3. Research
• The strengths of my research was that it helped as It gave me an idea of
what story I wanted to make for my graphic novel and how I wanted it to
be laid out. It helped my product because they gave me an idea of how
other stories are done and how to make an eye catching cover . The
weaknesses of my research is that at the time I looked at different graphic
novels that didn’t all fit with my story I could have improved by finding
some better graphic novels that fit my own story that could have made my
final product better because I would have had more of the same genre to
base it on.
4. Planning
• The strengths of my planning was that it helped me get my ideas for what I
wanted to create for my project I went through other ideas such as making
it as a movie poser or as a game in the end I decided to go with the
making a graphic novel as that was the best fit for what I was trying to
make. Planning helped my product to become better as I had a plan of
what to do and what I wanted to work on such as how I wanted my title to
be displayed and the layout of my text on the cover and the way my
characters should be designed.
5. Time Management
• I managed my time well with this project I managed to get this done in
time I had. I think If I had more time to work on my production work i
would have made more comic strips to tell more of the story and I also
would have spent more time with the one I made because I would have
added another character but I just didn’t have the time to do so.
6. Technical Qualities
Similarities
• Both have white
outlines around the
titles to make them
stand out
• Both have a main
image showing off a
main character
• Both have an easy to
read layout on the
comic strip
• Both show sound
effects as text in the
scenes
Differences
• On my cover I have the
publishers logo while on
the similar product it
doesn’t
• On the similar product it
has 2 main images while
mine only has one
• The similar product has
the no box on one of the
tiles so it can be bigger
while on mine they are all
in boxes
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I think my work is creative with its
backgrounds and art style in general
as the background and character are
two different art styles. I really like
how I made the purple fog and how
it makes the rest of the scene look
mysterious especially where its
covering the silhouette. if I was going
to improve my work I would make
the background for the cover and
the comic strip different just to give
some more variety to it.
8. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my audience
of male because my main
image is a male character and I
used colours more associated
to males e.g. blue on the top
and bottom banners. I have also
appealed to a female audience
by using colours more
associated with females e.g.
purple on the coat and as the
fog in the background.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the simplicity of the cover because it gives
the reader some mystery as to what the comic is
about.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Make another comic strip showing more.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– You separated the art style, into two spate styles – e.g.
one style for the background, another style for the
characters – this being a style done in the officially
released products, making it look professional.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Possibly add more thing happening in the panels
rather than limitations in story currently provided.
– Also, next time, try and create your own art from
scratch – apposed to composing editing images from
found on the internet.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– Good name for the comic, both infection and quarantine.
– Great base design and shading
– Good backdrop
– Good colour palate
– Good story
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– A little too much blur in the background on title page.
– Maybe add a bit more dialogue.
– The silhouette of the person could have a little bit of a
design.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree with “it gives the reader some mystery” because I
tried to make it look mysterious with the colours that I
used and the lack of speech in the comic strip so that you
don’t know if the character is good or bad I also agree that
I made the character and the background 2 different art
styles because I intended to do that because I like that
style from professional graphic novels.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree with “The silhouette of the person could have a
little bit of a design” because the silhouette is meant to be
mysterious off in the distance not knowing who it really is
14. Peer Feedback Summary
If I was going to change anything from my feedback I would change some of the tiles in the
comic strip because some are un needed because I think it was too drawn out the part
where I used 2 tiles for him to hold a gun and shoot it and another time where I used 2 tiles
for him to close his eyes I think I could improve my piece because then I could create more
tiles with more content to move the story forward but there's some reasons I wouldn’t
change it because its supposed to be a slow scene with the extra tiles it creates suspense I
think so that’s why I kept it in.
