Pitching Under Pressure
Perfect Pitching Under Pressure There are two outs in the bottom of the ninth of the World Series; the
team in the field is up by one and the best hitter is coming up the plate. The pitcher takes a deep breath
and realizes what had to be done. Three strikes and the game was over, but that seemed an eternity
away with the overwhelming pressure mounting. How could the pitcher move past the pressure and
get the last out? The answer would more than likely surprise most people. It is common knowledge
that the pitcher must physically be in the right positions to throw a strike, but it is quite the opposite
for the mental side of pitching. The mental aspect plays a much larger factor than most people would
presume and in reality, it is just as important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is surprisingly common for a pitcher who is having problems outside the sport that would affect
their mental health to see a decrease in their in sport performance. In her article on
PsychologyToday.com, Laura Miele says in general Negative external or internal psychological
factors can lead to mental blocks, causing breaks in focus and preparation, poor performance and, at
times, injuries to the athlete. The most basic example of this would be some non sport related activity
or interaction that would distract the pitcher during play. As stated earlier in the essay, focus on
throwing strikes is of paramount importance in order to be successful and any activity or interaction
that would take that focus away would be a distraction that would affect performance. In addition, an
overall feeling of depression would greatly affect a pitchers well being in and outside of the sport. As
was also stated earlier, pitchers must have confidence in themselves and their ability and depression is
in one faced a lowered self confidence. Depression and anxiety commonly go hand in hand and
together or alone they can greatly influence sport performance. One example of a baseball player who
faced depression and saw a drastic change in performance is Joey Votto, first basemen for the
Cincinnati Reds. He said in an interview with Bleacher Report during the 2009 season The stuff I was
dealing with off the field finally seeped its way into the game. After taking time off from the game and
getting his personal life in order, he came back to win the NL MVP, the most valuable player award,
the next year. It is very uncommon to think of the impact that psychological problems can have on
finding success in pressure situations, but the evidence shows that the connection is clear and players
and coaches should be more aware of

How Did Donatello Influence The Italian Renaissance
The Italian Renaissance was a marvelous time period. During this time, many new artists emerged.
The Florentine sculptor named Donatello was a marvelous sculptor to walk planet earth. Through the
sculptural advancements in the use of human anatomy, Donatello created the sculptural influence
during the Renaissance. Many would say that Donatello was unquestionably one of the key figures in
Italian Renaissance history. Donatello significantly reinvented the meaning of sculpture during his the
Italian Renaissance. These influences were carried on through the generations and are still seen in
many sculptures created today. In lesser detail, the way Donatello used human anatomy, perspective,
and realism in his work was like no other at the time, Donatello worked with a variety of materials,
but Donatello s profound knowledge laid in the hands of bronze. Some of Donatello s most notable
pieces are called The Feast of Herod, Saint Mark, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Donatello created this time period of realistic and influenced other artists to try the Italian Renaissance
style (or his style), which many artists began to follow and eventually everyone veered away from the
Gothic style that was prevalent during the medieval ages. Donatello showed people that paying
attention to human realism and human anatomy when creating a sculptor is important because it
creates a fine aspect of the art. To this day, many people look up to Donatello s style of techniques and
use his techniques because Donatello s techniques were simply unheard of and so new and original
when Donatello began using the techniques. Donatello reflected the ideas of the Italian Renaissance
by showing people new art styles and ways that people fell in love with and people began using it
which helped create the Italian Renaissance art style of anatomy, realism, and

Comparison between kinetic and kinematic response for barefoot vs shod foot running
Introduction
Running has changed the course of human time frame and its importance, within time people have
costumed to routine involving running. Research has led to believe that our ancestors mastered how to
run in need for scavenging, hunting for food; throughout time biomechanics of running changed our
anatomy by evolution (Lieberman,2004). Bramble (2004) states that humans have both strength in
running but weak in sprinting within evolution High speed is not important . Running shoes have
evolved to improve and support performance, it is known that during the middle Palaeolithic years
shoes were worn at about 40,000 years ago.

It was predicted that landing plantarflexed ankle during barefoot would create short stride lengths,
whereas with shod showed a significant difference at the ankle joint when landing at dorsiflex angle
where the stride length would be greater (Gallozzi, 2009).
In spite of the investigation between barefoot and shod running, there has not been any exact answer
to which running mechanics is best to improvement athletes. The study is based on the difference
between barefoot and shod running biomechanics within peak breaking force, ground, contact time,
ankle angle and peak breaking force.
Method
Participants
The study contained 40 undergraduate sports students with different types of capabilities within sports.
Ages (20.3 ± 1.7 years), height (1.76m ± 0.7m) and body mass (75.1kg ± 12.9kg) of these participants
were recorded from the study beforehand. The participants whom took part would have to fill out a
written consent form alongside a written PAR Q form and have to be injury free, before taking part
during the study.
Procedure
The procedure had a group of participants where border design was applied in the experiment to
exclude the effects of learning of how the results would impact in the condition of running barefoot vs
shod. The participants were instructed to practice a few

The Theory Behind Absolute Advantage
Over many years there has been many conceptual theories devised to help explain the reasons why
there is trade within the world accompanied by the possibilities that gains could or could not be made.
This piece of work will examine four main theories put forward by Adam Smith (Absolute advantage,
1776) which was then expanded on by David Ricardo with his theory of the Ricardian Model
(Comparative advantage, 1817). Also including the Heckscher Ohlin model (relative factor
abundance, 1919, 1933) and the ideas of New Trade Theory (Economies of Scale and Imperfect
Competition). These ideas will be evaluated and synthesised to see if these explanations truly explain
the reasons of trade theory.
Absolute advantage was an idea suggest by Adam Smith in 1817. The theory behind absolute
advantage suggests that if a country is highly skilled and efficient in producing a certain good with the
fewer resources, then it is believed that a specific country has an absolute advantage in the production
of that good (Sloman Garratt, 2013). However Absolute advantage can only occur if the country using
its resources for a specific good/service does so efficiently otherwise no gains are made from trading.
Although it can be argued that the idea of Absolute advantage does not particularly make much sense
in explaining trade patterns. As said in Feenstra s and Taylors book, Absolute advantage does not
particularly help to explain the case of why the US imports snowboards from places like China

Fifty Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl
Slavery offered blacks an era of misfortune, giving them a time of fear, pain, and absolute control
from the hands of a slave owner. There are countless stories, each with their own ballad of misery and,
in some rare occasions, victory in the form of freedom, but it was not as common. In Fifty Years in
Chains, a narrative written by Charles Ball, Ball states that most could be sold for a good price (Ball),
showing how human life, such as himself, was auctioned off like an object, rather than being treated
like a living being. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, by Harriet A. Jacobs, Jacobs describes her
sad epoch in the life of a slave girl (Jacobs) and paints a picture of how her master, resorted to many

