2. NATURAL RESOURCES
•The things that we can find in
our environment that we use to
meet our NEEDS.
•These resources are not made
by humans or any scientific
experiments inside the
laboratories but they EXIST IN
NATURE.
3. TWO TYPES OF NATURAL RESOURCES
1.RENEWABLE
RESOURCES
• Are those that can be
replaced naturally
within the time the
supply is being used.
2.NONRENEWABLE
RESOURCES
• Are those that cannot be
replaced in a short period
of time because they take
millions of years to form.
Examples:
Air
Water
Plants
animals
Example:
Fossil fuels (Petroleum,
Coal, Natural gas)
Land
Metals
Nonmetals
4. NATURAL RESOURCES
1. WATER RESOURCES
•WATERSHED
- DRAINAGE BASIN or CATCHMENT AREA
- an area of land on a slope which drains its water into a
stream and its tributaries
2. SOIL RESOURCES
• Land makes up about 25% of Earth’s Surface.
• Soil is made up of:
45% mineral matter, 25% water, 25% air, and
5% organic matter.
5. 2. SOIL RESOURCES
WEATHERING – is the
breaking down of rocks
into smaller pieces by
natural resources.
TEMPERATURE,
RAINFALL, CHEMICAL
CHANGES, AND
BIOLOGICAL ACTION
- act together to
continuously form soil.

8. WHY IS THE PHILIPPINES RICH
IN MINERAL RESOURCES?
9. WHY IS THE PHILIPPINES RICH
IN MINERAL RESOURCES?
•PACIFIC RING OF FIRE -
This area is associated
with over 450 volcanoes
and is home to
approximately 75% of the
world's active volcanoes.
17. What is Sustainability?
Sustainability is the practice
of using the earth’s resources
in a responsible manner that
will allow the resources to be
available for the present and
future generations.
