River Padma Personal Statement Of Purpose
River Padma, the biggest and most turbulent river of Bangladesh, is around twenty kilometers from
my village where I grew up listening about the accidents of Steamer sinking (one kind of vessel that
made locally and used to cross the river) from my childhood. In later years I also had some real acute
experience of Steamer accidents. Every year around thousands of people lost their lives because of
these accidents which take place for several times in each year. Crossing river Padma is must for the
people of South Bangladesh as it is the only way to reach to the capital city, Dhaka. In my childhood I
just always asked myself why this type of accident happens. We live in the ages of modern technology
and people have already explored the universe. So isn t it possible to make safe water vessels for
carrying people? This question revolved in my mind and it was the core point why I chose Naval
Architecture and Marine Engineering as my expected subject in university level.
In my academic life when I was getting familiar with shipbuilding, ship design I really found these
very interesting. In third year of my undergraduate life I was taught some subjects ... Show more

Though I have interest and inclination in the subject, my lack of profound knowledge seems to be
detrimental in contributing significantly to the field of structural engineering.
My undergraduate program has given me a wide and comprehensive exposure to numerous courses
that I found interesting namely, Mechanics of Structure; Ship Structure; Motion and Control; Heat
Transfer; Theory of Machines; Shipbuilding Materials; Optimization etc. I strongly believe in learning
practically by doing; it is the hope of coming up with path breaking results through experimentation

Discuss the view that urbanisation in both the developed...
Discuss the view that urbanisation in both the developed and the developing world is unsustainable
(40marks)
Urbanisation is the process in which people move from a rural area to an urban area. Levels of
urbanisation are determined by looking at both the population of rural and urban areas. For the first
time ever in history more people live in urban areas than in rural areas. This movement shows no sign
of stopping with a predicted 1.84% increase in people living in urban areas expected between 2015
and 2020. And this disparity in rural urban growth can be a really damaging element if the urban areas
of a country aren t prepared for the influx of people.
This imbalance can certainly lead to unsustainability; not just in the developing ... Show more content

This meant that slum housing and cheap terraced housing was built and factories were situated near
the houses in various inner city areas. This can be seen in British cities such as Manchester, Leeds and
Newcastle.
On the other hand, developing nations face more problems in coping with the surge in urban
population. They can be unprepared for the sheer amount of inward migrants or lack funds to properly
support and educate the new residents. Their urbanisation has happened in more recent years; and
some may argue that it has occurred a lot faster than it did with their developed counterparts. This
speed is most likely due to the technological age that we live in and the ease of travel that exists in
many developing nations. Unlike the urbanisation that happened in Europe circa 1800, the migrants
that are flocking to urban areas don t need many particular skills and the work is low paid both in and
out of cities. The city offers a better prospects to migrants than the fields do, and that is the prime
reason why anyone would move.
There are inevitable problems that arise with a densely populated urban area. One of these is the issue
of waste management. Countries cope with this issue in various ways, some of the solutions are not
available to developing countries to the high cost of them.
In a developed country such as the United Kingdom, there are laws in place that encourage and
inforce an eco friendly attitude towards waste disposal. Sending millions of tonnes of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Critical Legal Studies
Analyse the strength of the Critical Legal Studies movements critiques of indeterminacy and
contradiction.
Critical Legal Studies: Critiques of Indeterminacy and Contradiction in Law
Critical legal studies comes under the umbrella term of critical legal theory along with such groups as
feminists and Marxist theorists. An influence can be seen from American Legal Realism in some areas
of critical legal studies. The scholars who work under this term have no general approach or theory but
instead consider a variety of critiques including those of indeterminacy and contradiction. They tend
to see the law as consisting of many contradictions which they believes supports a status quo of some
people being left disadvantaged by the law whilst others gain a disadvantage. They believe due to this
inequality that there needs to be a social change to improve the system. Indeterminacy appears to be
able to be split up into several smaller critical categories and it is this critique which shall be dealt
with first.
1. Indeterminacy
In similarity to American Legal Realists, Critical Legal Studies scholars believe that the rules that are
contained within statutes and common law are unable to establish an outcome in new cases that come
before the court . This is partly due to the criticism of indeterminacy they have based on the idea
known as legal reasoning.
Legal reasoning, according to Critical Legal Studies, is in fact nothing more than a manipulation of
abstract categories with no

Investing in real estate is as advantageous and as attractive as investing in the stock market. I would
say it has three times more prospects of making money than any other business. But, But, But... since,
it is equally guided by the market forces; you cannot undermine the constant risks involved in the real
estate. Let me begin discussing with you the advantages of real estate investments. I found the
advantages as most suited and really practical.
Advantages
Real Estate Investments are Less Risky
As compared to other investments, less of misadventure is involved in a real estate property. I will not
get away from the fact that just like any investment you make; you have the risk of losing it. Real
estate investments are traditionally considered a stable and rich gainer, provided if one takes it
seriously and with full sagacity. The reasons for the real estate investments becoming less risky
adventure primarily relate to various socio economic factors, location, market behavior, the population
density of an area;

Summary Of Carter Father Of Black History Month
Carter G. Woodson formally known as the Father of Black History Month was an extraordinarily wise
man who dedicated his life time to African American History. His most famous pieces of writings was
his book The Mis Education of the Negro in which many topics are discussed for example education,
business, politics, religion, self hatred, and black on black prejudice, which I exceptionally believe is a
very negative dilemma in the present day society. An abundant amount of what Woodson wrote about
in nineteen thirtythree about blacks minds being controlled through the white people in economics,
history, literature, philosophy and religion I strongly agree is still, to an extent the problem today. Is

