One’s destination is never a place,

At St. Thomas’ Girls Sr. Sec. School, Mandir Marg, we believe that there is no substitute
for ‘Education Through Action’ and that exploring people, places, cultures, economic
opportunities, and technological advancements through travel, complements and completes
the educational experience. This philosophy matches our endeavour to create responsible
and dynamic global leaders and global citizens by bringing the knowledge of the world to
the classroom as well as encouraging students to go out into the world. These two methods
are critical to create the three pillars of global citizenship based on empathy, understanding
and International collaboration.
In line with this mission, our students recently journeyed to USA under a program titled
EdTerra’s East Coast Space Adventure. We chose this program for its focus on exposing
students to space exploration and technology at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. They also
visited historic, natural and modern marvels of Washington, D.C., Niagara Falls and New
York City. To augment the broader program, we selected the Young Authors Program, which
ensured students’ engagement and immersion. This Student Travel Chronicle is an outcome
of this collaborative and exploratory module that our students partook in along with the
students of St. Xavier’s School, Rohini. It captures the entire journey in the students’ own
words and photographs. It even showcases their learning from the intense, ten day journey
to one of the world’s most successful democratic nations.
I would also like to recognize the efforts of EdTerra Edventures; a company that is well
aware of co-curricular and extra-curricular goals and developmental needs of students. We
acknowledge the contribution of their staff, especially their on-journey educator, the Journey
Mentor and Visa Assistance Services. Their professionalism has resulted in an effortless,
safe and enriching travel experience for each one of us and for the group. Each parent may
feel proud of this publication that will keep reminding their daughters and sons of their
achievement and capabilities, all life long. Happy reading!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Anuradha Amos

A journey to foreign soil is always replete with learning and excitement for any young and
inquisitive mind. When the destination is as rich as the East Coast of USA, one can only
imagine the myriad ways in which Indian students may absorb and construct learning out of
the many differences and similarities that mark the cultures and people of these two great
nations.
For EdTerra, an educational journey is about enabling students to construct knowledge
through a meaningful encounter with a new culture, without diluting their fun and excitement
or restricting their wandering, curious minds. EdTerra achieves this through its Program
Development Team (PDT), which is comprised of both Indian and international experts. The
PDT carefully designs culturally neutral tools that enable students to meaningfully observe,
record and articulate their impressions. These tools are deployed through a process that
encourages teamwork, meaningful discussions, recording observations through digital
media and finally synthesizing all this into a media product that showcases the ideas and
learning of the students.
This Student Travel Chronicle, ‘East Coast Space Adventure’, is one such media product
that captures the ten day journey of learning of the gifted students of St. Thomas’ Girls Sr.
Sec. School, Mandir Marg, along with the students of St. Xavier’s School, Rohini, to Kennedy
Space Centre, Orlando along with Washington, D.C., Niagara Falls and New York City. This
beautiful book serves as a window into the U.S. and above all the amazing world of NASA
for those students, peers and parents who could not be a part of the journey. It showcases
the intellectual and creative capacities of the students, credit for which is rightfully due to
their parents and school.
EdTerra Edventures would like to thank St. Thomas’ Girls Sr. Sec. School, Mandir Marg,
for their efforts and support which made this journey of discovery possible, with a special
mention of the Principal, Mrs. Anuradha Amos, for guiding us throughout the process of
finalizing the journey. EdTerra would also like to thank the accompanying teachers, for their
sense of adventure and dynamism that the French call joie de vivre. Their energy made our
jobs easy, and more importantly, made for a more memorable journey for the students. We
encourage you to read on and re-live the learning and adventures of these students through
the words and photographs that follow.
Sincerely,

