In 1953, Scientists James Watson And Francis Crick Revealed
In 1953, scientists James Watson and Francis Crick revealed the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid
(DNA): the double helix. Through this groundbreaking revelation, many scientists are now able to edit
and alter genes in foods such as tomatoes, milk, and corn. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
should be banned in the United States because of their environmental, social, and economical
consequences.
GMOs should be banned because of their harsh impact on the environment. They are causing
biodiversity loss, affecting organic agriculture, and inhibiting sustainable agriculture.
In his book, Beyond Evolution: The Genetically Altered Future of Plants, Animals, the Earth and
Humans, Bioethicist Dr. Michael W. Fox states, Some costs and ... Show more content on

Also, attempts to uniform crops, or monoculture, will fuel genetic diversity loss. Genetic diversity is
what helps crops adapt to weather and survive diseases; without genetic diversity, farmers will resort
to using chemicals on their crops from those same companies that weakened their crops (Fox 83).
Another example of biodiversity loss is eutrophication, the enrichment of ecosystems with chemicals.
Bt itself is a built in insecticide that is manufactured with more chemicals than traditional insecticides.
It is first introduced into the plant and eventually spreads its harmful toxins into humans and animals.
What is most alarming is the transmission of this detrimental poison into marine life. Oyster
populations in the Chesapeake Bay, for example, have declined by 96 percent due to eutrophication
from Bt (Hewitt). This is alarming because 60 percent of the world s population relies on 40 percent of
marine life as a source of food (Hewitt). The genetic modification of Bt crops also has an adverse
effect on terrestrial life. This is further illustrated by a decrease in the number of predatory birds
during the 1960 s and 1970 s from insecticide; more specifically, bald eagles have declined by at least
6 percent from its usage (Hewitt).
GMOs advocates are advising the idea of including genetically altered organisms into organic
farming. These advocates believe without the help of genetically engineered seeds the benefits of
organic farming will likely remain small

Essay about Condoms and the Illusion of Safe Sex
History repeats itself. Even today different issues arise that are quite similar if one takes the time to
notice. Early in the twentieth century, smoking cigarettes became popular in America ( The #1
Preventable 1). The average person had little awareness of the negative health effects of smoking other
than perhaps throat irritation and coughing. In the 1920s, companies began claiming their brand of
cigarettes was physician tested and approved ( Cigarettes were once 2). With this in mind, the general
public believed that smoking was not harmful at all. It was not until 1957 that a link was established
between lung cancer and smoking ( 1957: Smoking causes 1). More negative effects would be
discovered later. Despite this, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
...The answer to both questions is almost certainly: More likely. The free pads would encourage
children to take up the game, and once they were in the habit of playing it, they would often do so
without going to the trouble of strapping on their pads.
Because condoms are available, students will be more likely to use them. They hear lectures on the
importance of using condoms in state required sexual education classes. They see the dispensers every
time they walk into the bathrooms. This makes the idea of sex ever present in their daily environment.
So students will be more likely to choose to engage in safe sex . After that, they may start to
underestimate the risk and build up the feeling of invincibility that is commonly felt among teenagers.
However, even if they were to continue using condoms, safe sex is truly nothing more than an illusion.
There are many physical risks from sexual intercourse that condoms do not protect against. Most
people know about these risks acquiring sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), some of which are
incurable or life threatening. However, the general public exaggerates and upholds the belief that
using a condom can effectively protect against the diseases. Dr. Teresa Crenshaw would disagree. He
was once a president of the American Association of Sex Educators and is currently a member in the
U.S. Presidential AIDS Commission. He once wrote, Saying that the use of condoms is safe sex is in

Paracas Candelabra Research Paper
Around 200 BC, according to carbon dated pottery found on the Paracas Peninsula at Pisco Bay in
Peru, a mysterious image, called the Paracas Candelabra or Candelabra of the Andes, was made in the
sand surrounded by large stones. It is 600 feet tall, 2 feet deep and resembles the image of candelabra.
The symbol can be seen as far as 12 miles out to sea. There are many rumors as to what this symbol
represented whether it be religious, a sailing navigation tool, a huge seismograph or even that it could
be referencing a certain hallucinogenic plant. The first suggestion of what the Paracas Candelabra
could be was related to religious ideas. In South America, a god named Viracocha, who was the
creator god in Incan mythology and who was highly worshipped. The people who worshipped the god
believe the image to be that of the lightening rod or staff carried by Viracocha. The also believed that
Viracocha would help people during times of trouble and the people of Paracas created the image to
help him find his way to them. Another religious idea came about by the Conquistadors who believed
that the image was actually representing the Holy Trinity. They took this symbol to be a sign that they
should continue their quest to Christianize any of the locals that they could find. ... Show more content

hand accounts that it was just a place for sailors to rest during layovers and over the years, the sailors
could have carved the image into the sand. But some are still skeptical as to why that certain image

Summary Of Eat More Meat And Save The World By George Savory
As humanity advances further into the 21st century, climate change continues to serve as a major
obstacle in ensuring a secure world with the immediate and catastrophic dangers it presents. Major
scientific organizations and governments over the years have created various programs to tackle this
issue: creating carbon emission quotas, investing in green energy and even encouraging citizens to eat
less meat and dairy. However, these programs need a lot of effort, funds, and cooperation to be
successful and result in a drastic improvement. It is of little surprise that Allan Savory s method of
holistic management has gained tremendous popularity, as shown by the fact that his TED talk has two
million views. Savory claims that carbon emissions can be reduced by using more herd animals to
transform desert areas into lush environments. In a subject as critical as climate change, such an
extraordinary idea needs to be able to stand strong against criticism, and George Monbiot, an ardent
environmentalist, scrutinizes holistic management in his article Eat More Meat and Save the World:
The Latest Implausible Farming Miracle . In the article, the rhetor Monbiot portrays holistic
management as an improbable, unscientific idea that knowledgeable environmentalists should
disregard with a scholarly and impartial tone that indicates his exigence, logos in the form of peer
reviewed studies and their relevance, and ethos via a visualization of Savory s inability to defend his

How My Husband And Step Mother s Culture Changed Within...
Have you ever wondered why someone act or feels the way they do? Many combined variables
develops the way a person acts and feels. These variables come from learning, watching and
experiencing different aspects of life. Ultimately, these experiences shape your behaviors and beliefs
creating your culture. What happens when you go to another country, state, city or neighborhood? Do
you act and behave like the people in these places? In the broad sense everyone acts the same in the
regards to surviving; however, the details of how they live can be very different. When you go to a
place outside you own culture, you will experience a change in culture. In this anthropology research,
I will take an ethnologist approach to how my husband and step mother s culture has changed within
the American society. I will give examples of how these cultures are similar and different in regards to
standard of living, education and employment opportunities. I will even discuss realities and problems
that exit. All together I will give you a look at what it is like to experience a culture change from
Mexico to America and the Philippines to America. My Husband is from a small village called El
Carrizal, Mexico. The language is Spanish. Mexico is different in the cities than in the country. The
cities have different living standards, work opportunities and college. I will be referring to my
husband s situation, coming from a small town perspective. Living is a small town means there are no

