At Delhi Public School, Nacharam - Secunderabad, we believe that there is no substitute for ‘Education Through Action’ and that
exploring people, places, cultures, economic opportunities, and technological advancements through travel, complements and
completes the educational experience. This philosophy matches our endeavour to create responsible and dynamic global leaders
and global citizens by bringing the knowledge of the world to the classroom as well as encouraging students to go out into the world.
These two methods are critical to create the three pillars of global citizenship based on empathy, understanding and International
collaboration.
In line with this mission, our students recently journeyed to USA under a program titled EdTerra’s East Coast Space Adventure. We
chose this program for its focus on exposing students to space exploration and technology at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. They also
visited natural, historic and modern marvels of Niagara Falls, Washington, D.C. and New York City. To augment the broader program,
we selected the Young Authors Program, which ensured students’ engagement and immersion. This Student Travel Chronicle is an
outcome of this collaborative and exploratory module that our students partook in along with the students of The Frank Anthony
Public School, New Delhi. It captures the entire journey in the students’ own words and photographs. It even showcases their learning
from the intense, ten day journey to one of the world’s most successful democratic nations.
I would also like to recognize the efforts of EdTerra Edventures; a company that is well aware of co-curricular and extra-curricular
goals and developmental needs of students. We acknowledge the contribution of their staff, especially their on-journey educator, the
Journey Mentor and Visa Assistance Services. Their professionalism has resulted in an effortless, safe and enriching travel experience
for each one of us and for the group.
Lastly, we extend a heartfelt thanks to the students, who participated in the program enthusiastically. Our willing learners had an
experimental learning experience and the beautiful memories will remain with them forever. This photo-book would continue to
remind them of the wonderful moments of togetherness in the US! Each parent may feel proud of this publication that will keep
reminding their sons and daughters of their achievement and capabilities, all life long. Happy reading!

TRAVELLING TO KNOWLEDGE
A journey to foreign soil is always replete with learning and excitement for any young and inquisitive mind. When the destination is
as rich as the East Coast of USA, one can only imagine the myriad ways in which Indian students may absorb and construct learning
out of the many differences and similarities that mark the cultures and people of these two great nations.
For EdTerra, an educational journey is about enabling students to construct knowledge through a meaningful encounter with a new
culture, without diluting their fun and excitement or restricting their wandering, curious minds. EdTerra achieves this through its
Program Development Team (PDT), which is comprised of both Indian and international experts. The PDT carefully designs culturally
neutral tools that enable students to meaningfully observe, record and articulate their impressions. These tools are deployed through
a process that encourages teamwork, meaningful discussions, recording observations through digital media and finally synthesizing
all this into a media product that showcases the ideas and learning of the students.
This Student Travel Chronicle, ‘East Coast Space Adventure’, is one such media product that captures the ten day journey of learning
of the gifted students of Delhi Public School, Nacharam - Secunderabad, along with the students of The Frank Anthony Public
School, New Delhi, to Kennedy Space Centre, Orlando, Niagara Falls, Washington, D.C. and New York City. This beautiful book serves
as a window into the U.S. and above all the amazing world of NASA for those students, peers and parents who could not be a part of
the journey. It showcases the intellectual and creative capacities of the students, credit for which is rightfully due to their parents
and school.
EdTerra Edventures would like to thank Delhi Public School, Nacharam - Secunderabad, for their efforts and support which made
this journey of discovery possible, with a special mention of the Principal, Sunitha S. Rao, for guiding us throughout the process of
finalizing and undertaking the journey. EdTerra would also like to thank the accompanying teachers, for their sense of adventure and
dynamism that the French call joie de vivre. Their energy made our jobs easy, and more importantly, made for a more memorable
journey for the students. We encourage you to read on and re-live the learning and adventures of these students through the words
and photographs that follow.
Sincerely,
Amita Bajaj

