5. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• For the covers of the walking dead comics they all have the same font but each one has a different
colour and its still recognisable no matter what colour is used the part that Is always repeated is the
style and name so each one can be different but still look the same. It’s the same with the Tokyo
ghoul books they both have the same theme for all but has a different eye-catching character each
time. In the comic strips the font is always the same for talking but bolder when a character is
shouting which is done in all comics and sound effects aren’t in a speech bubble they always are in
the scene with a big bold font. Another thing that is the same across different graphic novels is the
way the eyes are on each cover that focuses on a character their eyes stand out as if they are
looking at the reader. Using images like this convey a darker unsettling tone.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• It will influence my final product because I will use similar styles in my own work because of how
they stand out such as the keeping the same theme throughout for different volumes but changing
the colours, they do this because it shows the as part of a series. I will also use the same font for all
of my comic strips apart from shouting parts which will be in bold and sound effects that will be
part of the scene. The title font that I will design will be similar to the ones on the mood board as it
will be a brand for my product.
6. Informal Proposal
Current Idea
Concept The concept is a digital graphic novel that can also be printed the genre will be
apocalypse/ horror. It will be story driven developing characters over a few chapters.
Type of
products you
would make
• Graphic novel cover (A4 Photoshop)
• Graphic novel page (A4 Photoshop)
• Poster (A3 Photoshop)
What you will
need to make
them
Photoshop for the actual creation of the products
Google for finding images needed
1001Fonts for getting fonts
Planning PowerPoint for references
Audience It will be for an older audience for the ages of 15+
The target gender would be male with a social status of middle class and it would be
targeted towards the balanced psychographic. I will target this audience by having
my main character be a normal middle class man so it can be relatable to my
audience and to target to the balanced psychographic I would make the story be
about trying to benefit mankind.
7. Choices
Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this
project
Game design/assets • I have done this many times in the past
and have lost interest in doing it because
I have a lack of new ideas for it. From
experience it took me a long time to
develop characters so I think It would
take me too long to create anything.
Movie poster/cover • The idea I had for this worked better as a
graphic novel as I could be more creative
because instead of a movie I could make
everything drawn and wouldn’t need to
rely on taking photos of actors. I’ve
already complete poster and magazine
work earlier on so I wanted to do
something different.