OUR
JOURNEY
OUR JOURNEY
Often at times we stop and reflect on how a journey we went on has
influenced us. Meeting with the legendary heroes who travelled to
space, seeing your magical dreams come true in Disney’s Magic
Kingdom and challenging ourselves to ride on the thriller rides of
Universal Studios is an incredible experience. From getting wet
in the mist of Niagara Falls to standing high above the world on
the 102nd floor of the One World Observatory was spectacular.
While posing with the wax statues of our favourite celebrities
and admiring the magnificent vibes of the Statue of Liberty, we
somehow discovered the true essence of our existence.
Our journey started when we reached Orlando USA on 8th June
and then we took a bus to our hotel. Our NASA visit started
with a security check followed by knowledgeable and amazing
experiences. The Shuttle Launch Experience gave us memories
for a lifetime. According to us the IMAX movie was much more
interesting than Bollywood movies. Mr. John Blaha added extra
fun by sharing his experiences and problems astronauts face in
space. The second day was equally interesting. We went on a
sightseeing tour of the NASA Headquarters and launch pad sites.
On the fourth day we went to the best theme park in the whole
world. Disney World is the best designed theme park in the world.
Every night, the best fireworks show in the world ends the day at
Magic Kingdom. On the fifth day we went to Universal Studios, the
world’s most highly rated and biggest amusement park. You can
see all the famous superhero and animated movie characters. It’s
really a spectacular sight and you can take a walk into their heroic
world through amazing rides.
In Washington, D.C. we visited some historic places like White
House and Lincoln Memorial. The best part of our trip was the two
days we spent in New York City. We went on a city tour of places
near Times Square. We also enjoyed the ferry ride to Statue of
Liberty. We ended our heart warming trip at Jersey Garden Mall.
At last, we just want to conclude that a journey of a thousand
miles must begin with a single step, so why not take a few steps
more and roam around the world to be a part of every single piece
of history and culture.

KENNEDY

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER
“For the eyes of the world now look into space, to the moon and
to the planets beyond, and we have vowed that we shall not see it
governed by a hostile flag of conquest, but by a banner of freedom
and peace.” - John F Kennedy.
We are very fortunate, as we got this opportunity to explore
NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The center has a vast and huge
infrastructure. We saw launch pad sites, industrial areas, Launch
Control Centre and Saturn V Centre. We also got to learn about
Atlantis, the shuttle that has completed 33 successful missions.
It was the first shuttle to launch an interplanetary probe. We also
got to know that Atlantis helped NASA to see a comet smack into
a planet. We also gained knowledge about Saturn V, which is the
most powerful rocket ever and the only one to have helped carry
humans beyond Earth’s orbit. We had lunch with an astronaut,
John Blaha. He shared his experience of travelling and living there.
He also helped us with our questions about life in space.
Next day in Kennedy Space Centre, we watched the 3D IMAX movie
which showed us the enjoyable moments of living in an orbiter.
Next we went to the Rocket Garden, which is a display of rockets,
and space launch vehicles. In the case of Saturn V, later planned
missions were cancelled, leaving rockets for the museums. We
also took snapshots of the amazing garden. We also got the
opportunity to experience a shuttle launch at the Shuttle Launch
Simulator and touched a piece of moon rock.
We got a chance to attend a NASA bus tour. The bus took us to the
launch sites of NASA, which seemed as if we were transported to
a world which is beyond normal. We saw various launch pad sites
like 39A and 39B. We were amazed to see the Vehicular Assembly
Building, the largest single storey building in the world. In VAB, the
parts of a rocket are assembled to make incredible rockets.
We learned a lot of facts about the space centre and the upcoming
missions from Eve who was our KSC’s official bus tour guide. The
two days were a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which we were very
happy to be a part of. These moments are engraved in our hearts
forever.

