Commercial Sales Manager, Spenard Builders Supply.
Fairbanks, Alaska. 2003 - 2008
As the founding member, I planned and managed the development of the Commercial
Construction Sales Division for the Fairbanks branch. I was responsible for recruiting and
directing sales team as well as maintaining very high personal sales goals. Heavy
emphasis on estimating and developing competitive procurement and delivery options
for our customers. I worked to develop and implement state wide commercial sales
strategies with other corporate branches, developing partnerships that benefited our
company and our statewide customers alike. Through a creative approach and a clear
understanding of the sales, procurement and freight processes I opened up new
markets including sales opportunities for components and lumber on a national level for
their parent company.
Accounts Manager / Sales Representative, Precision Roof Trusses and Lumber.
Portland, Oregon. 1997- 2002.
Duties include roof design and estimating, contract negotiations, scheduling, dispute
resolution, prospecting for new customers and maintenance of existing accounts.
Working primarily with commercial accounts, I was the leading salesman for this
company. As the top performer I was personally responsible for approximately 200
customer accounts, with as many as 50 jobs in progress simultaneously. I worked closely

with contractors, architects, engineers, government agencies, and homeowners, and was
often called upon as an expert in my field to solve difficult design issues. This position
required a very high degree of attention to detail while also requiring a large volume of
activity, a difficult combination in which I excelled. When I began working for this
company, they had a very minor position in commercial sales for the Portland market,
when I left after 5 years, commercial sales accounted for close to 60 percent of their
business.
- Various Jobs in the Construction Industry. Throughout my 40 years in the
construction industry I have enjoyed a wide variety of residential and commercial
construction experiences. These include projects such as the construction of schools in
native Eskimo villages in the Beaufort Sea of Alaska, to teaching American construction
techniques in Tokyo Japan. The specifics of these many jobs are too numerous to list
here, but each one has helped me develop the skills and expertise I currently possess.
- Additional Skills
Extensive experience in the use of computer software such as Excel, Microsoft Word,
Mitek- Design, Engineering, and CAD software for Pre-Fabricated Truss production, and
Alpine Design and Engineering for Trusses program.
