Mandate Of Heaven Analysis
Throughout pre unification China, the Mandate of Heaven was used as a justification in the
acquisition and eradication of dynasties. The Mandate of Heaven, the idea that a ruler reigned only
with the blessing of the heavens, was seen as a way to legitimize a dynasty and its ruler. Although it
may seem as if a heavenly mandate gives a ruler absolute power, this is actually not the case. Instead,
Mencius, a philosopher who emphasizes benevolent governance, asserts that a ruler can both acquire
and lose the heavenly mandate based on his behavior and the treatment of his subjects. If a ruler is not
equitable, in other words, the Mandate of Heaven can be withdrawn and bestowed upon a more
qualified ruler. Thus, although the mandate sounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, the heavens bestow the mandate upon the ruler, but the people are a factor in whether the
mandate stays with the ruler or not. Hence, Mencius emphasizes the importance of just rule in order to
please the people and keep the Mandate of Heaven.
Mencius once again underscores the people s role in the heavenly mandate and declares their right to
either abide by or revolt against a ruler. Mencius claims that rulers only possessed the Heavenly
Mandate to rule so long as they retained the hearts of the people . . . For Mencius, the human heart
was endowed with the ability to judge between right and wrong and constituted a bridge linking man
with Heaven (Glanville 331). Mencius s belief in the ability of the heart to determine right or wrong
gives the common people authority and power to identify whether a ruler is worthy of the mandate and
the favor of the heavens. Consequently, it is imperative that the ruler retains the people s support as
negative sentiments can lead to dissent and organized revolt amongst the people. This emphasis on the
intimate and powerful link between the people and the heavens is translated in Mencius s concept of
the ultimate supremacy of the people. Mencius declares that The people are of supreme importance;
the altars to the gods of earth and grain come next; last comes the ruler (Glanville 332). Mencius
prioritizes the

Excitatory Essay
The excitatory (glutamatergic) inputs to the hippocampal formation originate from the neurons in the
different layers of the entorhinal cortexcite {1}cite{2}cite{3}cite{4}cite{5}. The axons, projecting
from the superficial second layer of entorhinal cortex to dentate gyrus and CA3, constitute for the
perforant pathway and are strictly unidirectional and excitatory cite{2}. Whilst layer II neurons of
entorhinal cortex innervate the neurons found in dentate gyrus and the CA3 neurons, neurons from
layer III of entorhinal cortex send their axons to subiculum and CA1. The granule cells, synonymously
called principal cells, are located in the granule cell layer of dentate gyrus. Here, the granule cells send
their axons, the mossy fibers, through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Axons projecting from the infrapyramidal blade enter the CA3 in the infrapyramidal bundle before
perforating the pyramidal cells to aborize the stratum lucidum. Mossy fiber axons projecting from the
suprapyramidal blade aborize stratum lucidum first after they enter the suprapyramidal bundle. This is
another example of the high organizaton of the neuronal trajectory in hippocampal
formationcite{2}cite{6}. There are two main pathways originating from the CA3 neurons, the first is
the direct projection of these neurons towards the fimbria and the second is the subsequent collateral
pathway created by the backward propagation of the diverged CA3 axonscite{1}. These axons,
known as Schaffer collaterals, are the main excitatory input to the pyramidal cells located in the first
region of hippocampus proper, an innervation mediated through the distal dendritic spines of the CA1
neurons in an en passant fashioncite{7}, where the synaptic transmission occurs along the axonal
bodycite{8}cite{7}. The CA1 neurons, in turn, innervate other hippocampal areas by sending their
axons toward the fimbria, subiculum and contralateral hippocampus via the associational commisural
pathway and forms the main output of the hippocampal

Analysis Of There Will Come Soft Rains Science Fiction
Science fiction is a genre that has characteristics such as a futuristic setting and a human element. It is
based on controversial areas of science or specific theories that have not yet been proven to be true.
Science fiction works depict what may happen in the future as an effect of what technology and events
exist presently. The genre of the short story There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury is
identifiable as science fiction through the setting, character and plot. Firstly, the setting of the short
story is a huge indicator that the genre is science fiction. It takes place August 24, 2026 on a rainy day
in a community where everything is destroyed, except for one house. During the nighttime the ruined
city gave off a radioactive glow which could be seen for miles (Bradbury). The radioactive glow infers
that nuclear war had obliterated everything. Since this hasn t happened yet, but isn t a totally
unbelievable event in the future, it can be classified as science fiction. The one house standing is a
completely different setting. The house was made to take care of itself and all the people who used to
live inside it. For example, after the house prepared breakfast which no one ate, dirty dishes were
dropped into a hot washer and emerged twinkling dry. Nine fifteen, sang the clock, time to clean
(Bradbury). Self sufficient houses don t exist yet, so it must be technology from the future and thus
science fiction. Another aspect of the setting in

Analyzing the Characteristics of Kind Lear Essay
Analyzing the Characteristics of Kind Lear Lear is the protagonist, whose willingness to believe his
older daughters empty flattery leads to the deaths of many people. In relying on the test of his
daughters love, Lear demonstrates that he lacks common sense or the ability to detect his older
daughters falseness. Lear cannot recognize Cordelia s honesty amid the flattery, which he craves. The
depth of Lear s anger toward Kent, his devoted follower, suggests excessive pride Lear refuses to be
wrong. Hubris leads Lear to make a serious mistake in judgment, while Lear s excessive anger toward
Kent also suggests the fragility of his emotional state. Hubris is a Greek term referring to excessive