This like then is still negatively affecting the black children being taught these biased history because
it is teaching them that we was nothing but slaves who picked cotton on plantations. If they are lucky
the book may mention a sentence or two about Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman, but for the
most part that is all black people contributed to history. Which installs at an early age in black children
that we are not as smart, skilled, and important as the white man. Education was not the only aspect
Woodson discussed in his book that is still prevalent today. Correspondingly, politics also is an aspect
Woodson discussed in The Mis Education of the Negro that is prevalent in present day society.
Woodson quotes, ANOTHER factor the Negro needs is a new figure in politics, one who will not
concern himself so much with what others can do for him as with what he can do for himself
(Woodson chap. 17 par. 1). In Woodson s book when he talks about politics like the quote above he
says how black people need to make a way for themselves and respect themselves instead of being so
dependent on the white man s government that has been against black people from the beginning.
What Woodson spoke about is still prevalent in the society today but to an extent. It is prevalent

What Were The Major Changes In The 1920 s
The SEEALL Academy Mehrangiz Ismatullaeva
Class 803 May 1, 2015
The 1920s was a time in American history where there was explicit changes. The Roaring Twenties
had a massive impact on the American economy. It was a time in history where America started to
evolve as a country and become more dominant. Many states and cities in the United States sustained
economic prosperity. There was also an abundance of inventions and new music that spread quickly
throughout the country and became popular among a multitude of people. New fashion trends also
started to pop out and become popular. All these new major changes in the 20s developed the new and
advanced United States that people are living in today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Probably the most common word remembered from the Twenties is a flapper. A flapper was a woman
with a short bob that drank, smoked, and wore short skirts. People also referred them to using
unladylike terms. Although many women were not as rebellious as a flapper, they had flapper
wardrobes that was quite popular among women at that time. The 1920s was also a time where
women gained political freedom. The Nineteenth Amendment was passed which allowed women to
vote. In the past, women had fought very hard for them to gain political freedom and the Twenties was
the time that they had finally accomplished their goals. Many women also had white collar jobs which
meant that they were performing professional work. This led to the creation of birth control, which
allowed women to have fewer children or prevent them from having children if they did not want to.
Also, to make the cleaning easier for women, the washing machine and the vacuum were

Aristotle s Mandate For Tragedy In The Play Seduced By Sam...
Seduced by Sam Shepard is a quite confusing play with a plethora of secrets, tales, and lies set in a
remote location in Mexico. During the production we see that the characters unravel as more
characters join the initial two cast members. They begin to reveal the details of their past lives, unseen
current events, and future events unknown to all.
The playwright, Sam Shepard, wrote as an insight to how secrets, allusions, and delusions can create
chaos. The delusion of stability and comfort is broken down in the play until it no longer exists, then it
is replaced with a false sense of fulfillment. I believe this play does follows Aristotle s mandate for
tragedy. Here we have Henry Hackamore, a man who once had everything in life, in a child state of
mind going insane. Henry has fallen so far from who he use to be, but he tries to reclaim himself with
the presence of Luna and Miami. It doesn t work though. He comes to a tragic end of complete

From the beginning, you can see that Henry will only let Raul touch him, but it is very awkward how
they interact with each other. Maybe Henry has depicted Raul as a women in his head now or maybe it
is just an awkward friendship. Also, Henry seems to have a problem with woman. Luna clearly shows
interests in him, but he shows mutual feelings towards her then takes it back. Seduced had an
awkward beginning with a little bit of annoyance that was very easy to follow. By the end of the play
it was filled with chaos and confusing that ended with an abrupt stop that brought us back to being
awkward with a little annoyance. The set of the play added to the confusion of the play. It almost felt
like the setting was a war zone, with the war being what was going on in Henry s head. It also felt as
though I was viewing someone s real life by the type of stage, which is thrust

Benefits Of Running Convection Allowing Models ( Cams )...
1. Introduction
The benefits of running convection allowing models (CAMs) for convective storm prediction have
been demonstrated in a variety of contexts over the past decade (e.g., Done et al. 2004; Kain et al.
2006; Lean et al. 2008; Kain et al. 2008; Clark et al. 2009; Coniglio et al. 2010; Schwartz et al. 2009;
Sobash et al. 2011; Clark et al. 2010, Clark et al. 2011; Weisman et al. 2013). As these studies show,
much of the value of running CAM forecasts comes from their ability to provide explicit information
about convective properties such as initiation, mode, motion, longevity, and intensity. To effectively
use CAM output in operational forecasting settings, novel forms of guidance are needed to summarize
these forecast attributes in ways that can be easily understood by forecasters and other end users.
Toward this end, Sobash et al. (2011), hereafter S11, documented a proof of concept for producing a
next day (12 UTC to 12 UTC) severe convective weather guidance product using output from
deterministic CAM forecasts initialized at 00 UTC. In S11, locations where intense simulated
convective storms occurred were identified using updraft helicity (UH; Kain et al. 2008), a diagnostic
designed to detect mid level mesocyclones in CAM output. A threshold was applied to the UH field to
identify severe simulated convection and produce a field of surrogate severe weather reports, which
were then spatially smoothed to create a surrogate severe probabilistic forecast

It is easy to confuse the concepts of quot;virtual reality quot; and a quot;computerized model of reality

and quot;logic quot;. It can bear resemblance to the real world or not. It can be consistent or not. It can

A group of human miscreants succeeds to learn the secret of the Matrix. They form an underground
and live aboard a ship, loosely communicating with a halcyon city called quot;Zion quot;, the last
bastion of resistance. In one of the scenes, Cypher, one of the rebels defects. Over a glass of (illusory)
rubicund wine and (spectral) juicy steak, he poses the main dilemma of the movie. Is it better to live
happily in a perfectly detailed delusion or to survive unhappily but free of its hold?
The Matrix controls the minds of all the humans in the world. It is a bridge between them, they inter
connected through it. It makes them share the same sights, smells and textures. They remember. They
compete. They make decisions. The Matrix is sufficiently complex to allow for this apparent lack of
determinism and ubiquity of free will. The root question is: is there any difference between making
decisions and feeling certain of making them (not having made them)? If one is unaware of the
existence of the Matrix, the answer is no. From the inside, as a part of the Matrix, making decisions
and appearing to be making them are identical states. Only an outside observer one who in possession
of full information regarding both the Matrix and the humans can tell the difference.
Moreover, if the Matrix were a computer program of infinite complexity, no observer (finite or
infinite) would have been able to say with any certainty whose