beautiful and worth the entire wait. On the Maid of the Mist, we
went close to the gigantic Niagara Falls and could feel the cold
breeze and tiny water droplets hitting our faces. We clicked a
lot of pictures in our pink “Maid of the Mist” raincoats and got
thoroughly wet in spite of wearing them.
After Niagara, we embarked on a long road trip to the country’s
capital, Washington, D.C. We explored the capital and got to
know about the country’s history through a very interesting
city tour; we visited the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Capitol
Building and Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. It was a very
interesting visit.
The last and most exciting visit was New York City. We were
amazed by the crowds, tall skyscrapers and hustle-bustle.
Times Square was amazing. Finally, the beautiful Statue of
Liberty was waiting for us at the end of the trip. Overall, we
had a wonderful experience in USA, and we would be happy to
return and re-live the memories!
We started our journey from Orlando. We went on a tour to
Kennedy Space Center and it was truly amazing. From the
beauty of the rockets to the shopping at Walmart, everything
was just fantastic. During our NASA tour, we visited the Rocket
Garden located in Kennedy Space Center and clicked lots of
pictures with wonderful models of rockets. Then we began our
bus tour which was awesome and we were completely taken in
by the beauty of aerospace science. We saw the Saturn V, the
largest, heaviest and most expensive rocket ever built and felt
overwhelmed. We also had lunch with an astronaut and learnt
various facts about their lives in the outer space.
Two days of our US trip were especially marvellous - when
we went to Disney World and Universal Studios. The roller
coasters there are some of the best in the world. The Hulk
roller coaster was the biggest thriller we have ever been on
and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is rightly called the
best ride at Universal Studios. We saw the beauty of the castles
in Disney World and enjoyed lovely rides. Universal Studios
was like a complete world of Hollywood Movies. We thrilled
ourselves in the amazing rollercoaster rides.
Have you ever wondered how does one of the largest waterfall
in the world look like? And where it is located? It’s the Niagara
Falls which separates USA and Canada. The waterfall was

was reusable, a vehicle that lifted off like a rocket and landed
like an airplane. It is a legendary spacecraft that has left its
mark on human history. The Kennedy Space Centre bus tour
was an educational experience. The tour takes you through
Cape Canaveral and various launch pads. We also saw the
world’s largest one story building – VAB or Vehicular Assembly
Building.
NASA is the biggest space exploration center on earth. It is a
perfect place of inspiration for those who aspire to become an
astronaut. Every year 1.5 million people visit Kennedy Space
Centre which makes it the one of the most visited places on
Earth. Space is the future of our race and this facility is working
towards making this outlandish and exaggerated dream
turn into a reality. Kennedy Space Centre is a monumental
achievement for our kind and truly embodies their motto,
“Failure Is Not an Option”.
“Exploration is the real essence of the human spirit” – Frank
Borman. The John F. Kennedy Space Center is one of the
centers of National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Since December 1986, Kennedy Space Centre has been NASA’s
primary launch center for human spaceflights. NASA was
started on 29th July 1958 and its main aim was to race with
the Soviet Union for reaching the space.
As we entered, we were greeted by an inspiring quote by the
35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, which
states, “For the eyes of the world now look into space, to the
moon and planets beyond and we have vowed that we shall not
see it governed by a hostile flag of conquest, but by a banner of
freedom and peace”.
The IMAX movie truly glorified the beauty of space with its
mesmerising graphics and vivid soundtrack. It showcased
the day to day lives of astronauts and what it’s like to live in
space. The movie also raised the issue of climate change. We
were also given the opportunity to interact with an astronaut,
Winston E. Scott over lunch, who not only shared his journey of
becoming an astronaut but also entertained questions about
his life outside his home planet.
The Atlantis is no ordinary space shuttle and it is the first of
its kind. This space shuttle is designed in such a way that it

Amusement parks are the one place where one completely
forgets one self and faces their worst fears like roller coasters,
water rides and heights at which one would have never
imagined to be, supported by hanging rubber tubes and small
wheels. Orlando is known as the city of amusement parks. This
city is filled with the craziest parks with rides that are beyond
imagination.’
Disney’s Magic Kingdom was true to its name – truly a magical
kingdom. All the rides there were amazing, each and every
one so different and so thrilling. The Disney parks are full of
rides, restaurants, fun activities, shows, parades and famous
Disney characters. Magic Kingdom is the park for imagination
and childhood stories. Magic Kingdom is the best park of all
the Disney parks. It is divided into areas called Fantasyland,
Frontierland, Tomorrowland, Adventureland and Main Street
USA. We all had a great time with our friends. It was like a
dream come true to be in these amusement parks along with
our friends. We saw a parade and a glorious show of fireworks
that were amazing. It was simply magnificent and one of the
most beautiful things we have seen till now. It was so nice
to see that the fireworks were presented in a very neat and
organized manner. It was the best conclusion to our day at
Magic Kingdom.
The next park we visited was Universal Studios. We were very
excited as we saw so many of our favourite characters and
stars from the shows and movies. We clicked many pictures
and brought back many memories with us. Along with that,
the rides just added to the day’s fun. There was a ride called
‘Incredible Hulk’ named after the comic book superhero
character, the Hulk. This ride had seven inversions throughout
the course of the 3,800-foot long ride. We were very scared but
we enjoyed it a lot.
Wewerereallyimpressedtoseehowwellthingsweremanaged
at both the parks, how meticulously they took care of safety
measures and despite the number of people that visit each day,
they still managed to keep the parks really clean. We hope with
our experiences we have been able to give you a brief idea of
Universal Studios and Disney World and it will help you plan
your visit there.