Abortion.
The tittle of the article I will be analyzing is republicans seek to put abortion on the front burner in
2016 . The article was published in U.S. News and World Report, written by Tierney Sneed. Abortion
is a never ending debate, it is one of the most common medical procedures performed in the United
States each year. Abortion is also one of the most debated topics of all time, it is a never ending debate
of whether it should be legal for women to terminate pregnancy. Some people are against abortion
while others are for it. people that are against abortion also known as pro life believe that women
should not have an abortion because it would be considered murder, ... Show more content on

While Americans long have been split on the general question of abortion though a majority do
believe it should be legal in at least some circumstances, a number of polls show that a majority of
voters oppose abortion after 20 weeks (Sneed). The republicans have proposed a bill that bans
abortion after twenty weeks, if a person were to have an abortion after this time period it will be
considered illegal and there will be consequences. If a woman was raped and got pregnant if she does
not wish to have the child according to the new law being proposed, that said woman has to report the
rape to the police and then she can proceed with the abortion. As stated by the article, Abortion rights
supporters counter with polling that shows voters are more supportive of abortions after 20 weeks in
cases of fetal abnormalities (Sneed). In some extreme cases a few people believe that abortion should
be allowed after the twenty week time period has passed, for instance in situations where it s not safe
for the fetus and or the mother to continue with the pregnancy, or if the baby will have some sort of
birth defects. All republican presidential candidates and those considering to join the presidential
candidate race are all supporting the twenty week abortion ban. Americans have been clear that they
do not want politicians to interfere with their health care decisions. Meanwhile

The Brandon Teena Story Sociology
The film The Brandon Teena Story followed the story of Teena Brandon s, who went by the name
Brandon, death in Nebraska. Brandon lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a male, despite him being born as
a female, at the start of the film. The audience was informed that Brandon had been behaving, acting,
and living as a male for years. Brandon s mother, Joann Brandon, had previously sent Brandon to
counseling to treat his attempts and ideas about suicide, and presumably his gender dysphoria.
However, after returning from counseling, Brandon s want of being of man was only solidified. In the
middle of November 1993, Brandon moved to Falls City Nebraska. It was in Falls City, Nebraska
where Brandon met and befriended ex convicts Tom Nissen and ... Show more content on

A gender ideology is a set of ideas widely shared by members of a society that guides identities,
behaviors, and institutions (Wade, et. al. 2015). Until Brandon s sex was discovered, almost everyone
that he interacted with daily believed that he was a male from birth. Nobody really questioned
Brandon s gender or sex because they believed that he exemplified the typical idea of a man. In the
film, Brandon s friends and ex girlfriends all described him as a male based mostly on Brandon s
gender expression, looks, and hobbies. The people in the film all described how Brandon would wear
clothes for men, sit with his legs open, and talk about girls and cars. Even Nissen s sister described
how one time her, Brandon, and others, were in a van and Brandon had to go to the bathroom and tried
to pee out of a window. All of these factors made up the people who Brandon interacted with schemas
about gender. Nobody ever thought about Brandon maybe being a female because their cultural lens, a
male does everything Brandon does, so he is a male. This concept also shows up later in the film when
Brandon was questioned by a woman about whether he was truly a male. The deciding factor for this
woman on whether Brandon was a man or not, was determined by if he had a penis. This woman s
idea of a traditional man involved a penis; so if Brandon did not have one Brandon could not have
been a man. However, the woman, because of her pre existing conceptions, she did not think that
maybe one does not need a penis to be a male. For example, disregarding transsexuals and
transgendered people, a male could have been castrated, effectively removing his penis. However, just
because his penis is gone, he is usually still seen as a male. Castration of males was done throughout
history whether it was Chinese or Roman Slaves (Tougher 2013), or as a dedication to one s religion

Gilligan s Island Essay
Gilligan s Island
No inhabitants, a major tourists spot, a clear blue ocean, but no sign of the Professor, the Skipper, or
Mary Ann. Can you guess where this is? You got it! Gilligan s Island located in the beautiful South
Atlantic Ocean.
During Spring Break of 2003, my best friend, Danielle, and I took a flight to Orlando, Florida, a car to
Fort Lauderdale, and a cruise through the Bahamas that had beautiful subtropical weather. For one day
out of four during the cruise, we were able to chose what we wanted to do whether it was snorkeling,
shopping, or taking an off land excursion to Gilligan s Island. Of course, Danielle and I chose sun
tanning on the beautiful, sandy beaches at Gilligan s Island.

Walking underneath the palm trees, Danielle and I found a white, cozy hammock that we could lounge
in for a few minutes. We were lying there and realized that we could see from one edge of the island to
the other edge. Not a very big island. Soon, we had enough of the hammock and we decided to enjoy
the wonderful Bahamas sun and warm, perfect weather that didn t involve rain or snow. We set out
across the rocky sand to find a beach. As we followed the cement sidewalk, we came to a beach with
tiny, tiny white sand granules, and not a rock in sight. We picked a spot in the sand, lathered on the oil,
and baked . After about an hour of the hot, hot, sun, we took a dip in the seventy degree, clear, clean,
blue water. Not a wave in sight and nothing to complain about. As we enjoyed the water that was only
four feet deep all the way to the other side of the one hundred yard bay, we say many seashells
beneath our feet and decided that these would make great souvenirs. We picked up a couple white,
cream, and brown seashells and headed back up the sandy beach to our towels where we were going to
flip and take in some more glorious sunshine. Two hours later, we decided that we were hungry, so we
packed up our beach gear and headed back up the cement sidewalk to the big brown pavilion where
the food was to be served.

The Iron Giant Character Analysis
Griffin Sikes
Christian Beliefs
15 November 2017
The Iron Giant was a movie that I believe had many different theological theme. But for me the one
theme that stuck out the most was of Christ and his sacrifice for us. Just like Christ sacrificed his life
for us The Iron Giant sacrificed himself for the people of Rockwell. In this paper we are going to look
at how The Iron Giant and the journey Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us are similar, we will also
look at how we are supposed to live life like a child.
In order for us to look at this movie theologically we have to know what happened. In this movie a 50
foot tall robot crash lands on earth. He is later found by Hogarth Hough and they become friends and
they do a lot of stuff together. Eventually the army gets called and they try and destroy this monster
but this just made the giant mad and he began defending himself. At the end of the movie and bomb is
launched at the giant that will kill everyone. The Iron Giant decides to sacrifice himself for his friend
and the people of Rockwell.
The first thing I want to point out was this line from Kent Mansley who said.
No, Marv. Big things happen in big places, and the sooner I file my report, the sooner I can get back to
them. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129167/quotes)
I point this out because people didn t think big things could come out of a small town like Rockwell.
Just like people not thinking something good could come out of Rockwell,

