Literary Analysis Of Richard Wilbur s Boy At The Window
A child s life is replete with exhilaration, merriment, and unalloyed thoughts. Moreover, where there
is joy, there is sorrow. The assertions applied in Boy at the Window by Richard Wilbur connect the
unusual bond intertwined between a young child and a snowman. The child s innocent mind
contributes to the underlying concerns within his steadfast heart. Various literary elements are
conveyed throughout the concise poem, which allude to the differentiating points of view
perceived by the boyand the snowman. The young boy is introduced as emotionally unstable based
on the harsh effects of Mother Nature. Accordingly, as the boy strengthens his feelings of grief,
the snowman remains in a state of cruelty as he suffers outside in the gnashing of snow. The boy
collects all of his feelings of sadness into his point of view, which guides the reader to generating
a sense of pity for the child. The snowman gives the boy a God forsaken stare that essentially is
the snowman s cry for help in the eyes of the boy. Despite the overwhelming heartache the boy is
experiencing, the snowman appears to be in a more subtle state of mind. Contrasting points of view
counteract to the opposing feelings on each side of the window s glass. The snowman
subconsciously implies a sense of sympathy for the boy as he stays outside in the unbearable
weather. His point of view is essential to developing the overall message of youthful innocence. As
the snowman melts enough to make the child begin to cry, it is inferred that the snowman was not
initiating the gloomy feelings of the child; he was nonetheless trying to prevent them. Initially, the
divergent points of view were difficult to grasp, but within further evaluation it is clear to notice
that the two different points of view illustrate the devastation within fear and heartfelt love for
genuine people. Correspondingly, the connotation throughout the poem reveals the cruel weather
conditions as well as the vivid reactions of the child. Dark , cold , and enormous moan contribute
to the idea of how abrupt the snowstorm was outside of the window. Wilbur brilliantly states that
the young boy was looking through a bright pane . Pane can also be inferred as the literal pain

Herzberg s Achievement Motivation Analysis
According to Maslow, people will most often follow the order above. So to motivate the
employees, managers should follow also this order, for example first looking at the physiological
needs of their employees by making sure that they are able to sleep and to eat, then they should
guarantee a safe place at the work, after they should create an ambiance at the work place by
making a strong relationships between them, and of course they should respect the employees and
give them the responsibilities, that will give the employees more confidence and strength.
Herzberg s two factor theory:
Herzberg s theory looked at people s needs at work by grouped them under two headings:
1.Hygiene factors (dissatisfiers): these are the things to do with work that people usually grumble
about. They are needs that, if they are not satisfied.

This view sees inequalities of power and economic wealth as having their roots in the nature of the
capitalist economic system. Conflict is therefore seen as inevitable and trade unions are a natural
response of workers to their exploitation by capital. Whilst there may be periods of acquiescence,
the Marxist view would be that institutions of joint regulation would enhance rather than limit
management s position as they presume the continuation of capitalism rather than challenge

Evolution And Virality Of Memes
Evolution and Virality of Memes
How have memes evolved and why do they go viral? Memes did not originate from the internet
contrary to popular belief, but have actually been appearing in culture for centuries. The main
difference between internet memes and pre internet memes is the medium in which they go viral. A
meme has two definitions; Dawkins definition, and internet memes. Charles Dawkins first coined
the term meme in 1976 in his book The Selfish Gene, and was referring to cultural ideas, beliefs,
fashion, practices, etc. In his book he came up with a theory that memes develops similar to how
genes spread in organisms. Memes transmit from one mind to another through speech, writing, or
any form of communication. Likewise genes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This square dates back to 79 AD in the ruins of Pompeii, where Jewish people inscribed it on
doorways and various objects to protect from evil. Later, in about the Third to Fifth century,
Christians adopted this practice as their own. The meme had spread and mutated to accommodate
both cultures. Likewise, Sator Square has still survived to this day. However, it s not as popular as
it once used to be nor used as much. Additionally Kilroy was Here is another meme that spread
similarly to internet memes, and the sator square. James J. Kilroy created it during World War II.
He inspected the bottoms of warships under construction, and after he had completed the
inspection he would write in chalk Kilroy was Here on the bottom of them. The chalk
consequently, would be erased too easily though, so he scrawled Kilroy was Here in crayon on
the bottom of the ship instead. The image that s associated with this phrase is a bald headed man
with a large nose peeking over a ledge however, predates the phrase. There s conflicting ideas to
who drew it first, but most people think the British cartoonist George Edward Chatterton drew it in
1938. Somehow this image united with the phrase, and formed the Kilroy was Here meme.
Subsequently this spawned a joke within the GIs of America. It became a challenge to place this
phrase and picture in unusual places, and is said to be on Mt. Everest, the Statue of Liberty, and on
the moon. Both of these

