made
some of my images abit larger especially on the ‘shop’ page
they turned out blurry and didn’t look as good as I would
have liked I also ran out of time to add any more slides to
the website such as other pictures and more about my
brand this would be an improvement if I did have more
time and I would add those specific pages in. I also would
have improved with the number of pictures I had taken
because I did start to run out as I didn’t realise how quickly
I had used the images with blank pages still left. I would
improve this by making sure in my planning that I take extra
pictures just in case I need them for back up or do an extra
photoshoot in my spare time. Overall, I am happy with my 3
products as I spent a lot of time on each one and my
favourite was the website because of my edits to my
images.
Audience Appeal
From my products the specific parts which appealed to my target audience was my colour scheme choice I
chose colours such as pinks, whites, creams and blacks because some of these are basic, but some are also
feminine colours such as pink which appeals to my female audience I includes these colours in all 3 of my
products especially with my fonts. I also looked back onto my survey which is included in my research
PowerPoint, and I did check a specific question which was fashion style related I noticed I received two
comments suggesting streetwear therefore I included a lot of clothing such as cargo pants and bagging wear
which would appeal to my specific audience these pieces were comfortable clothing which also appealed to
another one of my audience. The locations I used also represented streetwear such as in a carpark and
editing my images can apply to this type of audience who like the creative side to clothing. I decided to use a
female model for all my photoshoots because then my audience can relate to the piece of clothing as my
clothes are for women so they will have a better idea on how it will look before they buy the pieces. Within
my website I included an ‘Instagram shop’ which a lot of female audiences love the idea of this because they
can look for the latest influences or people who inspire them (other women) and find the exact piece of
clothing which they like which will appeal to my target audience.
Which also relates to the celebrity which was a women in my
two-page spread that also appealed to my audience as she
talked about the latest trends.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– Front cover is detailed with large fonts eye catching
– Website is also detailed with good edited images which
are creative and stand out
– Colour scheme to the two page spread matches well
together which makes it look professional
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– Adding more to the website with other options to click
onto
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– the choice of colour schemes are good
– Easy to read (large fonts)
– Detailed website with a lot of options to click onto
– I like the opacity change on the models
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Background to the two page spread is dull and plain
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– Font choice matches well together with the other fonts
– Website has a lot of detailed edited images which stood
out to me
– I love the colour scheme on the two page spread with a
full image and writing to equal it all out well
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– Front cover is quite crowded making it have too much
fonts, not being able to see the picture clear enough
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– From looking back on my feedback I agree on certain areas such as that my front cover is
crowded with a lot of text which I did state in my weaknesses this is something myself that I
would improve on because I didn’t like how full it looked.
– I also agree with the adding more pages to my website to click onto because I did run out of
time so wasn't able to add more than I would have wanted to and planned to.
– I agree with the colour schemes and that they match well together as I do like to coordinate all
my colour schemes because it gives a much more professional look to it.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– The only one thing that I would disagree with would have to be the background to my two
page spread that it is dull and plain because I didn’t want it too look too much as I had already
edited my models and added text with fonts so adding a background with just a plain colour I
think worked really well and made my models stand out a lot which is what I wanted.
Peer Feedback Summary
The main changes I would make upon my feedback would be the amount of text I added onto my front
cover because after looking back over it I did realise it did look overcrowded and a magazine cover is
mean to look a lot more settle which I would have preferred because I want m y background image to
be the focus and for my audience to not get too distracted from the text so for this, I would make the
change by having a lot more less text. Another change I would make is to add more pages to my
website because I do have a range of pages, but I think for the website to be even better more pages
would make the website become a lot more interesting for my audience and they would spend a lot
more time viewing my website. Therefore, these are the only two changes that I would make as upon
my feedback these were the two improvements that could have been made and I also have mentioned
that I would improve these earlier on in my evaluation PowerPoint.