Lear wants to remain in charge of his destiny, even though the choices he makes are poor or filled with
danger. Thus, Lear chooses to go out into the storm because he must retain some element of control.
The only other choice is to acquiesce to his daughters control, and for Lear, that option is not worth
considering. Lear is stubborn, like a willful child, and this is just one additional way in which he tries
to deal with the events controlling his life. Lear flees into the storm, as a child flees a reality too harsh
to accept. In spite of his despair and self pity, Lear is revealed as a complex man, one whose
punishment far exceeds his foolish errors, and thus, Lear is deserving of the audience s sympathy.
Eventually, Lear displays regret, remorse, empathy, and compassion for the poor, a population that
Lear has not noticed before. Lear focuses on the parallels he sees to his own life, and so in a real
sense, his pity for the poor is also a reflection of the pity he feels for his own situation. Lear is the
anointed king, God s representative, and thus, he shares the responsibility for dispensing justice on
earth. He recognizes that he bears responsibility for both his own problems and for those of others,
who suffer equally. His understanding of his complicity in the events that followed is a major step in

The Trails of Darryl Hunt
The Trials of Darryl Hunt

On September 11, 1984 Darryl Hunt was arrested for the rape and murder of Debora Sykes. The police
received a tip from a 911 phone call from a man named Johnny Gray. At the time of the call Mr. Gray
claimed to be Sammy Mitchell, who was well known by the police and prosecutors. Don Tisdale the
district attorney on the case prosecuted Sammy Mitchell numerous times, and saw Darryl as a young
version of him. The first time Mr. Hunt was picked up by the police he claimed his innocence and
cooperated with them. Later Darryl stated that the D.A. offered him $12,000 to say Sammy Mitchell
committed the murder, and promised all charges against him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It also showed the compassion and struggles his defense attorney faced along the way. The
documentary films the final breaking point of defense attorney Mark Rabil as he s seen crying after
receiving a devastating phone call stating that the State Supreme Court denied Hunt a new trial. In
many cases it is rare to see a defense attorney become so emotionally attached to their client. The only
weakness I saw in the documentary is the brief mentions of corruptions within the police and
prosecution. I believe they should have went into greater detail to let the people see and understand
how much evidence they tried to cover up.
Many of us are naive to believe that race no longer exist in our criminal justice system. Darryl Hunt is
not the only black man to be accused of a crime that he did not commit. In 1979 James Newsome was
charged with armed robbery, and murder of a white proprietor of a grocery store in Chicago. The
prosecutors did not find any physical evidence at the crime scene, and his fingerprints were not found
on any items that the killer touched in the store. Mr. Newsome had a strong alibi, but three witnesses
identified him as the killer. Similar to Darryl Hunt, James Newsome was convicted by an all white
jury and sentenced to life in prison. After fifteen years in prison AFIS compared the fingerprint found
at the crime scene and identified another man as the killer (Chapter 5, slide 5). Between the years

Like Darwin s theory of survival of the fittest, work is changing with social needs (Mayr, 1994). Many
positions and occupations will gradually disappear. For example, craftsmen in the traditional
manufacturing industry were replaced by line workers, or computer literate personal assistants
replaced secretaries who only used paper and typewriters. According to the research data: since World
War II, after Industrial Development, the rate of labor participation has been declining in the United
States and other industrialized countries (Hughes, 2014). Snyder (2013) reckons that in the next 20
years, half of the work will now be replaced by robots. In the near future, artificial intelligence
technology will learn to control such as unmanned vehicles and robots of this kind of semi
independent and independent hardware facilities, gradually replace the factory workers, construction
workers, drivers, express and many other occupations. However, at the same time, education, health
care, tourism and other services will generate huge demand for services. Those positions can absorb
the labor force replaced by AI (Levy Murnane, 2012). In other words, the wider use of AI will
stimulate the development of new careers. Artificial intelligence will bring a massive change in the

The Species Of Endangered Species
Did you know that the endangerment or eventual extinction of a species causes the endangerment and
extinction of other life forms, eventually leading to a negative impact on human well being? Currently,
the endangered species list includes 16,306 species that are endangered and at risk of extinction, and
785 species have already gone extinct (Kasnoff). On the list of endangered species is the adorable sea
otter. Sea otters are not only cute, but they play an extremely important role in the ecological
preservation of Pacific kelp forests.

Also, the inhalation of the oil by the sea otter results in illness and a weakened immune system
(Recarte 10). The population decline of the sea otter serves as evidence of the poor state of the eco
system in which they live. In her detailing of The California Recovery Plan, Recart emphasizes the sea
otter s important role as a keystone and sentinel (bioindicator) species in their ecosystem, and goes on
to state that they are the keepers of the kelp forest (10).
Along with its keystone and sentinel role in its eco system, sea otters have important interactions with
abiotic and biotic factors. Sea otters have an effect on the abiotic factors of their ecosystem, which
include the ocean waves and currents as well as the levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air.
They affect those abiotic factors through the controlling of sea urchin populations who, without the
sea otter, would decimate the kelp forests that in turn serve as a barrier to ocean currents and waves,
providing protection for other marine animals from those elements (Laustsen). The sea otters
consumption of urchins also ensures that kelp forest growth prevents soil erosion and that its
photosynthesis reduces the amount of carbon dioxide and increases the amount of oxygen in the
atmosphere (Nielsen). Without the sea otters protective role of the kelp forest, abiotic factors would go
out of balance affecting and harming the biotic factors of this ecosystem.