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
BONUS ISSUE
Bonus issues are simply distribution of additional stocks to the existing shareholders. It is a free
issue of shares, without a subscription price, made to existing shareholders in proportion to their
current investment. A firm can distribute bonus shares by using retained earnings or accumulated
capital reserves. The relationship between Bonus issues and share prices has been the subject of
much empirical discussion within the finance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The current study is to identify whether the announcement of bonus issue and stock split has any
impact on the stock price.
1.3OBJECTIVES OF STUDY
The various objectives are * To analyze the impact of announcement of stock split and bonus shares.
* To investigate whether this would lead to superior profitability. * To see whether there is any
abnormal returns after the announcement of bonus issue and stock split * To find out the most
important determinants of buying decision making of companies announcing bonus shares
1.4RESEARCH METHOD
The research methods would be event study and signaling hypothesis. This can be done with the
help of tools like T tests and graphs.
1.5EXPECTED CONTRIBUTION AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESEARCH
The research contributed towards the factors that lead to abnormal returns on announcement of
bonus issue and stock splits. The research helps us to analyze the market reaction on announcement
of stock splits.
1.6STRUCTURE OF THE THESIS
Empirical studies in India and abroad have proved that there is significant abnormal return around
bonus issue announcement. These have been mainly proved using event study and the signaling
hypothesis. The study would provide an insight into the problem of whether there is any change in
the stock price on issue of the bonus shares and stock split. This would be done by building a
model by using tools like

Chapter 5 Network Layers Questions 3, 5, 8
Chapter 5: Questions 3,4, and 8

3. What are the parts of TCP/IP and what do they do? Who is the primary user of TCP/IP?
TCP/IP has two parts. TCP is the transport layer protocol that links the application layer to the
network layer. It performs segmenting: breaking the data into smaller PDUs called segments,
numbering them, ensuring each segment is reliably delivered, and putting them in the proper order
at the destination. IP is the network layer protocol and performs addressing and routing. IP
software is used at each of the intervening computers through which the message passes; it is IP
that routes the message to the final destination. The TCP software needs to be active only at the
sender and the receiver, because TCP ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Network layer addresses and application layer addresses go hand in hand, so the same standards
group usually assigns both (e.g., www.indiana.edu at the application layer means 129.79.78.4 at the
network layer). It is possible to have several application layer addresses for the same computer.
8. What is a subnet mask? A subnet allows the flow of a network traffic between hosts to be
segregated based on a network configuration. The most recognizeable aspect of subnetting is the
subnet mask. Like IP addresses , a subnet mask contains 4 bytes (32 bits)and is often written
using the same dotted decimal notation. For example, a very common subnet mask in its binary
representation 11111111 11111111 11111111 00000000 is typically shown in the equivalent, more
readable form 255.255.255.0 A subnet mask neither works like an IP address, nor does it exist
independently from them. Instead, subnet masks accompany an IP address and the two values
work together. Applying the subnet mask to an IP address splits the address into two parts, an
extended network address and a host address. For a subnet mask to be valid, its left most bits
must be set to 1 . For example, 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 is an invalid subnet mask
because the leftmost bit is set to 0 . Conversely, the rightmost bits in a valid subnet mask must

Infraspecific Variation Essay

These populations were selected from different regions of the country; therefore some degrees of
infraspecific variations were expected. These types of variations are seen in different genus as well
as families. Lukovic et al. (2009) stated that plants respond to environmental variations, particularly
to water availability through morphological, anatomical and biochemical adjustments that help

Moreover, Tehran and Polor populations were far from each other. It seems that these populations

The essential oil compositions and their percentages differed between the studied populations. The
major parts of oil highly varied between the samples. Various studies (e.g. Figueiredo et al., 2008;
Lakuŝić et al., 2012) proved that populations of the same species collected from different habitat
have diverse essential oil composition. Because, the essential oils biosynthesis is under the
influence of many abiotic and biotic factors. Formisano et al., (2015) stated the plant
phytochemical composition is strongly influenced by the environment condition, and this is
particularly true for medicinal herbs.
Sesquiterpene hydrocarbon, oxygenated hydrocarbon, monoterpene hydrocarbon and oxygenated
monoterpene constituted major parts of essential oil. The mounts of these compounds widely
differed between the examined samples; therefore, the profile of essential oil compositions differed
between the examined samples. Glynn et al., (2007) reported variations of terpene content with
environmental stress. The growth differentiation balance hypothesis postulates that there is a
physiological trade off between growth and secondary metabolism.

Elizabethan Music
Music During The Elizabethan Era
During the reign of Queen Elizabeth the First (1558 1603), English art and culture reached a high
point known as the top of the English renaissance. Elizabethan music experienced a change in
popularity from sacred to non religious music and the rise of instrumental music. Experienced
musicians were hired by the Church of England, the wealthy, and rising middle class. Queen
Elizabeth I greatly enjoyed music and played the lute and virginal herself. She also believed that
dancing was a great form of physical activity and hired musicians to play for her while she
danced. While she was queen, she employed about 70 musicians and her interests were to be
adopted by those she ruled over. All noblemen were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were equal to a modern town s band. The role of the Waits was to perform at public events
that would be viewed by the town and were supposed to play original composed music.
Street musicians or travelling minstrels were frowned upon. They were often feared by the
community and grew out of style when they were replaced by tavern and theatre musicians. Street
music was often heard at markets and fairs, and was usually light and quick. They performed using
instruments such as fiddles, lutes, recorders, and small percussion instruments gathering crowds
when they played. According to elizabethan era.org.uk/elizabethan music, the songs they played
and sang were traditional favorites, a far cry of the sophisticated and refined music of the
Elizabethan court .
Due to the increasing popularity of music, theater became popular itself. Location was very
important to a theater musician, as the location gave different effects to the sound produced. This
could create the illusion of distance or providing an atmosphere to the plays and performances.
With the rise of William Shakespeare in 1556, theater music became even more popular.
Composers Many composers of the Elizabethan period are still known today. William Byrd
(1539 1623) is one of which and is considered by many to be one of the greatest of the Elizabethan
composers. He was the main composer of religious music and many of his songs still

