3. Research
• One of the strengths of my research is the survey monkey as it gave me an idea what
my targeted audience would like to see in the fashion magazine. This helped me create
the pages by adding the right colours, images, how much text to add or even to add just
images and no text. Also sharing my survey on teams and my friends gave me more of
broader answers as the people from my lesson are in york and my friends are in Leeds
and they could have different styles, follow different trends which would mix it up a bit
and help me include more in the magazine. Another one of my strengths was the initial
plans PowerPoint as I could plan all my ideas that I had from the start and if my ideas
change throughout I can see how they have differed and compare them from beginning
to start.
• One of the weaknesses of my research was the interviews as the only 2 people I could
interview was from the same gender and same age group, it probably would have been
better if I could have interviewed a male or someone slightly older as their opinions on
fashion could have been different, however the answers was still not the same and did
have completely styles and ideas on how to improve the magazine. If I did get the
chance to interview a male this could have made my product less feminine as he could
have told me some ideas on how to make it more neutral and target both genders.
4. Planning
• The strengths of my planning was being able to annotate an existing
product similar to mine and this helped me by picking out everything on
the page and do the exact same thing to my product. Also the app Canva
made a big strength for my product as it helped me design the magazine
however I wanted and it also gave templates to use for ideas. This helped
my product as I could create sketches of how I would want my final
magazine to look and I could create many ideas and I could use a little part
of the sketches to make my final design.
• One of the weaknesses of my planning was that I could have done a few
more experiments and thought of a few more locations and props to add
to the slide. Also at the start of the project I was unsure on what photos to
use, for example models or my own photos but I think it benefited my
magazine by using professional model photos and made the magazine
look more professional as well.
5. Time Management
• I think I managed my time perfectly as I was always on time and finished
everything that I wanted to include in my magazine. If I was given
additional time in my project I definitely would have gone through and see
what extra detail I could have added to the existing pages but also I would
have included some extra pages of either some models modelling designer
clothes or items that have been worn in a fashion show. Also I would have
liked to added a page where all the items that have been included in the
product was reviewed by some of the public or even the audience of the
magazine. For example, the readers that bought the magazine could have
filled out a little survey at the end of the book or go to the magazines
website and do it online and give their thoughts on it.
6. Technical Qualities
My final front
cover.
Vogues front cover
(the magazine I was
inspired by).
One of the
similarities
is that we
both have
the colour
red on our
cover.
Both our titles
are big and
visible to see
what the
magazine is
called.
My
magazine
says what
the
categories
are inside.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
Yes my work looks good, all the colours on the pages link together, quite colour
coordinated which some could say is atheistically pleasing. My work was inspired by
another magazine but It still was creative because none of the pages look like mine
they just have some same ideas. I could improve my work by adding more pages just
dedicated to fashion and clothing as the majority of my magazine is based on fashion
inspiration.
The strengths of this page
is that the products
included are the most
recommended products
when you search up and
also I have given the
name and price so if the
reader decides that they
want to try it out they
know the name and
price.
This page is designed to help out with gifts
or ideas on what to ask for Christmas etc.
the items on this page are popular
products that are affordable.
8. Audience Appeal
My audience is targeted for teenagers and students who are interested in fashion and
lifestyle. I think I have appealed my audience as everything that is included in the
magazine. Also the survey I did and the feedback I got I took the results into
consideration and tried to include or use the opinions of what they liked or would like
to see in a fashion magazine.
This page is all about red, I
did this because this is one
of the trending colours that
both genders like. On this
page I only included
designer items that are
more on the pricey side so
this could be one of my
weaknesses as some people
might not be able to afford
this and might not be
interested.
The same thing applies to
this page with the pricing of
these bags.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– Feedback from 19 year old male:
– I liked that the magazine isn’t that feminine and that the colours are
quite neutral ones that both genders might like and attracts males as
well. I also like how there is a good mix of images and texts and that
every page has its own thing and isn’t similar or look like any of the
other pages.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– There could have been a few more pages added with topics such as
tech, or male models advertising the products. You could have also
used different coloured fonts instead of just sticking to black and
white.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– Feedback 16 year old girl:
– I liked how all the text throughout the magazine can be easily read and
the pictures compliment the page well. I also liked how the front cover
showed diversity with the models.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– Instead of using pictures from the internet you could have tried to take
some photos yourself, if not of clothes but like some lifestyle photos
such as scenery and things like that.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– Feedback from a 17 year old female
– I liked that the magazine as a whole targeted the audience as i am a 17
year old and I feel I was very attracted to what was inside and I think that
a lot of people between 16-20 could possible be attracted to this as well. I
liked how when I was looking through I was ascetically pleased and from
the front cover I got the feeling to read on.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– From my personal opinion I would have liked to see
some more texts to read to explain what is going on
with the images on the pages, I also think that there
should have been some pages on just high street
fashion instead of all the expensive designer brands as
some people that are interested in fashion might not
be able to afford the luxury items.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree with adding more items that are not expensive luxury items
and also adding male models into the magazine instead of just basing
it all with females.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree with adding different coloured fonts as if I did that I feel it
wouldn’t really go with everything and the black and white fonts are
the best colours for my specific design. I also feel I added enough text
to describe the products that was being advertised.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
I would make the changes on adding items that are
not really expensive and include the ones that
everybody can afford but are still in trend and that
people would like and want to buy. I would also add
male models so that the audience that is reading
wouldn’t feel that the magazine is targeted at one
gender as I want male and females to enjoy this. I
wouldn’t change anything else as I quite like what has
been designed but I still would take into account
adding more text for the images.