Littering the The World
As you walk down the packed streets of New York City, 8.3 million people are out and about. Its 7pm
and you re eating a granola bar headed to see the newest big hit on Broadway. Once you finish, you
look around and realize there is no garbage pails anywhere nearby. So you toss your wrapper in the
street and think nothing of it and casually walk away and go on with your evening......
As a matter a fact, many people do this every day all around the world. And there is a name for it too,
litter. Litter is trash, such as paper, cans, and bottles that is left out in an open or public place. There
are many effects that litter can do. Litter that is lying in the streets gets blown into sewers and clogs
the sewers and waterways. From there, it flows into bodies of water. Chemicals and toxins from
plastic bottles escape into water systems. Animals get cut on sharp metal or broken glass and get stuck
inside bins and containers. When food litter is littered from a vehicle, it brings animals to the road, and
then they run onto incoming traffic and quickly become road kill, that can hurt your car. These are
some environmental effects that litter can do.
There is also an economic aspect to the harms of litter. Houses in littered neighborhoods sell for less
money, and much of what is thrown away or littered could have been recycled and could have been
made into something new. But surprisingly, the most littered item in the world is a cigarette butt. They
may be small, but there harm is much

Canada Political Influence
Political interferences have played a great role in economic crisis in the current world, especially in
most decisions that gives the direction of the economy. Policies are made according people beliefs and
the current situation and matter to address at hand. Ideologies and perceptions are made from past
experiences and predictions with an aim to address the upcoming challenges. The Second World War

The Golden Age Of Greek Essay

The Golden Age of Greece The golden age of Greece, especially the Periclean age of Athens, was
considered to be the defining age of Greek history. The amount of cultural and intellectual innovation
in Greece was at its height during the nearly 200 year period. From 500 300 BC, many great thinkers
and philosophers rose and gave many a new perspective on life.
As Matt Barrett explained, many philosopers, such as Socrates, dwelled in Athens, along with his then
pupil, Plato. Socrates was one of the first of the philosophers to believe that life was not for collecting
material possesions, or riches, but that it was for knowing oneself and the world around oneself.
Socrates was later executed and forced to drink Hemlock for corrupting the youth of the city. Plato,
Socrates pupil, was considered an idealist. Furthermore, according to Barrett, it is said that all
philosophy is but a footnote to Plato. (Barrett)
After the end of the Persian Wars, Athens began a nearly 50 year period of prosperity under Pericles,
known as the Age of Pericles. During this time the Parthenon was built, and Athens became the
cultural, intellectual, and the artistic center of the Greek world. Throughout this time period, Athens
attracted a number of intellectuals and philosophers, which brought about a cultural and intellectual
high point in Greek history. (Barrett)

As stated by Holmes, in the 1980s, there was a lot of chaos in the party as Margaret Thatcher had
moved the party to the extreme right amongst other things, making her members of parliament keen to

1900 and 2000, the conservatives were in power two third of the time. The period in time when they
were not in power, was in 1997 were they lost the election and also in 2001.At that point time, the
conservative leaders were (William Hague and Iain Duncan smith) who struggled to win back votes of
the people. The policies that were left by Margret Thatcher were not favoured by the people. In 2003,
Michael Howard (right winger) revived the conservatives but the conservatives were defeated by the
liberal democrat party in the 2005 general election. (Holmes pg276 277)

(1729 97). He was the first philosopher of the party though originally a Whig. However, the ideology

Public Transport Systems Of The Uk
Currently there are already a few alternatives to cars available to a large amount of people, the most
prevalent of these being public transport systems which count towards about 16% of commuters as
their usual method of transport in the UK[6]. In the future we will probably see more alternatives such
as driver less cars, notably one being developed by google, and some even speculate as to more
science fiction like modes of transportation e.g. According to Shaw, in the future everyone will use
telekinetically controlled hover boards [1]. The question is somewhat speculative at best as there are
too many factors currently involved as to the requirement of cars both now and in the future.
One of the most compelling arguments against needing to know how to drive is the driver less car
which have had reasonable success under the development of Google, which by 2012 completed more
than 300,000 miles of testing. [...] and there hasn t been a single accident under computer control. [2].
This was achieved about 2 years after the project was first publicly announced and aimed to
fundamentally change the use of cars [3]. The concept itself has a lot of merit as it would give those
previously unable to drive, such as those who are blind or otherwise disabled, means to more
independently get around. A good example of how a driver less car would be was seen in the film
adaptation of Isaac Asimov s I, Robot, in which all cars where computer driven but also gave the

Use Of Distance Education Within A Rural Setting Essay
The Use of Distance Education in Continuing Interprofessional Education within a Rural Setting
Interprofessional education (IPE) is an imperative form of educating a variety of healthcare
professionals (HCPs). With factors such as an ageing population and an increase in the number of
patients with chronic health conditions, patient care has become more complex, requiring HCPs to
work together collaboratively. While many institutions initiate education for new HCPs with IPE as a
part of existing curriculum, current staff working in clinical areas require continuing education to
educate on how to work efficiently in the interprofessional team after they obtain their licensing.
Continuing interprofessional education (CIPE) is an important part of ongoing HCP education to
ensure HCPS maintain a continued focus and practice on working in an interprofessional environment.
While larger tertiary centres employ educators with an ability to conduct CIPE, rural and isolated
urban areas experience greater difficulty in managing CIPE, thus a distance education focus is
required. An understanding of the efficiency of distance education in the CIPE setting, in addition to
the most effective methods of providing CIPE is required for educators with an interdisciplinary focus
in the rural setting. In this paper, we will examine CIPE, issues regarding CIPE in remote areas, and
the use of distance education for CIPE.

Should College Students Drop Out Of College
When I was five years old, the fifty cents that my mother would give me to purchase a handful of
sugary goodness from the gumball machines seemed like winning the jackpot. As I grew and became
fascinated with toys at age eight, ten dollars could purchase me a small toy from the toy store. In my
teen years 30 dollars were put into my pocket and just as fast taken out on weekend trips. As I
approach college, the value of a hundred dollars in the face of college tuition, seems as meager as the
gumballs I chewed as a child. Our dependency on money has substantially increased the value and
importance of keeping track of when, where, and how every penny is spent.