American Transportation Infrastructure Essay
American transportation Infrastructure has taken a toll over the past decade. This is due to the
lack of proper maintenance. These infrastructure are in serious disorder and they continue to
deteriorate and age across the country. The upkeep of roads and bridges is a struggle in term of
monetary availability and various government agencies at all level are having a hard time meeting

the combined highway and transit expenses with reference to the gross domestic product has

The infrastructure area in this great nation is deprecating when compared to the rest of the
developed countries. America went from having the best modernized roadways and highways in the
mid 1900s to an obsolete infrastructure at present. The U.S globally ranks 16th in quality of

Sociological Paradigm
Sociological Paradigm
Societies have different expectations about how individuals and groups should behave and this is
based on the values, beliefs and various forms of interactions that exist among individuals in the
society and give cues to how men and women should behave (Blackstone, 2003). Ridgeway and
Correll (2004) in their work Unpacking Gender System describe gender as an institutionalized
system of social practices and view inequality in multilevel perspective with cultural beliefs and
resource distribution at macro level, behaviour patterns at interactional level and selves and
identities at the individual level. Leaper and Friedman use Social Structural Process and the Social
Interactive Process to describe children s gender development with relation to the societal context.
The social structural process views how power and status at home and outside impose gendered
roles and emphasize gender equality and the constraints placed on these roles. The social interactive
process views gender roles in the society during children s development requires relating it with a
large cultural context that places emphasis on the social interactions and daily activities.

The Negative Effects Of Drug Prohibition
Numerous researchers contend that drug prohibition policies actually create more issues than are
solved. The negative effects of drug restriction policies include: negative health effects, increased
drug effects, crimes at home and abroad, increased violence, misuse of assets and resources,
violation of civil rights and excess on criminal and government systems. Heavy emphasis on
upholding criminal restrictions on drugcreation and selling was also significantly influencing the
productivity of illegal drug markets and increasing the development and operations of groups that
carry out crimes, corrupt powers, and undermine the rules and laws in numerous countries.
Bertram et al. states that drug related crimes is not necessarily the result of drug use but rather of
the conditions under which people are constrained, by drug prohibition policies, to purchase and
sell drugs. The sorts of unlawful acts and crimes related to drugs are, to a great extent, made by
drug policies. Laws that make drug ownership illegal, create the largest amount of drug criminals.
Different crimes, for example, violent acts and burglary, are created by underground markets (black
markets) in which drugs are traded. Our government is ensuring the monopoly of the black market
by restricting the utilization of non prescribed drugs. There is a great interest for which there must
be a great supply and the present laws prohibiting drug exchange and usage encourage the
development of these underground markets.

Feudalism And Serfs
In Feudalism there was no standing army; instead, soldiers referred to as knights were called
upon to fight when needed by the king. Using the system of obligations between the lords,
vassals, and the serfs centered around a fief, a large body of knights was supported by
Feudalism. In many cases, the vassal himself was a knight due to the military obligations to his
lord. The knights were widely respected and were seen as chivalrous as they took a solemn oath
to the king to defend him with their lives (Nardo 31). Serfs contributed to the Feudalistic military
in a few ways. Foremost, they worked on the fief and supported a single knight by providing him
with food and equipment in order for him to fight (Lenehan). A large number of knights... Show

Robert Lupton (2011) clearly states his thesis in the opening line of his book; What Americans
avoid facing is that while we are very generous in charitable giving, much of that money is either

several themes that Lupton seeks to unpack throughout his work. He lays the foundation for the
need of charitable reform by providing examples and insight into instances where charitable giving
can harm where it intended to help. Then he goes on to provide numerous examples of charitable
giving that helps instead of harms its recipients. Throughout the book he contributes ways to turn

Throughout the novel Trujillo repeatedly can be compared to a god. Through the use of his
spies and his authoritarian rule suggests he is trying to play the role of an unjust god. In Mama s

wonders why God would allow such a terrible man to rule their country. When she looks up again

merging of Trujillo occurs in chapter 6. The paper fans that the girls received at the party thrown

that it wouldn t have been in his favour. He struck while the iron was hot ; there was no other way

Corporate Explosionage Attacks
Corporate espionage attacks are not necessarily committed by adversarial and friendly foreign
powers. They may also be committed by competing industrial players whose goal is to steal
technology for an upper intellectual advantage, and in doing so, undermine the victim nation s
economy. And while businesses with sensitive defense and government information capabilities are
the primary targets of foreign targeting, private organizations have also grown increasingly
vulnerable due to the vast expansion of globalization and the interconnected growth of
industrialized nations. In either scenario, foreign government or competing industry, spies achieve
their means through similar exploitation of weaknesses in technology and insider information....