  • 3. Research • Within my research I was able to develop my ideas for my 3 products this included a lot of different processes which began with my existing products which I explored 6 products that I found from the internet a strength to this was I already knew the type of products I was going to explore as I actually own the magazines or I shop on theses websites myself so it was great to already know information about these and find out even more. Another strength from this was whilst researching I could look at the photography to the images which was the image style and how they edited the pictures in specific ways. Also the layouts which they use on the existing products which means it gave me more ideas on my layouts when it came to my pre-production. A weakness was finding the similar products especially with the magazine and the two page spreads because I didn't have a certain layout for my inside my magazine so I struggled with looking for products which did become time consuming and I had to come back to these PowerPoint pages and continue with my research. So therefore for my existing products I would have improved my research development and looked into a lot more styles and focus and the image style itself if I had spare time. I would also look more into existing two page spreads because I feel like I didn't really focus on this much and didn't get that much ideas from it as I struggled finding some. I could have looked into some physical magazines and took some pictures of them and explored them because the effect this would have on my product could of been that I would have a specific idea for my magazines layout meaning that would have been less time consuming. research which was a strength for me. I also used the idea of the angles that the existing product had of the models and were to place them on the page and the idea of 3 models in one picture. This part of my research helped my products after looking at the existing products I knew exactly which parts I wanted to then include in my own product which I had just mentioned, and this was a success because I did end up including these aspects. Existing product My product From one of my existing products compared to my own product (half of my two page spread) you can see that I used the idea of the shadow look from my research which was created from Photoshop and I stuck with this idea because it links with my
  • 4. • Also, within my research I explored my primary audience which I did by conducting both a survey and an interview. With my survey I wasn’t really satisficed with my results which was the main weakness to this because I had only received 7 results and I did want to at least head for over 20 because then I could of compared the results and get a range of opinions from a similar audience. Before I published my survey in my research, I had stated that I only wanted a similar audience to vote (which is a female audience) but I had some how managed to have one male who ad completed my survey which was another weakness because this wouldn't really help me much to relate towards my product. Although I had a few weaknesses a strength to my survey was the type of questions which I used even though I had a small amount of response's I still managed to get a few ideas from the questions such as what their fashion styles is or what they think the current trends are so I was then able to related my product to these trends and use some clothes which was their type of style in production and my initials plans (which I created a mood board of what styles I liked). For my survey I believe I could have definitely improved how I conducted it because I didn't’ really get the survey out there for example I could have put this on social media for a larger base to view it, or post it on teams so other people can reach it and share it on. This would influence my survey because I would have collected a lot more responses and would have a better understanding to what I need to include so it would appeal towards my specific audience type. Included in my primary research because of the result to my survey I decided to go ahead with an interview to see if I could get a bit more information from my audience. This turned out to be a success because a huge strength was that my audience type applied towards my sister therefore, I didn't struggle with finding someone and I was able to get the interview done very quickly with no re scheduling or let downs. I also received good responses and it helped within my project because I had a much better understanding than before when I had just my survey, so I was more positive.
  • 5. • A weakness for my interview would be the number of questions I had asked I felt like I could have added a lot more detail into the questions to find out more information as I didn't have much from the survey so if I had added ore questions, I would have a lot more information to look back on in my production. Another weakness was I had planned in my research to write the responses down after I asked Abbi then questions which I soon realised was a lot more time consuming and difficult to keep up with and I ended up recording the interview so I could look back on the responses. For an improvement with my Primary Research, I would have looked into other ways or things I could create because I didn't have that much research from this that I felt confident with, but I didn't have enough time to look into more ways. • The last main part which helped me from my research was my practical research which I explored 5 small experiments the main experiment which was a strength for me was my second one which I used models and created shadows on the models using Photoshop. This was a strength because I had gotten this idea from my Existing products (THE KRIPT) and I had mentioned at the start of my research that I included this type of edit in my final products because of my practical research as I didn't know how to do this until I chose to experiment it therefore, I was glad I chose to try it out so then I had practice before I created the final Photoshop edits. I also explored the filter techniques which I looked into a few apps and Photoshop to add colour contrasts and changed the exposure a weakness from this was a struggled find apps which ad he exact filters which I was looking for such as retro and bling filters and on the mac computer it was also hard to download Certain apps. So, this resulted in me using Photoshop to edit a picture another weakness was I didn't like my outcomes and wasn’t that happy with them because I felt like I didn't get much experience from that experiment, however I did Complete this experiment quickly which was a strength, so I had more time to try out more than just two experiments and I also did manage to find one filter which I did include in my final products which was the ‘polaroid effect'. I was happy with this outcome but I did feel that it was just basic as all you had to do was add a border to the back of the image which was very simple and wasn really a challenge to me which I Would have preferred. Another practical experiment which I decide to test out Was creating both websites on different websites and compare the two to see Which outcome I liked better and which website I will use for my final products.