Compare And Contrast Classical Conditioning And...
3. To test which rats had received Pavlovian and which, instrumental conditioning would be to
perform extinction. Extinction involves repeatedly presenting the conditioned stimulus without the
unconditioned stimulus. Extinction that occurs in classical conditioning happens when a conditioned
stimulus is no longer paired with an unconditioned stimulus. Therefore, for one group, you would
remove the tone. In operant conditioning, the extinction can occur if the trained behavior is no longer
reinforced. Thus, for another group, extinguish tone and food. By doing this, I would see that the
classically conditioned rat s behavior would decline quicker than the operant conditioned rats. Also,
another way to test this is to look at the delay in behaviors. In classically conditioned rats, it uses short
delay conditioning in which the conditioned stimulus begins a second or so before the unconditioned
stimulus. Thus, if you used long delay conditioning, the classically conditioned rats behavior of
turning around to receive the food would slowly decrease. This is because the classically conditioned
rats are used to the short delay and when the long delay is used the behavior will slowly decrease. In
classically conditioned rats, you would see that the timing of the conditioned response will slowly
decrease. With the operant conditioned rats, you would see that their responses will not decrease as
quickly as the classically conditioned rats. This is because the operant conditioned rats

Games where the Women s rights movement started to arise. When looking at the statistics above the
picture we are shown that only two percent of all competitors of the Olympic Games were women.
The document is trying to show that more women should be able to be in the Olympic Games and or
be nominated to be in the Olympics. This is even further shown as the picture shows a lone women
symbolizing a stand for women as she is the only archer we are able to see. Next, we are given
Document 8 which shows a woman s statement while competing in the Olympic Games were women

show that even though she is a women, she has no problem with trying to show that women can be
just as good as men with that being her main point she wanted to get across. She considers herself a
role model for all women to follow and to stand up for themselves. These Documents show the idea of

Let The Punishment Fit The Crime
I grew up in a very strict, religious household and though I was never baptized in the religion
I was a practicing Jehovah s Witness till about the age of 25. I do still occasionally go to their
meetings but more importantly I still believe the fundamentals of what they teach and Hell is not one
of those fundamentals. Jehovah s Witness s believe that when you die that your body and soul returns
to the earth. In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it
you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return (New World Translation, Gen. 3.19).
Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor
knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, where you are going (New World Translation, Ec. 9.10). The
Witness s teach death is the punishment for sin, not hell. So I found this topic of Hell, it s sinners and
their punishments for our Critical Response paper what peaked my interest the most. Dante s Inferno
The Divine Comedy although it is divine by literary standards there is nothing comedic about it.
Dante s journey through hell is an eye opening and terrifying one for him as he searches to find
Jehovah s grace and love again and release his self of sin. Through his journey he encounters the

The Neo Pi R, By Paul T. Costa Jr.
The NEO PI R is a standard questionnaire that is a general measure of personality based upon the five
factor model of personality (Piedmont, 2001; PAR, n.d). It systematically measures emotional,
interpersonal, experiential, attitudinal, and motivational styles, which is used as a resource for a wide
variety of professionals (Costa McCrae, 1992; PAR, n.d). it measures these styles by using the five
domains of personality (Neuroticism, Extraversion Openness, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness)
and the six facets for each (PAR, n.d). General Information Test Background and Costs The NEO PI R

Analyzing The Gymnastics Scoring System Essay
For this research paper, I will be researching the gymnastics scoring system, the controversy that the
scoring has created over time, and the general history of the sport. Gymnastics started out as just an
exercise program of different moves in Greece. The modernization of gymnastics began in the late
1700s, its been around for about 2,000 years. This is one of the oldest forms of exercise in the world.
The scores are completely different not only because the system changed, but because the level of
difficulty was also higher. In the sport of gymnastics the perfect 10 scoring system was changed the
most.
In the very beginning, when gymnastics became a competitive sport the scoring system was based on
the perfect 10 and the Code of Points. The Code of Points is the gymnastics rule book. The Olympic
games in 1976 took place in Montreal. That year the first perfect 10 was awarded. The perfect 10 was
a representation of a flawless routine.
In the 1800s gymnastics was first introduced to the United States by the military. Men s gymnastics
Olympic competition first started in 1896 in Athens, Greece. Men s gymnastics had far more
exercises, including the parallel bars, horizontal bar, pommel horse, vault, and rings.
During the 1900s women finally got to participate in the Olympics. The competition for women s
Olympic gymnastics first began in 1936 in Berlin, Germany. The exercises done were, bars, beam,
floor, and vault. The first world championship took place in 1903.

Symbolism In When Wise Blood
Symbols are extremely important in any novel, as they give characters a deeper understanding as we
read. When a novel is created into a movie, some symbols are not shown or not expressed as much as
they were in the book. This can cause for the characters in the movie to seem less complete than as
they were in the novel. When Wise Blood was made into a movie the director, John Huston, left out,
or did not express some key symbols such as Haze s mother s glasses and the bible, the white hat, and
the car. John Huston s lack of emphasis on the symbols of Haze s mother s glasses and the Bible, the
white hat, and the car caused for Haze to be not completely understood in the movie as he was in the
novel.
The lack of Haze s mother s glasses and the Bible left a gap in Haze that can help us better understand
him in the movie. Haze s mother s glasses and the Bible were a symbol of home for Haze. Darby
Adams writes, The only things from Eastrod he took into the army with him were a black Bible and a
pair of silver rimmed spectacles that had belonged to his mother. These symbols also show religion for

just a car, but Haze continues to talk about how the Essex is still a good car. After Haze loses his car in

depressed state of mind. The symbol for independence and freedom in the novel was not expressed the