Speech On Polar Bear
Land without ice is a very difficult environment for polar bears. This was proven by Canadian
photographer Paul Nicklen and Sea Legacy filmmakers when they arrived on Baffin Island in late
summer. They came face to face with a shocking sight a polar bear, starved and slowly dying.
We stood there crying filming with tears rolling down our cheeks, said Nicklen.
In the video, the polar bear was limping and hanging by a thread of life. The animal had a thin and
bony frame, covered with white fur, while its back legs were likely suffering from muscle atrophy due
to wasting. It rummaged a nearby trashcan used by Inuit fishers seasonally, however, nothing was
edible. The polar bear dejectedly collapsed on the ground, deprived of food.
Nicklen thought of helping the bear but without a tranquilizer gun or 400 pounds of seal meat, he
could do nothing. Also, feeding polar bears in Canada is illegal. Nicklen also considered not to
prolong the agony of the poor animal, instead, he recorded the bear s slow death from starvation.
When scientists say bears are going extinct, I want people to realize what it looks like. Bears are going
to starve to death. This is what a starving bear looks like, Nicklen stressed out.
The heartbreaking sight of the starving and dying polar beat was a sign on how deadly climate change
to mankind and animals. According to climate scientists, the Arctic region is melting way too fast than
at any time in the last 1,500 years. Some parts of the region

Difference Between Formal And Less Formal Writing
Morphology Analysis: Formal vs Less Formal Writing Word choice in writing is influenced by the
context, just as is the case between formal speeches and informal ones. The kind of words in formal
and less formal writing gravitates between academic and formal, depending on the context and the
message being put across. The morphemes used in both formal (academic) and less formal (as is the
case in newspapers), vary. Formal writing uses different word forms and morphemes, due to the strict
nature of this kind of written communication. Less formal writing moves between using a lot of
morphemes and still maintaining a certain level of formality, so as to communicate effectively. In
some instances, less formal writing may even use colloquial language and a lot of morphemes. In this
discussion, the focus is on an academic form of writing and a less formal kind of writing, picked from
a newspaper. The discussion shall analyze how morphemes have been used in the two kinds of writing
and why this is the case. The first writing is a Classroom Research, which is just an introduction of the
research and sets the tone for the rest of the paper. The sentences are short and use few adjectives, as
the journal work seeks to strictly communicate facts and avoid the introduction of personal opinions.
The writing is objective and the morphemes used have affixes, to keep them short and precise. In the
journal paper, the writers used a lot of free words to create meaning and context. For example,

Coercive Control Summary
A Review of Evan Stark s Coercive Control Doctor Evan Stark began writing his book Coercive
Control: How Men Entrap Women in Personal Life in 1995. Unquestionably so, completing this book
was an extensive undertaking. His entrenchment and immersion in the field of domestic violence
relating to social work, legal/policy and research, spans far greater than the twelve years it took him to
complete this book in 2007. Stark draws from, and acknowledges, colleagues as well friendships that
have provided him with the knowledge base necessary to complete such an exhaustive work. Dr. Stark
s credentials in the area of violence against women developed through both his own academic career
and his professional achievements. Additionally, the network ... Show more content on

Stark explains that where women are already subordinate, wife beating is supported by the patriarchy
and is a function of specific factors. Under the law women were not equal citizens to men, so women
that were abused by their husbands or family members attributed it to bad luck. Industrialization
widened the work home divide. That is, work done in the home (women s work) and wage labour
(men s work) was separated by sex, and the latter was considered real work. In tandem with political
and legal gains, throughout the twentieth century the rate of women participating in the work forced
increased. As capitalism became the major form of social organization, and women were liberated and
emancipated from men and the private sphere, violence was no longer sufficient to enforce
dependence on individual men. Stark explains that this was because the material and political basis for
patriarchy was displaced, and the illogical privilege based solely on sex was exposed. Sexual
hierarchies began to collapse, and men began using a range of behaviours to compliment their use of
force. Although it was not specifically written about before the 1970s, this became known as coercive
control. Each household governed by coercive control, each relationship, becomes patriarchy in
miniature (p. 194). Stark concludes this section by

Digital And Digital Immigrants By Marc Presky
The article Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants by Marc Presky, appears in the book On the Horizon.
The article asserts that due to the the anacrusis of the digital age, this generation has changed
dramatically, thus, it is no longer possible to reach them through obsolete teaching methods, as it
comes close to teaching them in a foreign language. In order to solve this issue, Presky suggests that
we need to update our methodology in order to fit today s needs better.
In the beginning of the article, Prensky implies that student have changed dramatically, thus, are no

term, he names many examples such as bringing people physically into your office to see an
interesting web site (Prensky, Mark. Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants. Page. 2 2001) instead of
sending them an email (Prensky, Mark. Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants. Page. 2 2001).
Prensky complicates this matter when he embeds it into school routine. He endorses that to digital
natives it feels like they are being taught by foreigners who have no wrap their head around English
language yet.
However, this is a dilemma that only starts, rather than ends, at the lack of communication. By
introducing another example, he disputes that there is also a quarrel in the way of thinking in general.
Digital natives, for example, believe that studying should be fun and could easily be done, while, for
example, watching TV. This Digital Immigrants, however, deny up to this day; simply because they
were not capable of doing all those things, while they were young.
He then reminds us that, in spite of prevailing belief, one cannot simply presume that students
function the same way their teachers did when they were in school. As a result of this, he enters the
debate whether students should go back to their old ways or if teachers should have to learn this new

Detective Fiction And Crime Fiction
Detective fiction has often been perceived as a lesser form of literature. Many scholars believe that
detective fiction is below average in quality and does not offer much more beyond entertainment.
Time and time again detective fiction has been belittled for its quality of literature, being place below
other genres. Some scholars have come to the defense of detective fiction. Scholar R. Austin Freeman
stated, The status of the whole class has been fixed by an estimate formed from inferior samples
(Freeman) and this is true. Detective fiction has been plagued with average works, however, it does
offer more than just a story about crime. Detective fiction can be used as a medium to comment on
social issues. Early in the 20th century, the United States was still battling an epidemic of racism and
violence towards african americans. Continual incidents of lynchings, beatings, and verbal abuse
barraged the african american community. During this time period, detective fiction was used to
comment on this racial inequality by pushing for equality through underlying themes in stories.
Detective fiction offered works that were extremely progressive in regards to their comments on racial
inequality. Talma Gordon written in 1900 by Pauline Hopkins is a testament to that. The story begins
with a group of upper class men having a discussion in the Canterbury Club in Boston. The men are
discussing their views on interracial marriage. Many in the club hypothesized that interracial

Gender Equality And Gender Inequality
Women. We are the subordinate class. Our portrayal in the real world has proven this fact to many.
Many people ask how could a women even be considered an equal? With the lesser pay and respect
we are given, it is not very surprising this question is being asked. Yet we are also growing up in the
age of Oprah Winfrey, Hilary Clinton, Malala Yousafzai who all represent the strong and empowering
qualities women hold. They fought to have a say, and now hold the respect of thousands. So the real
question one must ask is not regarding how women can be considered equal, it is regarding as to why
we are considered as lesser after having accomplished just as much as men, if not more? The gender
gap places woman on a lower pedestal. We are continually receiving less pay, despite possessing
similar knowledge and capabilities as men. An article from the World Economic Forum stated that the
pay gap is widening and having the opposite effect than planned despite [the] numerous initiatives to
break glass ceilings and force salary disclosure. This pressing issue is in dire need of a resolution. The
gender gap not only threatens women s individual rights, it violates the equal protection clause under
the fourteenth amendment which promises to protect women from sex discrimination. With the equal
protection clause in place that specifically declared the equal protection of the laws, one would have
hoped that gender equality fell within this criteria, however that is not the case.