What may also be corroborated is the rise in corporate espionage. What is debatable, however, are
the actual numbers. According to Bressler (2015), similar studies come to no agreeable conclusion.
There is no single source data which offers any conclusive evidence of total economic losses in
either industry or national economy. Unlike the FBI s Uniform Crime Reports, which provides a
tabulation of various types of crimes in the U.S., there is presently no accurate way to measure
corporate espionage. Companies are under no reporting mandates nor are there any qualitative
measures in place. Furthermore, there is a culture of apprehension within some organizations which
may prevent reporting espionage related incidents. Undisclosed outcomes, however, should not be
confused with complacency. There is often a reluctance across industries to implement the
necessary security precautions until after an event occurs. This could be attributed to budge
constraints or underestimating the nature of the threat. Sometimes the necessary precautions come
only after an event in which the organization suffers an insurmountable

Oral Health
Abstract What is the full meaning of oral health and its importance to general health and well
being? It is stated in the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial research that oral health is
integral to general health. According to the Namibian Dental Association, dentistry dates all the
way back to the early Egyptian civilization. One major barrier to oral health is the access to
insurance. Several American are without dental insurance and feel that they do not need to receive

Australia s position in the Asia pacific remains strategically important to our domestic and

Summary
Foreign policymakers within Australia face the challenge of establishing policy that retains
American engagement with Australia (based on our historic alliances), while acknowledging

entrepreneurship can also be found in the literature. Hisrich and Peters (1998) define
entrepreneurship as the process of creating something new with value by devoting the necessary
time effort assuming the accompanying financial, physic and social risks and receiving the
resulting rewards of monetary and personal satisfaction and independence while Zacharis et al
(2000) define entrepreneurship as any attempt to create a new business enterprise or to expand
existing business by an individual, ateam individuals or an established business . Micro enterprises
are typically defined as very small, informally run businesses, involved in activities other than crop
production. In the United States, Canada and Britain, small scale business is defined according to
the number of paid employees and total annual turnover. In Britain for example, businesses with an
annual sales of ВЈ2 million or less and have less than 200 paid employees will be classified as

On the way to discover a new sailing path to India, Christopher Columbus discovers another
continent believing e to be India. The continent is later visited by Americo Vespucio who
determines it is not India and names it America. The Ottoman Empire had blocked the previous
path to India and deprived the Europeans from the spices and silk they were accustomed to. After

According to Theodor Elze (1889) the island in The Tempest is Pantalaria, whose natural sights
correspond with the descriptions in the play, and its nearby town of African coast Calibia, served
as an inspiration to Shakespeare. Another explanation for the name Caliban is kalebon, an Arabic
word for vile dog , common reference for North African creature in England at that period. Dutch
scholar Albert Kluyver, would eliminate the cannibal, as it did not exist in English language with
the same meaning as in Shakespeare`s time, instead he believes it to mean black in gypsy
language. It is very probable that Shakespeare addressed African slaves, since Prospero himself in
the play, observes Caliban as filth , something inhuman. (Vaughan and Vaughan). The relationship
between Prospero and Caliban could be Shakespeare`s way of describing the treatment of African
slaves by European feudalists. This marvellous literature piece is a testimony of slavery and its
roots. Even more, few years after Shakespeare died, the biggest export of African slaves took
place and racism was imprinted in people`s subconscious. Shakespeare describes the horrible
manner African slaves were treated and the aggressiveness by which they responded to that
treatment, since Caliban could be a victim or aggressor, since he tried to rape Miranda. As illiterate
and simple creature,

Socrates Real Person
Was Socrates Really a Real Person?
(A discussion of how Socrates was influential and intriguing using Plato s Republic) To learn
about the past, people in today s society often consult the internet or history books. To an extent,
all we know about the past is from what we have read or heard, so what is actually truth, and
what is just a captivating story. Scholars believe that some people from history are just made up
to portray ideals or tell a story with an important message. Socrates was a real man, but some
scholars believe that some of Socrates beliefs are truly just Plato, his student, writing things and
saying that Socrates believed in them. The world today has virtually no idea whether Socrates
believed everything that is recorded in Plato s Republic. Socrates, as portrayed in Plato s Republic,
is extremely intriguing because of the way he communicates with people with his sarcasm and use
of his Socratic method to teach. In Plato s Republic, Socrates is portrayed as a man who answers
everything in a way that avoids actually answering any questions. Socrates wants the people he is
talking with to think for themselves so he never gives a definitive answer when asked a question.
Instead of talking clearly, Socrates talks with thick sarcasm. Holding a conversation with someone
is a sort of game to Socrates, so almost everything he says is shrouded with sarcasm and double
meanings. Why does Socrates play with people s minds with sarcasm and intrigue? Socrates was

Socrates As A Prince
Socrates believes that a prince ought to be a citizen philosopher who sets the example for all
citizens through his/her character. Socrates posits to his friend Crito that the considerations you
[Crito] raise about expense and reputation and bringing up children... are the concerns of the
ordinary public, who think nothing of putting people to death, and would bring them back to life if
they could, with equal indifference to reason (Crito 87). This indifference to reason that Socrates
claims about the public amounts to an indictment of the leadership in Athens at the time. This
excerpt shows how the princes who ruled Athens, who acted unjustly, who created the institutional
climate of execution and fear (which Socrates is a victim of), transferred these ways of thinking
and acting to the people of Athens. Socrates then paints a picture instead of how a princeshould act,
and what their role should be by describing his own work: I busied myself all the time on your
behalf, going like a father or an elder brother to see each one of you privately, and urging you to
set your thoughts on goodness (The Apology 57b). This encompasses his role as a citizen
philosopher when he served in the Athenian government before the Spartans toppled the democratic
regime. He acted with the virtues of compassion, generosity, and faith, instead of the Machiavellian
virtues of prowess, deceit, and cruelty. In this matter, he was both a just leader and a philosopher,

Climate Plays an Important Environmental Influence on...
Climate plays an important environmental influence on our ecosystems, and climate changes
and the influences of it affect ecosystems in many ways. Ecosystems are already showing
negative impacts under current levels of climate change. One of the biggest issues that we are
facing nowadays is global warming. With the global warming and the rising of the temperature
of sea water, it has great impact on the species in the ocean. More species is facing extinction and
with the rising of temperature, it could force species in the ocean to migrate to higher latitudes
where temperatures are lower and easier to survive. In this research, I would like to know if global
warming would force fishmigrate to north or not. I will test the sea water temperature and the
survivability of zooplankton with different water temperature. By doing this research, it enables us
to understand the habit of species in the ocean and to avoid the extinction of certain species. This
research will also prove that global warming influences the whole ocean ecosystem and we should
recognize this issue and think what we can do to reduce and slow down the damage to the ocean.
As the temperature of water is rising, warm water fish are expanding into areas where was
previously inhabited by coldwater species and cause coldwater species losing their habitats. When
waters turning warmer due to global warming, the area that allow coldwater species to migrate is
reduced, and this might cause some species extinct.