WASHINGTON, D.C. &
NIAGARA FALLS
We reached Niagara Falls State Park to see this natural wonder
of the world. Soon, we went for the Maid of the Mist. It is a boat
tour of Niagara Falls. We were given pink raincoats to wear
before we boarded the boat. The boat started from a calmer
part of the Niagara River and took us past Bridal Veil Falls and
the American Falls, and then into the dense mist of spray inside
the curve of the Horseshoe Falls. It was a spectacular view. We
wanted to take another ride but then our ferry, the Maid of The
Mist, had sailed away. The exit was through a souvenir shop.
The next day our trip was to Washington, D.C. But, before that
we went to Hershey’s Factory on the outskirts of Buffalo. We
took a tour of the factory and saw how our favourite Hershey’s
products are made. We bought some chocolates for our
families. We then started our trip to Washington, D.C. a 10
hour long drive. We slept mostly through our journey in the
bus. We even played games. It was fun and we soon reached
our destination.
We went on a city tour of Washington, D.C. Washington has
been the Capital of USA since 1790 and is named after George
Washington, the first President of the US, but it was declared
as the Capital of USA by Abraham Lincoln. It is a home of iconic
museums which gives us a deeper understanding of the history
of the country. Being the capital of USA, all the governing
authorities reside here. Hence, we saw the White House and
Capitol Building. We were thrilled to see the White House in
front of us as we have till now seen this iconic building only in
Hollywood movies. Other places we visited were Smithsonian
Air and Space Museum, Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam War
Memorial. The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is a centre
for research into the history and science of aviation, spaceflight
and planetary science. We saw spacecraft Apollo 11 command
module, the Friendship 7 capsule, the Bell X-1 and the Wright
Brothers’ plane. We then went to see the Lincoln Memorial,
an American national monument built to honour the 16th
President of United States of America.
Our overall experience of this journey was remarkable and
unforgettable. We made more friends and shared some
memorable moments every evening. We enjoyed this trip a lot.

NEW YORK CITY
NEW YORK CITY

After a long bus drive from Washington, D.C., we finally reached
New York City, popularly known as the city that never sleeps. It
is located at the southern tip of the state of New York. The best
thing about the city was the humble and kind hearted people.
The old name of New York was New Amsterdam. As we entered
the famous city, we were amazed by the sheer number of
buildings built in an organised, grid-like pattern. The contrast
between upper and lower Manhattan was quite astonishing.
We learnt about the three bridges that connect Brooklyn
and Manhattan – Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and
Williamsburg Bridge. We also learnt a great deal about the
history of the region. Next, we visited the tallest building in the
Western Hemisphere, the Freedom Tower. With a height of 541
metres and 104 floors above the ground, the observatory gave
us a 360° aerial view of New York City. Words can’t describe
the views. When we saw the memorial of 9/11 attacks, it was
truly an emotional sight. It showed us the dark side of this
prosperous world. The Central Park was a well planned garden.
The boat race shown in the movie, The Stuart Little, was shot in
the pond in that park. It was the best place for clicking pictures.
The beauty of Times Square is beyond what any of us had
imagined. The lights, billboards, street performers and the
artists all contribute in making Times Square a great place.
The following day, we went to the Statue of Liberty, the famous
gift given by France was a sight to behold. We took a ferry to
the island. We took quite a few photos around the statue.
ThetourofNewYorkwasanexperiencewealltrulyenjoyed.The
city of New York is very different as compared to the rest of the
United States. It is the only place we visited that was filled with
only skyscrapers. It really showed us how far technology has
come and what we as human beings are capable of building.
It is truly an inspiring city and it inspired us all to follow our
dreams.