AMUSEMENT
PARKS
Amusement Parks
There was a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in the air when we
visited the famous amusement parks of Orlando namely, Disney
World and Universal Studios. Disney World is one of the largest
and most frequented amusement parks in the world. It presents
a timeless tale of friendship, family and imagination. We were
surprised to see thousands of people enjoying in a theme park
catered towards children regardless of their age.
Magic Kingdom is divided into many areas and the area that
comes in as soon as you enter Magic Kingdom is the Main Street,
USA. This street is made up of various architectural styles from
the various streets of USA.
We entered Disney when the famous Disney Parade, consisting
of all the famous cartoon characters of Disney, was about to
commence. The hot temperature and blazing sun did not vanquish
the zest and enthusiasm of people present there. At the end of
Main Street was the Disney Castle, the trademark of Magic
Kingdom, which made every jaw drop.
The rest of the area was divided into various lands such as
Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and
Liberty Square. After visiting all these wonderful lands, we
assembled to watch the magnificent fireworks, one of the top most
attractions of Disney World. The roads were filled with people and
there was a lot of noise but as soon as the show started everybody
was lost in the world of magical fireworks.
The next day excitement was doubled as we visited Universal
Studios which was far more exciting and adventurous. Universal
Studios is a working production studio and has been used for
several movies, TV series, commercials and music videos. The
Hulk roller coaster was the most awesome ride in the entire park.
Some were extremely excited and some extremely terrified to ride
the humongous roller coaster.
Universal Studios features some of the most innovative rides and
attraction ever made. The Marvel Super Hero Island had rides
related to the Marvel superheroes like Hulk. The Wizarding World
of Harry Potter made every Potterhead go mad. The rides were not
only meant for the dauntless ones but also helped the people to
overcome their fears. We made a lot of memories and will cherish
them for our whole life.

NIAGARA FALLS
& WASHINTON, D.C.
NIAGARA FALLS AND WASHINGTON, D.C.
Cruising into the heart of the American and the Horseshoe Falls,
looking at the crashing water, taking in the gorgeous views, forging
memories that will last a lifetime, accompanied by the thunderous
roar of thousands of gallons of water cascading down the gorge
every second - Niagara Falls can only be described as breathtaking.
The rushing water is just mesmerising as it swirls and bubbles
chaotically. When the Maid of the Mist went directly in front of the
Falls, the mist clung to our hair and faces, drenching us with water
droplets. However, it was all worth it. The distinct smell of clean
and fresh air and the scenic beauty of the falls was a refreshing
experience. Just overlooking the Falls were the high buildings of
Canada, and connecting the countries of America and Canada was
the tourist attraction, the Rainbow Bridge.
After an overnight stay in Niagara, we were off to Washington, D.C.
With the sweet smell of chocolate. en-route to Washington, D.C. we
knew that we had arrived at the Hershey’s Chocolate Factory. As
we manoeuvred through the humongous factory. we couldn’t help
but get giddy like small kids. It was beautiful. There were millions
and millions of chocolates and we learned a lot about Hershey’s
history and its manufacturing process in a very interactive way.
There were chocolate figures talking and moving in very realistic
ways. We shopped to our heart’s content and then go back on the
road to get to Washington, D.C.
The next day, all ready and smart, we headed towards the
Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. We got a great deal of
information there. There were many information screens and
kiosks which helped us a lot. The Wright Brothers, the Apollo
spaceships and the different types of aircrafts were just amazing.
After that we went on a bus tour. Looking at the beautifully
structured parliament from the bus, we all were in awe. We then
saw the National Gallery of Art which was also very beautiful and
extremely well-structured. But the main attraction was the official
residence and workplace of the President of USA, the White
House. It was like a palace. It was radiating power and was really
beautiful. A lot of pictures and selfies were taken and we moved
forward.
At the World War 2 Memorial, we gave our tribute to the people who
lost their lives. We then visited the Lincoln Memorial. Abraham
Lincoln, one of the greatest presidents of America, sat on a throne
above which was written “In this temple, as in the hearts of the
people for whom he saved the Union, the memory of Abraham
Lincoln is enshrined forever.” After that we visited the Capitol
Building on foot and clicked memories that would last forever.
With that, we bade farewell to Washington, D.C. and were off to
New York for our next adventure.