Stereotypes Of Women In Sports
Though being athletic and masculine have been a man s physical description, women have fought to
prove those gender stereotypes wrong. Women have been defeating the odds of athleticism and
masculinity that men realized, but wanted to hide and not appreciate their work. Through time men
and women have made an effort to come together to bring attention to the downgrading of women in
sports to earn acknowledgement and respect. With this, history has described men and women s sports
as not equal but as history continues, women defeat the odds yet again. Women participating in
athletic activities and sports date back millennia. Stories of women playing ball dates back to 800 BC
in Homer s works of The Iliad. Until the 1870 s, women never had the luxury of sports classified for
women specifically. Multitasking was a high concern. People thought that each person had a set
amount of energy and multitasking would deplete this energy rapidly that could cause harm to that
individual. Women were highly encouraged to limit their activity so they would not fatigue their

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE Have you ever known a person who smokes
and has a hard time doing every day activities, due to difficulty of breath, or constantly coughing. He
or she may have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD. COPD is a progressive and
treatable lung disease that causes shortness of breath due to obstruction of air way (COPD, 2013).
Progressive means that is gradually gets worse over time. It is a combination of chronic bronchitis and
emphysema (Causes,2014). Chronic bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchioles, which causes
mucus build up (Davis,2016). Emphysema is when the air sacs get enlarged (Smoking, 2016). Since
the disease does not have a cure yet it is important to know pathology (path of disease), epidemiology
(who is effected in a population), ethology (who is effected genetically), manifestation (symptoms),
treatment, and outcome.
First step preventing COPD is to know how it affects the body and the path taken; this is called the
pathology. In normal, healthy breathing a person breathes in air that is moves through the bronchial
tubes to the bronchioles. At the end of the bronchioles there are air sacs called alveoli. The alveoli are
elastic air sacs that control the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide to the body (Smoking,
2016). The alveoli consist of elastic tissue so when a person breaths in the the alveoli can expand and
when the carbon dioxide is released it can deflate and return to it s normal size.

Becoming A Single-Parent
The pain of losing someone close to you, especially a parent, is never something you can ever quite
articulate. But, the lessons you learn and the person you become in the aftermath is a little easier to
explain. My mother was my best friend. She was ornery, funny, and brilliant in her own way. She
always knew how to soothe me and she always made the effort to, even when she was combatting her
own issues. In 2009, my parents divorced due to my father s anger issues and drug use. In addition to
becoming a single parent, she was also physically disabled due to work injuries and dealt with pain
almost constantly. Her death was May 26th, 2015, just six days after the end of my freshman year. The
exact details are burned into my memory, but at the same time the entire day is a blur. I remember the
train of emotions hurtling in myself and in my loved ones; the panic, the rage, and the absolute
heartbreak I experienced during what I dub The First Year .

Role Of Punishment In Roman Times
INTRODUCTION During Roman times crimes were taken very seriously, much like they are today.
However the consequences of some of these crimes were much more severe than in modern times. I
will be showing you different punishments given to both types of crimes and how they have changed
since these times. The laws of the 12 tables is the earliest code of law made by the romans and is also
an early and surviving source of literature from Romans. 2 THEFT The city of Rome was very busy
so it was easy for people to steal. This crime was also rarely committed by the wealthy as the poor
were said to be more likely to take the things they don t have, want and in some cases need.

reports were that they went to the Bahamas, but the family says they did not have supplies for that,
Barney told the Sun Sentinel. They did not pack water or food for two days. He said the single engine
boat provided only a small area of cover over the center console. Cohen s stepfather, Nick Korniloff,

intent of having numerous young adults read the novel, along with any adult space enthusiasts who
crave to learn about space, and the life that people have to endure as astronauts. In this novel, it is
stated that the genre is biological science. In my own opinion, this book is more of an informational
text or a documentary rather than biological science. However, the genre of this novel could easily be
perceived as a biography because every test and observational practice was discussed in such

Running uses many different laws of physics. Some specific laws or principles are Law of Pendulum;
Newton s First, Second, and Third Laws; velocity; acceleration; and friction. In our project, we will
focus specifically on Newton s three laws, the Law of Pendulum, and velocity. Running is defined by
the Merriam Webster Dictionary as to go faster than a walk; specifically : to go steadily by springing
steps so that both feet leave the ground for an instant in each step. This project will explain how the
aforementioned laws pertain to the physics of running. Those involved in running sports, for example

Velocity is the rate of change of an object s position and is a function of time. You can find the speed
that someone goes by knowing how far they went and how long it took them to get there. The
equation used to find velocity is v=d/t; v is velocity, d is distance traveled, and t is time. Someone who
runs the 3200m in 12 minutes runs at an average speed of 266.67 m/min. For a runner who wants to
improve their time in a race, they need to cover more distance per minute. To achieve running an 11
minute 30 second 3200m a person would run at an average pace of 278.26m/min. This is found by
using the same equation v=d/t. This is used to find average velocity for the race. Many runners do not
keep the same speed in a race, especially in a 3200m race. At the end of a race a runner will speed up

Analysis Of Nicholas Carr, Sherry Trukle And Clive Thompsom
Sixing Jiao Dr. Tsurska Oct. 14th, 2015 SDCC 4 Summary Synthesis Despite the obvious difference in
their approaches to argue, Nicholas Carr, Sherry Trukle and Clive Thompsom have a common focus:
The effect of shared information. Nicholas Carr mainly focus on sharing of objective information, the
information that is related to science and fact. In the meaning time, Sherry Turkle writes about sharing
of subjective information, the personal and emotional messages that we deliver on social media. Clive
Thompsom talks about the sharing of both kinds of information. However, their views about sharing
of information are totally different. The similarities and conflicts between their arguments can actually
help us to compare and crystallize those different points of view on sharing information. In his Is

Rapid Critical Appraisal
Was it really rapid or was it more of a laborious process? In my opinion, the rapid critical appraisal

For my reflection I will be outlining the main practical skills that I have gained from this unit whether

An Analysis Of Rick Moody s Boys
Each story makes use of a very unique tone and form of narration yet these same qualities can be
compared to some extent across these essays. The authors utilize different forms of writing to convey
their intended focus to the audience. I found each story relative to one another in that they all seemed
to touch of the subject of the roles of different genders in our contemporary society maybe even across
different cultures.
Rick Moody s short story Boys is written with a distinct style. The author uses a form of a stream of
consciousness to convey the purpose at hand, which encompasses writing as if without hesitation or
editing whatever came to Moody s thoughts, he transferred to text. There was also a substantial use of
the word boys , placing emphasis on the central meaning of the story. The style is thoroughly
descriptive and fails to leave any details of the boys lives out. This quality donates a sense of reality
and creates a bond between the reader and the characters. The tone of the story comes of as
particularly unbiased and serious, as if the author were just stating purely factual information. As
events become more somber in the boys lives, the author approaches a more sympathetic tone. The
boys were supposed to be kids, fooling around playing games and living a care free childhood, but
these boys found themselves in scenarios no boy or child should ever encompass.