Persuasive Essay On Defense Spending
Something that I vehemently disagree on with both political parties is defense spending. In their
platforms, both parties seem to favor an increase in funding, even if it is a bit more discretely worded
under the Democratic Party s platform. In my view, we allocate too much of our country s resources to
the military, and neglect many of its other needs in doing so. The United States military is by far and
away the most puissant armed organization in the world. Here are some figures that help illustrate just
how pragmatic that last statement is. In the 2015 fiscal year we spent 598 billion dollars on the
military; that s over fifty percent of the federal government s discretionary spending.(1) In 2016, only
19 of 194 nations had a higher GDP than America s defense budget; that means that the U.S. spends
more money per year on its military than the total value of all goods produced and services provided
in a country in a year in 90 percent of the world s nations.(2) According to 2016 statistics the U.S.
spends more on its defense than the next eight countries combined.(3) That same year, China was
second with a 215 billion dollar defense budget and Russia was third at approximately 69 billion.
Donald Trump s audacious administration is actually proposing a budget for 2018 that increases
military spending by 54 billion dollars!(4) To make this feasible massive cuts have to be made to the
detriment of bureaucratic organizations such as: the department of education, the EPA, department of
labor, housing and urban development department. To give that number a frame of reference, the
estimated cost of providing tuition free public universities under the 2016 Sanders plan is
approximately 75 billion dollars.(5) We already have nearly eight hundred military bases around the
world, do we really need to allocate more resources to this department in which we already have the
ability to act unilaterally on a global scale with impunity?(6) Or are there other departments in our
society that could benefit more from an influx in funding?
I disagree with the egregiously high military budget for several reasons. Not only do I feel that other
pivotal areas of our society are lacking support, but I also disagree

Farm Girl
Summary of Farm Girl
Anderson Jude
ENG 115 Professor Chris Swindell
Strayer University
October 23rd, 2013
The short story Farm Girl is an in depth look at life through the eyes of a young girl growing up with
her family on a farm. Throughout this non fiction story the author Jessica Hemauer, does an amazing
job of describing her surroundings to pull the reader in and make them feel like they are there with
her. She begins as a younger girl describing how difficult it is for a child to awake from a deep
slumber, and immediately get to work doing jobs some grown men would cringe at. Cleaning out
various huts and pens and laying down fresh straw are part of our daily duties (Hemauer, 2011 p. 84).
She continues by explaining how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She uses her years of experience from working on the farm to her advantage, and is finally able to do
all the things she has always thought to be impossible. I join the homecoming club, audition for
musicals and plays, serve as the president of the student council as well as president of my class
(Hemauer, 2011 p. 86). Before ending the story she tells the reader how all of her activities have not
made her feel any less different then she did before. However, she comes to the realization that if it
had not been for all of those years of hard work on the farm, then she would not be able to manage her
time as well as she does to be able to participate in all those activities, and at the same time hold down
a job, and perform better than others in the work place (Hemauer, 2011).
The entire story I felt as if I was there on the farm with the young girl. I was drawn to read it more
than once not because it was difficult to understand, but because the descriptions were so vivid I did
not want to overlook anything. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the short story Farm Girl, and would
recommend it to anyone that is looking for an interesting story to read.

Implementing Anti Discriminatory Practice Within Health...
M3 discuss difficulties that may arise when implementing anti discriminatory practice in health and
social care settings. There are many difficulties that may arise when implementing anti discriminatory
practice in health and social care settings such as; * The development of resentment culture. This is
when an individual who has been discriminated against builds a hostility towards the individuals who
discriminated against them, so that when that individual has children they pass these views to them,
the child will then grow up believing this view unless shown otherwise and will continue to believe
this view and will pass it to their offspring therefore making hard for anti discriminatory practices to
be implemented as because of the experience this individual has had it will be hard to show them that
things have changed. * Individuals not understanding the importance of promoting and implementing
of anti discriminatory practice. If an individual does not see why the practices need to be put in place
and are an employee of a health and social care provider they might cause trouble by refusing to
follow them, which can make service users who needs the practices lose self worth. * Difference in
value systems and beliefs Everyone has different values and beliefs so may refuse to follow certain
anti discriminatory practices because of these values or beliefs which can cause problems for health
and social provisions which this individual works for the provider. * Internal

The Labor Of Migrant And Seasonal Farmworkers
Many economically important field crops in the United States depends on the labor of migrant and

immigrants. Of course many of these immigrants are from different places in the world; but the largest
population is from Latin America. Over half of the immigrant population is from Latin America and
almost 40% entered the US in the past decade (Pransky, 2002). Recently many of these immigrate live

Crank Book Report
The book Crank sure of course does have a lot of poor judgement in it, but I think it could be a great
book for a kid around my age to sit down and read. When I first picked up the book and started to read
to read it I never thought I would end on the mind frame that I did. It for sure is a long book, and does
contain some graphic material, but it is for sure worth reading in my opinion, and I think you should
definitely keep this book, for all you know, it could be the best book a kid has ever picked up and
read, I know it was for me.
One of the main reasons I m sure you want to ban this book is because of the profanity used in it. Yes,
there is a lot of foul language use in this book, but when you think about it kids are used to hearing
people cuss, and reading it is a lot less worse than hearing them or saying them in my opinion. The
cuss words add a lot of character to the book to be honest, it sets the mood a lot of times. It would not
be fair for someones who is older and more mature to not be able to read it because some little kid can
t be serious about it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a lot of details in this book that I really enjoyed reading, and i think others would too. A big
thing that this book tackled was drug addiction, and I think that is something that a lot of times gets
overlooked, and it most certainly shouldn t. Reading this book actually helped me realize that I never
want to pick up drugs in my life, and I think that someone else could have that mind set after just
reading a little bit of this book! Banning people from real world situations just is not practical, and no
where near fair, because somewhere out there is a kid eager to learn and absorb this kind of
knowledge, but every day someone gets offended and takes away our privilege to learn something
value and useful in our lives now AND

Tom Sawyer America s Worst Idol A child s role model really does determine where they go in life. A
good role model goes to school, pays attention, does not distract others, and doesn t cause trouble.
Also they don t take shortcuts and take the long way to reach their goals. In the novel Tom Sawyer, by
Mark Twain, Tom is not a good role model because he is always causing trouble and is always tricking
people into things. First, Tom is not a good role model because he is always causing trouble. For

because he is tricking them into thinking that he had a perfect dream. Also this affected everyone who
was listening and made it worse for them when they realized he was lying. Most of the time, a good
role model would just tell them that he came inside to get food, and would be coming back later.
Obviously, Tom isn t the best role model because he is always tricking people into doing things.
During the book Tom has gotten into trouble tons of times. He also tries to get others into it too. A

Enhancing a cloud based network could mean to make the network faster, safer, efficient, cost
effective and user friendly. The aim of this report is to discuss the methods and techniques of trying to
improve a cloud based network and what this could mean. The outcome of the project being
implemented will be to simulate a cloud based campus network with optimum performance which
then reflects its results in charts and graphs making comparisons with one another. A variety of aspects
will be explored prior to simulating the network such as current technologies, new protocols, servers,
data centres, testing and availability. Furthermore material on the software Opnet also known as
Riverbed will be provided because this will be used to simulate the final product. The purpose of the
project is to provide an insight into current matters which is then followed by creating a cloud based
network that is reliable, efficient, cost friendly and safe to use for a university campus to utilise.
Review of Literature Performance Problems How They are Measured The literature within this report
has been gathered using a variety of sources such as websites, academic journals, eBooks and reports.

