TOPIC: Weather
CLASS Nº 3
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Students will be able to talk about the weather, asking and answering questions about it, with the
provided structure: “What´s the weather like?” “It´s sunny/rainy/cloudy, etc.” With the purpose of
expressing through new vocabulary what´s the weather like and which type of weather they prefer.
• Students will be able to understand and produce listening, speaking, reading and writing macro-skills.
ROUTINES:
• Greeting song, checking of the attendance, choosing an assistant, asking about the date and about the
weather.
WARM UP .
The teacher will present the weather flashcards on the board and will devote some minutes to ask the students what
kind of activities they can do according to what’s the weather like. If it is necessary the teacher will ask the questions in
Spanish.
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Teacher – students.
MACRO-SKILLS: Speaking.
TIMING: 10 minutes.
MATERIALS: Blackboard – flashcards.
DEVELOPMENT:
• First Activity:
The teacher will show a video with a song about different weather conditions and about different activities we can do
according to the climate. First, they’ll only listen and watch the video and before watching it again the teacher will ask
them what different types of weather conditions are there in the video? And what activities can they do in? Also she will
introduce through images with vocabulary the activities the characters do in the video depending on how is the weather
like. Then the teacher will play the video a second time so as to mime all together the different actions in the different
weather conditions.
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Teacher – students.
MACRO-SKILLS: Listening.
TIMING: 15 minutes.
MATERIALS: Projector – Audio system – Computer – Flashcards.
• Second Activity:
The teacher will give the students some copies with a matching exercise in which they will have to match the different
actions performed in the video with their corresponding weather condition. Once they finish the activity the teacher will
ask them to tell her the answers and she will do the matching on the board (with her flashcards) so as they can all check
the exercise.
• TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students individually – Students as a group.
• MACROSKILLS: Reading - Writing – Speaking.
• TIMING: 10 minutes.
• MATERIALS: Copies – Flashcards – Video.
• Third Activity:
The teacher will give copies to the students with an activity in which they will have to draw different items connected
with weather according to what it is asked in each square. So as to solve the exercise pupils will count with the weather
flashcards always present on the blackboard and also with the teacher´s help if necessary. Once students finish the task,
together with the teacher, they will check it orally. Ideally the activity should be solved in class and in case they do not
finish it, it will be set as homework.
TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students individually - Students as a group.
MACROSKILLS: Writing - Speaking.
TIMING: 5 minutes
MATERIALS: Blackboard – flashcards – Copies.
CLOSING UP:
• The teacher will assign the last activity as homework just in case students do not finish it in class.
• The teacher will collect her material and say good-bye.

Weather Lesson Plan

  • 1. PRACTICE II, DIDACTICS OF ELT. LESSON PLAN Nº 2 TEACHER: Estela N. Braun. TRAINEE: Ana Belén Zabala SCHOOL: “Quelulén” nº 246 COURSE: 4TH TEXTBOOK: Treetops 3/ Materials provided by the teacher. DATE: Monday 5th , September from 16.10 to 16.50 TOPIC: Weather CLASS Nº 3 LEARNING OBJECTIVES: • Students will be able to talk about the weather, asking and answering questions about it, with the provided structure: “What´s the weather like?” “It´s sunny/rainy/cloudy, etc.” With the purpose of expressing through new vocabulary what´s the weather like and which type of weather they prefer. • Students will be able to understand and produce listening, speaking, reading and writing macro-skills. ROUTINES: • Greeting song, checking of the attendance, choosing an assistant, asking about the date and about the weather. WARM UP . The teacher will present the weather flashcards on the board and will devote some minutes to ask the students what kind of activities they can do according to what’s the weather like. If it is necessary the teacher will ask the questions in Spanish.
  • 2. TYPE OF INTERACTION: Teacher – students. MACRO-SKILLS: Speaking. TIMING: 10 minutes. MATERIALS: Blackboard – flashcards. DEVELOPMENT: • First Activity: The teacher will show a video with a song about different weather conditions and about different activities we can do according to the climate. First, they’ll only listen and watch the video and before watching it again the teacher will ask them what different types of weather conditions are there in the video? And what activities can they do in? Also she will introduce through images with vocabulary the activities the characters do in the video depending on how is the weather like. Then the teacher will play the video a second time so as to mime all together the different actions in the different weather conditions. TYPE OF INTERACTION: Teacher – students. MACRO-SKILLS: Listening. TIMING: 15 minutes. MATERIALS: Projector – Audio system – Computer – Flashcards. • Second Activity: The teacher will give the students some copies with a matching exercise in which they will have to match the different actions performed in the video with their corresponding weather condition. Once they finish the activity the teacher will ask them to tell her the answers and she will do the matching on the board (with her flashcards) so as they can all check the exercise. • TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students individually – Students as a group. • MACROSKILLS: Reading - Writing – Speaking. • TIMING: 10 minutes. • MATERIALS: Copies – Flashcards – Video.
  • 3. • Third Activity: The teacher will give copies to the students with an activity in which they will have to draw different items connected with weather according to what it is asked in each square. So as to solve the exercise pupils will count with the weather flashcards always present on the blackboard and also with the teacher´s help if necessary. Once students finish the task, together with the teacher, they will check it orally. Ideally the activity should be solved in class and in case they do not finish it, it will be set as homework. TYPE OF INTERACTION: Students individually - Students as a group. MACROSKILLS: Writing - Speaking. TIMING: 5 minutes MATERIALS: Blackboard – flashcards – Copies. CLOSING UP: • The teacher will assign the last activity as homework just in case students do not finish it in class. • The teacher will collect her material and say good-bye.