Strategies of Youth Justice Policies

motivations and identify and evaluate the social and political context. The 1908 Child Act; Children
and Young Persons Act, the Criminal Justice Act; Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and Anti Social

Youth justice is a creature of historical development. The structure of the industry is full of dominant
philosophies which have seeped into the foundations, which still monopolise and govern
contemporary practice and although new perspectives have emerged over the recent history, it is
necessary to trace the evolution over the last century to understand the logic behind the practice.

More young people and pre delinquent children were being drawn into the net of juvenile justice and
Springhall (1986) remarked that the impact of the 1933 Children and Young Persons Act seemed to
direct young people to court, rather than divert, under the assumption that care and treatment would
follow (cited in Muncie, 2009).
The system legitimised by welfare is always likely to come under attack from those seeking more a
punitive and retributive response. Over the 1950s and 1960s local authority care provided attendance
centres for the neglected and detention centres established by the impact of the Criminal Justice Act
1948, retraining offenders through punitive labour brought confusion concerning the control and
treatment of juveniles.
The Children and Young Persons (Amended) Act 1952 allowing courts to remand offenders to local
authorities and those supervised following release on license from approved schools had effectively
created two strategies in which the system of control (the criminal justice system) and care (welfare
system) became intertwined.

Shakespeare allows the reader to understand the mistakes of each character by killing them off in a

Hamlet finds out that it is, in fact, Polonius he says, Thou wretched, rash, intruding fool, farewell. I
took thee for thy better. Take thy fortune. Thou find st to be too busy is some danger. (A.III.sc.iv.ln 32
34). Polonius death is the most notable act of poetic justice in the play. Shakespeare uses this character
s death to show the audience how snooping and meddling into other people s business is morally
wrong and you will be punished for it accordingly.
The character of Ophelia is driven to insanity

My Favorite Part Of Writing
Writing is not my favorite thing to do at all, I tend to get distracted but at the same time I can not
concentrate without them. Many of my of those distractions can be friends, background music, cell
phones or music. My question for everyone is can distractions or the way you sit affect the way you
write? For me I need movement around me when I am writing it helps me stay focused, I can t stand
the silence. My writing process starts with me walking to the library after lunch. I tend to look for the
biggest tables because I like to have a big space to have my papers and books. Also usually one of my
friends joins me midway. After I am seated I take out my Hp with a ñ and turn it on. While it is turning
on I usually get on my phone and look at my social media feed. Normally around me there are other
students working in groups and having conversations. Libraries were never my favorite environment
to do homework or write, this is because it is way too quiet. Just like Faris I enjoy being around
conversations and movement. The conversations and movement helps me focus as well as inspire me.
Most recently I discovered that the university has certain floors where people are allowed to talk and
be in groups. In those floors is where I am usually at. I will rent a cubical and sit there and do my
work.
Normally my friends join me and we work together at the cubicles. Just like me my friends dislike the
library for the same reasons. So we usually met up and do our work together.

Powder And Technology Quotes
In the movie Powder the main character accredits Albert Einstein as once stating, It has become
appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity ( Quotes ). Throughout E. M.
Forster s story, The Machine Stops, evidence is clearly displayed to support Einstein s claim. Most
people view progress as advancement in technology, however Forster and Einstein seem to believe the
opposite. Some may interpret Forster s story as demonstrating the lack of free will associated with
technological advancements through the decrease in critical thinking and human interaction. Although
Vashti s character can support this interpretation, I believe when free will is defined as the ability to
choose, think, and act voluntarily, ( Free Will ) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She worships the machine and all it can do to provide for her while diminishing the importance of her
son in the process. Kuno calls his mother and immediately her response is for I can give you a full five
minutes, Kuno. Then I must deliver my lecture on Music during the Australian Period (Forster 1).
Forster then goes on to describe her urgency to return to the machine, he writes, Be quick! she called,
her irritation returning. Be quick, Kuno; here I am in the dark wasting my time (Forster 1). He even
makes a point to emphasize how little time Vashti can willingly waste when writing, It was fully

Modern Media And Its Impact On Society
Most countries around the world have cities and people that exist within media saturated spheres.
Consumerism and commodification promote items to most economic classes, and through marketing
they are urged to purchase and consume the products advertised. Japan is no exception to this, but
there is a slight difference that appears to set Japan apart ever so slightly. In Japan, there is a group of
consumers, sometimes regarded as a subculture, known as the otaku. For now, just bear in mind that
the otaku are a group of consumers, often male, who purchase items associated with popular cartoons,
videogames, and comics. They purchase these items and care for them with a reverence comparable to
Western fandoms. The otaku, however, are more than fans. They engage in normal fandom behaviors,
such as consuming popular media, creating works associated with the media they are a fan of, and
supporting the creator or studio that produces the media they are fans of. In addition to these
behaviors, the otaku also live in a society that is heavily influenced by rigid societal structures and
tradition. With these elements in mind, the otaku can be examined in a myriad of ways. Historicism,
sociology, anthropology, fandom studies, and feminism are just a few of the ways in which to examine
this group. Many may wonder why studying this group may be beneficial, and the reason is that this
dissertation has found just one of many reasons to examine the otaku. The reason is that their

Schreibman Today we visited some art galleries located in fancy business buildings around 57th street
and 5th Ave, although they are mostly prestiges galleries, it was hard for me to imagine how people
visit those galleries casually to see arts. Also, I feel that the space layout of these galleries is very
limited by the structure of the building, which make the atmosphere more commercial than the other
galleries we visited before. However, no matter we are talking about Bernarducci Meisel, Mary Boone
or Edwynn Houk gallery, it is clear that these galleries are all trying to branding themselves through