Essay On Duchenne s Muscular Dystrophy
Duchenne s muscular dystrophy is one of the most common forms over childhood muscular dystrophy
and primarily affects boys; in total there are 30 different forms of muscular dystrophy 50% being
duchenne s muscular dystrophy (NIH, 2013). This type of muscular dystrophy usually begins to show
symptoms around the pre school age and affects the lower extremities first. By the age of twelve, most
boys are in a wheelchair as the trunk muscles being to weaken leading to scoliosis and kyphosis.
Eventually the diaphragm begins to weaken and young men with Duchenne s muscular dystrophy will
need assistance with breathing through the use of a ventilator (Naff, C. 2012). According to the 1st

Elie Wiesel Holocaust Survivor Essay
Elie Wiesel Holocaust Survivor
As war broke out in Europe during 1939, no one could either imagine or believe the terror that Adolf
Hitler would soon bring to the lives of Jewish people. Drawing from his paranoia and a drive for a
world Nazi power, Hitler singled out the Jews as the cause for problems in Germany and began to
carry out his plan for the destruction of a part of humanity. Hitler not only persecuted the Jews of
Germany, but he also targeted the Jews in Poland and other parts of Europe, such as Transylvania,
which was the home of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel.
Breaking his self imposed vow of silence in 1958, Elie Wiesel published Night which details his

Moesh solemnly told Elie of what really went on in Galicia; after exiting the trains, the Jews were
forced to dig massive graves and then wait in line to be murdered. Even children were tossed into the
air as prey for the guards machine guns. Moesh had escaped only because he was injured and
presumed dead.
During the following days and nights, Moesh spread his story throughout the community in an effort
to warn his people of the impending terror, but no one believed him. Some said, He s just trying to
make us pity him. What an imagination he has. 2 Many people thought Moesh had just simply gone
mad, and even Wiesel denied the stories of his friend.
The Jews not only denied the warnings of Moesh, but also disbelieved that Hitler planned to
exterminate them. Wiesel summarized the general feeling of the community by stating, Could he
exterminate a population scattered throughout so many countries? So many millions! What methods
could he use? And in the middle of the twentieth century! 3 Other reports indicate that the Jews did
not believe that Hitler s attempted genocide was occurring. Newspaper articles about the murders were
shrugged off as panic inducers because killing such large numbers was incomprehensible; many
believed that the deportees were sent away to do agricultural work, but they would soon learn
otherwise.4

A Serious Talk By Raymond Carver
Deepak Chopra once said, In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but
you will find yourself. In A Serious Talk by Raymond Carver, the reader observed tension due to the
absence of progression in developing a serious conversation. This conversation was planned by Burt,
the protagonist of this story, to relieve the troublesome relationship between him and his ex wife, Vera.
By letting go, Burt could release portions of his past that included his family; although, he could move
on to be happy and find his true meaning in life. Burt should be for the process of letting go because it
would allow him to find his true presence in life, eradicate the past which holds him down and reveal
the path of his future. The feeling of not understanding your presence in life can be frustrating and
sometimes leads to mental issues. By Burt trying to start a serious conversation with Vera, he thought
it may resolve problems rather than resulting in a fight. Burt does not know his place in life due to his
lack of letting go of Vera and his kids, which creates stress for him. Burt showed his lack of releasing
them from his life by saying, I want to apologize to you for last night. I want to apologize to the kids,
too (123). By Burt expressing his sorrow to Vera, one might say he has lost his place in life. It shows
his desperation to find people who love him, however he is doing this incorrectly because he keeps
going back to people who clearly do not care

Synopsis of Price Elasticity of Demand on Automobile Industry
One definition of elasticity is what happens to consumer demand for a good when prices increase. As
the price of a good rises, consumers will usually demand a lower quantity of that good, perhaps by
consuming less, substituting other goods, and so on and the demand of complementary product will
also be less. The greater the extent to which demand falls as price rises, the greater the price elasticity
of demand. Conversely, as the price of a good falls, consumers will usually demand a greater quantity
of that good, by consuming more, the demand of complementary will also rise, dropping substitutes,
and so forth. However, there may be some goods that consumers require, cannot consume less of, and
cannot find substitutes for even if prices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the oil price will rise, the demand of auto industry will decrease. We will measure the
responsiveness in the demand for commodity to a change in the price of commodity. The cross price
elasticity of demand is very important concept in managerial decision making. Firms often use this
concept to measure the effect of changing the price of a product they sell on the demand of other
related products that the firm also sells. A high positive cross price elasticity of demand is often used
to define an industry, since it indicates that various commodities are very similar.
Further, elasticity will normally be different in the short term and the long term. For example, for
many goods the supply can be increased over time by locating alternative sources, investing in an
expansion of production capacity, or developing competitive products which can substitute. One might
therefore expect that the price elasticity of supply will be greater in the long term than the short term
for such a good, that is, that supply can adjust to price changes to a greater degree over a longer time.
This applies to the demand side as well. For example, if the price of petrol rises, consumers will find
ways to conserve their use of the resource. However, some of these ways, like finding a more fuel
efficient car, take time. So consumers as well may be less able to adapt to price shocks in the short
term than in the long term.

Wine Industry Case Study
Wine Case Study
Problem Statement
The problem that the company must address refers to determining if it is better to develop distribution
and marketing strategies controlled by the company, or to allow the distribution of the products to be
performed by the merchants. This is a difficult decision to make because of its implications. The fact
that the company s wine products are distributed by merchants has its advantages. These merchants
know the market very well, they know buyers, and they know how to attract them. The networking of
these merchants seems to be important in efficiently distributing wine products. But the collaboration
with such distributors also leads to increased costs in the case of Chateau Margaux. In case the
company decides to control its distribution chain, the costs can be reduced. However, this can have
certain disadvantages. Therefore, the company s managers must determine what the company should
do about its distribution process and marketing strategy.
Situation Analysis
The situation of Chateau Margaux can be attributed to the fact that the company has a reduced
marketing activity. The competitive business environment in the wine industry requires important
marketing activities that are intended to help improve the brand s position on the international market.
Therefore, the problems that the company s managers must address refer to developing the marketing
strategy in accordance with the characteristics and necessities of the wine market.

Demand, Supply, Market Equilibrium and Elasticity
Demand, Supply, Market Equilibrium and Elasticity A. Elasticity of demand is shown when the
demands for a service or goods vary according to the price. Cross price elasticity is shown by a change
in the demand for an item relative to the change in the price of another. For substitutes, when there is a
price increase of an item, there is an increase in the demand for another item. When viewing
complements, if there is an increase in the price of an item, the demand for another item decreases.