The Effectiveness of Deep-Breathing Exercises After...
The purpose of this evidence based nursing practice paper is to discuss the effectiveness of deep
breathing exercises in the care of a patient who is recently postoperative a coronary artery bypass graft
surgery (CABG). It will also critique two professional research studies on this topic, and will answer
three essential questions about each study. What are the results of the study? Are the results of the
study valid? How are the findings clinically relevant to this patient? The patient, who will be referred
to as Mr. Doe throughout this paper, is a 58 year old male with coronary artery disease. His medical
history includes angina, shortness of breath, diabetes type II, as well as hypercholesterolemia. He was
scheduled for a CABG ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two studies that will be critiqued are over the effectiveness of deep breathing exercises in
reducing postoperative pulmonary complications after CABG surgery. Study #1 showed that patients
performing deep breathing exercises after CABG surgery had significantly smaller atelectatic areas
and better pulmonary function on the fourth postoperative day compared to a control group
performing no exercises, (Westerdahl, Lindmark, Eriksson, Friberg, Hedenstierna, Tenling, 2005). .
This study began with 115 patients that were all undergoing CABG surgery at a university hospital
and were randomized to a deep breathing group that performed deep breathing exercises
postoperatively and to a control group that performed no breathing exercises, (Westerdahl, Lindmark,
Eriksson, Friberg, Hedenstierna, Tenling, 2005). Of the 115 patients in study #1, 23 were excluded for
various reasons, leaving a total of 90 patients participating. This study was a well controlled
randomized controlled trial conducted at one site with fewer than 100 patients, and according to this
information, the study is valid, and the use of deep breathing exercises in reducing pulmonary
complications postoperatively is likely to be effective. According to this study, Mr. Doe would benefit
from performing deep breathing exercises because he is a postoperative CABG patient, and the study
showed that performing these improved pulmonary

Batman High Angles
In the film The Dark Knight Rises, Batman states that he is whatever Gotham needs him to be. He can
either be a hero or an outlaw to the people of his city. Batman is a tortured soul and is very aware that
it is not right to uphold the law by breaking it. He is not convinced that his violence is justified by
locking up the villains.
Real world people are more like Batman in the sense that the right thing to do is obvious but
sometimes not. One often judges situations for the best result and sometimes the answer collides with
their morals. Nobody is completely good or bad. The most unassuming people can go through with
appalling acts if placed in the wrong situation, or react with selflessness and kindness. Batman can be
seen as morally ambiguous. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The darkness sets the mood of the film. Batman s iconic suit was created by Lucius Fox, which
contains armor for protection. His cowl acts as a protective helmet and he has retractive blades on his
gauntlets. The bat emblem on his chest is considerably smaller than those used in previous films and
there is a concealed cape which sits near his shoulder blades, helping him glide through the city
effortlessly. His cowl allows him to spy on his surroundings with infrared vision, ultraviolet vision and
night vision, and one ear of his cowl contains a device which allows him to use echolocation to
triangulate objects or people via cell phones. He carries gadgets such as the Batarang and grapple gun
in his utility belt. Special effects such as the explosions, the Batmobile colliding with the rubbish truck
and Batman jumping off a building and gliding through the city give the film a more realistic

Isolation In A Rose For Emily And Big Two Hearted River
In American literature, no two authors other than William Faulkner and Ernest Hemingway effected
the literary scene more since Mark Twain. Both Hemingway and Faulkner were Nobel Prize, Pulitzer
Prize winners, and gammerd the world s affection. Faulkner s gem of a story, A Rose for Emily and
Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River both deal with the theme of isolation, but have different internal
mechanisms that advance the story. Faulkner and his use of eloquent word choice, as well as a
profound influence of Southern local color gives the effect of a Michelangelo s painting where detail
is so prevalent, the reader has a myriad of options on what individual details to value. He paints a

Treatments no longer costing an arm and a leg During open heart surgery, a machine assumes control
of lung function and pumping the blood around the patient s body. Intraoperative brain mapping,
sometimes called awake brain surgery, is a procedure used to remove brain tumours without damaging
the brain, and as the name suggests, the patient is sedated but very much awake. Procedures such as
these are nothing short of remarkable, and as science and medicine continue to develop, conditions
which would have meant certain death can now be treated with relative ease. Although we can save
lives this sometimes comes at a cost, and in the case of diabetes and some cancers, limb amputation is
a necessary compromise; but that could be about to change. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The research that is being conducted focuses largely on the electrical and chemical interactions and
relationships within organisms. The magnitude of the negative charges of cells are identified with an
in vivo dye which causes more negative areas to glow more brightly. What has been found is that
more negative areas in frogs essentially plot where certain features, in one case the eyes, are going to
develop. By manipulating an area on the tail slightly more negative, the frog developed with an eye on
its tail. Such a small alteration had such a significant outcome on the frog, which is an indication of
how powerful this research is. Chemical modification was also found to strongly influence the
developing embryos when a frog embryo was treated with Prilosec, a stomach acid relief drug, which
caused craniofacial defects as well as causing the organs to develop on opposite sides of the body.
Prilosec interfered with the movement of the ion set, potassium and hydrogen, which was enough to
impact patterning in the developing frog, resulting in defects. Research in the field has also been
applied to try and improve severed spinal cords. In these tests, the movement of nerves was controlled
by introducing a charge difference across the break in the spine. This caused nerves to move towards
the charge and from here they were able to heal. Although it was found that the nerves couldn t move
past the scar tissue, the experiment indicated that these techniques have to potential to be effectively
applied to developed individuals, which could mean a chance at recovery for those living with spinal

Argumentative Essay On Climate Change
Climate change is the global issue of a rising temperature due to human activity. As a result of the
rising temperature the polar icebergs are melting. This is putting more water into the ocean and
causing sea levels to rise. Because of the higher sea levels many coastal communities are flooding.
With Massachusetts being a coastal state this could majorly affect us. Given with the current trends of
one eighth of an inch per year (NOAA), a good portion of Massachusetts could be flooded soon. But
how soon? And how will it progress over time? This is what we hope to find out with our project.
(Kique Ruiz)
Paragraph 1: According to Merriam Webster dictionary, climate change is the changes in earth s
weather patterns. Climate change, however, has come to be known as the warming of the earth s
climate due to Co2. Climate change is rather controversial with the question that is the recent spike in
temperature and Co2 related, and is this spike caused by humans? Many studies have been done by a
multitude of organizations. The majority of these studies all point to one thing. According to skeptical
science, With 60 70 meters of global sea level locked up... Many now seem to converge on 1 2 meters
of sea level rise by 2100 (2017) Also, according to NASA, the global Co2 in the atmosphere is rising
at about 2 parts per million per year (NASA 2017). The sea level is rising at the same time that Co2
levels and global temperature is rising. This has all started around when humans

