Working Title:
Reset
Audience:
My audience would be a mixture of male and female 12 to 21 year olds, who are in the B, C1, C2
category, and are likely the Aspirers. I believe that whilst there would be a mixture of males and
females in the target audience, I also believe that it may mainly be aimed towards the male
audience as there are simply more things in this Short Film that would be aimed towards them
(e.g. Some Violence). I think that B, C1 and C2 would be the most likely to view this, and that the
psychographic of my target audience would be aspirers.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
So far this year I have learned a lot about how to utilise various different software in order to create
my products, such as Photoshop, After Effects and Adobe Premiere. The latter two are pretty
much going to be what’s helping me specifically with this Short Film, as After Effects may be
needed for some of the Effects that I would need to add into the project (if not that then possibly
the Green Screen), and Premiere would be needed in order to put the Short Film together after the
filming has been completed.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of this Short Film is that there are two people who are fighting, one of them is
constantly dodging whilst the other is attacking them with a weapon, the one dodging would try to
get around them in order to take the weapon from their hand, however they would stumble and be
sliced across the chest. They would then somehow reset (Time Travel) back to before the fight
began, however this time he would be aware of what happened beforehand and would do things
slightly different, eventually succeeding in dodging once again, before taking his opponents
weapon and forcing win to surrender, ensuring that whatever happened the first time around didn’t
happen again. I will need to conduct some more research into this before I start making this, as I
need to look at some more examples of similar Short Films in order to see what they did with
theirs, looking at some other sources of media that use the concept of Time Travelling/Resetting
could also be helpful, as this would mean that I would have as much information as possible
before I would begin Production on this.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
If I am to utilise everything in my idea to the fullest extent that it could possibly be, I would possibly
need to use the Green Screen in order to add in the Special Effects properly, as while this could be
done using Adobe After Effects, I feel like using the Green Screen could be better because then
the special effects could be used as a proper background, making it so that it actually looks like the
protagonist is actually travelling backwards through time, rather than them being a part of the
distortion. However, if After Effects can do a good enough job with this, or if I find a royalty-free
effect that is suitable for this, then perhaps the Green Screen may not be needed, however if these
don’t work, then the Green Screen would be required. Sound Effects would also need to be added
in after filming has finished, as some sounds would not be able to be replicated during filming,
such as a sound effect for resetting, and one for the weapon hitting the protagonist.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate the work by comparing it to at least 3 similar short films in order to make sure
that everything that I have included is not only correct in terms of the filming, but also in terms of
the ‘genres’.