NEW YORK CITY
NEW YORK CITY
The two days we spent in New York were really interesting and
exciting. New York City is the busiest and most happening place in
USA. We started the day with a guided bus tour of the city. Our tour
guide, Mr. Kevin was really friendly.
We also went on a guided tour through the childhood house of
John Lennon. It was so heartbreaking to pass through Strawberry
Fields, which is a landscaped area in Central Park named after
the famous Beatles song “Strawberry Fields Forever” in honour of
John Lennon.
We visited other places in New York City like Empire State Building,
9/11 Memorial and Central Park. Visiting the 9/11 Memorial
was a very heartbreaking and emotional experience. In Madame
Tussauds Wax Museum, we clicked many pictures with famous
celebrities like Michael Jackson.
The beauty of Times Square was beyond what any of us had
imagined. The atmosphere of Times Square was heart warming
and electrifying. Stepping on the concrete land of Times Square
was a dream come true. The video displays, street performers, the
fun shows and billboards make it a perfect tourist spot. This day
ended with a smile on our faces which gave the next day a happy
and fresh start.
The Statue of Liberty was an awe-inspiring experience for our
young minds. We learned that the statue was originally made of
copper but had oxidised and turned green over time. Riding the
ferry to Liberty Island and feeling the warm sun rays and the cool
breeze on our faces was the best part of our last day.
This trip was a memorable and knowledgeable experience for
each one of us. It was the best trip of our life and we were lucky
to be a part of such an amazing group and sharing lots and lots of
memories with our friends.

Hey! I am Vani Khatri. I became more
independent after this trip. Being a
pampered child, I was really afraid to
visit such a faraway place but now I
have become even more responsible.
The beautiful view of Cacoa Beach,
standing under Space shuttles at
Kennedy Space Center, shopping in
the humungous shopping complex
of Florida Mall, riding scary roller
coasters at Universal Studios and
sightseeing the gorgeous Niagara
Fallswasanamazingexperience. This
trip was a life changing experience
and I would personally encourage
everyone who has the resources to
definitely visit USA. We should inspire
from this nation and aim to become
better than them, as I see a future in
which USA is behind India.

“One’s destination is never a place,
but always a new way of seeing
things”. We embarked on this journey
to USA with this spirit in our hearts.
A visit to the dream destination of
Kennedy Space Centre was full of
knowledge amalgamated with fun.
Be it meeting an astronaut or visiting
actual launching sites, everything
was exciting. Under the continuous
guidance of our journey mentor Mr.
Nipun Malik, our students learned
various interpersonal skills. They
learned to be independent and to
behave responsibly on the trip. This
trip again proved that traveling is the
best way of exploring new frontiers
and learning from them.

Hello! I am Nishit Dua. I am an
optimistic person. I like playing video
games as I like living in virtual reality. I
like to see the sunrise in the morning, I
like to see the moonlight at night; I like
to feel the music flowing on my face, I
like to smell the wind coming from the
ocean. I like flowers in spring, rain in
summer, leaves in autumn, and snow
in winter. Through this East Coast trip
to USA I’ve experienced all of them.
Travelling to my dream country, for
me is much more like living my life to
the fullest. Through this journey I’ve
lived my life that way and I’m thankful
to everyone who helped me achieve
my dream.

Hello! I am Sakshi Sharma. Travelling
is the sole purpose of my life.
Every bit of the journey in this
short period of time revealed a part
of me that I was unaware of until
then. Random experiences at the
airport, cultural shock in a strange
country, conversation with a real life
astronaut, interaction with fellow
backpackers, discussion over life with
the local bus drivers, exploring the NY
streets, screaming ‘India’ on top of
our lungs when somebody asked from
where we are, associating a song for
each destination, packing bags in
30 minutes while moving from one
city to another, and many more such
things give me a different identity. It
has brought me a long way so far, and
I hope it will continue to reveal much
more of the ‘unknown’ me, not just to
the world but also to me.
A man spends his whole life busy
earning money to live a luxurious
life and every person has a dream to
visit a foreign country. My dream of