Essay on I Must Write
I feel like giving up. Stop trying too hard because the result will always be the same despite of the
effort I put in. I have tried to wheedle myself believing that I can do better, but so far there is no
change in the outcome. Time is running out and hopes of making a change are dying and I am tempted
to simply throw in the towel, and succumb to the defeat. It feels like am trying to catch the wind. Why
is this so hard difficult for me? All I want is to make a step in English. To prove that I too can write a
good paper. To relish writing the English papers, but it has proven to be extremely difficult. I wonder
why it is the only subject that am not doing well or advancing. It is hard to concede that I cannot make

Now I m forced to plan the little time remaining and finish with a remark to prove to myself that I can
excel in English just as I do in other subjects. Improvements start today. I believe that my biggest
problem is that I do not do much practice in writing. All my papers have no new ideas, because I do
not read my notes, and I never make use of my extra time to practise the art of writing; even if it is just
for the fun of writing. Since there are only two papers left. I will start with the one that is needed first,
try to limit my time on this paper, evaluate it myself, then find someone else to go through it before
handing it to the teacher. I am good at editing rather than doing the actual writing; so I must stop the
editing and make sure the paper is complete first, and editing will be the last thing I do. I might not
like writing because it demands more creativity, but I now know that the more I write, the more
creative I become. I realize this is the time to make a sacrifice, that I should have made before, but
because of my ignorance did not. I deceived myself thinking that i would remember the lecture notes
without putting them in ink and paper. I now figured that to keep a record of my ideas I must be
consistent in writing. I have drained myself by not keeping a journal to help keep my thoughts in
writing and develop new better ideas. Although it seems a little too late, better late than never, and
now I should do it mostly for my

Technology In Richard Louv s Last Child In The Woods
Not too long ago, people relied on nature for everything. They used it for their bare necessities and
even for their entertainment. But in the recent years, the number of new technologies has been
increasing at a rapid rate. With smartphones and other portable devices, people live in a world
surrounded by technology and other materialistic objects. Children in the newer generations are being
directly introduced into a world full of technology by their parents without the chance to see what
excitement nature has to offer. In Richard Louv s passage Last Child in the Woods he argues that
people of the newer generations are being separated from nature by technology. Through the use of
examples, personal pronouns, personal anecdotes, and rhetorical questions, Louv explains how people
forget to appreciate nature by manipulating it. With newer technologies, things that people thought
only nature could control are now being manipulated by humans. Louv explains how researchers are
experimenting with a genetic technology through which they can choose the colors that appear on
butterfly wings (Louv 2 4). This example of how people can manipulate nature is included in Louv s
essay because it opens people s eyes to the fact that natural phenomena will not remain solely natural
for long. The things that were once untouched by humans are becoming contaminated. Additionally,
this example specifically states how people are able to choose how they want nature to look. A
butterfly is

The Sixth Decade By Jonathan Schell
GS 435 Book Review
The Seventh Decade by Jonathan Schell
By: Jordan Petruska
Professor Tom Deligiannis
Friday October 9, 2015
The nuclear bomb is an interesting phenomenon that has captured the fascination of scholars,
academics, politicians, and the media to bring curiosity and fear together. The first and only use of
nuclear weapons occurred in 1945 during the Second World War, wiping out over 200,000 Japanese
civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Nuclear bombs, were now viewed as the number one threat that
could potentially destroy our planet and the human race. Since 1945 nuclear weapons have since been
a strong threat that has imposed a psychological anxiety for world leaders as this threat has expanded
to fifty countries with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third and final proposal is taking greater action on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty to confirm
all nations are on the same playing field to dismantle nuclear weaponry. I plan on providing updated
analysis in these issues as well. The Seventh Decade was written in 2007 and a lot has gone on since
then in regards to nuclear activity and I plan on making it clear to the reader where the U.S. and the
rest of the world stands.
It has been seventy years since the last military nuclear bomb was successfully executed and many of
us feel that nuclear threats have decedent or vanished, but Schell informs us that they are full of life.
The Seventh Decade examines how the nuclear bomb has continued to cast a dark shadow over global
politics and has advocated for the non proliferation of nuclear weapons. The book takes on a robust
roadmap to a nuclear bomb free world that looks at the historical dark uncertainties of the Cold War,
where the odds of a nuclear attack were extremely high during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis to the
spread of nuclear knowledge and technology in the 1990s to unstable nations like Iraq and Pakistan,
increasing the risk and fear of a nuclear war. Schell brings up some important foundational questions
like what can be done? Where are we heading? Why has the nuclear threat been revived? The Seventh
Decade calls into question for a global debate to end nuclear

Imperialism In Uganda
During the imperialism in Africa, a lot of different events happened in Uganda. The imperialism had
effects on the country, some of the effects benefited the country, and some did not. Mostly, it did not
benefit the country. The British did most things to only benefit themselves, and did not care about
what happened to the citizens of Uganda. The British only wanted power over the country, and to
make a profit. Before the imperialism, Uganda was a prosperous country. They were one of the most
powerful and the largest kingdoms in Africa. was heralded for its royal history and development as a
center of learning and culture...it descended into chaos and destruction with the rise to power of a
despotic military leader...begun to reestablish itself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also had truces now with other organizations, like the UNFR. There was a organization called
the Lord s Resistance Army and they would attack the country. They kidnapped children and caused
more people to flee. They killed many people in Uganda to rebel. Uganda tried to contact them to stop
this rebelling, but they did not. Uganda tried to meet up with the leader of the group, but they did not
show up. They tried to make peace and come to an agreement to stop, but they did not want to. The
leader of the Lord s Resistance Army, Joseph Kony, again fails to turn up for the signing of a peace
agreement ( Uganda Profile Timeline ). Uganda is putting a lot of effort into trying to settle things
with the LRA, but the LRA does not want to settle any of their disputes. Uganda wants everything to
be mostly peaceful again, but they cannot do that without the LRA stopping their unnecessary attacks
against Uganda. The LRA and Ugandans end up signing a truce after having several peace talks,
causing a ceasefire. British imperialism did many things for the Ugandans. It did both good, and bad,
but the British did not do much to help them. The country was stable before the British came, but
after, they were not doing that well. Uganda did become stable eventually after the British. They
helped them obtain more resources and ways of transportation, but they took over their government.
The British only cared about what was good for themselves and were greedy. They only wanted power
and control over the country, they did not have many means to help them out, without mostly

by Eric M. Zeman During the first quarter of 2010 Motorola has announce its latest strategic plan
according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, Motorola has paused efforts to sell its home and
networks mobility unit, which makes cable boxes and other gear. Two reasons factor into Motorola s
thinking, say the Journal s sources. The first is that handset sales have increased in recent months (due
to the popularity of devices such as the Droid), and that has the company believing that it might
survive as one entity. The other reason is that the bids for the unit have been lower than Motorola
hoped. Motorola believed it could fetch between $4 and $5 billion for the set top box division, but has
seen bids in the $3 to $4 billion range. The next round of bids are due in mid February, but it is unclear
if Motorola will accept them. Motorola s board is planning to meet to discuss how to proceed. I feel if
the market research and sales indicate its time to end the business of cable box manufacturing then I

