INTRODUCTION
In India most of the people are adopting agriculture and allied sectors as their
occupation. So, importance of agriculture in India is most valuable than other sectors.
As students of agriculture sector, we have to develop as well as disseminate new
technologies to the rural India for more efficient work in agriculture, RAWE program
is a very important part to achieve this goal. The Rural Agricultural Work Experience
Program (RAWE) was introduced in the UG curriculum as per the recommendation of
the Randhawa Committee during the year 1995-96. The Rural Agricultural Work
Experience (RAWE) programme is a flagship activity for the final year B.Sc. (Ag.)
students during the 7th semester. Building self-confidence in the agricultural graduates
by honing their professional skills is the key objective of introducing RAWE at the
under graduate level by ICAR. Besides acquiring first hand field experience, the
RAWE modules bring about positive changes in the students’ mindset, outlook,
personality traits, managerial and entrepreneurial skills.
In this program, students are provided with the practical knowledges and experiences
to work on field under the proper guidance from our respected co-ordinators and
participations of villagers. Here Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) technique is
conducted to gain experience. So, we were required to carry out the exercises in the
assigned village with help of the villagers and submit our report through different
maps. During these exercises, we were exposed to village situation and we got a basic
understating of various on-farm activities.
We developed communication skills during the presentation conducted regularly under
this programme. Various exercises under this project developed this knowledge of the
student and practically revise all the courses that we studied for the last 3 years in our
classes. We are now comfortable while communicating with the villagers. I think the
most important achievement of this RAWE programme is that it had generated interest
in our minds to do something for the villagers because we have very closely observed
the real problems and difficulties faced by the farmers during their day to day life.

Today Er.Pankaj Sir took a lecture on PRA (Participatory Rural
Appraisal). He explained that Participatory rural appraisal (PRA) is an
approach used by various agencies involved in international development.
The approach aims to incorporate the knowledge and opinions of rural
people in the planning and management of development projects and
programmes. For many agencies and organisations, Participatory Rural
Appraisal (PRA) is not just a tool which enables development planners to
learn about rural conditions and consult with local people so that they
(development planners) can come up with more appropriate and better
development plans. The basic techniques used include:
• Understanding group dynamics, e.g. through learning contracts, role
reversals, feedback sessions
• Surveying and sampling, e.g. transect walks, wealth ranking, social
mapping
• Interviewing, e.g. focus group discussions, semi-structured
interviews, triangulation
• Community mapping, e.g. Venn
diagrams, matrix scoring, ecograms, timelines
To ensure that people are not excluded from participation, these techniques
avoid writing wherever possible, relying instead on the tools of oral
communication and visual communication such as pictures, symbols, physical
objects and group memory.

CLIMATE RESILIENT AGRICULTURE
The KVK also have a Climate resilient agriculture model. National Innovations on
Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) is a network project of the Indian Council of
Agricultural Research (ICAR) launched on 2nd February, 2011 by the Hon’ble Union
Minister for Agriculture & Food Processing Industries Shri Sharad Pawarji. The
project aims to enhance resilience of Indian agriculture to climate change and climate
vulnerability through strategic research and technology demonstration. The research
on adaptation and mitigation covers crops, livestock, fisheries and natural resource
management. The project consists of four components viz. Strategic Research,
Technology Demonstration, Capacity Building and Sponsored/Competitive Grants.
Considering that the climate variability impact the food
production in future it is important that we continue to address this critical area in XII
Five Year Plan with significant emphasis. Hence, the scheme is being formulated to
build up on the initiative taken during XI Five Year Plan, by strengthening the theme
areas, viz., phenotyping/breeding programs in crops, horticulture and livestock,
simulation modelling to understand the impacts at regional level and national level,
address crops and regions which could not be covered in the XI Plan and expand the
technology demonstration to more vulnerable districts.

Conclusion
RAWE is an effective curriculum for us to understand right perspective of rural life.
It also helps in diffusion of technologies among rural peoples. It helps to develop self
confidence leadership qualities in us. RAWE helped us to know the real issues of
farmers and small trials of suggestion to them under the guidance of respected
scientist. The query and feedbacks of farmers were interesting most of the section of
the questionnaire helped us a lot.
The Unit Attachment programme gave us very important & minute technicalities
which can’t be learnt by theoretical classes. In UA we got diverse & deep knowledge
of every aspect of agriculture. We also were able to know about the real life problems
faced by famers during various activities in farm.
The Village Attachment programme to the various villages Bhagalpur district provided
us a practical oriented opportunities and hands on experience in acquiring knowledge
and skills. The real socio-economic situation of village and problems at field level is
known to us.
During this covid-19 pandemic by strictly following the given advisory I enjoyed my
RAWE programme a lot.

  • 5. INTRODUCTION In India most of the people are adopting agriculture and allied sectors as their occupation. So, importance of agriculture in India is most valuable than other sectors. As students of agriculture sector, we have to develop as well as disseminate new technologies to the rural India for more efficient work in agriculture, RAWE program is a very important part to achieve this goal. The Rural Agricultural Work Experience Program (RAWE) was introduced in the UG curriculum as per the recommendation of the Randhawa Committee during the year 1995-96. The Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) programme is a flagship activity for the final year B.Sc. (Ag.) students during the 7th semester. Building self-confidence in the agricultural graduates by honing their professional skills is the key objective of introducing RAWE at the under graduate level by ICAR. Besides acquiring first hand field experience, the RAWE modules bring about positive changes in the students’ mindset, outlook, personality traits, managerial and entrepreneurial skills. In this program, students are provided with the practical knowledges and experiences to work on field under the proper guidance from our respected co-ordinators and participations of villagers. Here Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) technique is conducted to gain experience. So, we were required to carry out the exercises in the assigned village with help of the villagers and submit our report through different maps. During these exercises, we were exposed to village situation and we got a basic understating of various on-farm activities. We developed communication skills during the presentation conducted regularly under this programme. Various exercises under this project developed this knowledge of the student and practically revise all the courses that we studied for the last 3 years in our classes. We are now comfortable while communicating with the villagers. I think the most important achievement of this RAWE programme is that it had generated interest in our minds to do something for the villagers because we have very closely observed the real problems and difficulties faced by the farmers during their day to day life. Daily activity Date- 30 September 2020 Today Er.Pankaj Sir took a lecture on PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal). He explained that Participatory rural appraisal (PRA) is an approach used by various agencies involved in international development. The approach aims to incorporate the knowledge and opinions of rural people in the planning and management of development projects and programmes. For many agencies and organisations, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) is not just a tool which enables development planners to learn about rural conditions and consult with local people so that they (development planners) can come up with more appropriate and better development plans. The basic techniques used include: • Understanding group dynamics, e.g. through learning contracts, role reversals, feedback sessions • Surveying and sampling, e.g. transect walks, wealth ranking, social mapping • Interviewing, e.g. focus group discussions, semi-structured interviews, triangulation • Community mapping, e.g. Venn diagrams, matrix scoring, ecograms, timelines To ensure that people are not excluded from participation, these techniques avoid writing wherever possible, relying instead on the tools of oral communication and visual communication such as pictures, symbols, physical objects and group memory.  A Model PRA Abhishek Kumar Roll No. 17011044.
