The Effect Of A Trebuchet Arm Length And Counterweight...
Effect of a Trebuchet Arm Length or Counterweight Mass on Projectile Distance A trebuchet is a siege
weapon most commonly used in the middle ages. It uses gravity to propel an object. There are
competitions held today called Pumpkin Chunkin which use trebuchets to launch pumpkins as far as
possible. The common question is what the dimensions should be when making it. Should the arm be
longer or shorter? Should the counterweight be heavier or lighter? These questions have been asked by
competitors in trebuchet competition as well as engineers. And this is why the project is in the field of
mechanical engineering. The way a Trebuchet works is that a counter weight drops which pulls the
arm forward and at the point of takeoff a pin releases the object that is being projected. The
counterweight drops using gravity and is attached to the arm causing it to fly up and launch the object.
Engineers have had previous experience in this field because of the world wide trebuchet launching
competitions. One example of engineers making this trebuchet are the engineers from team NASAW
in the Pumpkin Chunkin competition. Team NASAW has a trebuchet with a heavy weight and a long
arm. There arm and weight start next to each other at the beginning. The weight drops forward and
like a whip the arm swings around and fires the pumpkin into the air at insane speeds. They are one of
the top competitors in the competition and have proven countless times that the design works
wonderfully.

Informative Speech On Grand Canyon
Being a park ranger is hard but getting there is even harder. All you do is study and learn about the
park. So I thought I would tell you about what I know. The main part of the training is know about the
past of the park. The Grand Canyon has been protected since 1893, then in 1908 the Grand Canyon
became a national monument. In 1919 the Grand Canyon became a national park. The number of
visitors has swelled since it became a national park. There a about 4.5 million visitors a year. We are
trying to criminalize it and industrialize our resources. We are also trying to pilfer its archaeological
treasures. It has been a struggle to protect it while sharing it with the world. There are many threats on
Grand Canyon today. The grand canyon s waterways are at risk of pollution from Grandfather ... Show

As park ranger it is my job. The most easy s fact, that you proplay know is that it is located in Arizona.
The Grand Canyon is over 270 miles long, up to 18 miles deep and wide. The Canyon s rocky layers
reveal Earth s history. We have reached out to a former Navajo Nation President and other partners, to
build a tourist development here. The Navajo have been asked to invest $65 million for a road and
other infrastructure. They earn 8 to 18 percent of recipes. The tribe makes $40 million to $70 million
annually. The tribe approved the development agreement in several months. The tourist development
could open by 2018. I don t know about you but I can t wait. The Grand Canyon is that people come
to be amazed by Mother Nature s work. Every time I see the Grand Canyon I get awed. This is no
place to get entertained but to come and connect with this amazing site. The Grand Canyon plays an
important role, in creation and religious beliefs. Native Americans tribes have reserved land along the
sides and on the floor of this magical place. The Grand Canyon is my spiritual home, and it is my final

Social Issues And Environmental Issues
In today s world majority of the environmental issues we face are also social issues. These
environmental issues becoming social issues when they tend to impact a large number of individuals
in society. Some well known examples of this would be climate change, global warming and
deforestation. These are clearly environmental issues but are also social issues because they all pose a
threat to the environment of mankind. Some environmental and social issues don t seem like they
would be social issues looking at it from afar but if you take the time to analyze and break it down you
can see it does indeed have an impact on a large part of humans. For example, animal predator

It also makes up for some of the states that can t plant crops or do as much farming due to their
environment and/or landscape. Another positive is if there is a loss of crops in other parts of the
United States, Iowa could carry the weight of those lost crops but it can also be a negative because if
Iowa is one of those states that is experiencing the loss of crops then that is a big portion of the corn
and soybeans being planted for that year. Another negative would be only being able to farm for a
certain part of the year because you only plant two crops which could lead to less jobs and a decrease
in the state of Iowa s economy. This is both an environmental and social issue because, it is about the
environment and how crops can impact it but also how it can impact humans.
In chapter 11 of Bell, I read about supplying water in a costa rican village. There was a small village
in Costa Rica that had just put in a new water supply dam. The dam was based on a small stream that
went up into the mountains above the village and it was able to supply all of the houses on that side of
the valley with clean running water. Positives of this is that there is water that is easily accessible to all
of them in that area of the valley, they don t have to put their lives in danger by going into rivers and

The Decline Of The Ottoman Empire
How the Decline of the Ottoman Empire Led to the Armenian Genocide
Extended Essay in History