Wetland Research Paper
When most people think of wetlands the first thing that will pop into their mind will be visions of
swamps and flooded plains. These marshy lands would seem to have no purpose, while in reality they
are the most precious form of ecosystem that we have in America. Wetlands contribute to biodiversity,
clean water, flood control, and provide a habitat for millions of species of plants and animals. Even
with all this wetlands still face mass destruction, much like the rain forests they are just as productive
and face similar rates of devastation (Mitchell, J. (1992, October). Our Disappearing Wetlands

However, appearances may be deceiving. The unique environment of vernal pools provides habitat for
numerous rare plants and animals that are able to survive these harsh conditions. Many of these plants
and animals spend the dry season as seeds, eggs, or cysts, and then grow and reproduce when the
ponds are flooded again. In addition, birds such as egrets, ducks, and hawks use vernal pools as a
seasonal source of food and water (Marshall, 1978).
br
br Prairie potholes are a very beneficial wetland that is home to dozens of migratory waterfowl. They
are found primarily in the Upper Midwest, especially North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and
Minnesota. This formerly glaciated landscape is covered with a vast number of potholes, which fill
with snowmelt and rain in the spring. Some prairie pothole marshes are temporary, while others may
be virtually permanent. Here, as in other marshes, submerged and floating aquatic plants take over the
deeper water; while bulrushes and cattails grow closer to shore, and wet marshes lie next to the
upland. These wetlands are a sort of cousin to vernal pools, sharing the same location, and seasonal

Narrative Of Nantucket Literary Analysis
The theme of confinement was used throughout Poe s book The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of
Nantucket . Confinement was not just used in a literal sense but, also in a figurative sense. The
definition of confinement is the state of being confined . Pym was not the only character that Poe
decided to apply the theme to; it was applied to other characters for example the natives. The book
starts out with Pym talking about his family and, how his family are respectable people. After talking

Theme Of Foreshadowing In A Rose For Emily
A Rose for Emily is a story written by William faulkner which depicts the life of a rather odd woman.
At the beginning of the story, the reader learns that Miss. Emily is dead, but is unaware of the dark
side of her life. The author portrays events in Miss. Emily s life which lead up to the discovery of her
personal life. These events were manipulated over time in order to build suspense within the reader.
Throughout the passage, Falkner manipulates time in order to create tension and suspense. In A Rose
for Emily , William Faulkner uses foreshadowing in order to create tension and suspense throughout
the story. Faulkner immediately hints at what will happen to Homer Barron when he tells the reader
that he never comes back out of the house. For example, Faulkner states, And that was the last we saw
of Homer Barron. And of Miss Emily for some time. The Negro man went in and out with the market
basket, but the front door remained closed. (Faulkner 7).The author foreshadows that something bad
will be revealed to the reader. The reader is tense because they do not know what happened to Homer.
Miss Emily never opening the door leaves the reader with a suspenseful feeling that cannot be
resolved until the story s conclusion. Later in the story, Faulkner removes the reader s perplexity when
he reveals the reason Homer Barron went missing. The people searched the sealed up room and find
that the man himself lay in the bed (Faulkner 9.) Faulkner reveals the mystery behind the

where our views become different from theirs. This is something that is hard to deal with. We want our
parents to accept us for who we are but, that may not always be the case. A gender battle brews in this
story and as the story builds it becomes stronger and stronger. To be a girl is something that is almost
looked down upon. Making it hard for this young girl to come to terms with the fact that she is a girl
and that is okay. The pressure from her mother to be in the kitchen with her haunts this young girl. She
sees this as a negative because she doesn t feel close with her mother or trust her. Her mother wants
her to help her in the kitchen and for her brother to take over the work she does in the barn. The main

Voltaire s Views Toward English And French Religion,...
Voltaire s Views Toward English French Religion, Government, and Scientific Advancements
After 1688, England became a constitutional monarchy under the rule of Mary and William. English
society evolved from embracing the absolute monarchy to one that introduces new thought processes
and beliefs. In Voltaire s Letters on England, he contributes the development of England to its
respectable regards toward religion, governmental systems, and scientific advancements. He contrasts
these practices with those of the less respectable Frenchmen, and reveals the different outcomes of the
two nations. Following the Reformation, there was a great division within the Church between the
Catholics and Protestants. This tension was eased during the reign of Queen Elizabeth with the
passing of the Act of Supremacy in 1559, which created the Church of England and consequently the
Anglican Church. Eventually Anglicanism became known as the New Catholicism . While the pope
was no longer recognized, bishops, and many aspects of medieval heritage was retained under the
Anglican Church. It was highly supported by many elites due to its powerful expression of culture. In
Voltaire s letters, he acknowledges that even though everyone is allowed to practice their own religion,
the true religion that in which a man makes his fortune is the Church of England. It was very difficult
for people to obtain jobs in England and Ireland unless they were proclaimed followers. This

Next, addiction is a medical issue including brain disease. First off, we need to understand that not all
addicts are bad people. Specifically, Stephanie O Neill USA today journalist, shares that some of these
addicts have just hit rock bottom in their lives. So therefore drugs is what they turn to (O Neill). Thus,
this point proves that not every person who uses is a bad person its just the drugs that makes them
make bad decisions. Secondly, we need safe injection sites that would go beyond existing needle
exchanges by allowing drug use on the premises. In fact, O Neill reports that California is voting on a
bill that would provide injection sites with health care providers that will treat opioid overdose s.
Therefore, this confirms that supervised sites offer care for addicts. In addition, research shows
supervised injection facilities in other countries have reduced overdose s. To illustrate, O Neill tells us
that other studies show that there has been a drop of 35% in deaths since the injection sites have
opened. Consequently, this information shows that by providing medical help to addicts with brain
disease deaths decrease. For all these reasons, this shows us addiction is more than just a choice it s a
disease. On the other hand, viewpoint two contends that supervised injection sites enable addiction. To
begin, injection sites enable addiction. In other words, it still is not any more safe besides the fact that