Hi everyone! I am Moksha and I
study in Class 6.I like swimming and
playing basketball. When I heard
about this trip to USA, I was very
excited. I told my parents about
this trip and they also permitted
me to go. I was really excited to
visit the United States. It was an 11
day trip. Sohail Sir was our Journey
Mentor. During the trip, we went to
Orlando and stayed there for five
nights. We also went to Niagara
Falls, Washington, D.C. and New
York. Orlando was too hot whereas
the weather in Niagara,Washington,
D.C. and NewYork was chilly.
Hola! I am Muskaan Gupta, a 15
year old studying in Delhi Public
School, Nacharam - Secunderabad.
I love travelling, exploring places
and meeting new people. I had my
term exams before the tour and the
excitement of the trip diverted my
concentration from the exams. I was
very excited to feel the experience
of travelling with friends. The best
part about the New York City is
the Times Square as the place has
tremendous energy and had many
stores and I love shopping. It was a
wonderful experience and travelling
without my parents made me more
responsible and independant.
Hey! I am Nicole, I am 10 years old.
I love to dance and read books.
In Orlando, I enjoyed the most
in Disney World and saw many
cartoon characters dancing at the
Disney Parade. I was delighted to
see my favourite cartoon character,
Mickey Mouse. Cinderella Castle
was very beautiful. We also went to
the Universal Studios and enjoyed
various rides. The best was ‘The
Hulk’ ride. We also went to Jurassic
World. We enjoyed a lot. I also
enjoyed the 3D show of Spiderman.
It was a wonderful journey and we
all had a great time.

a delightful journey. We landed in

made my childhood dreams come
true. However, Universal Studios
was the best experience. Visiting
the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
was truly enchanting. I have been an
ardent Potter Head since Grade 8.
I also liked NASA’s Kennedy Space
Centre, especially the shuttle launch
experience. Niagara Falls was a
beautiful sight and Washington, D.C.
was very informative. New York was
simply breathtaking. USA taught me
to be more polite and friendly. I will
cherish these memories forever.

in the world, Emirates. EdTerra did
not just make us see places but also
made us learn about its traditions. I
felt very nice when I interacted with
the very friendly people. In short,
I am very impressed. Also, I loved
our visit to the Hershey’s Chocolate
Factory.
Hey! I am Sai Krupa Avaneeth Reddy

NASA has always been an enigma.
This excursion was like a dream
come true, thanks to my Principal
and team EdTerra for organising it.
Seeing in movies and then in reality
is a very different experience. Each
city that we visited has its own unique
and distinctive character. NYC, with
its tall skyscrapers, depicted a well
planned architecture,reminding one
of Ann Rand’s book, Fountainhead.
The natural beauty of Niagara Falls
was mesmerising. The culture of the
people, discipline, courteousness
and nationalistic feelings were very
impressive and merits imbibing.The
ethos of the trip was achieved as it
was a revelation on the technological
advancement and knowledge. An
unforgettable experience!
I am Daliya Santhosh,a post graduate
teacher of Chemistry, teaching
Class 11 and 12 for past six years
at DPS, Nacharam - Secunderabad.
This trip was organised by EdTerra
for my school and my participation
as an escort teacher has been
a great turning point in my life.
The 12 day journey to US, along
with my colleagues, my students
and our principal has helped me
in expanding my horizon and to
understand other people better.
I thoroughly enjoyed exploring
different places like Orlando,
Niagara Falls, Washington, D.C. and
New York. I created memories for
a lifetime. I feel that this trip made
me more confident and have helped
me to grow as a person. I thank the
almighty for blessing me with this
trip.

The trip to the United States will
stay in our memories forever. Every
aspect of our trip was taken care of
by the organizers so well that I have
been sharing my experiences with
everyone around. I never thought
that I would visit the places about
which I had only heard of. The most
special moment was listening to
the astronauts at NASA who shared
with us the facts about their space
journeys. The visit to the Disney
World and Universal Studios was
simply awesome. Visiting WDC and
seeing the White House was like a
dream come true. Being in NewYork
was like a cherry on the cake. The
company of our Principal Ma’am,
students and colleagues made every
moment of the trip extra special.
Thank you for this joyful journey!