The Chinese Culture And Chinese Values
Conflicts and tensions between Britain and China broke out during the Qing dynasty due to Britain
s ignorance towards Chinese culture and discrepancies between Chinese and Western values.
Reflected in Lord Macartney s account of his first meeting with Emperor Qianlong in 1792, the

The great thing about this career is the great amount of flexibility that comes with it. For

Iron Jawed Angels is a film that portrays the cruelty and brutality woman faced throughout the
Suffrage movement in the 1900s and the Women faced many issues, but some accepted inequality
while others waited patiently as asked to for years. Alice Paul and Lucy burns took a stand and
stroke up determination within women. Women who were a part of the movement were referred to
as suffragists who stood up to the law and asked for the right to vote. They faced many obstacles
such as verbal and physical attacks throughout the parade and peaceful protest. For instance,
throughout the parade men shouted to the women to get off the streets and called them names.

Promotions may not apply to women due to pregnancy. In breaking down barriers for women it
was stated that in the 1960s the job opportunities were limited to teacher, nurse, secretary.
Women were paid lower salaries and were denied opportunities to advance because employers
assumed that they would be soon get pregnant and quit. Society had the mentality that men
needed the opportunities to advance due to the fact that had families to support. The division
between NAWSA and NWP was portrayed in the film and it has relevance to the course because
it ties into what the article breaking down barriers for women revolved around. The older
women were not on board with the strategies and because of that asked Paul to raise the funds for
the parade she wanted to conduct. The split was based on tactics. The NAWSA led by Carrie
Chapman Catt wanted a state by state approach while Alice Paul, who led NWP had more
aggressive techniques. Picketing the white house was considered an aggressive approach to
NAWSA. Although they were aggressive, they were not violent. There was more determination
coming from the NWP. NAWSA waited patiently as asked by President Wilson. The President
ignored the issue and said it was because he had no knowledge nor was he familiar with the issue.
This movement is important because although it took years the goal was achieved. It was a long
battle and women were brave enough to put their lives on the line. Alice Paul was a determined

The Disease Of Common Diseases
Common diseases such as diabetes, cancer, autism, and age related macular degeneartion effect
substantial number of people. Understanding of genetic causes of these diseases will provide
fundamental insight for preventing, diagnosing, and eventually curing these diseases. In the past
few decades, more than a thousand of rare Mendelian diseases causative genes have been identified
by combination of linkage analysis with positional cloning (http://omim.org/). However, this
strategy does not have enough power as applied to common diseases, in which usually multiple
genetic and environmental risk factors contribute to disease development, and each risk factor only
account for a small fraction of the influences (Risch, 2000).
Thereafter, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In GWAS, a set of sequence variants are used as genetic markers to discover disease associated
regions across the human genome, and subsequently to detect causative variants within these
regions. As relying on the assumption that the disease risk variants will be in linkage
disequilibrium (LD) with one of the marker variants tested, this strategy provides the potential to
test any region and gene across the genome for disease association. To apply GWAS, it is necessary
to establish a human genetic variant catalog with characterization of their allele frequencies and LD
pattern among different populations.
The first human genome sequence variation map with 1.42 million SNPs was created by the
international SNP Map Working Group in 2000 (Sachidanandam et al., 2001). The SNPs localize
either within or close to exons, and the map only described the information on the nearby genes and
other genomic features of the SNPs without characterizing their allele frequencies and LD patterns.
It was applied for linkage study, but not enough for association studies
Until 2002, the international HapMap consortium launched a project with aim to construct the first
comprehensive human genetic variant database to facilitate investigation of the genetic risk factors
of human diseases, especially common diseases (2003). The HapMap project consists of three
phases lasting from 2002 2009. The

Process For Settling Labor Management Disputes Peacefully
Throughout the last century the process for settling labor management disputes peacefully is
known as collective bargaining, and was given statutory legitimacy in 1935 with the adoption of
the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) (Boniface Rashmi, 2013, Barrett, Cutcher Gershenfeld,
Kochan, Ferguson, 2007, Cutcher Gershenfeld Kochan, 2004, Cutcher Gershenfeld McKersie,
2009, Post, 2009). The NLRA gave legal authority for employees to organize and join a union for
the purposes of collectively bargaining with their employer. Collective bargaining is typically when
one party (labor) will negotiate with the other party (management) to address working conditions,
wages, and hours. However, negotiations will almost always address topics... Show more content on