May 2016

ABTRACT
Through the investigation of the changes occurring from the first European presence in the Muslim
world to the end of the Ottoman Empire, this essay attempts to answer why the Armenian genocide
occurred. The Ottoman Empire started its decline when Napoleon entered Egypt in 1798. Napoleon
brought along with him armies but also a new culture. The British did the same with Moghul India.
The elite and people in positions of power were impressed by what the Europeans and the Americans
were doing and seeing how powerful and successful they were. The Turks in the Ottoman Empire
wanted the same. The Young Turks overthrew the Sultan of the time and started a reform of the
Ottoman Empire to try to salvage it. The Young Turks also believed that all people regardless of
religion or ethnicity deserved the same rights.
The Armenians were one of the ethnicities that were in the minority. They obtained more rights when
the policy was put in place. Before the Armenians received their right they were rebelling against the
Ottomans. This was frightening to the majority. Massacres of the minorities, especially the Armenians
started well before 1915, but the killings progressed in 1915. Many of the Armenians were deported
and forced to leave their homes. In 1915

Genetic Engineering And The Human Existence
Why is genetic engineering crucial to the human existence? Initially, genetic engineering, also called
genetic modification, is the process of manually adding new unique DNA into an organism. The
objective is to add one or numerous new traits that are not already constructed in that particular
organism. New DNA inserts in the host genome and immediately isolates and replicates the gene of
interest by using molecular cloning methods to synthesize a DNA sequence; then inserting this
construct into the host organism. Genes may be removed, using a nucleus. Gene targeting is a different
technique that uses homologous recombination to change an endogenous gene, and can be used to
distinguish a gene, remove exons, add a gene, or introduce point ... Show more content on

When the complete benefits of human genetic engineering therapy are ever seen, it would have a huge
impact on disease as a whole. Furthermore, it is statistically proven that genetic engineering,
exclusively lengthens the life span of an organism. Healthier and longer lives would be possible,
without certain diseases. This interoperates that human genetic engineering has the potential to further
advance the quality of life and to provide longer life spans. Reversing some of the cellular causes for
decline of the body could be possible when actions are made with genetic engineering. Moreover, it
will eliminate illness and disease in an unborn child, helping the infant grow and prosper. A key
benefit of genetic engineering is the prospect of supporting the treatment to illness and diseases in
unborn children. With the addition of genetic screening, a fetus is enabled for treatment of the unborn.
Overtime, this can impact the growing spread of diseases in future generations. Without doubt, genetic
engineering has their huge benefits to mankind, however there are quite a few of cons. Human genetic
engineering, does contribute to the danger list in human society. There are ethical issues that rise from
the changing of natures way. Many of those opposed to human genetic engineering have their opinion
based on ethical views. There is a belief that god should have ultimately

Customer Service Square states they will respond to email s within 24 hours; however, it seems they

The Editing Of Little Miss Sunshine
The editing of Little Miss Sunshine is presented very smoothly. The montage introduces us to the six
main characters and shows us a glimpse into each one s life. This is effective in communicating to the
audience by allowing them to feel a part of each characters life and quickly provide a backstory of
each character. The film also presents some creative juxtapositions in the editing. The opening credits
of the film is when the montage begins. We start by seeing Olive (Abigail Breslin) watching a beauty
pageant, the scene then cuts to show her father Richard (Greg Kinnear) presenting his nine steps. Next
is her brother Dwayne (Paul Dano), then her grandpa Edwin (Alan Arkin) doing cocaine and her
mother Sheryl (Toni Collette) smoking a cigarette.

In Hiroshima, John Hersey Focuses On The Survivors Of The
In Hiroshima, John Hersey focuses on the survivors of the atomic bomb that is dropped on the city of
Hiroshima at the end of World War II. Instead of focusing on one individual, Hersey decides to report
on six that survive the blast. The survivors came from many different walks of life and were all
affected by the coming of the nuclear age. Mrs. Hatsayo Nakamura was a widow raising three young
children. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was a young surgeon unhurt during the explosion, leaving him to care
for thousands of Hiroshima s wounded. Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge was a German priest that comforts
many of the wounded and dying. Toshiko Sasaki was a young woman working in a factory to make
ends meet for her family and her parents. Dr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bomb caused many slow moving fires throughout the city, some of which soon encroached upon
the park. The fire pushed the wounded toward the riverbank, which became overcrowded, causing
many of those that could be saved to drown. This was only one example of what was seen that day by
the survivors. Eventually, Miss Sasaki was rescued from the factory in which she became trapped, but
was then left under a makeshift shack for days on end before being rescued again. With a broken and
gangrenous leg, Sasaki survives after finally being taken to a hospital. Whatever the survivors of the
bombing of the city of Hiroshima experienced, the thing they share is survival.
The six survivors all were changed in some way after the bombing of Hiroshima. At the end of his
book, Hersey adds a chapter that details what happened to each survivor in the months and years after
the day the bomb was dropped. Mrs. Nakamura ends up suffering from radiation poisoning after the
fact, but ends up eventually getting a decent job and lives well off. Mrs. Nakamura epitomizes the
Japanese idea of Shikata ga nai , which translates roughly into English as It can t be helped . She does
not display much emotion during the events because there s nothing she can do to affect what is
happening to her. Dr. Sasaki ends up leaving the hospital he had worked at during the time before the
bomb was dropped. This could be because of the amount of suffering he saw