This trip had a perfect balance of

soil have been engraved on our minds
and I hope that this experience will

I am Manisha Sharma, a geography
teacher teaching in St. Xavier’s
School, Rohini, for the last 26 years.
Travelling is my passion. This
trip was an enriching educational
experience. Students enjoyed the
activities at NASA and the luncheon
discussions with the astronaut were
very interesting. Niagara Falls was
amazing. Travelling alone without
their parents, the students gained
confidence to travel alone and become
more independent. Statue of Liberty,
Disney World, Times Square and
Universal Studios were marvellous.
Mentoring by Mr Nipun Malik was
commendable. I am thankful to my
Principal Father Shaju Varghese for
giving me this opportunity to lead the
group and EdTerra for organizing this
trip so well.
I am Savitri Singh. I am currently
working as a teacher in St. Xavier’s
School, Rohini. I recently got this
amazing opportunity to escort
our school students on a NASA
educational trip to USA. This trip was
one of the best educational trips of
my teaching career. It was very well
organised. On this trip not only did the
students gain knowledge regarding
science and technology but also
learned about the geography of USA,
American way of life, their historical
background and their progressive
lifestyle. I thoroughly enjoyed this trip
and it shall remain etched in my heart
forever. Overall, it was an amazing
experience.

  • 4. One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” - Henry Miller “
  • 5. At St. Thomas’ Girls Sr. Sec. School, Mandir Marg, we believe that there is no substitute for ‘Education Through Action’ and that exploring people, places, cultures, economic opportunities, and technological advancements through travel, complements and completes the educational experience. This philosophy matches our endeavour to create responsible and dynamic global leaders and global citizens by bringing the knowledge of the world to the classroom as well as encouraging students to go out into the world. These two methods are critical to create the three pillars of global citizenship based on empathy, understanding and International collaboration. In line with this mission, our students recently journeyed to USA under a program titled EdTerra’s East Coast Space Adventure. We chose this program for its focus on exposing students to space exploration and technology at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. They also visited historic, natural and modern marvels of Washington, D.C., Niagara Falls and New York City. To augment the broader program, we selected the Young Authors Program, which ensured students’ engagement and immersion. This Student Travel Chronicle is an outcome of this collaborative and exploratory module that our students partook in along with the students of St. Xavier’s School, Rohini. It captures the entire journey in the students’ own words and photographs. It even showcases their learning from the intense, ten day journey to one of the world’s most successful democratic nations. I would also like to recognize the efforts of EdTerra Edventures; a company that is well aware of co-curricular and extra-curricular goals and developmental needs of students. We acknowledge the contribution of their staff, especially their on-journey educator, the Journey Mentor and Visa Assistance Services. Their professionalism has resulted in an effortless, safe and enriching travel experience for each one of us and for the group. Each parent may feel proud of this publication that will keep reminding their daughters and sons of their achievement and capabilities, all life long. Happy reading! Sincerely, Mrs. Anuradha Amos Principal St. Thomas’ Girls Sr. Sec. School, Mandir Marg Dear Reader, FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK Mrs. Anuradha Amos Principal
  • 6. I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.” - Susan Sontag “
  • 7. TM A journey to foreign soil is always replete with learning and excitement for any young and inquisitive mind. When the destination is as rich as the East Coast of USA, one can only imagine the myriad ways in which Indian students may absorb and construct learning out of the many differences and similarities that mark the cultures and people of these two great nations. For EdTerra, an educational journey is about enabling students to construct knowledge through a meaningful encounter with a new culture, without diluting their fun and excitement or restricting their wandering, curious minds. EdTerra achieves this through its Program Development Team (PDT), which is comprised of both Indian and international experts. The PDT carefully designs culturally neutral tools that enable students to meaningfully observe, record and articulate their impressions. These tools are deployed through a process that encourages teamwork, meaningful discussions, recording observations through digital media and finally synthesizing all this into a media product that showcases the ideas and learning of the students. This Student Travel Chronicle, ‘East Coast Space Adventure’, is one such media product that captures the ten day journey of learning of the gifted students of St. Thomas’ Girls Sr. Sec. School, Mandir Marg, along with the students of St. Xavier’s School, Rohini, to Kennedy Space Centre, Orlando along with Washington, D.C., Niagara Falls and New York City. This beautiful book serves as a window into the U.S. and above all the amazing world of NASA for those students, peers and parents who could not be a part of the journey. It showcases the intellectual and creative capacities of the students, credit for which is rightfully due to their parents and school. EdTerra Edventures would like to thank St. Thomas’ Girls Sr. Sec. School, Mandir Marg, for their efforts and support which made this journey of discovery possible, with a special mention of the Principal, Mrs. Anuradha Amos, for guiding us throughout the process of finalizing the journey. EdTerra would also like to thank the accompanying teachers, for their sense of adventure and dynamism that the French call joie de vivre. Their energy made our jobs easy, and more importantly, made for a more memorable journey for the students. We encourage you to read on and re-live the learning and adventures of these students through the words and photographs that follow. Sincerely, Christine Massey Sr. Manager, Program Development Team Dear Reader, MESSAGE FROM EDTERRA Christine Massey Sr. Manager Program Development Team