  • 5. Sincerely, Sunitha S. Rao Principal (Delhi Public School, Nacharam - Secunderabad) At Delhi Public School, Nacharam - Secunderabad, we believe that there is no substitute for ‘Education Through Action’ and that exploring people, places, cultures, economic opportunities, and technological advancements through travel, complements and completes the educational experience. This philosophy matches our endeavour to create responsible and dynamic global leaders and global citizens by bringing the knowledge of the world to the classroom as well as encouraging students to go out into the world. These two methods are critical to create the three pillars of global citizenship based on empathy, understanding and International collaboration. In line with this mission, our students recently journeyed to USA under a program titled EdTerra’s East Coast Space Adventure. We chose this program for its focus on exposing students to space exploration and technology at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. They also visited natural, historic and modern marvels of Niagara Falls, Washington, D.C. and New York City. To augment the broader program, we selected the Young Authors Program, which ensured students’ engagement and immersion. This Student Travel Chronicle is an outcome of this collaborative and exploratory module that our students partook in along with the students of The Frank Anthony Public School, New Delhi. It captures the entire journey in the students’ own words and photographs. It even showcases their learning from the intense, ten day journey to one of the world’s most successful democratic nations. I would also like to recognize the efforts of EdTerra Edventures; a company that is well aware of co-curricular and extra-curricular goals and developmental needs of students. We acknowledge the contribution of their staff, especially their on-journey educator, the Journey Mentor and Visa Assistance Services. Their professionalism has resulted in an effortless, safe and enriching travel experience for each one of us and for the group. Lastly, we extend a heartfelt thanks to the students, who participated in the program enthusiastically. Our willing learners had an experimental learning experience and the beautiful memories will remain with them forever. This photo-book would continue to remind them of the wonderful moments of togetherness in the US! Each parent may feel proud of this publication that will keep reminding their sons and daughters of their achievement and capabilities, all life long. Happy reading! • 7. MESSAGE FROM EDTERRA MESSAGE FROM EDTERRA TRAVELLING TO KNOWLEDGE A journey to foreign soil is always replete with learning and excitement for any young and inquisitive mind. When the destination is as rich as the East Coast of USA, one can only imagine the myriad ways in which Indian students may absorb and construct learning out of the many differences and similarities that mark the cultures and people of these two great nations. For EdTerra, an educational journey is about enabling students to construct knowledge through a meaningful encounter with a new culture, without diluting their fun and excitement or restricting their wandering, curious minds. EdTerra achieves this through its Program Development Team (PDT), which is comprised of both Indian and international experts. The PDT carefully designs culturally neutral tools that enable students to meaningfully observe, record and articulate their impressions. These tools are deployed through a process that encourages teamwork, meaningful discussions, recording observations through digital media and finally synthesizing all this into a media product that showcases the ideas and learning of the students. This Student Travel Chronicle, ‘East Coast Space Adventure’, is one such media product that captures the ten day journey of learning of the gifted students of Delhi Public School, Nacharam - Secunderabad, along with the students of The Frank Anthony Public School, New Delhi, to Kennedy Space Centre, Orlando, Niagara Falls, Washington, D.C. and New York City. This beautiful book serves as a window into the U.S. and above all the amazing world of NASA for those students, peers and parents who could not be a part of the journey. It showcases the intellectual and creative capacities of the students, credit for which is rightfully due to their parents and school. EdTerra Edventures would like to thank Delhi Public School, Nacharam - Secunderabad, for their efforts and support which made this journey of discovery possible, with a special mention of the Principal, Sunitha S. Rao, for guiding us throughout the process of finalizing and undertaking the journey. EdTerra would also like to thank the accompanying teachers, for their sense of adventure and dynamism that the French call joie de vivre. Their energy made our jobs easy, and more importantly, made for a more memorable journey for the students. We encourage you to read on and re-live the learning and adventures of these students through the words and photographs that follow. Sincerely, Amita Bajaj Editor - Students Publication