Three Ways To Facilitate A Child s Development In Child...
1) In class, we have discussed many ways in which children develop language skills. Give me THREE
ways in which an adult can facilitate a child s language acquisition (acquire new and increase
language vocabulary).
There are many ways which an adult can facilitate a child s language acquisition (acquire new and
increase language vocabulary). Here is some of them:
1. Engaging in conversations with children.
Communication is the first and most accessible way to facilitate child s language acquisition and
increasing language vocabulary.
2. Reading books multiple times.
During the repeated reading, repetition and gradual memorization and mastering of the most important
components of the language functions occur.
3. Giving descriptions of objects.
Explanations of words, activities or events. Open questions. All these ways are help to acquire new
words and increase language vocabulary for the children in everyday life.
2) Select ONE age group (infants, toddlers, pre school). Give me ONE literacy activity and tell me
WHY you believe it is developmentally appropriate. I chose toddlers age (16 36 months). As one of
the best literacy activity adults can use be rhymes and songs, and encourage the child about it (during
play, circle transition times). I believe it is developmentally appropriate since children learn many
sounds and words through songs and nursery rhymes. Even if toddlers can t repeat some of the words,
they remember them, which greatly expands their

  • 2. Pitching Under Pressure Perfect Pitching Under Pressure There are two outs in the bottom of the ninth of the World Series; the team in the field is up by one and the best hitter is coming up the plate. The pitcher takes a deep breath and realizes what had to be done. Three strikes and the game was over, but that seemed an eternity away with the overwhelming pressure mounting. How could the pitcher move past the pressure and get the last out? The answer would more than likely surprise most people. It is common knowledge that the pitcher must physically be in the right positions to throw a strike, but it is quite the opposite for the mental side of pitching. The mental aspect plays a much larger factor than most people would presume and in reality, it is just as important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is surprisingly common for a pitcher who is having problems outside the sport that would affect their mental health to see a decrease in their in sport performance. In her article on PsychologyToday.com, Laura Miele says in general Negative external or internal psychological factors can lead to mental blocks, causing breaks in focus and preparation, poor performance and, at times, injuries to the athlete. The most basic example of this would be some non sport related activity or interaction that would distract the pitcher during play. As stated earlier in the essay, focus on throwing strikes is of paramount importance in order to be successful and any activity or interaction that would take that focus away would be a distraction that would affect performance. In addition, an overall feeling of depression would greatly affect a pitchers well being in and outside of the sport. As was also stated earlier, pitchers must have confidence in themselves and their ability and depression is in one faced a lowered self confidence. Depression and anxiety commonly go hand in hand and together or alone they can greatly influence sport performance. One example of a baseball player who faced depression and saw a drastic change in performance is Joey Votto, first basemen for the Cincinnati Reds. He said in an interview with Bleacher Report during the 2009 season The stuff I was dealing with off the field finally seeped its way into the game. After taking time off from the game and getting his personal life in order, he came back to win the NL MVP, the most valuable player award, the next year. It is very uncommon to think of the impact that psychological problems can have on finding success in pressure situations, but the evidence shows that the connection is clear and players and coaches should be more aware of ... The Florentine sculptor named Donatello was a marvelous sculptor to walk planet earth. • 5. The Theory Behind Absolute Advantage Over many years there has been many conceptual theories devised to help explain the reasons why there is trade within the world accompanied by the possibilities that gains could or could not be made. This piece of work will examine four main theories put forward by Adam Smith (Absolute advantage, 1776) which was then expanded on by David Ricardo with his theory of the Ricardian Model (Comparative advantage, 1817). Also including the Heckscher Ohlin model (relative factor abundance, 1919, 1933) and the ideas of New Trade Theory (Economies of Scale and Imperfect Competition). These ideas will be evaluated and synthesised to see if these explanations truly explain the reasons of trade theory. Absolute advantage was an idea suggest by Adam Smith in 1817. The theory behind absolute advantage suggests that if a country is highly skilled and efficient in producing a certain good with the fewer resources, then it is believed that a specific country has an absolute advantage in the production of that good (Sloman Garratt, 2013). However Absolute advantage can only occur if the country using its resources for a specific good/service does so efficiently otherwise no gains are made from trading. Although it can be argued that the idea of Absolute advantage does not particularly make much sense in explaining trade patterns. As said in Feenstra s and Taylors book, Absolute advantage does not particularly help to explain the case of why the US imports snowboards from places like China ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While Americans long have been split on the general question of abortion though a majority do believe it should be legal in at least some circumstances, a number of polls show that a majority of voters oppose abortion after 20 weeks (Sneed). The republicans have proposed a bill that bans abortion after twenty weeks, if a person were to have an abortion after this time period it will be considered illegal and there will be consequences. If a woman was raped and got pregnant if she does not wish to have the child according to the new law being proposed, that said woman has to report the rape to the police and then she can proceed with the abortion. As stated by the article, Abortion rights supporters counter with polling that shows voters are more supportive of abortions after 20 weeks in cases of fetal abnormalities (Sneed). In some extreme cases a few people believe that abortion should be allowed after the twenty week time period has passed, for instance in situations where it s not safe for the fetus and or the mother to continue with the pregnancy, or if the baby will have some sort of birth defects. All republican presidential candidates and those considering to join the presidential candidate race are all supporting the twenty week abortion ban. The people in the film all described how Brandon would wear clothes for men, sit with his legs open, and talk about girls and cars. Even Nissen s sister described how one time her, Brandon, and others, were in a van and Brandon had to go to the bathroom and tried to pee out of a window. All of these factors made up the people who Brandon interacted with schemas about gender. Nobody ever thought about Brandon maybe being a female because their cultural lens, a male does everything Brandon does, so he is a male. This concept also shows up later in the film when Brandon was questioned by a woman about whether he was truly a male. The deciding factor for this woman on whether Brandon was a man or not, was determined by if he had a penis. This woman s idea of a traditional man involved a penis; so if Brandon did not have one Brandon could not have been a man. However, the woman, because of her pre existing conceptions, she did not think that maybe one does not need a penis to be a male. For example, disregarding transsexuals and transgendered people, a male could have been castrated, effectively removing his penis. However, just because his penis is gone, he is usually still seen as a male. Castration of males was done throughout history whether it was Chinese or Roman Slaves (Tougher 2013), or as a dedication to one s religion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During Spring Break of 2003, my best friend, Danielle, and I took a flight to Orlando, Florida, a car to Fort Lauderdale, and a cruise through the Bahamas that had beautiful subtropical weather. For one day out of four during the cruise, we were able to chose what we wanted to do whether it was snorkeling, shopping, or taking an off land excursion to Gilligan s Island. As we followed the cement sidewalk, we came to a beach with tiny, tiny white sand granules, and not a rock in sight. We picked a spot in the sand, lathered on the oil, and baked . After about an hour of the hot, hot, sun, we took a dip in the seventy degree, clear, clean, blue water. Not a wave in sight and nothing to complain about. As