  • 12. OUR JOURNEY Often at times we stop and reflect on how a journey we went on has influenced us. Meeting with the legendary heroes who travelled to space, seeing your magical dreams come true in Disney’s Magic Kingdom and challenging ourselves to ride on the thriller rides of Universal Studios is an incredible experience. From getting wet in the mist of Niagara Falls to standing high above the world on the 102nd floor of the One World Observatory was spectacular. While posing with the wax statues of our favourite celebrities and admiring the magnificent vibes of the Statue of Liberty, we somehow discovered the true essence of our existence. Our journey started when we reached Orlando USA on 8th June and then we took a bus to our hotel. Our NASA visit started with a security check followed by knowledgeable and amazing experiences. The Shuttle Launch Experience gave us memories for a lifetime. According to us the IMAX movie was much more interesting than Bollywood movies. Mr. John Blaha added extra fun by sharing his experiences and problems astronauts face in space. The second day was equally interesting. We went on a sightseeing tour of the NASA Headquarters and launch pad sites. On the fourth day we went to the best theme park in the whole world. Disney World is the best designed theme park in the world. Every night, the best fireworks show in the world ends the day at Magic Kingdom. On the fifth day we went to Universal Studios, the world’s most highly rated and biggest amusement park. You can see all the famous superhero and animated movie characters. It’s really a spectacular sight and you can take a walk into their heroic world through amazing rides. In Washington, D.C. we visited some historic places like White House and Lincoln Memorial. The best part of our trip was the two days we spent in New York City. We went on a city tour of places near Times Square. We also enjoyed the ferry ride to Statue of Liberty. We ended our heart warming trip at Jersey Garden Mall. At last, we just want to conclude that a journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step, so why not take a few steps more and roam around the world to be a part of every single piece of history and culture. • 20. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER “For the eyes of the world now look into space, to the moon and to the planets beyond, and we have vowed that we shall not see it governed by a hostile flag of conquest, but by a banner of freedom and peace.” - John F Kennedy. We are very fortunate, as we got this opportunity to explore NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The center has a vast and huge infrastructure. We saw launch pad sites, industrial areas, Launch Control Centre and Saturn V Centre. We also got to learn about Atlantis, the shuttle that has completed 33 successful missions. It was the first shuttle to launch an interplanetary probe. We also got to know that Atlantis helped NASA to see a comet smack into a planet. We also gained knowledge about Saturn V, which is the most powerful rocket ever and the only one to have helped carry humans beyond Earth’s orbit. We had lunch with an astronaut, John Blaha. He shared his experience of travelling and living there. He also helped us with our questions about life in space. Next day in Kennedy Space Centre, we watched the 3D IMAX movie which showed us the enjoyable moments of living in an orbiter. Next we went to the Rocket Garden, which is a display of rockets, and space launch vehicles. In the case of Saturn V, later planned missions were cancelled, leaving rockets for the museums. We also took snapshots of the amazing garden. We also got the opportunity to experience a shuttle launch at the Shuttle Launch Simulator and touched a piece of moon rock. We got a chance to attend a NASA bus tour. The bus took us to the launch sites of NASA, which seemed as if we were transported to a world which is beyond normal. We saw various launch pad sites like 39A and 39B. We were amazed to see the Vehicular Assembly Building, the largest single storey building in the world. In VAB, the parts of a rocket are assembled to make incredible rockets. We learned a lot of facts about the space centre and the upcoming missions from Eve who was our KSC’s official bus tour guide. The two days were a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which we were very happy to be a part of. These moments are engraved in our hearts forever. • 28. Amusement Parks There was a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in the air when we visited the famous amusement parks of Orlando namely, Disney World and Universal Studios. Disney World is one of the largest and most frequented amusement parks in the world. It presents a timeless tale of friendship, family and imagination. We were surprised to see thousands