We clicked a lot of pictures in our pink “Maid of the Mist” raincoats and got thoroughly wet in spite of wearing them. After Niagara, we embarked on a long road trip to the country’s capital, Washington, D.C. We explored the capital and got to know about the country’s history through a very interesting city tour; we visited the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Capitol Building and Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. It was a very interesting visit. The last and most exciting visit was New York City. We were amazed by the crowds, tall skyscrapers and hustle-bustle. Times Square was amazing. Finally, the beautiful Statue of Liberty was waiting for us at the end of the trip. Overall, we had a wonderful experience in USA, and we would be happy to return and re-live the memories! We started our journey from Orlando. We went on a tour to Kennedy Space Center and it was truly amazing. From the beauty of the rockets to the shopping at Walmart, everything was just fantastic. During our NASA tour, we visited the Rocket Garden located in Kennedy Space Center and clicked lots of pictures with wonderful models of rockets. Then we began our bus tour which was awesome and we were completely taken in by the beauty of aerospace science. We saw the Saturn V, the largest, heaviest and most expensive rocket ever built and felt overwhelmed. We also had lunch with an astronaut and learnt various facts about their lives in the outer space. Two days of our US trip were especially marvellous - when we went to Disney World and Universal Studios. The roller coasters there are some of the best in the world. The Hulk roller coaster was the biggest thriller we have ever been on and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is rightly called the best ride at Universal Studios. We saw the beauty of the castles in Disney World and enjoyed lovely rides. Universal Studios was like a complete world of Hollywood Movies. We thrilled ourselves in the amazing rollercoaster rides. Have you ever wondered how does one of the largest waterfall in the world look like? And where it is located? It’s the Niagara Falls which separates USA and Canada. It is a legendary spacecraft that has left its mark on human history. The Kennedy Space Centre bus tour was an educational experience. The tour takes you through Cape Canaveral and various launch pads. We also saw the world’s largest one story building – VAB or Vehicular Assembly Building. NASA is the biggest space exploration center on earth. It is a perfect place of inspiration for those who aspire to become an astronaut. Every year 1.5 million people visit Kennedy Space Centre which makes it the one of the most visited places on Earth. Space is the future of our race and this facility is working towards making this outlandish and exaggerated dream turn into a reality. Kennedy Space Centre is a monumental achievement for our kind and truly embodies their motto, “Failure Is Not an Option”. “Exploration is the real essence of the human spirit” – Frank Borman. The John F. Kennedy Space Center is one of the centers of National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Since December 1986, Kennedy Space Centre has been NASA’s primary launch center for human spaceflights. NASA was started on 29th July 1958 and its main aim was to race with the Soviet Union for reaching the space. As we entered, we were greeted by an inspiring quote by the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, which states, “For the eyes of the world now look into space, to the moon and planets beyond and we have vowed that we shall not see it governed by a hostile flag of conquest, but by a banner of freedom and peace”. The IMAX movie truly glorified the beauty of space with its mesmerising graphics and vivid soundtrack. It showcased the day to day lives of astronauts and what it’s like to live in space. The movie also raised the issue of climate change. We were also given the opportunity to interact with an astronaut, Winston E. Scott over lunch, who not only shared his journey of becoming an astronaut but also entertained questions about his life outside his home planet. The Atlantis is no ordinary space shuttle and it is the first of its kind. This space shuttle is designed in such a way that it

