This project focuses on producing and distributing online hip hop content. The creator is passionate about hip hop music and wants to build upon a previous music-related project. The goal is to create an alternative brand that reflects urban hip hop culture through a range of products with different tones and styles, while maintaining a sleek professional look. Influences include a piece that has a hard-hitting raw feeling, with the aim of experimenting tonally while not replicating directly.
1. Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
My project focuseson the productionandonline
distributionof content revolvingaroundthe genre
of Hip Hop
Why have youdecided to makeit? I havedecided tomake this as it is a subject I am
passionateabout. Alsowill be a
continuation/reconstructionofa previousproduct
which I created previously.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
This project is importanttome as I have been
involvedwith the music scene in my area and I am
passionateaboutthe genre of Hip Hopand the
creation of a brandwith multiple products
Outline someof the initial influences onyour
idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isn’t justa paperbased
activity)
A major influence to my piece will be “Spit Gold
UnderAn Empire” by Emily Kai Brock. This is due
to its effect that it has onthe audience by being
hard hittingand raw feeling. I donot want to
replicate this piece in anyway however the toneof
the piece is somethingthatI would like to
experiment with.
Another influence of thisproject wouldbe a
previousmusic related project I created called
Rap Out. This was a project which I wanted to lead
along a similar direction however ended quite
differently; beinga collection of foundfootage
insteadof an insightfulprofile on a person. From
this, I have learned what direction I would like to
take thisnew project now that I have more time,
knowledge andexperience to do so.
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I am creating my project exclusively for people
interested in Hip Hop. I wouldlike my Rap Outto
be an alternative to otherbiased brandswhich
have becomestale with the inclusionof pop
culture.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
By creating a range of products, I havefreedom to
create different tonesand moodsfor different
products. The brand overall will have a sleek,
professionallook whilst also reflecting urbanHip
Hop culture andthe reflection of latest trends.
2. Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
The professional styleI have chosenreflects the
attitudeof the brandas a whole; creating quality
contentfor online platforms. With the inclusionof
Hip Hop andurban themesthe style is made
relatable and applicable tothe relevant audience.