of people enjoying in a theme park catered towards children regardless of their age. Magic Kingdom is divided into many areas and the area that comes in as soon as you enter Magic Kingdom is the Main Street, USA. This street is made up of various architectural styles from the various streets of USA. We entered Disney when the famous Disney Parade, consisting of all the famous cartoon characters of Disney, was about to commence. The hot temperature and blazing sun did not vanquish the zest and enthusiasm of people present there. At the end of Main Street was the Disney Castle, the trademark of Magic Kingdom, which made every jaw drop. The rest of the area was divided into various lands such as Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Liberty Square. After visiting all these wonderful lands, we assembled to watch the magnificent fireworks, one of the top most attractions of Disney World. The roads were filled with people and there was a lot of noise but as soon as the show started everybody was lost in the world of magical fireworks. The next day excitement was doubled as we visited Universal Studios which was far more exciting and adventurous. Universal Studios is a working production studio and has been used for several movies, TV series, commercials and music videos. The Hulk roller coaster was the most awesome ride in the entire park. Some were extremely excited and some extremely terrified to ride the humongous roller coaster. Universal Studios features some of the most innovative rides and attraction ever made. The Marvel Super Hero Island had rides related to the Marvel superheroes like Hulk. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter made every Potterhead go mad. The rides were not only meant for the dauntless ones but also helped the people to overcome their fears. We made a lot of memories and will cherish them for our whole life. • 36. NIAGARA FALLS AND WASHINGTON, D.C. Cruising into the heart of the American and the Horseshoe Falls, looking at the crashing water, taking in the gorgeous views, forging memories that will last a lifetime, accompanied by the thunderous roar of thousands of gallons of water cascading down the gorge every second - Niagara Falls can only be described as breathtaking. The rushing water is just mesmerising as it swirls and bubbles chaotically. When the Maid of the Mist went directly in front of the Falls, the mist clung to our hair and faces, drenching us with water droplets. However, it was all worth it. The distinct smell of clean and fresh air and the scenic beauty of the falls was a refreshing experience. Just overlooking the Falls were the high buildings of Canada, and connecting the countries of America and Canada was the tourist attraction, the Rainbow Bridge. After an overnight stay in Niagara, we were off to Washington, D.C. With the sweet smell of chocolate. en-route to Washington, D.C. we knew that we had arrived at the Hershey’s Chocolate Factory. As we manoeuvred through the humongous factory. we couldn’t help but get giddy like small kids. It was beautiful. There were millions and millions of chocolates and we learned a lot about Hershey’s history and its manufacturing process in a very interactive way. There were chocolate figures talking and moving in very realistic ways. We shopped to our heart’s content and then go back on the road to get to Washington, D.C. The next day, all ready and smart, we headed towards the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. We got a great deal of information there. There were many information screens and kiosks which helped us a lot. The Wright Brothers, the Apollo spaceships and the different types of aircrafts were just amazing. After that we went on a bus tour. Looking at the beautifully structured parliament from the bus, we all were in awe. We then saw the National Gallery of Art which was also very beautiful and extremely well-structured. But the main attraction was the official residence and workplace of the President of USA, the White House. It was like a palace. It was radiating power and was really beautiful. A lot of pictures and selfies were taken and we moved forward. At the World War 2 Memorial, we gave our tribute to the people who lost their lives. We then visited the Lincoln Memorial. Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest presidents of America, sat on a throne above which was written “In this temple, as in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the Union, the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever.” After that we visited the Capitol Building on foot and clicked memories that would last forever. With that, we bade farewell to Washington, D.C. and were off to New York for our next adventure. Written and photographed by: Arshpreet, Hargun & Saina (St. Thomas’ Girls Sr. Sec. School)