E. An example of availability of substitutes is bottled water. Because there are so many brands of
bottled water on the market, it makes it very easy for consumers to switch to another brand if the price
changes on the brand they normally purchase. With the many brands available, the demand for this
certain brand would surely decrease, decreasing revenue for the company. An example of share of
consumer income devoted to a good is sugar versus a 20 lb. bag of Pedigree dog food. If the price on
these items were increased by 15%, consumers would notice the price on the dog food before the
sugar. Normally, the dog food costs approximately $15 and the bag of sugar normally costs $3. The
dog food s price would increase to $17.25, while the bag of sugar would only cost $3.45. Consumers
would still purchase the sugar and would have no impact on the demand; however, consumers may
begin looking for substitutes for the dog food, which will begin decreasing the company s revenue. An
example of consumers time horizon is when stopping to the local convenience store to purchase gas
for the vehicle. Normally, the price of gas only fluctuates $0.02 to $0.03/gallon on any given day. If,
one day, the store decides to increase the price of gas by $0.15/gallon, there will, more than likely, not
be any fluctuations on the demand initially because consumers normally go to this store to purchase
gas and don t really think about how much the gas costs or are running late or the

Dante In The Inferno Character Analysis
In the journey to the other world in the Inferno, Virgil function as a guide to Dante as they go down
through the gates of Hell. However, Virgil s function is not limited just as a guidance to Dante, but
also as an instructor and communicator. As their journey processes through the gates of Hell, Virgil
explains to Dante the characteristic and structures of the concentric rings of Hell and the punishment

but Virgil does not show any sympathy to the souls and reminds Dante the these souls are receiving

The tropical rainforest is located all around the world. For example, the Amazon Rainforest, the

to bed in peace and sleep until dawn. Night after night they must give in to their husbands pleasure.
Even if a woman s body is wracked with pain, the husband is bothered only with his own satisfaction.
Women are overwhelmed and crushed by their own disgust, boredom and exhaustion, because of all
this. The stronger ones somehow manage to survive all this. The ones who don t have the mental
strength are totally oppressed; they succumb to mental ill health and act as if they are possessed by

Examples Of Misunderstandings In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Misunderstandings
As represented in the story A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor, a good man was hard
to be and had different ideas of how to pursue it. Going through the journey with the grandmother and
son and learning about the Misfit, the audience can witness the actions being made by different
characters to witness their fall and/or their triumph.
When looking into the grandmother more deeply, the audience can detect the intensity of her self
absorption . She would consider herself a lady with high standards of herself. In case of an accident,
anyone seeing her dead on the highway would know at once that she was a lady (O Connor 297). Even
in the most gruesome cases, she would want to be known as being the high status. Character ... Show

A lady in the years O Conner wrote this story meant to have morals, to be respectful, and to be
modest. The grandmother wanted nothing less than to have and look the best at all times. However,
the situation changes when the grandmother and her family get into the wreck and her navy blue straw
sailor hat (O Conner 297) falls off. As they all are recovering from the wreck, three men arrive on the
scene of the car in the ditch. Suddenly, the grandmother recognizes one of the men as the Misfit. The
grandmother began telling the Misfit I know you must come from nice people. (O Connor 304) She
expressed her ideas that the Misfit was good, as long as, he thought like her. Not knowing what was
about to happen, the audience saw a hidden message in the text which revealed a change with the
grandmother. The Grandmother reached up to adjust her hat... but it came

Hamlet s Manipulation In Ophelia
Midway through Hamlet, Ophelia is well under the control of Polonius and Hamlet. They are both
manipulating and using her as a pawn as to get what they want and she has little to no say about it. Act
2, scene 1 serves as a turning point, as it is when Ophelia begins to realize the manipulation she faces
at the hands of both her father and Hamlet, and that she can only truly gain her freedom when she
herself descends into madness. Polonius manipulation, Hamlet s control and Ophelia s own thoughts
and actions demonstrate her descent, and the aftermath.
Polonius image and plans take precedence over his daughter s physical and mental wellbeing. This
leaves her vulnerable and in danger in regards to Hamlet. When Ophelia describes Hamlet accosting
her, Polonius reacts by saying: This is the very ecstasy of love, Who s violent property fordoes itself,
And leads the will to desperate undertakings As oft as any passion under heaven That does afflict our
nature (2.1.102 107)
Love is personified in this instance. It is seen as violent and desperate, and as something that can
shatter one s being and take control of one s self, much like it did with Hamlet in his own madness.
Polonius explains all of this to Ophelia, but does not give her any instruction as to what she should do
in respect to the situation, and his passiveness really shows. Any fight that she had in her at the
beginning of the scene has been lost; she ultimately submits to her father when she realizes that

Gender Roles In The Cult Of True Womanhood
A gender role is a social role that shows the acceptable behaviors and attitudes based on a person s
sexuality. Gender roles and stereotypes are centered on the concepts of femininity and masculinity.
Gender roles differ with each culture in the way that they are accepted. Gender roles date all the way
back to the Industrial Revolution, which took place around the 19th century. Men did all the hard labor
while the women looked after the cottages and cared for the children during this time, that was the
gender norms back then.
Women s gender stereotypes came through The Cult of True Womanhood, which was an idea that
came about in 1820. True Womanhood according to The Cult of True Womanhood, were piety, purity,

During World War 2 there were many deaths of men and this created a depression of workmen in the
factories as the men had to leave their jobs and go fight in the war. Women started working in the
factories but they were mainly the lower and middle class women, while the upper class women
stayed at home and cared for their children. Women were allowed to work in the factories during
World War 2 as the leaders said it was only temporary, this allowed the men not to get so uptight about
the women coming in and working. Men were still the dominant sex at this time. It wasn t until 1948
when the Women s Armed Service Integration Act actually recognized women as a permanent part of
the armed forces. This act had a huge impact on the women as it led to more equality between women
and men. Many social gender norms were challenged through this time such as women served in the
military and women were given jobs in the factories, this was never allowed before World War