Fast Casual Pizza Research Paper
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, one in eight Americans consume pizza on
any give day, accounting for 13 percent of the country s population over the age of two. This report
goes on to state that adults each more pizza at dinner and children eat more pizza at lunch. Individuals
looking into various franchise concepts may wish to open a fast casual pizza franchise to take
advantage of the popularity of this food. 1000 Degrees offers a franchise opportunity for those who
like the idea of owning a pizzeria and opening a franchise with this company isn t difficult.
What Makes 1000 Degrees Different?
When comparing franchise chains, potential owners need to consider what makes the franchise stand
out in the crowd. A unique product sells better than one that looks, feels or tastes like every other, yet
this isn t the case when a person chooses this franchise. The fast casual pizza is made with authentic
Neapolitan dough, San Marzano and Cherry tomato based sauces, and a hand made proprietary oven.

to learn more about how the franchise operates. If the applicant still feels this is the right opportunity,
which most do, a Franchise Agreement is then signed and the process of opening a new location

Why Is Individual Liberty Important
I believe in individual liberty it is extremely importance to any society. One thing that is important to
an individual liberty is freedom, which I value the most today. Freedom give people the opportunity to
speak, the right to their own opinion and pursue happiness. Freedom is very important to every human
being because it gives you a chance to express yourself and give you an overall quality of life.
However, there is certain limitations when it comes to freedom that we all must live with and that is
the laws that we all must obey.
People have the right to freedom of speech however, every person is responsible for their own action,
life, and well being, everyone should be judge individually regardless of race, gender, and or religion.

Understanding Migraine Headaches
A migraine is a common, chronic, and debilitating neurovascular disorder. It is characterized by
attacks of serve headache along with autonomic nervous system dysfunction and some patients an
aura neurological symptom (Goadsby, Lipton, Ferrari, 2002). There are two types of migraines
classical migraine and common migraine. Classical migraine is one that either preceded or
accompanied by focal neurological symptoms which are generally visual, this occurs in 15% of
patients and is referred to migraine with aura (Goadsby, Lipton, Ferrari, 2002). Common Migraine is
one that has episodes of head pain that are severe and throbbing and can last 4 to 72 hours. These are
migraines without aura and are usually associated with nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light, sound
or movement (Sorge et al., 1988). When diagnosed with frequent migraine attacks, doctors try to
understand what the cause of a subject s migraines are which can be due to many variables such as
stress, sleep deprivation or menstruation.
Migraine attacks start at any age but they peak in the early to mid adolescence age. Migraines rates
were observed for a year and the results showed the prevalence of migraines being 11% overall, 6%
among men and 15 18% in women(Stewart WF, Lipton RB, Celentano DD, Reed ML, 1992).

menstrual cycle occurs, it changes. After onset migraine attacks are two to three times higher in

The Importance Of Animal Uses In Animals
Humans have used animals for food, transport, companionship and experimental research to develop
medicine and investigate the structure and function of the body. This dates back to 130 AD, where the
commonly used animals were pigs, monkeys, and dogs (Vaumans, 2005). Dogs are the species most
frequently used in the animal models and are referred to as default non rodent (Smith et al., 2002).
Especially, in toxicology studies, dogs are the preferred choice due to their similarities of human
toxicity (Smith et al., 2002). Today, 75 100 million vertebrates are used per year worldwide for
research, teaching, and testing (Vaumans, 2005). In many countries it is mandatory to grade the level
of discomfort and pain for the laboratory animal. Animals suffering from discomfort and/or stress can
have a change in their endocrinology and immunology results (Vaumans, 2005). By testing oxytocin
concentrations in dogs can help facilitate the transition into new social settings and into new
laboratory settings (Stallings, 2015). In addition, oxytocin plays a role in non social observations such
as learning, anxiety, feeding, and pain (Stallings, 2015). All laboratory animals fall under the Animal
Welfare Act, which promotes animal welfare of research and laboratory animals and promotes anti
cruelty laws. Currently, according to American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, (AALAS)

How Does Chaucer Describe The Wife Of Bath
The medieval period is the period in history beginning with the Renaissance, literally meaning the
middle period in history. Clothing, tradition, religion and lifestyle were viewed much differently than
they are in today s modern society. The best example of all the different types of people and their
lifestyles is Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, in which he opens with a description of twenty nine people
going on a pilgrimage. The way people behave today allows readers to recognize each character s
distinct personality. In the General Prologue , Chaucer describes the Wife of Bath in a way that is

presenting herself in front of other people. Chaucer describes her physical appearance in ways that
express a lustful and almost seductive person during this time period. The description of her clothing,
legs, feet, hips, and her gap tooth is an accurate representation of what seemed to attract a man to a

Subject: What should US policy towards military assistance to Taiwan be?
Historical Background: Taiwan, otherwise known as the Republic of China (ROC), has a complicated
political status on the world stage. The People s Republic of China (PRC) lays territorial claims to
Taiwan and most countries recognize China as the mainland as Taiwan as an autonomous region
within it. However, Taiwan sees itself independent as the true government of China, but only a couple
dozen countries recognize it as sovereign government and by technical definition of what constitutes
as a sovereign state under the Montevideo Convention of 1933, Taiwan fits the criteria.1 Though

Both economic and security threats are culminated in a general consensus that weapons trade between
both countries includes only defensive weapons.5 In 1994, the policy towards Taiwan was reviewed,
however no changes were made to the arms sales policy.6 The military assistance the US provides
Taiwan with, despite being defensive in nature, is still a source of consternation to the PRC and is a
problem for its relations with both Taiwan and the US.
Significance:
Military assistance to Taiwan is essential for Taiwan s sense of security, but it is also a source of
friction with US relations with the PRC. Selling Taiwan an amount of weapons that the PRC considers
excessive may lead to increased tensions between both the US and the PRC. Under the TRA, the US
still has a degree of obligation in ensuring Taiwanese security. It deems that if US assistance is
necessary to maintain peace in the Western Pacific and if Taiwan is forced to make a decision
regarding its statehood under non peaceful means the US will intervene in Taiwan s affairs. Currently,
this is limited to selling defensive weapons, but not providing further military assistance or performing
joint drills like those performed in South Korea.
Positive trilateral relations are essential for US economic interests. By maintaining positive

