3. Primary Research
• Definition
If am able to research myself ill be able to get into direct contact with my audience.
By doing research ill also be able to get a good understanding of what the audience
may want.
• Advantages
I can create my own research to help with my work exceed better.
I can get a good understanding and knowledge if am asked question for when I am
in an interview.
Disadvantages
It can take a long time to get reliable sources of information.
Getting people who have a good understanding of questions can be challenging.
• Example
I can go into interviews, go into questionnaire surveys and as what you would rather
diet cola or coca cola.
4. Secondary Research
• Definition
Using existing research people have carried out in their own work.
• Advantages
The research already been done for you just need to look at it and the use it in
your project.
There can be a wide range of resources available.
Disadvantages
The research may not be quite what were looking for.
The research might not always be easy to find.
You have to rely on how well others have researched.
• Example
You can go and access loads of research work through various work such as
internet, library and archive.
5. Quantitative Research
• Definition
Expressed or expressible as a quantity. Research that you can quantify/
measure and put into percentage, fractions and numbers.
A quantitative research is done with closed questions a closed question is
when you ask a question which requires a short often one work answer.
• Advantages
You can do I wide range of answers.
You can be very flexible with the questions you want to give out.
• Disadvantages
It can be from an unprofessional associate giving unreliable questions and
answers.
• Example
Do you like Superman to Spiderman 25% yes 75% no.
6. Qualitative Research
• Definition
Research that goes more in depth finding out opinions/beliefs/reasoning
presented as full text or discussions.
This can make a person have to reflect and expand on their answer.
• Advantages
You are able to comment on people faults and help develop their opinions.
• Disadvantages
People can be very judgmental leading to people anxiety in future.
• Example
Why do you like/not like the colour blue?
7. Audience Research
• Definition
Finding out about costumers who consumes a product.
• Advantages
You can use date to predict after the first month of trials.
• Disadvantages
It can be very bipolar to who consumes the product.
• Example
“Month one 70% bought carrots next month 30% bought carrots”.
8. Market Research
• Definition
Finding out about the market place where a product is sold.
• Advantages
After seeing another market choosing location you can evaluate and pick a better
place where it would suffice.
• Disadvantages
If you choose a bad location it can lead to less consumers going to the market.
• Example
A market puts a poster advertising games in a small town compared to a city.
9. Production Research
• Definition
Finding information and resources required to produce a piece of media
• Advantages
You can see other peoples ideas and develop on there idea
• Disadvantages
If you copy and don’t develop enough it could lead to copyright disclaimer
• Example
A product is made with the same design and objective you want to enhance the
subjective so you produce another one but edit the looks of the first product by logo
that could be knockoff of could lead to copyright.

Is not influenced by personal feelings or opinions.
• Subjective
Is influenced y personal feelings or opinions.
• Valid
Weather the research proposed is able to answer the
intended outcome/question.
• Reliable
Research that produces accurate and consistent results.
