1. Questionnaire final results
After sending my questionnaire out to a
range of people within the age bracket I
wanted I have no got enough responses
to analyse the answers
2. Question 1
• Here we can see that the majority of the vote goes towards an informal title. This
is due to the target audience being of a wide income bracket of B-E and also due
to the magazines contents. A formal title would not sell the magazine to the
correct audience
• The informality of the font also connotes the fun and release from responsibility
some of your genres promise e.g. electronic.
• The more compressed font may indicate audience’s personal experience of other
magazines they have enjoyed. You didn’t look at the winning font in your Final
research! You must have done this!
3. Question 2
• Question two
was interesting
for me as I
thought that
Avent Garde font
would appeal
more however
the compressed
font gained
more votes
above all with a
41.38% .
4. Question 3
A medium close up
shot is a clear winner
within this question
possibly due to its
popularity within the
magazine covers. The
MCU is a convention
of covers particularly
with direct address as
it allows the audience
to connect with the
model and feel a level
of personality
5. Question 4
• I decided to leave this
question as an open
answered question as i
myself did not know what
colour scheme to go with.
Most people answered with
black and white if the image
is in colour to make the
image stand out . black and
white is also sophisticated
and gives connotations of
nostalgia. There is the
postmodern technique of
referencing the ‘classic’
nature of the genre, whilst
celebrating new music.
6. Question 5
Pull out quotes are
a convention but
they also connote
more of a personal
insight into a
band’s experience
which links to the
underground
homegrown
nature of your
music.
7. Question 6 An equal amount
of text and images
means plenty of
content is
promised to the
lower end of your
income bracket
who may have
less disposable
income, but
sophistication is
also indicated by
the amount of
text for the higher
end
8. Question 7
• This was interesting to
see for me as is
highlighted the thoughts
of the target audience in
that not many gigs would
take place in such a small
community of people
hence why it came last in
vote but information on a
particular artist was
higher voted as people
will want to learn more
about the underground
scene and its artists.
learning about artists can
be aspirational for the
audience.
9. Question 8 This question was
designed to help me in
the future. I asked what
music magazine people
read. This is a good
question for me as in the
future I will be able to
have a look at the
magazines for influence.
10. Question 9 The target audience is
between a income bracket of
B-E. This is a wide income
bracket is to support the
sophistication of following a
niche music scene but also
because it is associated with
clubs. Despite the wide
income bracket people are
still willing to pay a premium
price for the magazine as is
aimed at a specific group of
people. Niche products can
become just as successful as
mass market because of the
opportunities offered by
online contents which my
magazine will exploit like
twitter and Facebook.
12. Question 10
• Question 10 was possibly the most Important
question I asked within the whole of the
questionnaire. It allows me to see how
important different things are in the eyes of
the target audience, how much time I should
spend on different things and whether or not I
should include some ideas or not. The
answers to the question point towards my
postmodern audience who prises style over
substance.
13. Conclusion
Overall I will be using all of the information I have gathered
in the questionnaire to aid me when making my magazine.
Through this questionnaire I have decided that I am going
to have a medium close up on the front cover of the
magazine with a contrasting colour scheme. The contents
page will keep to the colour scheme with a mix of both
images and text.
The double page spread will be based on one artist and
their story and will be layed out in a sophisticated manor
with equal amount of text and images to create a
aesthetically pleasing page.