we enjoyed the water that was only four feet deep all the way to the other side of the one hundred yard bay, we say many seashells beneath our feet and decided that these would make great souvenirs. We picked up a couple white, cream, and brown seashells and headed back up the sandy beach to our towels where we were going to flip and take in some more glorious sunshine. But for me the one theme that stuck out the most was of Christ and his sacrifice for us. Just like Christ sacrificed his life for us The Iron Giant sacrificed himself for the people of Rockwell. In this paper we are going to look at how The Iron Giant and the journey Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us are similar, we will also look at how we are supposed to live life like a child. In order for us to look at this movie theologically we have to know what happened. In this movie a 50 foot tall robot crash lands on earth. He is later found by Hogarth Hough and they become friends and they do a lot of stuff together. Eventually the army gets called and they try and destroy this monster but this just made the giant mad and he began defending himself. At the end of the movie and bomb is launched at the giant that will kill everyone. The Iron Giant decides to sacrifice himself for his friend and the people of Rockwell. • 12. Speech On Polar Bear Land without ice is a very difficult environment for polar bears. This was proven by Canadian photographer Paul Nicklen and Sea Legacy filmmakers when they arrived on Baffin Island in late summer. They came face to face with a shocking sight a polar bear, starved and slowly dying. We stood there crying filming with tears rolling down our cheeks, said Nicklen. In the video, the polar bear was limping and hanging by a thread of life. The animal had a thin and bony frame, covered with white fur, while its back legs were likely suffering from muscle atrophy due to wasting. It rummaged a nearby trashcan used by Inuit fishers seasonally, however, nothing was edible. The polar bear dejectedly collapsed on the ground, deprived of food. Nicklen thought of helping the bear but without a tranquilizer gun or 400 pounds of seal meat, he could do nothing. Also, feeding polar bears in Canada is illegal. Nicklen also considered not to prolong the agony of the poor animal, instead, he recorded the bear s slow death from starvation. When scientists say bears are going extinct, I want people to realize what it looks like. Bears are going to starve to death. This is what a starving bear looks like, Nicklen stressed out. The heartbreaking sight of the starving and dying polar beat was a sign on how deadly climate change to mankind and animals. • 13. Difference Between Formal And Less Formal Writing Morphology Analysis: Formal vs Less Formal Writing Word choice in writing is influenced by the context, just as is the case between formal speeches and informal ones. The kind of words in formal and less formal writing gravitates between academic and formal, depending on the context and the message being put across. The morphemes used in both formal (academic) and less formal (as is the case in newspapers), vary. Formal writing uses different word forms and morphemes, due to the strict nature of this kind of written communication. Less formal writing moves between using a lot of morphemes and still maintaining a certain level of formality, so as to communicate effectively. In some instances, less formal writing may even use colloquial language and a lot of morphemes. In this discussion, the focus is on an academic form of writing and a less formal kind of writing, picked from a newspaper. The discussion shall analyze how morphemes have been used in the two kinds of writing and why this is the case. The first writing is a Classroom Research, which is just an introduction of the research and sets the tone for the rest of the paper. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stark explains that where women are already subordinate, wife beating is supported by the patriarchy and is a function of specific factors. Under the law women were not equal citizens to men, so women that were abused by their husbands or family members attributed it to bad luck. Industrialization widened the work home divide. That is, work done in the home (women s work) and wage labour (men s work) was separated by sex, and the latter was considered real work. In tandem with political and legal gains, throughout the twentieth century the rate of women participating in the work forced increased. As capitalism became the major form of social organization, and women were liberated and emancipated from men and the private sphere, violence was no longer sufficient to enforce dependence on individual men. Stark explains that this was because the material and political basis for patriarchy was displaced, and the illogical privilege based solely on sex was exposed. Sexual hierarchies began to collapse, and men began using a range of behaviours to compliment their use of force. Although it was not specifically written about before the 1970s, this became known as coercive control. Each household governed by coercive control, each relationship, becomes patriarchy in miniature (p. 194). Stark concludes this section by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He endorses that to digital natives it feels like they are being taught by foreigners who have no wrap their head around English language yet. However, this is a dilemma that only starts, rather than ends, at the lack of communication. By introducing another example, he disputes that there is also a quarrel in the way of thinking in general. Digital natives, for example, believe that studying should be fun and could easily be done, while, for example, watching TV. This Digital Immigrants, however, deny up to this day; simply because they were not capable of doing all those things, while they were young. Many scholars believe that detective fiction is below average in quality and does not offer much more beyond entertainment. Time and time again detective fiction has been belittled for its quality of literature, being place below other genres. Some scholars have come to the defense of detective fiction. Scholar R. Austin Freeman stated, The status of the whole class has been fixed by an estimate formed from inferior samples (Freeman) and this is true. Detective fiction has been plagued with average works, however, it does offer more than just a story about crime. Detective fiction can be used as a medium to comment on social issues. Early in the 20th century, the United States was still battling an epidemic of racism and violence towards african americans. Continual incidents of lynchings, beatings, and verbal abuse barraged the african american community. During this time period, detective fiction was used to comment on this racial inequality by pushing for equality through underlying themes in stories. Detective fiction offered works that were extremely progressive in regards to their comments on racial inequality. Talma Gordon written in 1900 by Pauline Hopkins is a testament to that. Many people ask how could a women even be considered an equal? With the lesser pay and respect we are given, it is not very surprising this question is being asked. Yet we are also growing up in the age of Oprah Winfrey, Hilary Clinton, Malala Yousafzai who all represent the strong and empowering qualities women hold. They fought to have a say, and now hold the respect of thousands. So the real question one must ask is not regarding how women can be considered equal, it is regarding as to why we are considered as lesser after having accomplished just as much as men, if not more? The gender gap places woman on a lower pedestal. We are continually receiving less pay, despite possessing similar knowledge and capabilities as men. An article from the World Economic Forum stated that the pay gap is widening and having the opposite effect than planned despite [the] numerous initiatives to break glass ceilings and force salary disclosure. This pressing issue is in dire need of a resolution. The gender gap not only threatens women s individual rights, it violates the equal protection clause under the fourteenth amendment which promises to protect women from sex discrimination. Women have been defeating the odds of athleticism and masculinity that men realized, but wanted to hide and not appreciate their work. Through time men and women have made an effort to come together to bring attention to the downgrading of women in sports to earn acknowledgement and respect. With this, history has described men and women s sports as not equal but as history continues, women defeat the odds yet again. Women participating in athletic activities and sports date back millennia. Stories of women playing ball dates back to 800 BC in Homer s works of The Iliad. Until the 1870 s, women never had the luxury of sports classified for women specifically. Multitasking was a high concern. People thought that each person had a set amount of energy and multitasking would deplete this energy rapidly that could cause harm to that individual. Women were highly encouraged to limit their activity so they would not fatigue their selves so quickly to avoid harm to their body. Doctors of this time believed this over exertion could damage reproductive organs, decrease fertility rate, excessive stimulate emotions to the extent of a nervous breakdown, and even bizarre as decrease in a woman s sexual inhibition if she excessively indulged in sports (Cahn par. 4). Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE Have you ever known a person who smokes and has a hard time doing every day activities, due to difficulty of breath, or constantly coughing. Progressive means that is gradually gets worse over time. It is a combination of chronic bronchitis and emphysema (Causes,2014). Chronic bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchioles, which causes mucus build up (Davis,2016). Emphysema is when the air sacs get enlarged (Smoking, 2016). Since the disease does not have a cure yet it is important to know pathology (path of disease), epidemiology (who is effected in a population), ethology (who is effected genetically), manifestation (symptoms), treatment, and outcome. First step preventing COPD is to know how it affects the body and the path taken; this is called the pathology. In normal, healthy breathing a person breathes in air that is moves through the bronchial tubes to the bronchioles. At the end of the bronchioles there are air sacs called alveoli. The alveoli are elastic air sacs that control the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide to the body (Smoking, 2016). The alveoli consist of elastic tissue so when a person breaths in the the alveoli can expand and when the carbon dioxide is released it can deflate and return to it s normal size. ... • 30. Physics Of Running Research Paper The Physics of Running Running uses many different laws of physics. Some specific laws or principles are Law of Pendulum; Newton s First, Second, and Third Laws; velocity; acceleration; and friction. In our project, we will focus specifically on Newton s three laws, the Law of Pendulum, and velocity. Running is defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as to go faster than a walk; specifically : to go steadily by springing steps so that both feet leave the ground for an instant in each step. This project will explain how the aforementioned laws pertain to the physics of running. Those involved in running sports, for example track and long distance runners, could benefit greatly from the study of physics in running. They could apply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Velocity is the rate of change of an object s position and is a function of time. You can find the speed that someone goes by knowing how far they went and how long it took them to get there. The equation used to find velocity is v=d/t; v is velocity, d is distance traveled, and t is time. Someone who runs the 3200m in 12 minutes runs at an average speed of 266.67 m/min. For a runner who wants to improve their time in a race, they need to cover more distance per minute. To achieve running an 11 minute 30 second 3200m a person would run at an average pace of 278.26m/min. This is found by using the same equation v=d/t. This is used to find average velocity for the race. Many runners do not keep the same speed in a race, especially in a 3200m race. At the end of a race a runner will speed up to as fast as they ... Analysis Of Nicholas Carr, Sherry Trukle And Clive Thompsom Sixing Jiao Dr. Tsurska Oct. 14th, 2015 SDCC 4 Summary Synthesis Despite the obvious difference in their approaches to argue, Nicholas Carr, Sherry Trukle and Clive Thompsom have a common focus: The effect of shared information. Nicholas Carr mainly focus on sharing of objective information, the information that is related to science and fact. In the meaning time, Sherry Turkle writes about sharing of subjective information, the personal and emotional messages that we deliver on social media. Clive Thompsom talks about the sharing of both kinds of information. However, their views about sharing of information are totally different. The similarities and conflicts between their arguments can actually help us to compare and crystallize those different points of view on sharing information. In his Is Google Making Us Stupid?, Nicholas Carr contends that the overload of information is chipping away his capacity for concentration and contemplation (315). He admits with easy accessibility of information online, the process of research has became much simpler(Carr 315). Yet such benefit comes with a cost. Our brains are rewired as the cost of such convenience(Carr 316). As the result, we may well be reading more today than we did in the 1970s or 1980s...but it s a different kind of reading, and behind it lies a different kind of thinking (Carr 317). It was a process requiring considerable effort and time. Though tedious, the RCA process helped me to stay focused, analyze in depth information about the studies, and select most relevant articles that would be beneficial in answering the PICOT question and appropriate for my evidence based practice(EBP) proposal. According to Melnyk Fineout Overholt (2015), RCA is one of the key components to the evidence based practice process. It helps to evaluate the validity, reliability, and applicability of a research article. Did reading the abstract help you make quick decisions about including or excluding the study? Reading the abstract was absolutely a helpful strategy in sifting through the articles. It helped me to make quick decisions about including or excluding the study. Week in, week out I find myself stumped by questions I don t have the answers to. However more than ever before I am trying to come up with decisive answers regarding what my opinion is on certain ethical issues, rather than just analysing the merits and demerits of other people s viewpoints. II STRUCTURE OF REFLECTION For my reflection I will be outlining the main practical skills that I have gained from this unit whether it be from the weekly readings, tutorial exercises and/or online modules and material. The practical skills gained consist of intellectual, performative and affective skills all of which are essential for practicing lawyers, however for the purpose of this reflection primary focus will be placed upon intellectual and affective skills. The authors utilize different forms of writing to convey their intended focus to the audience. I found each story relative to one another in that they all seemed to touch of the subject of the roles of different genders in our contemporary society maybe even across different cultures. Rick Moody s short story Boys is written with a distinct style. The author uses a form of a stream of consciousness to convey the purpose at hand, which encompasses writing as if without hesitation or editing whatever came to Moody s thoughts, he transferred to text. There was also a substantial use of the word boys , placing emphasis on the central meaning of the story. The style is thoroughly descriptive and fails to leave any details of the boys lives out. This quality donates a sense of reality and creates a bond between the reader and the characters. The tone of the story comes of as particularly unbiased and serious, as if the author were just stating purely factual information. As events become more somber in the boys lives, the author approaches a more sympathetic tone. The boys were supposed to be kids, fooling around playing games and living a care free childhood, but these boys found themselves in scenarios no boy or child should ever encompass. I tend to look for the biggest tables because I like to have a big space to have my papers and books. Also usually one of my friends joins me midway. After I am seated I take out my Hp with a ñ and turn it on. While it is turning on I usually get on my phone and look at my social media feed. Just like Faris I enjoy being around conversations and movement. The conversations and movement helps me focus as well as inspire me. Most recently I discovered that the university has certain floors where people are allowed to talk and be in groups. In those floors is where I am usually at. Consumerism and commodification promote items to most economic classes, and through marketing they are urged to purchase and consume the products advertised. Japan is no exception to this, but there is a slight difference that appears to set Japan apart ever so slightly. In Japan, there is a group of consumers, sometimes regarded as a subculture, known as the otaku. For now, just bear in mind that the otaku are a group of consumers, often male, who purchase items associated with popular cartoons, videogames, and comics. They purchase these items and care for them with a reverence comparable to Western fandoms. The otaku, however, are more than fans. They engage in normal fandom behaviors, such as consuming popular media, creating works associated with the media they are a fan of, and supporting the creator or studio that produces the media they are fans of. In addition to these behaviors, the otaku also live in a society that is heavily influenced by rigid societal structures and tradition. With these elements in mind, the otaku can be examined in a myriad of ways.