Orlando is known as the city of amusement parks. This city is filled with the craziest parks with rides that are beyond imagination.’ Disney’s Magic Kingdom was true to its name – truly a magical kingdom. All the rides there were amazing, each and every one so different and so thrilling. The Disney parks are full of rides, restaurants, fun activities, shows, parades and famous Disney characters. Magic Kingdom is the park for imagination and childhood stories. Magic Kingdom is the best park of all the Disney parks. It is divided into areas called Fantasyland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, Adventureland and Main Street USA. We all had a great time with our friends. It was like a dream come true to be in these amusement parks along with our friends. We saw a parade and a glorious show of fireworks that were amazing. It was simply magnificent and one of the most beautiful things we have seen till now. It was so nice to see that the fireworks were presented in a very neat and organized manner. It was the best conclusion to our day at Magic Kingdom. The next park we visited was Universal Studios. We were very excited as we saw so many of our favourite characters and stars from the shows and movies. We clicked many pictures and brought back many memories with us. Along with that, the rides just added to the day’s fun. There was a ride called ‘Incredible Hulk’ named after the comic book superhero character, the Hulk. This ride had seven inversions throughout the course of the 3,800-foot long ride. We were very scared but we enjoyed it a lot. Wewerereallyimpressedtoseehowwellthingsweremanaged at both the parks, how meticulously they took care of safety measures and despite the number of people that visit each day, they still managed to keep the parks really clean. We hope with our experiences we have been able to give you a brief idea of Universal Studios and Disney World and it will help you plan your visit there. • 36. We reached Niagara Falls State Park to see this natural wonder of the world. Soon, we went for the Maid of the Mist. It is a boat tour of Niagara Falls. We were given pink raincoats to wear before we boarded the boat. The boat started from a calmer part of the Niagara River and took us past Bridal Veil Falls and the American Falls, and then into the dense mist of spray inside the curve of the Horseshoe Falls. It was a spectacular view. We wanted to take another ride but then our ferry, the Maid of The Mist, had sailed away. The exit was through a souvenir shop. The next day our trip was to Washington, D.C. But, before that we went to Hershey’s Factory on the outskirts of Buffalo. We took a tour of the factory and saw how our favourite Hershey’s products are made. We bought some chocolates for our families. We then started our trip to Washington, D.C. a 10 hour long drive. We slept mostly through our journey in the bus. We even played games. It was fun and we soon reached our destination. We went on a city tour of Washington, D.C. Washington has been the Capital of USA since 1790 and is named after George Washington, the first President of the US, but it was declared as the Capital of USA by Abraham Lincoln. It is a home of iconic museums which gives us a deeper understanding of the history of the country. Being the capital of USA, all the governing authorities reside here. Hence, we saw the White House and Capitol Building. We were thrilled to see the White House in front of us as we have till now seen this iconic building only in Hollywood movies. Other places we visited were Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam War Memorial. The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is a centre for research into the history and science of aviation, spaceflight and planetary science. We saw spacecraft Apollo 11 command module, the Friendship 7 capsule, the Bell X-1 and the Wright Brothers’ plane. We then went to see the Lincoln Memorial, an American national monument built to honour the 16th President of United States of America. Our overall experience of this journey was remarkable and unforgettable. We made more friends and shared some memorable moments every evening. We enjoyed this trip a lot. • 44. 7 44 After a long bus drive from Washington, D.C., we finally reached New York City, popularly known as the city that never sleeps. It is located at the southern tip of the state of New York. The best thing about the city was the humble and kind hearted people. The old name of New York was New Amsterdam. As we entered the famous city, we were amazed by the sheer number of buildings built in an organised, grid-like pattern. The contrast between upper and lower Manhattan was quite astonishing. We learnt about the three bridges that connect Brooklyn and Manhattan – Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and Williamsburg Bridge. We also learnt a great deal about the history of the region. Next, we visited the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, the Freedom Tower. With a height of 541 metres and 104 floors above the ground, the observatory gave us a 360° aerial view of New York City. Words can’t describe the views. When we saw the memorial of 9/11 attacks, it was truly an emotional sight. It showed us the dark side of this prosperous world. The Central Park was a well planned garden. The boat race shown in the movie, The Stuart Little, was shot in the pond in that park. It was the best place for clicking pictures. The beauty of Times Square is beyond what any of us had imagined. The lights, billboards, street performers and the artists all contribute in making Times Square a great place. The following day, we went to the Statue of Liberty, the famous gift given by France was a sight to behold. We took a ferry to the island. We took quite a few photos around the statue. ThetourofNewYorkwasanexperiencewealltrulyenjoyed. The city of New York is very different as compared to the rest of the United States. It is the only place we visited that was filled with only skyscrapers. It really showed us how far technology has come and what we as human beings are capable of building. It is truly an inspiring city and it inspired us all to follow our dreams. I felt very happy to travel with them and I hadthebesttimeofmylife.Although we were thousands of miles away from our homeland, yet they made us feel like home by serving one Indian meal every single day on our journey. This work encapsulated all my experiences and I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

NYC, with its tall skyscrapers, depicted a well planned architecture, reminding one of Ann Rand’s book, Fountainhead. The natural beauty of Niagara Falls was mesmerising. The culture of the people, discipline, courteousness and nationalistic feelings were very impressive and merits imbibing. The ethos of the trip was achieved as it was a revelation on the technological advancement and knowledge. An unforgettable experience! I am Daliya Santhosh,a post graduate teacher of Chemistry, teaching Class 11 and 12 for past six years at DPS, Nacharam - Secunderabad.