Human Resource Frames

Despite higher education institutions being a place of learning and reflection. The political and
symbolic frames captures most school s typical organizational life, which is steeped in structured
policies, roles and hierarchy; tradition, ceremonies and rituals (Bolman Deal, 2013). Due to these
complexities COCE deans do not prescribe to human resource frame relationships (Bolman Deal,

The Social Origins Of Marxism
DOES EXPLORING THE SOCIAL ORIGINS OF MARXISM ASSIST IN UNDERSTANDING ITS
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
Marx is credited as being one of the founding fathers of sociology and the social sciences (along with
Durkheim and Weber). Marx lived through the majority of the 19th century (1818 1883), when the
Industrial Revolution and capitalism were at their peak, and his work was a critical analysis of this
relatively new form of society. The aim of this essay is to explore the social origins of Marx s theories
with a look to assess how useful these social origins are when it comes to understanding the strengths
and weaknesses of his theories. I will first briefly describe some of Marx s most well known theories
of Human Nature, the Proletariat and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The products of human work are the objectification of an individual s human nature; the individual is
in what he makes and through this objectification we ultimately come to understand ourselves (ibid:
92). Furthermore, the application of the human mind s unlimited conceptual abilities to our work
means an unconstrained life with unlimited possibilities, and therefore work is what liberates the
human. This is how Marx comes to theorise that work is the distinctive essence of his human nature
that sets us apart from all other species.
However, Marx writes that capitalism has warped this sole idiosyncrasy of humans by placing an
individual s work at the center of his/her survival; it has constrained work to the means by which we
survive, just like an animal, hence Marx s assertion that in a capitalist society the individual
erroneously feels most free in the animal aspects of life like eating, sleeping, and propagating: What is
animal becomes human, and what is human becomes animal (Marx, 1964; cited from ibid: 95); Marx
sees this as problematic for society. Free labour can only be achieved once the animal aspects of life
are satisfied (ibid.), but Marx finds this term ironic; free labour refers to the legal right of the
individual to enter a labour

The 3D environment and the extracellular matrix: One of the key reasons for why a 3D environment
promotes neural cell growth and function more closely resembling that seen in vivo is due to a much
richer extracellular matrix (ECM). The brain ECM is a hydrogel of hyaluronic acid with lamins,
fibronectin, collagens, vitronectin, tenacins, and proteoglycans [15]. These structures provide key cell
binding domains, and bioactive motifs that coordinate cell cell interactions, and signaling from growth
factors [12, 15]. Altered signaling patterns leads to changes in gene and thus protein expression and
subsequently cell behaviour. The ECM is also critical for interaction between glial cells and neurons
and this process is dependent not only on astrocyte neuron interaction but also microglia neuron
interaction and microglia astrocyte neuron interactions [15, 35, 39]. In vivo, this occurs in a 3D
manner with cells interacting with many other cells, but this is impaired in 2D cultures. A 3D matrix
also controls movement of oxygen, nutrient transfer and removal of wastes in a manner that occurs
similar to the brain rather than the batch media of 2D cultures that bath cells in high concentrations of
compounds and allow rapid diffusion of waste [34, 40]. Formation of the microenvironmental
conditions optimal for neural cell function depends on a 3D matrix and its interacting proteins and

Wholesale Funding, Bank Runs and Liquidity Freezes In the 2007/8 Financial Crisis
Introduction
Banks make loans which are not quickly sold at high price. The demand deposits by Banks issue allow
their depositors to make withdraws at their convenience. Therefore a liquidity mismatch exists
between a bank s liabilities which are more liquid compared to the bank s assets. It leads to a problem
in case a large number of depositors decide to withdraw at the same time. Such a situation is called a
bank run. To prevent bank runs there are policies by the banks to stop runs, while the government
provides deposit insurance for prevention of bank runs. The canonical model of depositor runs by
Diamond and Dybvig (1983) provides an explanation as to why banks issue deposits which have
greater liquidity than the bank s assets and also explain why banks are prone to depositor runs
(Diamond, Dybvig, 1983). This model focuses on bank runs along other financial crises and the
mechanisms to prevent such financial crises. This paper discusses how traditional bank runs is
different from runs in the 2008 financial crisis and the innovation of wholesale funding.

Trump won the president in this month. After two months, Donald Trump will be the official

As we known, The Trump Organization runs a lot of business all around the US. When Donald Trump
moves into the White House, he ll be the most controversial president in America history. After Trump
is the president, his business interest is related to the politic. But there is no law and rules that asks a
president to split his financial interests before he takes the president position. In past few period,
presidents got away from the business to avoid the conflicts. Trump has no way to put his real estate
empire aside. Obvious, he would involve his business into the future politic policy.
Democrats aware this conflicts of the interest. But they can t call official hearings. But they will keep
the eyes on him. Also, if necessary, they can do investigations to avoid the conflicts of the interest.
In addition, Trump is expressing an interest in a major infrastructure plan, equal pay for women, and
closing the interest tax rate. These acts could give him a benefits, but they are good for the country.
The infrastructure plan, such as highway, could improve the people life. Tax plan keeps the money in

and meticulousness were emphasized and learned in every class, cooperation and trust were mastered
during partnering, and fearlessness was acquired after numerous performances. Though all of these
characteristics have shaped me as an individual, I am most proud of the hard work ethic that I have
achieved. At the end of my junior year,

Difference Between Open And Open Source Software
Sources of vulnerabilities can come from internal and external attack vectors; it can also stem from
lack of knowledge. Free and open source software offer significate benefits to an organization, which
can also pose a risk that can allow attackers to gain access to vital information on the network server.
Many security professionals use open source software to fast track transport of digital content. Open
source application has many drawbacks, the fact that public source application is free for anyone to
use and possible alter. Software that is custom built has a better security rate than open source
software because security update features built into the application package. The analyst has shown

systems are a user s computer or IT servers. Illegal transfers can be carried out by someone manually
or automatically via malicious programs across a network (Splunk, 2017). It wise for the organization
to invest in different security tools to combat the data exfiltration.
By using multiple platforms that can stream and identifies the intrusion attack can provide values for
the server by investigating the potential threat vectors. The isolated event can be studied by the
technology team to find a solution and prevent future issues from happening.
Splunk is a streaming application that provides capturing and analysis compatibilities.