Additionally, section 8(d) details the obligations of each side during the collective bargaining
process. These obligations are the most specific guidelines that the NLRA provides in terms of the
negotiation process. They require both parties to meet at reasonable times, bargain in good faith in
regards to wages, hours, and working conditions, and clarify that neither of the parties are
compelled to agree to a proposal or concessions. The stipulations of section 8(d) are important in
preserving the essence of collective bargaining, ensuring that it doesn t become a meaningless
exercise where only one party participates in earnest, or both parties go through the motions without
making serious proposals that address the other party s concerns. The NLRA never specifically
stated what type of bargaining strategy must be utilized during negotiations. Knowing this,
individual parties have the ability to determine and implement the strategy and process that will
best help them to achieve their goals during the collective bargaining process. The NLRA literature
outlines the various types of bargaining processes that the parties may utilize (and which will
ultimately affect the behavior of each party). The two main bargaining processes that are used are
distributive and integrative (Cutcher Gershenfeld Kochan, 2004). In integrative bargaining, which
is associated with interest based bargaining, each party seeks to find mutually beneficial

Should Schools Display The Ten Commandments
Why don t schools display the ten commandments To many people think that the ten
commandments are out of date, but the ten commandments could help students more than a code of
ethics. More and more schools are removing the ten commandments from their schools. Even
though separation of state and religion is a law, it could be offensive to non christian, and the ten
commandmentsare viewed as out of date. The ten commandments should still be displayed in
public government buildings and in schools. Just because some supreme court decided it illegal
to display the ten commandments in public buildings doesn t mean that he ruling can t be

Unfortunately the current methods of procuring human organs are not supplying the demand. A
new approach, the commercialization of human organs for transplantation is a possibility with the
potential to supply one hundred per cent of the demand for organs. There are however many

Such cases may be motivated by the desire to discharge a religious duty, to correct a wrong done

Once the practice of organ donation by the genetically related and also by strangers, based on
altruism, has been accepted as ethically sound the following components of organ removal
stand morally vindicated. Here are 2 of which they are talking about: (a) A person s expectation
to enjoy life with the help of organs belonging to others is valid, and(b) the breach of a donor s
bodily integrity and the consequent harms are permissible. Judged on these values a person s
act of severing his/her organ in order to liberate a fellow being from a terminal illness or to save
his/her life cannot be dubbed as immoral simply because the act is accompanied by a reasonable
material consideration. When a person sells an organ he or she acts both selfishly, in advantaging
him or herself, and altruistically, in contributing to a public good. The presence of considerations
is not a sufficient reason to transform a simple act into a sin. Otherwise, selling water to the thirsty
would be an equally big sin in fact rather a bigger one (Marino 2002).
Policies on organ transplantation reflect a unique social paternalism. Objections against the sale of
organs such as the dilution of altruism in society, the risk that

This leads us back to business, now it seems to me that you re suffering from swelling and
bruising around your phalanges. And you said that you are going through pain on your fingertips,
which are not very normal even though many people believe so because the bones that we have in
our hands are small, but a fractured finger is not a minor injury. The bones in a normal handline up
exactly with each other, which doesn t help the situation. So when you have a fractured finger bone,
it may cause your whole hand to be out of alignment and without treatment, your fractured finger
will probably stay stiff and painful, which seems like what you re dealing with unfortunately. So
from the symptoms that you re dealing with I am going to assume that you re dealing a fracture
in your phalanges, which is caused by several things. Our hand can be injured while working
with tools such as a saw, or fast moving objects that would hit your hand and or slamming our
hand in a door. So if you don t mind me asking, have you playing any sports such as basketball,

Individuals of Black, Hispanic, or Pacific Island nationality as well as those over age 65 are also
at increased risk. Obstructive Sleep Apnea can be very difficult to identify without help from
another individual. Even though those who suffer from the disorder will notice differences in
their sleep patterns, or the lack of ability to sleep, the development of OSA is a gradual process,
and many of the signs are only displayed when the individual is asleep. The signs and symptoms
indicative of OSA include daytime somnolence and fatigue, loud snoring, falling asleep during
normal daily activities, being awakened by shortness of breath and or gasping, insomnia, frequent
dry mouth or sore throat upon awakening, morning headaches, and sleep walking. Others around
the individual may observe the actual periods of breathing cessation or talking while sleeping.
Sleep apnea causes many additional health problems. Some of the physical problems it can cause
are hypertension, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, and edema (swelling) of the

Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen was passed on August 26, 1789, in France which
stated, The representatives of the French people, constituted as a National Assembly, and
considering that ignorance, neglect, or contempt of the rights of man are the sole causes of public

that by being liable at every moment to comparison with the aim of any and all political institutions
the acts of the legislative and executive powers may be the more fully respected; and so that by