  • 2. In 1953, Scientists James Watson And Francis Crick Revealed In 1953, scientists James Watson and Francis Crick revealed the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA): the double helix. Through this groundbreaking revelation, many scientists are now able to edit and alter genes in foods such as tomatoes, milk, and corn. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) should be banned in the United States because of their environmental, social, and economical consequences. GMOs should be banned because of their harsh impact on the environment. They are causing biodiversity loss, affecting organic agriculture, and inhibiting sustainable agriculture. In his book, Beyond Evolution: The Genetically Altered Future of Plants, Animals, the Earth and Humans, Bioethicist Dr. Michael W. Fox states, Some costs and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, attempts to uniform crops, or monoculture, will fuel genetic diversity loss. Genetic diversity is what helps crops adapt to weather and survive diseases; without genetic diversity, farmers will resort to using chemicals on their crops from those same companies that weakened their crops (Fox 83). Oyster populations in the Chesapeake Bay, for example, have declined by 96 percent due to eutrophication from Bt (Hewitt). This is alarming because 60 percent of the world s population relies on 40 percent of marine life as a source of food (Hewitt). The genetic modification of Bt crops also has an adverse effect on terrestrial life. This is further illustrated by a decrease in the number of predatory birds during the 1960 s and 1970 s from insecticide; more specifically, bald eagles have declined by at least 6 percent from its usage (Hewitt). GMOs advocates are advising the idea of including genetically altered organisms into organic farming. These advocates believe without the help of genetically engineered seeds the benefits of organic farming will likely remain small ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Condoms and the Illusion of Safe Sex History repeats itself. Even today different issues arise that are quite similar if one takes the time to notice. Early in the twentieth century, smoking cigarettes became popular in America ( The #1 Preventable 1). The average person had little awareness of the negative health effects of smoking other than perhaps throat irritation and coughing. In the 1920s, companies began claiming their brand of cigarettes was physician tested and approved ( Cigarettes were once 2). With this in mind, the general public believed that smoking was not harmful at all. It was not until 1957 that a link was established between lung cancer and smoking ( 1957: Smoking causes 1). More negative effects would be discovered later. Despite this, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ...The answer to both questions is almost certainly: More likely. The free pads would encourage children to take up the game, and once they were in the habit of playing it, they would often do so without going to the trouble of strapping on their pads. Because condoms are available, students will be more likely to use them. They hear lectures on the importance of using condoms in state required sexual education classes. They see the dispensers every time they walk into the bathrooms. This makes the idea of sex ever present in their daily environment. So students will be more likely to choose to engage in safe sex . After that, they may start to underestimate the risk and build up the feeling of invincibility that is commonly felt among teenagers. However, even if they were to continue using condoms, safe sex is truly nothing more than an illusion. There are many physical risks from sexual intercourse that condoms do not protect against. Most people know about these risks acquiring sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), some of which are incurable or life threatening. However, the general public exaggerates and upholds the belief that using a condom can effectively protect against the diseases. Dr. Teresa Crenshaw would disagree. He was once a president of the American Association of Sex Educators and is currently a member in the U.S. Presidential AIDS Commission. He once wrote, Saying that the use of condoms is safe sex is in fact playing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Paracas Candelabra Research Paper Around 200 BC, according to carbon dated pottery found on the Paracas Peninsula at Pisco Bay in Peru, a mysterious image, called the Paracas Candelabra or Candelabra of the Andes, was made in the sand surrounded by large stones. It is 600 feet tall, 2 feet deep and resembles the image of candelabra. The symbol can be seen as far as 12 miles out to sea. There are many rumors as to what this symbol represented whether it be religious, a sailing navigation tool, a huge seismograph or even that it could be referencing a certain hallucinogenic plant. The first suggestion of what the Paracas Candelabra could be was related to religious ideas. In South America, a god named Viracocha, who was the creator god in Incan mythology and who was highly worshipped. The people who worshipped the god believe the image to be that of the lightening rod or staff carried by Viracocha. The also believed that Viracocha would help people during times of trouble and the people of Paracas created the image to help him find his way to them. Another religious idea came about by the Conquistadors who believed that the image was actually representing the Holy Trinity. They took this symbol to be a sign that they should continue their quest to Christianize any of the locals that they could find. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The figure can be seen 12 miles out to see because it is very large and would have been a nice stopping point for sailors along the coastline. According to a researcher named Tony Morrison who interviewed a man who lived about 100 miles south of the Paracas Candelabra, the man has heard first hand accounts that it was just a place for sailors to rest during layovers and over the years, the sailors could have carved the image into the sand. But some are still skeptical as to why that certain image was drawn instead of something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Summary Of Eat More Meat And Save The World By George Savory As humanity advances further into the 21st century, climate change continues to serve as a major obstacle in ensuring a secure world with the immediate and catastrophic dangers it presents. Major scientific organizations and governments over the years have created various programs to tackle this issue: creating carbon emission quotas, investing in green energy and even encouraging citizens to eat less meat and dairy. However, these programs need a lot of effort, funds, and cooperation to be successful and result in a drastic improvement. It is of little surprise that Allan Savory s method of holistic management has gained tremendous popularity, as shown by the fact that his TED talk has two million views. Savory claims that carbon emissions can be reduced by using more herd animals to transform desert areas into lush environments. In a subject as critical as climate change, such an extraordinary idea needs to be able to stand strong against criticism, and George Monbiot, an ardent environmentalist, scrutinizes holistic management in his article Eat More Meat and Save the World: The Latest Implausible Farming Miracle . In the article, the rhetor Monbiot portrays holistic management as an improbable, unscientific idea that knowledgeable environmentalists should disregard with a scholarly and impartial tone that indicates his exigence, logos in the form of peer reviewed studies and their relevance, and ethos via a visualization of Savory s inability to defend his own ... These variables come from learning, watching and experiencing different aspects of life. Ultimately, these experiences shape your behaviors and beliefs creating your culture. What happens when you go to another country, state, city or neighborhood? Do you act and behave like the people in these places? In the broad sense everyone acts the same in the regards to surviving; however, the details of how they live can be very different. When you go to a place outside you own culture, you will experience a change in culture. In this anthropology research, I will take an ethnologist approach to how my husband and step mother s culture has changed within the American society. I will give examples of how these cultures are similar and different in regards to standard of living, education and employment opportunities. I will even discuss