  • 6. • From this experiment I had a lot of strengths such as I found it easy to follow the instructions to both websites on how to achieve the perfect website because they were both helpful due to the fact, I haven’t ever created my own website before. I also had a success with adding in the pictures which the wix website had a few saved which I could use whereas I struggled with square space because they wasn’t that many options in general with font choices etc. • A weakness with the wix website was fitting certain images onto the scale the images wouldn’t look right and they all came out different sizes which was a struggle however there was a range of layouts which I chose from to help me began with creating a website example. In the end I did state that I preferred the wix website because of the range of edits I included and how well my website example came out. • Overall, from my practical research the main areas I would work on to improve would be by doing my research on the apps which I an use that will work and include the effects I want to explore in which would have helped me because I would have not been stuck when it came to adding filters in my final outcomes. I would have also maybe explored my experiments more and tried a photoshoot example just so I would have known what to expect or to practice some angles however I was going to Square space Wix improve this, but I ran out of time. This part to my research helped my product because I gained a lot of experience just by experimenting and learning new techniques with what I like and what I don’t like for example with my exposure choices to the filters. I also used a few of these experiments in my final which was the wix website and I used the filter Photoshop technique and the shadow technique.
  • 7. Planning Moving onto my planning a main part which helped me to gather more ideas together was the mood boards and a mind map I created (included on the initial plans PowerPoint)This part of planning was a huge success because gathering images together is something which I prefer than writing a full list because images give me more ideas especially with edited images because I can use this for inspiration. I explored more than just picture of people on my mood board I added a few website examples from brands and two page spreads as this gives me ideas for my pre production when it came to looking at layout plans. However finding these images was a weakness because they are mostly shown on social media (Instagram) and I had already decided to find them from the images section on the internet so it did take me longer than expected to create the mood board. I also created a mini mind map typing up simple things I wanted to achieve this is a strength because I was able to look back n this in production because I went into more detail on specific ways I wanted my background to be etc. However, a weakness was I didn't think this was as much information as I wanted to have in my planning because I didn't end up creating any larger mind maps with different ideas due to the time I had so therefore this would be an improvement to make more mind maps in more detail. Which would have an effect on my product such as I could have added more backgrounds than I put in the mind map (I only added around two locations) and when it came to my products I had stuck to my planning throughout the whole process. The next part to my planning process was the image styles , colour schemes and layout plans the image style was the part I did extra because I wanted to explore more into what I wanted my images to look like or what type of style I will be achieving or editing. A strength from this was I got the idea of ‘duplication’ from looking into these through Instagram I noticed a trend with this type of editing and
  • 8. I Liked the looked of it and I ended up creating this in my final products for both my magazine and website which was a success for me to stick to my planning. I also looked into the colour schemes which was also a success because at the end of planning I had a strong idea of what the main colours will be for each products I create. However I think I could have looked more into my colour schemes and labeled for each my backgrounds or clothes what the colour schemes will be which would be my improvement if I had more time and would have allowed me to have a better understanding on what exactly the colour of my clothes will be instead of thinking last minute. Although I did use an app which generated all my colour schemes together in groups This was a much more sufficient way and I found it a lot more easier and understandable as I would normally just add colours that were already placed on images so it made it better for me to look back at when completing my production work. I then moved onto my layout plans included in my pre production slides this was one of the main strengths for me in my planning as I had raw out for each product exactly how I wanted my product to look and what type of fonts I also added a few extra layouts which are back ups because I hadn't decided on which I liked better for example in my two page spread. A weakness for me was I didn't include any labels around my images which would have been a lot more helpful in my production (things like label my colour schemes etc.) because they looked simple and not in as much detail as I could have included. To improve on my layout plans I would add in more slides and create more than just drawing layouts I would try put images together from the internet and fonts to create mock ups of my final products because this could give me a better idea of if everything would fit well together and it will almost be like a real version of my products. The effect this would have on my product would be that my product would look the exact same to my layout plans but because I only did drawing layouts this isn't as specific and my final products don’t look identical to these.
