2. Introduction
To successfully complete a new or revised course requires
collaboration among many roles at the university. As a course
writer, it is important to understand the value that each of these
roles contributes to the process.

3. Academic Program Director and Academic Discipline Director
Depending on the course, either an Academic Program Director
(APD) or an Academic Discipline Director (ADD) leads the course
revision. The director provides the vision for the course, monitors
the progress, gives feedback, and approves the final product.
4. Course Writer
A Course Writer (CW) is the academically-qualified subject matter
expert who is responsible for writing the content in the course.
Other responsibilities include regular meetings with other
stakeholders (IDs, ADs) and shared decision-making throughout
the process.
5. Instructional Designer
The Instructional Designer (ID) serves as the lead designer of the
educational experience and manages the project. The ID provides
guidance and feedback to the CW regarding course activities and
CSU standards and guidelines.
6. Editor
An Editor's primary role is to evaluate the contents of a course for
grammar, mechanics, copyright, plagiarism, and format.
7. Learning Resource Coordinator
The Learning Resource Coordinator (LRC) is responsible for guiding
the textbook committee through the textbook selection process.
The LRC regularly collaborates with publishing companies to
determine the most up-to-date and successful learning resources
that are available on the market.
8. Course Technologist
A Course Technologist (CT) is responsible for the preparation and
loading of learning materials into the learning management
system. The CT position ensures all courses are built and
functioning correctly.