Since the implementation of bringing your device to work policy, company s network the server is
vulnerable to potential attacks. I understand the purpose of the company mission by allowing their

The Columbian Exchange Summary
Until the sixteenth century, the experts in that period of time believed that it was impossible to sail
west across from the Atlantic to Asia. By his adventure, Christopher Columbus, an Italian navigator,
proved that they were wrong. However, based on the theory that the earth was a sphere, he thought
that he could reach the East Indies by sailing west. He calculated the distance from Portugal to Asia
was shorter than to Congo. In fact, the real distance from Portugal to Japan was much further, over ten
thousand miles. With his erroneous estimate, he planned a scheme to prove he was right. After several
unsuccessful lobbying in Portugal, Spain, even in England and France, eventually, in 1492, he won
financing for his journey from Spanish monarchs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The exchange between the Old World and the New World, which was referred the Columbian
Exchange, have been changing the lives of the people both in the America and the Europe. Many
crops, plants and animals were introduced and had an important influence in the world history.
Otherwise, it brought dangerous diseases which killed a lot of the native Americans due to not having
natural immunity. Aside new diseases, the Spanish also carried the resources from the Old World, and
it has changed both natural and human in the Americas. Being different from other European
colonization, the royal Spanish pacified the Indians by Catholic missionaries. In fact, to the natives,
these men were killing their families, taking their lands, and destroying their earth. The conquests
shaped the emerging system of land ownership. The hacienda system developed because
conquistadors fought seeking wealth and land grants. Castas, people of mixed blood, became the
largest social class in the 18th century. In the result, the present day Americas are more mixed races
than anywhere on the planet, and it becomes one of the defining characteristics of the Americas today.
The conquest of America, although progressive, should not be considered a positive movement. From
its beginning after discovery, to its end in 1825, the conquests led to

Trail Of Tears History
The Trail of Tears was a trail often used by Native Americans on their way of escaping the white
settlers during the Indian Removal Act. The group of tribes were called the Five Civilized Tribes. It
consisted of the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole Nations. The tribes lived on
land in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and Florida. The land of the tribes were rich in
value. The discovery of gold made the white settlers want the land of the Natives, which was found
near Dahlonega, Georgia in 1928. Trail of Tears originated from a description of the Choctaw nation
in 1831 when the Indian Removal Act began. The trail was known as trail where they cried , which is
known today as The Trail of Tears . There were over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Andrew Jackson (from Tennessee) was apart of the Indian Removal. In 1814, he commanded the U.S,
Military that defeated a fraction of the Creek Nation. The Creeks refused to migrate, but the
Chickasaws saw the removal as inevitable and did not resist. Then in 1823, Supreme Court handed
down a decision which stated that Indians could occupy lands with the U.S. but couldn t hold the title
to those lands, which was called the Right of Occupancy . Later in March 1832, a treaty was signed
and opened a portion of Alabama land. The Natives were guaranteed protected ownership of
remaining portion. By 1837, Jackson had removed forty six thousand Natives Americans land east of
Mississippi, which had then opened twenty five million acres of land to white settlement and slavery.
Cherokees used legal means in attempt to safeguard their rights and the Chickasaws were forced to
pay the Choctaws for their right to live on part of western allotment. President Martin Van Buren sent
General Winfield Scott and seven thousand soldiers to expedite the process because some Natives
wanted to stay and fight, they then forced the Cherokees into stockades at bayonet point. In 1907,
Oklahoma became a state and Indian Territory was gone for good. Going back, there were many
Seminole Wars or also called Florida Wars. There were three Seminole Wars and they were the longest
and most expensive Indian Wars in U.S history. Thousands and thousands of lives were lost during the
wars. The first Seminole War lasted from 1817 to 1818. Andrew Jackson s attitude toward Native
Americans was patronized and

