Working Title:
Population: One
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
16 – 25. My audience will be mostly male, however, some females will also watch it. This will be
aimed at an audience who like darker themed films, as my film will explore heavy subject matters.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Skills I have learnt this year so far are how to use a camera in order to get better quality shots by
changing the exposure, the frame rate, and shutter speeds to allow me to get a more cinematic
look from my films. I have also learnt
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept behind my project is a post-apocalyptic world where the human race has died out and
only one man is left behind, the last man alive. Being alone in the world has made him start to go
insane, writing things on the wall, and living a very meaningless existence. Eventually, the man
decides that he has had enough and prepares to take his own life. As he stands in his house with
a gun against his head he notices something out of his window… a person… a woman. The man
puts the gun down and runs to meet the woman who has ultimately saved his life.
For my concept I will need to research post-apocalypse movies and TV shows, studying what
conventions they use, and what I can take from them to use in my own film. I also need to look at
potential locations, and how I will dress the location in order to make it clear to the audience,
without using words, that this is set in a post-apocalyptic world, and that he is the last man alive.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
For production I need to consider what sounds I will need to create via ADR, and if I need to
capture any sounds during the shoot, as I aimed to use as little live set recording as possible in
order to make my film feel more professional.
I need to keep in mind lighting during filming, as I want the film to be fairly dark, I need to ensure
that the areas I want to be seen on screen are lit properly so they’re not too dark and I don’t have
to increase the brightness in post-production, which would make the footage appear grainy.
I need to consider what props I will need for my location in order to dress the scene as a post-
apocalyptic setting, and in order to tell my story without using any words. For this I will probably
use a newspaper to tell a variety of the story, “End of the World”.
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?