  • 3. Literary Analysis Of Richard Wilbur s Boy At The Window A child s life is replete with exhilaration, merriment, and unalloyed thoughts. Moreover, where there is joy, there is sorrow. The assertions applied in Boy at the Window by Richard Wilbur connect the unusual bond intertwined between a young child and a snowman. The child s innocent mind contributes to the underlying concerns within his steadfast heart. Various literary elements are conveyed throughout the concise poem, which allude to the differentiating points of view perceived by the boyand the snowman. The young boy is introduced as emotionally unstable based on the harsh effects of Mother Nature. Accordingly, as the boy strengthens his feelings of grief, the snowman remains in a state of cruelty as he suffers outside in the gnashing of snow. The boy collects all of his feelings of sadness into his point of view, which guides the reader to generating a sense of pity for the child. The snowman gives the boy a God forsaken stare that essentially is the snowman s cry for help in the eyes of the boy. Despite the overwhelming heartache the boy is experiencing, the snowman appears to be in a more subtle state of mind. Contrasting points of view counteract to the opposing feelings on each side of the window s glass. The snowman subconsciously implies a sense of sympathy for the boy as he stays outside in the unbearable weather. His point of view is essential to developing the overall message of youthful innocence. As the snowman melts enough to make the child begin to cry, it is inferred that the snowman was not initiating the gloomy feelings of the child; he was nonetheless trying to prevent them. Initially, the divergent points of view were difficult to grasp, but within further evaluation it is clear to notice that the two different points of view illustrate the devastation within fear and heartfelt love for genuine people. Correspondingly, the connotation throughout the poem reveals the cruel weather conditions as well as the vivid reactions of the child. Dark , cold , and enormous moan contribute to the idea of how abrupt the snowstorm was outside of the window. Wilbur brilliantly states that the young boy was looking through a bright pane . Pane can also be inferred as the literal pain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Herzberg s Achievement Motivation Analysis According to Maslow, people will most often follow the order above. So to motivate the employees, managers should follow also this order, for example first looking at the physiological needs of their employees by making sure that they are able to sleep and to eat, then they should guarantee a safe place at the work, after they should create an ambiance at the work place by making a strong relationships between them, and of course they should respect the employees and give them the responsibilities, that will give the employees more confidence and strength. Herzberg s two factor theory: Herzberg s theory looked at people s needs at work by grouped them under two headings: 1.Hygiene factors (dissatisfiers): these are the things to do with work that people usually grumble about. This view sees inequalities of power and economic wealth as having their roots in the nature of the capitalist economic system. Conflict is therefore seen as inevitable and trade unions are a natural response of workers to their exploitation by capital. • 5. Evolution And Virality Of Memes Evolution and Virality of Memes How have memes evolved and why do they go viral? Memes did not originate from the internet contrary to popular belief, but have actually been appearing in culture for centuries. The main difference between internet memes and pre internet memes is the medium in which they go viral. A meme has two definitions; Dawkins definition, and internet memes. Charles Dawkins first coined the term meme in 1976 in his book The Selfish Gene, and was referring to cultural ideas, beliefs, fashion, practices, etc. In his book he came up with a theory that memes develops similar to how genes spread in organisms. Memes transmit from one mind to another through speech, writing, or any form of communication. Likewise genes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This square dates back to 79 AD in the ruins of Pompeii, where Jewish people inscribed it on doorways and various objects to protect from evil. Later, in about the Third to Fifth century, Christians adopted this practice as their own. The meme had spread and mutated to accommodate both cultures. Likewise, Sator Square has still survived to this day. However, it s not as popular as it once used to be nor used as much. Additionally Kilroy was Here is another meme that spread similarly to internet memes, and the sator square. James J. Kilroy created it during World War II. He inspected the bottoms of warships under construction, and after he had completed the inspection he would write in chalk Kilroy was Here on the bottom of them. The chalk consequently, would be erased too easily though, so he scrawled Kilroy was Here in crayon on the bottom of the ship instead. The image that s associated with this phrase is a bald headed man with a large nose peeking over a ledge however, predates the phrase. There s conflicting ideas to who drew it first, but most people think the British cartoonist George Edward Chatterton drew it in 1938. Somehow this image united with the phrase, and formed the Kilroy was Here meme. Subsequently this spawned a joke within the GIs of America. It became a challenge to place this phrase and picture in unusual places, and is said to be on Mt. Everest, the Statue of Liberty, and on the moon. Both of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Chapter 5 Network Layers Questions 3, 5, 8 Chapter 5: Questions 3,4, and 8 9/29/2012 3. What are the parts of TCP/IP and what do they do? Who is the primary user of TCP/IP? TCP/IP has two parts. TCP is the transport layer protocol that links the application layer to the network layer. It performs segmenting: breaking the data into smaller PDUs called segments, numbering them, ensuring each segment is reliably delivered, and putting them in the proper order at the destination. IP is the network layer protocol and performs addressing and routing. IP software is used at each of the intervening computers through which the message passes; it is IP that routes the message to the final destination. The TCP software needs to be active only at the sender and the receiver, because TCP ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Network layer addresses and application layer addresses go hand in hand, so the same standards group usually assigns both (e.g., www.indiana.edu at the application layer means 129.79.78.4 at the network layer). It is possible to have several application layer addresses for the same computer. 