The Importance Of Food In Chicago
There are a lot of options when it comes to food in Chicago. Chicago is known for their delicious deep
dish pizza. For example, it was my mom and I s first night in Chicago and we were extremely hungry.
We were in our hotel room and my mom was searching the web for a good place to eat. She found a
place called Pizanos . The restaurant was famous for their deep dish pizza and was recommended by
Frank Sinatra. My mom said It s two miles away. Are you up for the walk? . At that point I was willing
to do anything to get food in my stomach. I said Yes, let s go . The two mile walk was so worth it. The
pizza was fresh and tasty. So tasty that we ended up ordering it to our hotel the next night. In addition
to the great pizza, Chicago also offers

The Importance Of Overcoming Fear
Imagine every dream you ve ever wanted to accomplish, and every goal you hoped to achieve. Now,
Imagine never getting to do any of those things. That is what happens to people who are too scared to
pursue their dreams, so they lead lives full of longing for something they never get. The greatest
obstacle most people face in achieving their dreams is self doubt, and if they could overcome their
own fears, they would lead much happier lives. Fear. It takes hold of even the strongest man when he
least expects it. The crippling feeling of self doubt, the constant nagging thoughts of ¨do I dare?¨,
¨should I even try?¨ can lead to anxiety and other mental health issues. The key to overcoming fear
and self doubt is tackling the problem head on. There´s no one solution to every fear, but by doing
what is scary and not letting it stop them, people can overcome almost anything. For example, if you
re scared of rejection, apply to one of the most famous colleges in the world. It won t hurt to try, and if
you are accepted you get a great education. Simple exercises like that can help boost confidence and
reduce your anxiety about achieving what you want in life. That s the best part about pushing past
your fears, the feelings of pride and accomplishment resulting from doing something difficult.
Overcoming fears leads to unfathomable delight, and a more fulfilling life. It is crucial to seize all of
the opportunities presented in life because they often only come around once.

Explain The Reasons Why Language Change Over Time
There are many reasons why language change over time. Social, cultural and even age factors are
some of the major influences in how language change. Language tells us a lot about each country and
holds information that can be traced back in history and cultural background. Every country has its
own way of living, they have their own rules and regulations. Everything that makes that country what
it is, is passed down from generation to generation. When we learn a language, we aren t only taught
that language, we are also taught the culture of the nation that it belongs to. It s truly difficult to
accurately understand a language without understanding the culture associated with it. Rev SJ du Toit

Because of migration, we are exposed to different languages and with language always changing a
developing we see the adaptation of the of new words or new meanings of existing words. Learning a
new language is also regarded as a social process rather than an individual achievement. Everyone has
their own way of speaking and communicating with others. Which gives amazing experiences because
we all know that the way people generally think is the same way they generally communicate. When
different ethnic society is combined, they tend to force the development of words that are not frequent.
Ethnic diversity and variations are usually the influence that drives the rule of language. Language
variation is affected by ethnic groups because they often have to learn a language that is specific to
their environment. Although they consider their language to be their identity they are often forced to
substitute it with another or combine it. Take for instance an immigrant that arrives in a new country.
They have their own language and their own way of speaking however that have to quickly adopt the
new language however they may still incorporate some of their own language with the new dominant

A decision will be drawn from here. This process is characteristic of the inquisitorial model. In a case
of theft, such as petty theft, it is considered a misdemeanor and under civil law it would involve
investigation by civil servants called procurators (Law and Society, p 57). The case would be tried
under civil law and a defendant in civil litigation is never incarcerated and never executed. A losing
defendant in a civil litigation is only expected to reimburse the plaintiff for the goods stolen. Punitive
damages are usually never awarded unless the defendant had malicious intent or gross negligence. If
damages are awarded and the defendant does not have assets or insurance, the plaintiff will receive
nothing even though the court awarded monetary damages (http://www.rbs2.com/cc.htm). Identify any
other factors for consideration. Would the fact that your friend is female impact her treatment under
the law in this country? In France, the fact that she is a female would not have an impact on the
outcome of her crime. The same process would apply whether she is female or male. In civil law, the
wrongdoer is not punished; he only suffers so much harm as is necessary to make good the wrong he
or she has done (http://www.rbs2.com/cc.htm). The criminal label you would have imposed upon you
seems to be suffering enough, for most, under civil law. When

