For teenage gaming magazines, bright colors and dynamic character photos were used to appeal to teenage interests in action games. Content focused on popular games like Spiderman. Kids' gaming magazines used bright colors and Mario/game artwork. Content explained games simply. Fishing magazines varied color schemes and photography based on target audience - natural blues for retirement fishing, greens for river fishing. Writing styles also differed - casual for kids, formal and factual for global fishing. Women's magazines used pinks/reds and gossip-style writing with celebrity photos. Large titles, bright colors, and flashy slogans enticed readers on covers across magazines.
3. Existing Product
The color scheme used in the magazine are large amounts of black and whites which allows the
magazines title and sentences to stand out more among each background since both black and
white are contrasting color of each other it is easier to draw the readers attention towards the
magazine.
The photography used in the magazine have character in very dynamic action poses which
appeals towards its teenage audience which enjoy a vast majority of action-oriented products so
having video game characters in action-oriented poses helps get the buyers attention and want
to buy it.
The type of content found in this magazine relates to gaming or more importantly game found
on the play station as the focus of the magazine issue is on spider man however the magazine
has other game that it is covering such dying light 2 and resident evil 2 which appeal to the
teenage audience as many teens are into video games so they will want to buy it because it
relates to that audiences interest.
For the front page, the text go's mostly over the background image or character however on the
double page spread the text mainly flows around the character or image.
The fonts used in the magazine is very sharp.

The color scheme used in this magazine is very bright with oranges and blues which appeals
more to a child audience as most products that a sold to kids use bright colors.
The imagery used on both the front cover and the double page spread as the front cover has a
clay sculpture of Mario flying above some enemies found within the game the magazine is
covering but also has official artwork from the game on the double page spread.
The writing style found in the double page spread giving the basics on the game like how the
power ups in the game work and what enemies that can be found in the game this appealing to
its target audience as many kids will want to know a lot about the game and how they can beat
it and want it in a simple format for them to understand.
The picture to text ratio is very formal as every picture has either a piece of text under it instead
has the text right next to it on the side.
The font used in the magazine makes the letters look 3d or are floating in mid air as they create
the illusion of the letter casting a shadow onto the page.

The colour scheme used in this magazine are very naturalistic with a large enthesis on blue in
particular as since its to do with fishing the colour scheme should reflect the place were you find
fish which is in the water.
The font style used in the magazine is very formal.
The writing style is very natural and smooth in a way of it trying to reflect someone teaching you
how to fish in person or how you can improve your fishing skill which can appeal to its target
audience as this type of writing style make them feel comfortable enough to buy the product
and read it.
The text to picture ratio is vey balanced however it leans more toward the text side o the double
page spread but leans more towards the image side on the front cover.
The photography used in the magazine set up like regular picture taken whilst the front cover
photo feels more set up.
The way this magazine make its target audience which are mostly men near retirement waning
to take it easy to read is because it shows on the front page other sections of fishing that the
magazine will cover to help make peoples fishing more easier meaning that the target audience
get more enjoyment out of their activity and a product is sold.

The font style used is very plain and formal which is appropriate as the magazine is more a less a
factual guide of fishes across the globe.
The picture to text ratio is very different from the one before as on the double page spread the
images or photos take more precedence on the double page spread than the text dose with it
being the same on the front cover.
The color scheme in this fishing magazine has more of an emphasis on green which make sense
as the magazine touches on fish found in rivers in forest across the globe.
The photography used in the magazine have a more set up feel to them with many of the
pictures over the water instead of a closer view you get from a camera with the front cover this
time feeling like the picture had been taken by a camera.
The writing style for this magazine is very factual and formal as the magazine is touching on
fishes found across the globe giving details on where to find certain fishes which attracts the
target audience which are older men entering retirement and wanting to relax and since fishing
is considered a relaxing activity and many in this audience may want to know what places are
best to do it which these types of magazines help with making the target audience buy it.

women which is the target audience of the magazine so using these colors attracts the target
audience into buying it.
The writing in this magazine is very eye catching with shocking short phrases such as “their first
public row” in big bold capital letters with the story's being told like that of gossip you would
hear in a conversation between two people.
The picture to text ratio leans more towards the picture side as the picture take more
precedence on the page over the text.
The font used in the magazine are very plain.
A lot of the photos used in the front cover and on the double page spread are that of celebrity's
which helps sell the magazines to its intended target audience which are women as they may
want to know what a specific celebrity has gotten up to in which the magazine can provide
meaning that target audience will buy the product just by seeing the images presented on the
magazine.

The color scheme of the magazine are mainly blues yellows, and reds which make the magazine
stand out more among other magazines as blue yellow and red are very bright colors meaning
the target audience of women are likely to see it and go check it out and maybe buy the
product.
The picture to text ratio leans more towards the picture side as the front covered in them from
top to bottom with some text around it the same with the double page spread .
The writing style of the magazine is very eye catching with phrases in big bold letters grabbing
the viewers attention with the writing style for the inside f the magazine coming off more like
that of gossip between two people which appeals to it target audience as most are looking for
gossip on what their favourite celebrity is up to making the target audience want to buy the
product.
For most of the magazine a plain simple font is used on both the front cover and double page
spread with the only time a different font is used is on the front cover one for on of the stories
on the magazine.
A lot of the picture used in the magazine are that of a load of celebrity’s especially on the front
cover whereas with the double page spread it cover on one specific celebrity.