8. What is a subnet mask? A subnet allows the flow of a network traffic between hosts to be segregated based on a network configuration. The most recognizeable aspect of subnetting is the subnet mask. Like IP addresses , a subnet mask contains 4 bytes (32 bits)and is often written using the same dotted decimal notation. For example, a very common subnet mask in its binary representation 11111111 11111111 11111111 00000000 is typically shown in the equivalent, more readable form 255.255.255.0 A subnet mask neither works like an IP address, nor does it exist independently from them. Instead, subnet masks accompany an IP address and the two values work together. Applying the subnet mask to an IP address splits the address into two parts, an extended network address and a host address. For a subnet mask to be valid, its left most bits must be set to 1 . For example, 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 is an invalid subnet mask because the leftmost bit is set to 0 . Conversely, the rightmost bits in a valid subnet mask must ... Various studies (e.g. Figueiredo et al., 2008; LakuЕќiД‡ et al., 2012) proved that populations of the same species collected from different habitat have diverse essential oil composition. Because, the essential oils biosynthesis is under the influence of many abiotic and biotic factors. Formisano et al., (2015) stated the plant phytochemical composition is strongly influenced by the environment condition, and this is particularly true for medicinal herbs. Sesquiterpene hydrocarbon, oxygenated hydrocarbon, monoterpene hydrocarbon and oxygenated monoterpene constituted major parts of essential oil. The mounts of these compounds widely differed between the examined samples; therefore, the profile of essential oil compositions differed between the examined samples. Elizabethan music experienced a change in popularity from sacred to non religious music and the rise of instrumental music. Experienced musicians were hired by the Church of England, the wealthy, and rising middle class. Queen Elizabeth I greatly enjoyed music and played the lute and virginal herself. The negative effects of drug restriction policies include: negative health effects, increased drug effects, crimes at home and abroad, increased violence, misuse of assets and resources, violation of civil rights and excess on criminal and government systems. Heavy emphasis on upholding criminal restrictions on drugcreation and selling was also significantly influencing the productivity of illegal drug markets and increasing the development and operations of groups that carry out crimes, corrupt powers, and undermine the rules and laws in numerous countries. Bertram et al. states that drug related crimes is not necessarily the result of drug use but rather of the conditions under which people are constrained, by drug prohibition policies, to purchase and sell drugs. The sorts of unlawful acts and crimes related to drugs are, to a great extent, made by drug policies. Laws that make drug ownership illegal, create the largest amount of drug criminals. Different crimes, for example, violent acts and burglary, are created by underground markets (black markets) in which drugs are traded. (A discussion of how Socrates was influential and intriguing using Plato s Republic) To learn about the past, people in today s society often consult the internet or history books. To an extent, all we know about the past is from what we have read or heard, so what is actually truth, and what is just a captivating story. Scholars believe that some people from history are just made up to portray ideals or tell a story with an important message. Socrates was a real man, but some scholars believe that some of Socrates beliefs are truly just Plato, his student, writing things and saying that Socrates believed in them. The world today has virtually no idea whether Socrates believed everything that is recorded in Plato s Republic. Socrates, as portrayed in Plato s Republic, is extremely intriguing because of the way he communicates with people with his sarcasm and use of his Socratic method to teach. In Plato s Republic, Socrates is portrayed as a man who answers everything in a way that avoids actually answering any questions. Socrates wants the people he is talking with to think for themselves so he never gives a definitive answer when asked a question. Instead of talking clearly, Socrates talks with thick sarcasm. Holding a conversation with someone is a sort of game to Socrates, so almost everything he says is shrouded with sarcasm and double meanings. Eli Manning may not be deemed an elite quarterback by some, but he is actually one of the most unruffled and composed quarterbacks in the league at decisive, game time moments. Eli Manning was not always the tranquil, placid quarterback that we see today. He was once a young child who was not engrossed in football or sports at all. • 38. Socrates As A Prince Socrates believes that a prince ought to be a citizen philosopher who sets the example for all citizens through his/her character. Socrates posits to his friend Crito that the considerations you [Crito] raise about expense and reputation and bringing up children... are the concerns of the ordinary public, who think nothing of putting people to death, and would bring them back to life if they could, with equal indifference to reason (Crito 87). This indifference to reason that Socrates claims about the public amounts to an indictment of the leadership in Athens at the time. This excerpt shows how the princes who ruled Athens, who acted unjustly, who created the institutional climate of execution and fear (which Socrates is a victim of), transferred these ways of thinking and acting to the people of Athens. Socrates then paints a picture instead of how a princeshould act, and what their role should be by describing his own work: I busied myself all the time on your behalf, going like a father or an elder brother to see each one of you privately, and urging you to set your thoughts on goodness (The Apology 57b). This encompasses his role as a citizen philosopher when he served in the Athenian government before the Spartans toppled the democratic regime. Climate plays an important environmental influence on our ecosystems, and climate changes and the influences of it affect ecosystems in many ways. Ecosystems are already showing negative impacts under current levels of climate change. One of the biggest issues that we are facing nowadays is global warming. With the global warming and the rising of the temperature of sea water, it has great impact on the species in the ocean. More species is facing extinction and with the rising of temperature, it could force species in the ocean to migrate to higher latitudes where temperatures are lower and easier to survive. In this research, I would like to know if global warming would force fishmigrate to north or not. I will test the sea water temperature and the survivability of zooplankton with different water temperature. By doing this research, it enables us to understand the habit of species in the ocean and to avoid the extinction of certain species. This research will also prove that global warming influences the whole ocean ecosystem and we should recognize this issue and think what we can do to reduce and slow down the damage to the ocean. As the temperature of water is rising, warm water fish are expanding into areas where was previously inhabited by coldwater species and cause coldwater species losing their habitats. When waters turning warmer due to global warming, the area that allow coldwater species to migrate is reduced, and this might cause some species extinct. Some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In GWAS, a set of sequence variants are used as genetic markers to discover disease associated regions across the human genome, and subsequently to detect causative variants within these regions. As relying on the assumption that the disease risk variants will be in linkage disequilibrium (LD) with one of the marker variants tested, this strategy provides the potential to test any region and gene across the genome for disease association. To apply GWAS, it is necessary to establish a human genetic variant catalog with characterization of their allele frequencies and LD pattern among different populations. The first human genome sequence variation map with 1.42 million SNPs was created by the international SNP Map Working Group in 2000 (Sachidanandam et al., 2001). The SNPs localize either within or close to exons, and the map only described the information on the nearby genes and other genomic features of the SNPs without characterizing their allele frequencies and LD patterns.