  • 2. Mandate Of Heaven Analysis Throughout pre unification China, the Mandate of Heaven was used as a justification in the acquisition and eradication of dynasties. The Mandate of Heaven, the idea that a ruler reigned only with the blessing of the heavens, was seen as a way to legitimize a dynasty and its ruler. Although it may seem as if a heavenly mandate gives a ruler absolute power, this is actually not the case. Instead, Mencius, a philosopher who emphasizes benevolent governance, asserts that a ruler can both acquire and lose the heavenly mandate based on his behavior and the treatment of his subjects. If a ruler is not equitable, in other words, the Mandate of Heaven can be withdrawn and bestowed upon a more qualified ruler. Thus, although the mandate sounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially, the heavens bestow the mandate upon the ruler, but the people are a factor in whether the mandate stays with the ruler or not. Hence, Mencius emphasizes the importance of just rule in order to please the people and keep the Mandate of Heaven. Mencius once again underscores the people s role in the heavenly mandate and declares their right to either abide by or revolt against a ruler. Mencius claims that rulers only possessed the Heavenly Mandate to rule so long as they retained the hearts of the people . . . For Mencius, the human heart was endowed with the ability to judge between right and wrong and constituted a bridge linking man with Heaven (Glanville 331). Mencius s belief in the ability of the heart to determine right or wrong gives the common people authority and power to identify whether a ruler is worthy of the mandate and the favor of the heavens. Consequently, it is imperative that the ruler retains the people s support as negative sentiments can lead to dissent and organized revolt amongst the people. This emphasis on the intimate and powerful link between the people and the heavens is translated in Mencius s concept of the ultimate supremacy of the people. Mencius declares that The people are of supreme importance; the altars to the gods of earth and grain come next; last comes the ruler (Glanville 332). Mencius prioritizes the ... Mossy fiber axons projecting from the suprapyramidal blade aborize stratum lucidum first after they enter the suprapyramidal bundle. This is another example of the high organizaton of the neuronal trajectory in hippocampal formationcite{2}cite{6}. There are two main pathways originating from the CA3 neurons, the first is the direct projection of these neurons towards the fimbria and the second is the subsequent collateral pathway created by the backward propagation of the diverged CA3 axonscite{1}. These axons, known as Schaffer collaterals, are the main excitatory input to the pyramidal cells located in the first region of hippocampus proper, an innervation mediated through the distal dendritic spines of the CA1 neurons in an en passant fashioncite{7}, where the synaptic transmission occurs along the axonal bodycite{8}cite{7}. The CA1 neurons, in turn, innervate other hippocampal areas by sending their axons toward the fimbria, subiculum and contralateral hippocampus via the associational commisural pathway and forms the main output of the hippocampal ... • 5. Analysis Of There Will Come Soft Rains Science Fiction Science fiction is a genre that has characteristics such as a futuristic setting and a human element. It is based on controversial areas of science or specific theories that have not yet been proven to be true. Science fiction works depict what may happen in the future as an effect of what technology and events exist presently. The genre of the short story There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury is identifiable as science fiction through the setting, character and plot. Firstly, the setting of the short story is a huge indicator that the genre is science fiction. It takes place August 24, 2026 on a rainy day in a community where everything is destroyed, except for one house. During the nighttime the ruined city gave off a radioactive glow which could be seen for miles (Bradbury). The radioactive glow infers that nuclear war had obliterated everything. Since this hasn t happened yet, but isn t a totally unbelievable event in the future, it can be classified as science fiction. The one house standing is a completely different setting. The house was made to take care of itself and all the people who used to live inside it. For example, after the house prepared breakfast which no one ate, dirty dishes were dropped into a hot washer and emerged twinkling dry. Nine fifteen, sang the clock, time to clean (Bradbury). Self sufficient houses don t exist yet, so it must be technology from the future and thus science fiction. Another aspect of the setting in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analyzing the Characteristics of Kind Lear Essay Analyzing the Characteristics of Kind Lear Lear is the protagonist, whose willingness to believe his older daughters empty flattery leads to the deaths of many people. In relying on the test of his daughters love, Lear demonstrates that he lacks common sense or the ability to detect his older daughters falseness. Lear cannot recognize Cordelia s honesty amid the flattery, which he craves. The depth of Lear s anger toward Kent, his devoted follower, suggests excessive pride Lear refuses to be wrong. Lear wants to remain in charge of his destiny, even though the choices he makes are poor or filled with danger. Thus, Lear chooses to go out into the storm because he must retain some element of control. The only other choice is to acquiesce to his daughters control, and for Lear, that option is not worth considering. Lear is stubborn, like a willful child, and this is just one additional way in which he tries to deal with the events controlling his life. Lear flees into the storm, as a child flees a reality too harsh to accept. In spite of his despair and self pity, Lear is revealed as a complex man, one whose punishment far exceeds his foolish errors, and thus, Lear is deserving of the audience s sympathy. Eventually, Lear displays regret, remorse, empathy, and compassion for the poor, a population that Lear has not noticed before. Lear focuses on the parallels he sees to his own life, and so in a real sense, his pity for the poor is also a reflection of the pity he feels for his own situation. Lear is the anointed king, God s representative, and thus, he shares the responsibility for dispensing justice on earth. Along with its keystone and sentinel role in its eco system, sea otters have important interactions with abiotic and biotic factors. Sea otters have an effect on the abiotic factors of their ecosystem, which include the ocean waves and currents as well as the levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air. They affect those abiotic factors through the controlling of sea urchin populations who, without the sea otter, would decimate the kelp forests that in turn serve as a barrier to ocean currents and waves, providing protection for other marine animals from those elements (Laustsen). The sea otters consumption of urchins also ensures that kelp forest growth prevents soil erosion and that its photosynthesis reduces the amount of carbon dioxide and increases the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere (Nielsen). Chemicals and toxins from plastic bottles escape into water systems. Animals get cut on sharp metal or broken glass and get stuck inside bins and containers. When food litter is littered from a vehicle, it brings animals to the road, and then they run onto incoming traffic and quickly become road kill, that can hurt your car. These are some environmental effects that litter can do. There is also an economic aspect to the harms of litter. The amount of cultural and intellectual innovation in Greece was at its height during the nearly 200 year period. From 500 300 BC, many great thinkers and philosophers rose and gave many a new perspective on life. As Matt Barrett explained, many philosopers, such as Socrates, dwelled in Athens, along with his then pupil, Plato. Socrates was one of the first of the philosophers to believe that life was not for collecting material possesions, or riches, but that it was for knowing oneself and the world around oneself. Socrates was later executed and forced to drink Hemlock for corrupting the youth of the city. Plato, Socrates pupil, was considered an idealist. Furthermore, according to Barrett, it is said that all philosophy is but a footnote to Plato. Use Of Distance Education Within A Rural Setting Essay The Use of