  • 9.
  • 10. I then had completed both a contingency plan and health and safety potential issues slides. A strength for my contingency plan was that I explained in detail a variety of potential issues making sure these involved both in college our at home depending on the circumstances so therefore this ensured me that I was prepared for any issues that could of happened when getting images or using the computers. I also didn't spend much time working on these because I focused on only typing issues which were relevant for my project because I wasn’t filming anything. However I could of added in a range of issues that don’t relate to me just in case as an improvement because then I would have been extra careful. Moving onto my Health and safety issues a strength was that all the potential issues I did list were relevant yet again with my specific work and are all important issues which I can take into count. There were many factors that I had come up with preventions so I did have more time to focus on the rest of pre production because I completed these quickly. A weakness to the health and safety plan is I didn't include all the specific injury issues I only managed to fit in the falling over in a car park which could have been a huge issue not being aware of how to avoid these issues and could of caused injuries. Overall, my planning has helped my product as I learnt new safety issues that I wasn’t aware of and I created my own layouts which I was able to copy a similar outcome for my final that was less time consuming and I had also been able to find out the type of colour schemes I like and don’t like and what type of style is needed for a specific image style, planning has helped me put together the main parts to my products and given me multiple new ideas to chose from.
  • 11. Time Management I managed my time well by using the schedule which was included with the proposal I filled out wat I would complete each week or over two weeks and once I had completed the specific tasks, I then crossed out those tasks. A strength from this was it did keep me in track, and I made sure I was trying to complete the PowerPoints in the order instead of completing half and then leaving it until the last minute. Another bonus was that I did complete all my work on time even though I did have complications at the start of this project with my computer and I actually just managed to finish my production work on the submission day. Which was a bit of a weakness because that meant I wouldn't have much time to add anything else or improve more parts, although I did improve a few PowerPoints but didn't get round to getting any more feedback. My schedule did help me however some days I did struggle to stick to it sometimes with my production part because I would try to complete two products all at the same time which I soon realised made it even more time consuming and I had to stick to one product at a time as I was worried about not having the time that I needed. I believe some of my products would have improved if I did have additional time especially with my website because I would have added more pages to it for example a full Instagram shop on its own page instead of all on one because it can look too crowded, I would also have taken more pictures to fit into my website because I did want to include more than what I had actually taken. Another improvement I would have made would be with my front cover magazine I would look back on it and maybe add a few more fonts or even create a poster etc. for a few more than just 3 products and maybe have added more than just one image. Within the magazine I could have used the spare time to make a contents page for my audience so they an find each page more easily and it would look more professional.
  • 12. Technical Qualities EXISTING MY FINAL Similarities: • Both the two-page spreads have similar layouts such as the text is on the left page and the paragraphs are laid out the same with small spaces between each other. They then both have a larger image on the right which stands out a lot as they both are big and the full page. • They also have speech marks of when the celebrity is talking included in the paragraphs. • Large font on the left page which stands out a lot and something which I noticed first. Differences: • I have included more than just one image for my two-page spread whereas the existing product only has one main image which looks simpler. • Colour schemes are different as I have a mixture of 3 colours whereas the existing has only used black for every part of their font. • My final piece has editing on the right page which looks more creative and engaging. • Smaller details like page numbers and Instagram social handles which I have included.
  • 13. EXISTING FRONT COVER MY FINAL FRONT COVER Similarities: • Both magazine front cover have all the text surrounding the image of a model which shows that these magazines want their audience to focus on the main image first then the text. • They also have one larger text at the bottom which is simple words and they have only this text near the bottom. • A few similar colour schemes of white and black which are popular colours and mix well with any other colour schemes. • With both magazines the masthead is behind the model which indicates the focus to the model more than the fashion label. • Similar fonts used especially with the masthead as sans serif and serif are popular fonts which are used a lot. • Mise en scene of the model's facial expression are both serious and Posey. Differences: • My final cover shows the barcode on the front near the bottom whereas the existing one doesn’t show any or any dates of when the magazine came out. • The images have different locations, and the mise en scene of the model's body languages are in different positions (stood up and sat down). • I included a pug shape on my front cover to make my text stand out more whereas the existing product doesn't include this.
