15. What to Expect: Storm Sewer Installation
• In December 2017, crews began installation of a new storm sewer system along the south side
of Eglinton Ave E, between Taunton Rd and Brownlow Ave
• Work will resume on March 12, 2018
• Crews will use a hand-mining method whereby the sewer pipe will be hydraulically pushed
through the soil from the shaft while soil is simultaneously removed
• The work will be completed in three stages:
• Part 1 – Mining and pipe installation Taunton Rd to Mt Pleasant Rd (three weeks)
• Part 2 – Mining and pipe installation Brownlow Ave to Mt Pleasant Rd (two weeks)
• Part 3 – Connection work (two weeks)
What to Expect
• 24/5 operation, Monday through Friday
• Noise from construction equipment, 25K generator, pumps and fans
• Pedestrian rerouting around Brownlow Ave/Eglinton Ave E work zone
• Truck traffic entering/exiting work zones