Distance Education in Continuing Interprofessional Education within a Rural Setting Interprofessional education (IPE) is an imperative form of educating a variety of healthcare professionals (HCPs). With factors such as an ageing population and an increase in the number of patients with chronic health conditions, patient care has become more complex, requiring HCPs to work together collaboratively. While many institutions initiate education for new HCPs with IPE as a part of existing curriculum, current staff working in clinical areas require continuing education to educate on how to work efficiently in the interprofessional team after they obtain their licensing. Continuing interprofessional education (CIPE) is an important part of ongoing HCP education to ensure HCPS maintain a continued focus and practice on working in an interprofessional environment. While larger tertiary centres employ educators with an ability to conduct CIPE, rural and isolated urban areas experience greater difficulty in managing CIPE, thus a distance education focus is required. An understanding of the efficiency of distance education in the CIPE setting, in addition to the most effective methods of providing CIPE is required for educators with an interdisciplinary focus in the rural setting. • 25. Elie Wiesel Holocaust Survivor Essay Elie Wiesel Holocaust Survivor As war broke out in Europe during 1939, no one could either imagine or believe the terror that Adolf Hitler would soon bring to the lives of Jewish people. Drawing from his paranoia and a drive for a world Nazi power, Hitler singled out the Jews as the cause for problems in Germany and began to carry out his plan for the destruction of a part of humanity. Hitler not only persecuted the Jews of Germany, but he also targeted the Jews in Poland and other parts of Europe, such as Transylvania, which was the home of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. Moesh solemnly told Elie of what really went on in Galicia; after exiting the trains, the Jews were forced to dig massive graves and then wait in line to be murdered. Even children were tossed into the air as prey for the guards machine guns. Moesh had escaped only because he was injured and presumed dead. During the following days and nights, Moesh spread his story throughout the community in an effort to warn his people of the impending terror, but no one believed him. Some said, He s just trying to make us pity him. What an imagination he has. 2 Many people thought Moesh had just simply gone mad, and even Wiesel denied the stories of his friend. The Jews not only denied the warnings of Moesh, but also disbelieved that Hitler planned to exterminate them. Wiesel summarized the general feeling of the community by stating, Could he exterminate a population scattered throughout so many countries? So many millions! What methods could he use? And in the middle of the twentieth century! 3 Other reports indicate that the Jews did not believe that Hitler s attempted genocide was occurring. Newspaper articles about the murders were shrugged off as panic inducers because killing such large numbers was incomprehensible; many believed that the deportees were sent away to do agricultural work, but they would soon learn otherwise.4 As Passover arrived in Wiesel neighborhood so did the Hungarian police, forcing Jews to turn over their ... • 26. A Serious Talk By Raymond Carver Deepak Chopra once said, In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself. In A Serious Talk by Raymond Carver, the reader observed tension due to the absence of progression in developing a serious conversation. This conversation was planned by Burt, the protagonist of this story, to relieve the troublesome relationship between him and his ex wife, Vera. By letting go, Burt could release portions of his past that included his family; although, he could move on to be happy and find his true meaning in life. Burt should be for the process of letting go because it would allow him to find his true presence in life, eradicate the past which holds him down and reveal the path of his future. The feeling of not understanding your presence in life can be frustrating and sometimes leads to mental issues. By Burt trying to start a serious conversation with Vera, he thought it may resolve problems rather than resulting in a fight. Burt does not know his place in life due to his lack of letting go of Vera and his kids, which creates stress for him. Burt showed his lack of releasing them from his life by saying, I want to apologize to you for last night. I want to apologize to the kids, too (123). By Burt expressing his sorrow to Vera, one might say he has lost his place in life. It shows his desperation to find people who love him, however he is doing this incorrectly because he keeps going back to people who clearly do not care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Synopsis of Price Elasticity of Demand on Automobile Industry One definition of elasticity is what happens to consumer demand for a good when prices increase. As the price of a good rises, consumers will usually demand a lower quantity of that good, perhaps by consuming less, substituting other goods, and so on and the demand of complementary product will also be less. The greater the extent to which demand falls as price rises, the greater the price elasticity of demand. Conversely, as the price of a good falls, consumers will usually demand a greater quantity of that good, by consuming more, the demand of complementary will also rise, dropping substitutes, and so forth. However, there may be some goods that consumers require, cannot consume less of, and cannot find substitutes for even if prices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the oil price will rise, the demand of auto industry will decrease. We will measure the responsiveness in the demand for commodity to a change in the price of commodity. The cross price elasticity of demand is very important concept in managerial decision making. Firms often use this concept to measure the effect of changing the price of a product they sell on the demand of other related products that the firm also sells. A high positive cross price elasticity of demand is often used to define an industry, since it indicates that various commodities are very similar. Further, elasticity will normally be different in the short term and the long term. For example, for many goods the supply can be increased over time by locating alternative sources, investing in an expansion of production capacity, or developing competitive products which can substitute. One might therefore expect that the price elasticity of supply will be greater in the long term than the short term for such a good, that is, that supply can adjust to price changes to a greater degree over a longer time. This applies to the demand side as well. For example, if the price of petrol rises, consumers will find ways to conserve their use of the resource. However, some of these ways, like finding a more fuel efficient car, take time. So consumers as well may be less able to adapt to price shocks in the short term than in the long term. ... An example of availability of substitutes is bottled water. Because there are so many brands of bottled water on the market, it makes it very easy for consumers to switch to another brand if the price changes on the brand they normally purchase. With the many brands available, the demand for this certain brand would surely decrease, decreasing revenue for the company. An example of share of consumer income devoted to a good is sugar versus a 20 lb. bag of Pedigree dog food. If the price on these items were increased by 15%, consumers would notice the price on the dog food before the sugar. Normally, the dog food costs approximately $15 and the bag of sugar normally costs $3. The dog food s price would increase to $17.25, while the bag of sugar would only cost $3.45. Consumers would still purchase the sugar and would have no impact on the demand; however, consumers may begin looking for substitutes for the dog food, which will begin decreasing the company s revenue. An example of consumers time horizon is when stopping to the local convenience store to purchase gas for the vehicle. Normally, the price of gas only fluctuates $0.02 to $0.03/gallon on any given day. If, one day, the store decides to increase the price of gas by $0.15/gallon, there will, more than likely, not be any fluctuations on the demand initially because consumers normally go to this store to purchase gas and don t really think about how much the gas costs or are running late or the ...