  • 14. Similarities: • The exact same colour scheme throughout both websites black and white and have the same colour scheme of the main title which is in black as these are a popular mix. • Also have similar editing images such as the opacity shadows and the image of the models being flipped around as shown below, this is very creative and use commonly within websites. And I did talk about this website in my existing products (research PowerPoint) how I loved the edited pictures and they inspired me. • Both include an Instagram shop which has a range of images in the same layout of square images at the bottom of the main shop page which is great to look more into the social media of the clothing lines. Differences: • They have different labels used at the top of the website page The Kript seems to have a lot more pages which you can click on whereas mine doesn’t include as much. • The font choice for the brand name is a bit different as The Kript has a creative line under the K whereas mine is simple. • When you click to shop the layout of my images are also different as you slide to see more of my images whereas with The Kirpt you scroll downwards for more. • I also noticed they have different animations when you first open the website and the discounts at the top continuously slide across repeatably on The Kript website as mine don’t move. EXISTING MY FINAL
  • 15. Aesthetic Qualities For my two-page spread I created one page which featured a celebrity, and the other page was an image I put together of the model advertising the. Clothing brand I was happy with my outcome, and I think my work looked good because I matched my colour schemes together and was using photoshop to edit the images the pages also look professional, and I included detailed text but also a few images to even out the double page spread these were strengths for me. I also liked the outcome to my style edit page (on the right) because the use of the opacity shadows I created made the page look a lot more interesting and stood out to me a lot. Another strengths was that within my preproduction planning I had drawn a layout that looks exactly like my outcome which is what I wanted, and I had also followed on from my research when I did experiments of creating shadows which I produced in this outcome which was a huge aim for me .However, through the process I believe I did have a few weaknesses such as I struggled with my layout because I didn’t know how they are in other magazines so at first I had it in the wrong type of layout I did fix this but it was time consuming because I had to copy and paste a lot of the text and re write text which I had accidently deleted. Another weakness was fitting images onto my left-hand side page because I did include a lot of text, I only managed to fit in two images, and I would have liked more the size of the images also had to be small so my font wouldn’t mess up and I Had already used a full page of just my three other images. This would be something I would improve on is by adding more images to do this I would either create another two- page spread or on the right side of my page I would not have a full image covering it and add a lot more images and spread out the text. Another improvement I would make is the ‘Kendall ray talks’ font because I think this looks out of place with the choice of colour scheme I used therefore I would improve this by changing the colour scheme and maybe separating the font rather than it all just being in one line because I had to squeeze this font in as I do have a lot of text covering the whole page. Overall, I believe my work looks creative and turned out just how I had planned.
  • 16. • The second product I created was a magazine cover which fits with my two-page spread for this I used one image with text surrounding it. Strengths to this was that I loved the image which I chose because it wasn’t just a plain image it had a good background, and I changed the brightness levels and exposure which made my image stand out even more the image is clear and large for my audience to see it. Another strength was my choice of colour schemes again I chose to colour coordinate with pink, white and black and using the blending tools which created glows on my text which turned out to look professional with shadows. I had also explored other existing magazines, and I noticed a lot of the covers have the masthead behind the model which then gave me the idea to have this on my magazine because it indicates the main focus to the magazine which my audience will look at my model first. As I mentioned with my two-page spread, I also produced the exact same cover to what I had draw a plan of included in my preproduction which was a main goal to me as I spent a lot of my time with my planning. A weakness from my outcome would be I think I had abit too much font surrounding the model which cause it to look overcrowded and I didn’t really try to spread the fonts out they all look quite close together with larger caps which I could have filled in this would be one of my improvements and I would do this by either getting rid of unnecessary fonts or making my fonts a bit smaller and spread them out evenly. Another weakness that occurred was I struggled to put my fonts near the top of the page because of my background and that part was the lightest part so adding text would make it a lot harder for my audience to read it. I would also have this as an improvement because it resulted in me having to have most of my text near the bottom of the page and I would do this by planning out a better location which I know I will be able to add text on any part of the page (for example a plain full wall background).Overall, I think my magazine cover is good and I am happy with my outcome I do think it is creative but if I had more time I could have improved on it to make it look a lot more creative and not just like an ordinary magazine cover.