  • 44. NEW YORK CITY The two days we spent in New York were really interesting and exciting. New York City is the busiest and most happening place in USA. We started the day with a guided bus tour of the city. Our tour guide, Mr. Kevin was really friendly. We also went on a guided tour through the childhood house of John Lennon. It was so heartbreaking to pass through Strawberry Fields, which is a landscaped area in Central Park named after the famous Beatles song “Strawberry Fields Forever” in honour of John Lennon. We visited other places in New York City like Empire State Building, 9/11 Memorial and Central Park. Visiting the 9/11 Memorial was a very heartbreaking and emotional experience. In Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, we clicked many pictures with famous celebrities like Michael Jackson. The beauty of Times Square was beyond what any of us had imagined. The atmosphere of Times Square was heart warming and electrifying. Stepping on the concrete land of Times Square was a dream come true. The video displays, street performers, the fun shows and billboards make it a perfect tourist spot. This day ended with a smile on our faces which gave the next day a happy and fresh start. The Statue of Liberty was an awe-inspiring experience for our young minds. We learned that the statue was originally made of copper but had oxidised and turned green over time. Riding the ferry to Liberty Island and feeling the warm sun rays and the cool breeze on our faces was the best part of our last day. This trip was a memorable and knowledgeable experience for each one of us. It was the best trip of our life and we were lucky to be a part of such an amazing group and sharing lots and lots of memories with our friends. • 60. “One’s destination is never a place, but always a new way of seeing things”. We embarked on this journey to USA with this spirit in our hearts. A visit to the dream destination of Kennedy Space Centre was full of knowledge amalgamated with fun. Be it meeting an astronaut or visiting actual launching sites, everything was exciting. Under the continuous guidance of our journey mentor Mr. Nipun Malik, our students learned various interpersonal skills. They learned to be independent and to behave responsibly on the trip. • 63. Hello! I am Sakshi Sharma. Travelling is the sole purpose of my life. Every bit of the journey in this short period of time revealed a part of me that I was unaware of until then. Random experiences at the airport, cultural shock in a strange country, conversation with a real life astronaut, interaction with fellow backpackers, discussion over life with the local bus drivers, exploring the NY streets, screaming ‘India’ on top of our lungs when somebody asked from where we are, associating a song for each destination, packing bags in 30 minutes while moving from one city to another, and many more such things give me a different identity. It has brought me a long way so far, and I hope it will continue to reveal much more of the ‘unknown’ me, not just to the world but also to me. A man spends his whole life busy earning money to live a luxurious life and every person has a dream to visit a foreign country. My dream of visiting USA was fulfilled with the help of an amazing travel company named EdTerra. Hey! I am Vaagisha Yadav. This trip had a perfect balance of educationandadventurewhichhelped shape young minds. The moments spent on foreign soil have been engraved on our minds and I hope that this experience will remain forever in my heart. Sakshi Sharma Vaagisha Yadav 63