realities and problems that exit. All together I will give you a look at what it is like to experience a culture change from Mexico to America and the Philippines to America. My Husband is from a small village called El Carrizal, Mexico. The language is Spanish. Mexico is different in the cities than in the country. The cities have different living standards, work opportunities and college. I will be referring to my husband s situation, coming from a small town perspective. • 8. Compare And Contrast Classical Conditioning And... 3. To test which rats had received Pavlovian and which, instrumental conditioning would be to perform extinction. Extinction involves repeatedly presenting the conditioned stimulus without the unconditioned stimulus. Extinction that occurs in classical conditioning happens when a conditioned stimulus is no longer paired with an unconditioned stimulus. Therefore, for one group, you would remove the tone. In operant conditioning, the extinction can occur if the trained behavior is no longer reinforced. Thus, for another group, extinguish tone and food. By doing this, I would see that the classically conditioned rat s behavior would decline quicker than the operant conditioned rats. Also, another way to test this is to look at the delay in behaviors. In classically conditioned rats, it uses short delay conditioning in which the conditioned stimulus begins a second or so before the unconditioned stimulus. Thus, if you used long delay conditioning, the classically conditioned rats behavior of turning around to receive the food would slowly decrease. This is because the classically conditioned rats are used to the short delay and when the long delay is used the behavior will slowly decrease. In classically conditioned rats, you would see that the timing of the conditioned response will slowly decrease. With the operant conditioned rats, you would see that their responses will not decrease as quickly as the classically conditioned rats. This is because the operant conditioned rats ... When looking at the statistics above the picture we are shown that only two percent of all competitors of the Olympic Games were women. The document is trying to show that more women should be able to be in the Olympic Games and or be nominated to be in the Olympics. This is even further shown as the picture shows a lone women symbolizing a stand for women as she is the only archer we are able to see. Next, we are given Document 8 which shows a woman s statement while competing in the Olympic Games were women were looked down upon to do so. In the Document, we are able to see that the women is trying to show that even though she is a women, she has no problem with trying to show that women can be just as good as men with that being her main point she wanted to get across. • 10. Research Paper On Dante s Inferno Buffy Lunsford Montgomery World Literature Deborah Germany December 7, 2016 Let The Punishment Fit The Crime I grew up in a very strict, religious household and though I was never baptized in the religion I was a practicing Jehovah s Witness till about the age of 25. I do still occasionally go to their meetings but more importantly I still believe the fundamentals of what they teach and Hell is not one of those fundamentals. Jehovah s Witness s believe that when you die that your body and soul returns to the earth. In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return (New World Translation, Gen. 3.19). Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, where you are going (New World Translation, Ec. 9.10). • 13. Analyzing The Gymnastics Scoring System Essay For this research paper, I will be researching the gymnastics scoring system, the controversy that the scoring has created over time, and the general history of the sport. Gymnastics started out as just an exercise program of different moves in Greece. The modernization of gymnastics began in the late 1700s, its been around for about 2,000 years. This is one of the oldest forms of exercise in the world. The scores are completely different not only because the system changed, but because the level of difficulty was also higher. In the sport of gymnastics the perfect 10 scoring system was changed the most. In the very beginning, when gymnastics became a competitive sport the scoring system was based on the perfect 10 and the Code of Points. The Code of Points is the gymnastics rule book. The Olympic games in 1976 took place in Montreal. That year the first perfect 10 was awarded. The perfect 10 was a representation of a flawless routine. In the 1800s gymnastics was first introduced to the United States by the military. Men s gymnastics Olympic competition first started in 1896 in Athens, Greece. Men s gymnastics had far more exercises, including the parallel bars, horizontal bar, pommel horse, vault, and rings. During the 1900s women finally got to participate in the Olympics. The competition for women s Olympic gymnastics first began in 1936 in Berlin, Germany. The exercises done were, bars, beam, floor, and vault. The first world championship took place in 1903. ... When a novel is created into a movie, some symbols are not shown or not expressed as much as they were in the book. When Wise Blood was made into a movie the director, John Huston, left out, or did not express some key symbols such as Haze s mother s glasses and the bible, the white hat, and the car. John Huston s lack of emphasis on the symbols of Haze s mother s glasses and the Bible, the white hat, and the car caused for Haze to be not completely understood in the movie as he was in the novel. • 15. Persuasive Essay On Defense Spending Something that I vehemently disagree on with both political parties is defense spending. In their platforms, both parties seem to favor an increase in funding, even if it is a bit more discretely worded under the Democratic Party s platform. In my view, we allocate too much of our country s resources to the military, and neglect many of its other needs in doing so. The United States military is by far and away the most puissant armed organization in the world. Here are some figures that help illustrate just how pragmatic that last statement is. In the 2015 fiscal year we spent 598 billion dollars on the military; that s over fifty percent of the federal government s discretionary spending.(1) In 2016, only 19 of 194 nations had a higher GDP than America s defense budget; that means that the U.S. spends more money per year on its military than the total value of all goods produced and services provided in a country in a year in 90 percent of the world s nations.(2) According to 2016 statistics the U.S. spends more on its defense than the next eight countries combined.(3) That same year, China was second with a 215 billion dollar defense budget and Russia was third at approximately 69 billion. Donald Trump s audacious administration is actually proposing a budget for 2018 that increases military spending by 54 billion dollars!(4) To make this feasible massive cuts have to be made to the detriment of bureaucratic organizations such as: the department of education, the EPA, department of labor, housing and urban development department. To give that number a frame of reference, the estimated cost of providing tuition free public universities under the 2016 Sanders plan is approximately 75 billion dollars.(5) We already have nearly eight hundred military bases around the world, do we really need to allocate more resources to this department in which we already have the ability to act unilaterally on a global scale with impunity?