  • 2. River Padma Personal Statement Of Purpose River Padma, the biggest and most turbulent river of Bangladesh, is around twenty kilometers from my village where I grew up listening about the accidents of Steamer sinking (one kind of vessel that made locally and used to cross the river) from my childhood. In later years I also had some real acute experience of Steamer accidents. Every year around thousands of people lost their lives because of these accidents which take place for several times in each year. Crossing river Padma is must for the people of South Bangladesh as it is the only way to reach to the capital city, Dhaka. In my childhood I just always asked myself why this type of accident happens. We live in the ages of modern technology and people have already explored the universe. So isn t it possible to make safe water vessels for carrying people? This question revolved in my mind and it was the core point why I chose Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering as my expected subject in university level. Discuss the view that urbanisation in both the developed and the developing world is unsustainable (40marks) Urbanisation is the process in which people move from a rural area to an urban area. Levels of urbanisation are determined by looking at both the population of rural and urban areas. For the first time ever in history more people live in urban areas than in rural areas. This movement shows no sign of stopping with a predicted 1.84% increase in people living in urban areas expected between 2015 and 2020. And this disparity in rural urban growth can be a really damaging element if the urban areas of a country aren t prepared for the influx of people. This imbalance can certainly lead to unsustainability; not just in the developing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This meant that slum housing and cheap terraced housing was built and factories were situated near the houses in various inner city areas. This can be seen in British cities such as Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle. On the other hand, developing nations face more problems in coping with the surge in urban population. They can be unprepared for the sheer amount of inward migrants or lack funds to properly support and educate the new residents. Their urbanisation has happened in more recent years; and some may argue that it has occurred a lot faster than it did with their developed counterparts. This speed is most likely due to the technological age that we live in and the ease of travel that exists in many developing nations. Unlike the urbanisation that happened in Europe circa 1800, the migrants that are flocking to urban areas don t need many particular skills and the work is low paid both in and out of cities. The city offers a better prospects to migrants than the fields do, and that is the prime reason why anyone would move. There are inevitable problems that arise with a densely populated urban area. One of these is the issue of waste management. Countries cope with this issue in various ways, some of the solutions are not available to developing countries to the high cost of them. In a developed country such as the United Kingdom, there are laws in place that encourage and inforce an eco friendly attitude towards waste disposal. Sending millions of tonnes of ... • 4. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Critical Legal Studies Analyse the strength of the Critical Legal Studies movements critiques of indeterminacy and contradiction. Critical Legal Studies: Critiques of Indeterminacy and Contradiction in Law Critical legal studies comes under the umbrella term of critical legal theory along with such groups as feminists and Marxist theorists. An influence can be seen from American Legal Realism in some areas of critical legal studies. The scholars who work under this term have no general approach or theory but instead consider a variety of critiques including those of indeterminacy and contradiction. They tend to see the law as consisting of many contradictions which they believes supports a status quo of some people being left disadvantaged by the law whilst others gain a disadvantage. They believe due to this inequality that there needs to be a social change to improve the system. Indeterminacy appears to be able to be split up into several smaller critical categories and it is this critique which shall be dealt with first. 1. Indeterminacy In similarity to American Legal Realists, Critical Legal Studies scholars believe that the rules that are contained within statutes and common law are unable to establish an outcome in new cases that come before the court . This is partly due to the criticism of indeterminacy they have based on the idea known as legal reasoning. Legal reasoning, according to Critical Legal Studies, is in fact nothing more than a manipulation of abstract categories with no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Let me begin discussing with you the advantages of real estate investments. I found the advantages as most suited and really practical. Advantages Real Estate Investments are Less Risky As compared to other investments, less of misadventure is involved in a real estate property. I will not get away from the fact that just like any investment you make; you have the risk of losing it. Real estate investments are traditionally considered a stable and rich gainer, provided if one takes it seriously and with full sagacity. The reasons for the real estate investments becoming less risky adventure primarily relate to various socio economic factors, location, market behavior, the population density of an area; ... • 6. Summary Of Carter Father Of Black History Month Carter G. Woodson formally known as the Father of Black History Month was an extraordinarily wise man who dedicated his life time to African American History. His most famous pieces of writings was his book The Mis Education of the Negro in which many topics are discussed for example education, business, politics, religion, self hatred, and black on black prejudice, which I exceptionally believe is a very negative dilemma in the present day society. An abundant amount of what Woodson wrote about in nineteen thirtythree about blacks minds being controlled through the white people in economics, history, literature, philosophy and religion I strongly agree is still, to an extent the problem today. Which installs at an early age in black children that we are not as smart, skilled, and important as the white man. Education was not the only aspect Woodson discussed in his book that is still prevalent today. Correspondingly, politics also is an aspect Woodson discussed in The Mis Education of the Negro that is prevalent in present day society. Woodson quotes, ANOTHER factor the Negro needs is a new figure in politics, one who will not concern himself so much with what others can do for him as with what he can do for himself (Woodson chap. 17 par. 1). In Woodson s book when he talks about politics like the quote above he says how black people need to make a way for themselves and respect themselves instead of being so dependent on the white man s government that has been against black people from the beginning. The 1920s was also a time where women gained political freedom. The Nineteenth Amendment was passed which allowed women to vote. • 9. Aristotle s Mandate For Tragedy In The Play Seduced By Sam... Seduced by Sam Shepard is a quite confusing play with a plethora of secrets, tales, and lies set in a remote location in Mexico. During the production we see that the characters unravel as more characters join the initial two cast members. They begin to reveal the details of their past lives, unseen current events, and future events unknown to all. The playwright, Sam Shepard, wrote as an insight to how secrets, allusions, and delusions can create chaos. The delusion of stability and comfort is broken down in the play until it no longer exists, then it is replaced with a false sense of fulfillment. I believe this play does follows Aristotle s mandate for tragedy. Here we have Henry Hackamore, a man who once had everything in life, in a child state of mind going insane. • 10. Benefits Of Running Convection Allowing Models ( Cams )... 