2. Idea Generation/Initial Reaction
• The location set in hotels, abandoned
theme parks.
• A woman abandoned in a forest late at
night and hears a ghost.
• Grave yard could be another location.
• Ghost could be a famous person.
• Hotels remind me of ghosts especially
when the hotel is either old or been
around since 1900s.
• A woman documenting her ghost
experience of a broadcast which occurred
in a well-known hotel.
• Thunder and lightning that night to give it
more of a realistic effect for my audience.
• A young boy ends up lost in a graveyard
and things occur when 5 different ghosts
play a game which messes with his mind.
• I want to include a range of louder sound
effects so my audience get the full
experience and that these sound effects
relate towards what I am talking about.
• Music in the background throughout the
whole podcast so the audience will now
wat sort of story this is going to be about
3. Story option
• After looking into a variety of different ideas in my previous PowerPoint I have decided on
the story which revolves around a women in a hotel and this will be the narrator giving
information at the start of the hotel so my audience understand before she tells her story she
will then tell exactly what occurred the night which she had stayed which is her saying how
the ghost made a lot of noises and was playing tricks with her trying to make her leave the
hotel room which used to be that specific ghosts suite hotel room when they used to act. I
chose this type of story because its very realistic and has happened before and it isn't
something which would be hard to believe, its also very interesting because it gives a head up
for future people who would be visiting this exact hotel and what to expect when you least
expect it. When she will be telling her story of the experience I will be including a variety of
sound effects which relate towards what she is talking about so my audience will get a feeling
of how realistic it is (almost as if they are experiencing it).
4. Existing Products Research
• Doctor who (audio drama)
– Analysis of characteristics and how you could use
them in your project
• Sound effects matched each time when every character spoke which made
it seem more realistic just like in actual films.
• A range of sound effects used.
• Characters were in character at all times not just with a serious voice for
example one of them did an evil scary voice effect.
• A lot of background music like powerful and mysterious music.
• Evil voices which created a villain type of feel towards the audiences
• I couldn't figure out a specific location maybe in a house because they have
suggested this being a family by mentioning ‘brother’.
• Very strange atmosphere.
5. Existing Products Research
• Haunted House Soundscape
– Analysis of characteristics and how you could use
them in your project
• I found this one a lot more harder to understand I think it is set in a haunted
house location.
• And a women walks in frightened
• This was harder to understand because there wasn’t any dialogue included so as
I only heard sound effects I didn't get much from this whereas I want to include a
lot of dialogue so my audience have a better understanding of what is going on.
• Background music was loud which was good and it matched the haunted theme.
• May sound effects some which I didn't really understand such as random loud
bangs of noises or buzzes.
• Singing involved and mumbling of a young girl is something I will included in my
own (gives a better effect).
6. Existing Products Research
• Millennium Falcon Star Wars
– Analysis of characteristics and how you could use
them in your project
• Doesn't include any dialogue which I prefer to have some sort of dialogue
because its much easier to understand.
• Does include images of the spaceship which gives huge hints as without these
pictures I wouldn't have been able to imagine what these sound effects were
actually for.
• The sound effects weren't giving much off and they were also quite which I do
like because you can it is background noise and I will be including this for my
audio project.
• It is quite boring to watch because its an ASMR and nothing is happening.
• Some parts have cool edited backgrounds which I like because it matches well
with the music.
8. Script
• Background music –tense
• Narrator you've never met ghosts as famous as the ones that haunt Velvet Springs Hotel
located in the centre of Hollywood which back in 1928 movie stars would tend to stay in this
hotel when filming and was known as their ‘second homes’ and had there own suites and
rooms. Janet Rose a guest at Velvet Spring Hotel documented her frightening and shocking
experience which occurred during her stay.
• Janet Rose-sound effects throughout ‘I lay in my bed and close my eyes with nothing but
peace. I hear a slight bang but brush it off because it could have been the people in the room
next door to mine but suddenly a rage of thunder and rain hits outside and the bang
becomes louder and my bathroom light switches on off on off twice I slowly raise up and hide
under my bed as I have heard stories before about how this hotel is haunted but I never
believed such a thing. I began to hear heavy breathing and mumbling Asif the ghost was
trying to communicate with me at this point I freak out as it felt Asif the ghost was beside me
I ran out of the hotel door and ran to the reception as I hear the door to my room slam shut
behind me with high pitch laughing. After that night I never visited this hotel again the
receptionist had mentioned that the room I stayed in was owned by an actor who loved that
suite.’
• Bang, breathing, door slamming, light tapping
