makes a good contrast and
makes the magazine stand
out.
The company name is in
bright red and is the biggest
text on the page, which
makes it recognizable
despite it being half covered
up.
They have names of over
movies on the sides, it has
something for fans of all kinds
of movies, which is the target
audience of this magazine.
The main audience
is action fans based
on the advert at
the top of the
product, also the
character in the
center is John Wick
who is a really well
known action hero
It has something to
appeal to the
secondary audience
by advertising movies
like rocketman.

All the colors stand out because
they chose white as the color to
have in the background.
The idea here would’ve been to
make the band stand out even
more since their primary color is
red, this also makes the product
more eye catching.
This cover only really focuses
on the band it features,
whereas a lot of other
magazine covers have one
band in the center and
advertise what else the
product features around
them.
The primary audience for
this issue would have
been fans of the band,
since the other featured
bands are in a small black
font at the bottom of the
page.
The secondary audience
might be general music
fans who want to find
new bands.
They lined the
members up so it’s
obvious to casual
readers who the
front man is.
It only really has one advert
on the front, and it’s
posters for wrapped tour,
which links with the content
in the product.
7. Existing Product
The primary audience for this
product are people who are
excited for the game that’s being
featured on the cover, so they
made the artwork for the game
take up most of the page, with
room for ads and promotions for
other games.
The picture here shows
that the magazine is
generally aimed at
people that like any
kind of games, since
they have the controls
for the major
platforms.
The name of the magazine
is still in the biggest font,
the normal color of the
logo matches the color of
the game, which makes
the name stand out even
more.
They left room for other
games to be advertised along
side the main one, so average
readers know that the product
is a general gaming magazine
that covers a variety of games
instead of focusing on just one
genre.
8. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
– All the covers have colours that stand out and are unique to that product.
In the logos for example each one had it’s own colour and unique font that
makes that brand it’s own thing.
– If they feature people then they’ll be in the centre of the frame normally
with a bright colour coming out from behind them.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• The use of colours were really well done and made the products look a
lot better, which is something I want to try and include in my own magazine.
• The idea of having multiple focuses is something I want as well, having one
main focus which is what’s advertised on the cover, and then having a few
other focuses which maybe cover a single page. It’s a good way of keeping the
attention of the audience.