1. Introduction The benefits of running convection allowing models (CAMs) for convective storm prediction have been demonstrated in a variety of contexts over the past decade (e.g., Done et al. 2004; Kain et al. 2006; Lean et al. 2008; Kain et al. 2008; Clark et al. 2009; Coniglio et al. 2010; Schwartz et al. 2009; Sobash et al. 2011; Clark et al. 2010, Clark et al. 2011; Weisman et al. 2013). As these studies show, much of the value of running CAM forecasts comes from their ability to provide explicit information about convective properties such as initiation, mode, motion, longevity, and intensity. To effectively use CAM output in operational forecasting settings, novel forms of guidance are needed to summarize these forecast attributes in ways that can be easily understood by forecasters and other end users. Toward this end, Sobash et al. (2011), hereafter S11, documented a proof of concept for producing a next day (12 UTC to 12 UTC) severe convective weather guidance product using output from deterministic CAM forecasts initialized at 00 UTC. In S11, locations where intense simulated convective storms occurred were identified using updraft helicity (UH; Kain et al. 2008), a diagnostic designed to detect mid level mesocyclones in CAM output. A threshold was applied to the UH field to identify severe simulated convection and produce a field of surrogate severe weather reports, which were then spatially smoothed to create a surrogate severe probabilistic forecast ... The Matrix is sufficiently complex to allow for this apparent lack of determinism and ubiquity of free will. The root question is: is there any difference between making decisions and feeling certain of making them (not having made them)? If one is unaware of the existence of the Matrix, the answer is no. From the inside, as a part of the Matrix, making decisions and appearing to be making them are identical states. In Voltaire s Letters on England, he contributes the development of England to its respectable regards toward religion, governmental systems, and scientific advancements. He contrasts these practices with those of the less respectable Frenchmen, and reveals the different outcomes of the two nations. Following the Reformation, there was a great division within the Church between the Catholics and Protestants. This tension was eased during the reign of Queen Elizabeth with the passing of the Act of Supremacy in 1559, which created the Church of England and consequently the Anglican Church. Eventually Anglicanism became known as the New Catholicism . While the pope was no longer recognized, bishops, and many aspects of medieval heritage was retained under the Anglican Church. It was highly supported by many elites due to its powerful expression of culture. In Voltaire s letters, he acknowledges that even though everyone is allowed to practice their own religion, the true religion that in which a man makes his fortune is the Church of England. Specifically, Stephanie O Neill USA today journalist, shares that some of these addicts have just hit rock bottom in their lives. So therefore drugs is what they turn to (O Neill). Thus, this point proves that not every person who uses is a bad person its just the drugs that makes them make bad decisions. Secondly, we need safe injection sites that would go beyond existing needle exchanges by allowing drug use on the premises. In fact, O Neill reports that California is voting on a bill that would provide injection sites with health care providers that will treat opioid overdose s. Therefore, this confirms that supervised sites offer care for addicts. In addition, research shows supervised injection facilities in other countries have reduced overdose s. To illustrate, O Neill tells us that other studies show that there has been a drop of 35% in deaths since the injection sites have opened. Consequently, this information shows that by providing medical help to addicts with brain disease deaths decrease. The Importance Of Animal Uses In Animals Humans have used animals for food, transport, companionship and experimental research to develop medicine and investigate the structure and function of the body. This dates back to 130 AD, where the commonly used animals were pigs, monkeys, and dogs (Vaumans, 2005). Dogs are the species most frequently used in the animal models and are referred to as default non rodent (Smith et al., 2002). Especially, in toxicology studies, dogs are the preferred choice due to their similarities of human toxicity (Smith et al., 2002). Today, 75 100 million vertebrates are used per year worldwide for research, teaching, and testing (Vaumans, 2005). In many countries it is mandatory to grade the level of discomfort and pain for the laboratory animal. Animals suffering from discomfort and/or stress can have a change in their endocrinology and immunology results (Vaumans, 2005). By testing oxytocin concentrations in dogs can help facilitate the transition into new social settings and into new laboratory settings (Stallings, 2015). In addition, oxytocin plays a role in non social observations such as learning, anxiety, feeding, and pain (Stallings, 2015). The People s Republic of China (PRC) lays territorial claims to Taiwan and most countries recognize China as the mainland as Taiwan as an autonomous region within it. However, Taiwan sees itself independent as the true government of China, but only a couple dozen countries recognize it as sovereign government and by technical definition of what constitutes as a sovereign state under the Montevideo Convention of 1933, Taiwan fits the criteria.1 Though before 1971, both countries laid ... Marx is credited as being one of the founding fathers of sociology and the social sciences (along with Durkheim and Weber). The products of human work are the objectification of an individual s human nature; the individual is in what he makes and through this objectification we ultimately come to understand ourselves (ibid: 92). Furthermore, the application of the human mind s unlimited conceptual abilities to our work means an unconstrained life with unlimited possibilities, and therefore work is what liberates the human. This is how Marx comes to theorise that work is the distinctive essence of his human nature that sets us apart from all other species. However, Marx writes that capitalism has warped this sole idiosyncrasy of humans by placing an individual s work at the center of his/her survival; it has constrained work to the means by which we survive, just like an animal, hence Marx s assertion that in a capitalist society the individual erroneously feels most free in the animal aspects of life like eating, sleeping, and propagating: What is animal becomes human, and what is human becomes animal (Marx, 1964; cited from ibid: 95); Marx sees this as problematic for society. Free labour can only be achieved once the animal aspects of life are satisfied (ibid.), but Marx finds this term ironic; free labour refers to the legal right of the individual to enter a labour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 3D environment and the extracellular matrix: One of the key reasons for why a 3D environment promotes neural cell growth and function more closely resembling that seen in vivo is due to a much richer extracellular matrix (ECM). The brain ECM is a hydrogel of hyaluronic acid with lamins, fibronectin, collagens, vitronectin, tenacins, and proteoglycans [15]. These structures provide key cell binding domains, and bioactive motifs that coordinate cell cell interactions, and signaling from growth factors [12, 15]. Altered signaling patterns leads to changes in gene and thus protein expression and subsequently cell behaviour. The ECM is also critical for interaction between glial cells and neurons and this process is dependent not only on astrocyte neuron interaction but also microglia neuron interaction and microglia astrocyte neuron interactions [15, 35, 39]. In vivo, this occurs in a 3D manner with cells interacting with many other cells, but this is impaired in 2D cultures. A 3D matrix also controls movement of oxygen, nutrient transfer and removal of wastes in a manner that occurs similar to the brain rather than the batch media of 2D cultures that bath cells in high concentrations of compounds and allow rapid diffusion of waste [34, 40]. Wholesale Funding, Bank Runs And Liquidity Freezes Wholesale Funding, Bank Runs and Liquidity Freezes In the 2007/8 Financial Crisis Name Course Tutor University City/State Date Wholesale Funding, Bank Runs and Liquidity Freezes In the 2007/8 Financial Crisis Introduction Banks make loans which are not quickly sold at high price. The demand deposits by Banks issue allow their depositors to make withdraws at their convenience. Therefore a liquidity mismatch exists between a bank s liabilities which are more liquid compared to the bank s assets. It leads to a problem in case a large number of depositors decide to withdraw at the same time. Such a situation is called a bank run. To prevent bank runs there are policies by the banks to stop runs, while the government provides deposit insurance for prevention of bank runs. The canonical model of depositor runs by Diamond and Dybvig (1983) provides an explanation as to why banks issue deposits which have greater liquidity than the bank s assets and also explain why banks are prone to depositor runs (Diamond, Dybvig, 1983). This model focuses on bank runs along other financial crises and the mechanisms to prevent such financial crises.