  • 17. • My last product was the website which was my favourite product which I have created I believe it looked good and and just as professional and realistic to an actual clothing line website I made it look very creative by editing most of my pictures which were shown on the main pages this was a strength because I know that my audience will find it more interesting to scroll through and in general it looks more detailed. Another strength was the layout choice I had made which I created myself and just used a template I added larger images which were easier to look at but also included some font, so I had a mixture of both which was a benefit. A main weakness to the website was when I made some of my images abit larger especially on the ‘shop’ page they turned out blurry and didn’t look as good as I would have liked I also ran out of time to add any more slides to the website such as other pictures and more about my brand this would be an improvement if I did have more time and I would add those specific pages in. I also would have improved with the number of pictures I had taken because I did start to run out as I didn’t realise how quickly I had used the images with blank pages still left. I would improve this by making sure in my planning that I take extra pictures just in case I need them for back up or do an extra photoshoot in my spare time. Overall, I am happy with my 3 products as I spent a lot of time on each one and my favourite was the website because of my edits to my images.
  • 18. Audience Appeal From my products the specific parts which appealed to my target audience was my colour scheme choice I chose colours such as pinks, whites, creams and blacks because some of these are basic, but some are also feminine colours such as pink which appeals to my female audience I includes these colours in all 3 of my products especially with my fonts. I also looked back onto my survey which is included in my research PowerPoint, and I did check a specific question which was fashion style related I noticed I received two comments suggesting streetwear therefore I included a lot of clothing such as cargo pants and bagging wear which would appeal to my specific audience these pieces were comfortable clothing which also appealed to another one of my audience. The locations I used also represented streetwear such as in a carpark and editing my images can apply to this type of audience who like the creative side to clothing. I decided to use a female model for all my photoshoots because then my audience can relate to the piece of clothing as my clothes are for women so they will have a better idea on how it will look before they buy the pieces. Within my website I included an ‘Instagram shop’ which a lot of female audiences love the idea of this because they can look for the latest influences or people who inspire them (other women) and find the exact piece of clothing which they like which will appeal to my target audience. Which also relates to the celebrity which was a women in my two-page spread that also appealed to my audience as she talked about the latest trends.
  • 20. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? – Front cover is detailed with large fonts eye catching – Website is also detailed with good edited images which are creative and stand out – Colour scheme to the two page spread matches well together which makes it look professional • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Adding more to the website with other options to click onto
  • 21. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – the choice of colour schemes are good – Easy to read (large fonts) – Detailed website with a lot of options to click onto – I like the opacity change on the models • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Background to the two page spread is dull and plain
  • 22. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – Font choice matches well together with the other fonts – Website has a lot of detailed edited images which stood out to me – I love the colour scheme on the two page spread with a full image and writing to equal it all out well • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Front cover is quite crowded making it have too much fonts, not being able to see the picture clear enough
  • 23. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – From looking back on my feedback I agree on certain areas such as that my front cover is crowded with a lot of text which I did state in my weaknesses this is something myself that I would improve on because I didn’t like how full it looked. – I also agree with the adding more pages to my website to click onto because I did run out of time so wasn't able to add more than I would have wanted to and planned to. – I agree with the colour schemes and that they match well together as I do like to coordinate all my colour schemes because it gives a much more professional look to it. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – The only one thing that I would disagree with would have to be the background to my two page spread that it is dull and plain because I didn’t want it too look too much as I had already edited my models and added text with fonts so adding a background with just a plain colour I think worked really well and made my models stand out a lot which is what I wanted.
  • 24. Peer Feedback Summary The main changes I would make upon my feedback would be the amount of text I added onto my front cover because after looking back over it I did realise it did look overcrowded and a magazine cover is mean to look a lot more settle which I would have preferred because I want m y background image to be the focus and for my audience to not get too distracted from the text so for this, I would make the change by having a lot more less text. Another change I would make is to add more pages to my website because I do have a range of pages, but I think for the website to be even better more pages would make the website become a lot more interesting for my audience and they would spend a lot more time viewing my website. Therefore, these are the only two changes that I would make as upon my feedback these were the two improvements that could have been made and I also have mentioned that I would improve these earlier on in my evaluation PowerPoint.