(6) Or are there other departments in our society that could benefit more from an influx in funding? I disagree with the egregiously high military budget for several reasons. Not only do I feel that other pivotal areas of our society are lacking support, but I also disagree ... Before ending the story she tells the reader how all of her activities have not made her feel any less different then she did before. However, she comes to the realization that if it had not been for all of those years of hard work on the farm, then she would not be able to manage her time as well as she does to be able to participate in all those activities, and at the same time hold down a job, and perform better than others in the work place (Hemauer, 2011). The entire story I felt as if I was there on the farm with the young girl. There are many difficulties that may arise when implementing anti discriminatory practice in health and social care settings such as; * The development of resentment culture. This is when an individual who has been discriminated against builds a hostility towards the individuals who discriminated against them, so that when that individual has children they pass these views to them, the child will then grow up believing this view unless shown otherwise and will continue to believe this view and will pass it to their offspring therefore making hard for anti discriminatory practices to be implemented as because of the experience this individual has had it will be hard to show them that things have changed. * Individuals not understanding the importance of promoting and implementing of anti discriminatory practice. If an individual does not see why the practices need to be put in place and are an employee of a health and social care provider they might cause trouble by refusing to follow them, which can make service users who needs the practices lose self worth. * Difference in value systems and beliefs Everyone has different values and beliefs so may refuse to follow certain anti discriminatory practices because of these values or beliefs which can cause problems for health and social provisions which this individual works for the provider. * Internal ... Although it seems a little too late, better late than never, and now I should do it mostly for my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Technology In Richard Louv s Last Child In The Woods Not too long ago, people relied on nature for everything. They used it for their bare necessities and even for their entertainment. But in the recent years, the number of new technologies has been increasing at a rapid rate. With smartphones and other portable devices, people live in a world surrounded by technology and other materialistic objects. Children in the newer generations are being directly introduced into a world full of technology by their parents without the chance to see what excitement nature has to offer. In Richard Louv s passage Last Child in the Woods he argues that people of the newer generations are being separated from nature by technology. Through the use of examples, personal pronouns, personal anecdotes, and rhetorical questions, Louv explains how people forget to appreciate nature by manipulating it. With newer technologies, things that people thought only nature could control are now being manipulated by humans. Louv explains how researchers are experimenting with a genetic technology through which they can choose the colors that appear on butterfly wings (Louv 2 4). This example of how people can manipulate nature is included in Louv s essay because it opens people s eyes to the fact that natural phenomena will not remain solely natural for long. The things that were once untouched by humans are becoming contaminated. Additionally, this example specifically states how people are able to choose how they want nature to look. A butterfly is ... • 32. The Sixth Decade By Jonathan Schell GS 435 Book Review The Seventh Decade by Jonathan Schell By: Jordan Petruska Professor Tom Deligiannis Friday October 9, 2015 The nuclear bomb is an interesting phenomenon that has captured the fascination of scholars, academics, politicians, and the media to bring curiosity and fear together. The first and only use of nuclear weapons occurred in 1945 during the Second World War, wiping out over 200,000 Japanese civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Nuclear bombs, were now viewed as the number one threat that could potentially destroy our planet and the human race. Since 1945 nuclear weapons have since been a strong threat that has imposed a psychological anxiety for world leaders as this threat has expanded to fifty countries with the ... The third and final proposal is taking greater action on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty to confirm all nations are on the same playing field to dismantle nuclear weaponry. I plan on providing updated analysis in these issues as well. The Seventh Decade was written in 2007 and a lot has gone on since then in regards to nuclear activity and I plan on making it clear to the reader where the U.S. and the rest of the world stands. It has been seventy years since the last military nuclear bomb was successfully executed and many of us feel that nuclear threats have decedent or vanished, but Schell informs us that they are full of life. The Seventh Decade examines how the nuclear bomb has continued to cast a dark shadow over global politics and has advocated for the non proliferation of nuclear weapons. The book takes on a robust roadmap to a nuclear bomb free world that looks at the historical dark uncertainties of the Cold War, where the odds of a nuclear attack were extremely high during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis to the spread of nuclear knowledge and technology in the 1990s to unstable nations like Iraq and Pakistan, increasing the risk and fear of a nuclear war. Schell brings up some important foundational questions like what can be done? Where are we heading? Why has the nuclear threat been revived? The Seventh Decade calls into question for a global debate to end nuclear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Imperialism In Uganda During the imperialism in Africa, a lot of different events happened in Uganda. The imperialism had effects on the country, some of the effects benefited the country, and some did not. Mostly, it did not benefit the country. The British did most things to only benefit themselves, and did not care about what happened to the citizens of Uganda. The British only wanted power over the country, and to make a profit. Before the imperialism, Uganda was a prosperous country. They were one of the most powerful and the largest kingdoms in Africa. was heralded for its royal history and development as a center of learning and culture...it descended into chaos and destruction with the rise to power of a despotic military leader...begun to reestablish itself ... There was a organization called the Lord s Resistance Army and they would attack the country. They kidnapped children and caused more people to flee. They killed many people in Uganda to rebel. Uganda tried to contact them to stop this rebelling, but they did not. Uganda tried to meet up with the leader of the group, but they did not show up. They tried to make peace and come to an agreement to stop, but they did not want to. The leader of the Lord s Resistance Army, Joseph Kony, again fails to turn up for the signing of a peace agreement ( Uganda Profile Timeline ). Uganda is putting a lot of effort into trying to settle things with the LRA, but the LRA does not want to settle any of their disputes. Uganda wants everything to be mostly peaceful again, but they cannot do that without the LRA stopping their unnecessary attacks against Uganda. The LRA and Ugandans end up signing a truce after having several peace talks, causing a ceasefire. British imperialism did many things for the Ugandans. It did both good, and bad, but the British did not do much to help them. The country was stable before the British came, but after, they were not doing that well. Uganda did become stable eventually after the British. They helped them obtain more resources and ways of transportation, but they took over their government. The British only cared about what was good for themselves and were greedy. They only wanted power and control over the country, they did not have many means to help them out, without mostly benefitting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Describe the advantages and disadvantages associated with each of Motorola s strategic options. posted Jan 14, 2010, 5:06 PM by Eric M. Zeman During the first quarter of 2010 Motorola has announce its latest strategic plan according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, Motorola has paused efforts to sell its home and networks mobility unit, which makes cable boxes and other gear. Two reasons factor into Motorola s thinking, say the Journal s sources. The first is that handset sales have increased in recent months (due to the popularity of devices such as the Droid), and that has the company believing that it might survive as one entity. The other reason is that the bids for the unit have been lower than Motorola hoped. Motorola believed it could fetch between $4 and $5 billion for the set top box division, but has seen bids in the $3 to $4 billion range. The next round of bids are due in mid February, but it is unclear if Motorola will accept them. Motorola s board is planning to meet to discuss how to proceed. I feel if the market research and sales indicate its time to end the business of cable box manufacturing then I supports Motorola latest strategic plan and use the resources and invest it in future products. 4.