The Effects Of The Balance Of Power
The Effects of the Balance of Power
Introduction
In the breadth of International Relations, political theorists have been seeking a solution to maintain
peace and stability among states. As conflict among states is imminent, it is impossible to fully
eliminate war and aggression. However, the scope of international relations is to create an effort to
minimize conflict by using communicative techniques and strategies. The best way to create
diplomatic resolutions is to understand the function of the actors and their roles. The balance of power
is a strategic concept that offers a feasible solution to bring about stability and harmony to conflicting
states.
The primary instrument that engages the prospect of war, peace, and the balance of power is the
amount of actors who possess power on the international stage. There are three main systems to
classify the allocation of power in the international community. The three systems include a unipolar,
bipolar, and multipolar world. Many realists theorists correlate multi polar systems as destructive and
problematic in causing wars. Meanwhile, it is widely agreed that bipolarity encourages stability and a
unipolar world is the most ideal in maintaining peace. The objective of this paper is to analyze these
three concepts of distribution of power and how it has affected the international stage after World War
II.
Conceptualization: Balance of Power
The balance of power theory is considered a rudimentary concept in the field of

The Wood Duck Essay
Aix Sponsa or the Wood Duck is said to be one of the most beautiful breed of ducks in North America.
Just is name, Aix Sponsa, means The Water Bride. Ever since the first American settlers arrived in the
eastern shores of North America people have been mesmerized by the beauty of this colorful animal.
But instead of just standing there and marveling at it they hunted and used the Wood Duck as means
for survival. This made the Wood Duck one of the most popular games ducks in North America. And
by the turn of the 19th Century it was on the brink of extinction. And from 1918 to 1941 a ban was put
on hunting the Wood Duck which allowed its population to climb out of any worries ... Show more

relative is the Mandarin Duck of eastern Asia. They share colors and features only distinct to there

The Wood Duck is a North American and North American only species. It lives, breeds, and winters in
North America. They mostly range from the eastern United States to the southern parts of Canada.
There is also trace in some parts northwestern United States. And in one instance the Wood Duck as
been found in parts of Newfoundland. When winter comes the northern duck will come down to the
southeastern United States where it will spend most of the winter until it then migrates back to the
north. It is after the wintering time that they begin to start breeding. When they arrive back they seek
out secluded swamps or other habitats and begin mating. And the female can lay up to 15 dull white
eggs which it will nest the eggs in the habitat until they hatch. Then the ducklings are fed for by the
female and the female would leas them to the nearest source of food and water. And usually eight
weeks later the female will let the ducklings go free.
The Wood duck is a herbivore mainly eating plants, and small vegetation. Which can included
duckweeds, grasses, acorns, and stuff like that. Though the duckling when first born needs to

The Journey Of Cultural Practices
Framework Overview
Although referred to as the competing values framework the mainstay of this theory is to recognize
the many dynamics aspects it takes in managerial personnel to effectively operate a financially sound
organization. Although sufficient in describing the four differencing administration styles, controller,
competitor, creator and the clan leader, this framework limits itself by conflicting each value as
independently working against one another instead of encompassing a wraparound approach as used
in Public Health, seen in (appendix A) where more fluid dynamics interplay in both the internal and
external aspects of the agency providing for more client centered, population focused, community
based services through well matched system approaches. Of note, not one of the four identified
approaches has been proven to be more effective than another, however in totality, much like an
interdisciplinary team approach to services, when incorporated equally, each skill set complements the
overall goal of the agency.
Organizational Leadership The Journey of Cultural Practices in End of Life Care initiative is a
program under the umbrella of public health and as such reports the stakeholders formed of by the
Board of Commissioners. The program coordinator is the current hospice social worker who will
instill a less formal style of governance, according to the by laws of the agency. Unlike the hierarchal
and marketing approach of public health, which focuses on the

Abc Corporation s Management Plan
Introduction I conducted my research based on a company for which I am familiar with but do not
work for. ABC Corporation is based out of Anywhere Town, KS. ABC Corporation actually bids on
government, Department of Defense (DoD), contracts and if accepted is awarded the contract as the
either the Prime or Subcontractor on the military installations. As the Prime or Subcontractor, ABC
Corporation, has no policies and procedures in place when they are awarded the contract. Those
policies and procedures are actually built into the contract that the installation awards such as Contract
shall meet the requirements of ISO 9001 2008 for all contracted services (Plan A, 2015) . There is no
mandate in place that requires that ABC have an integrated management system. ABC s approach is
that a structured system is in place to ensure that the contractual requirements that the government has
set forth are met and to continually improve the effectiveness of the Quality System.
Methodology
Evaluation of Policies, Procedures and Plans:
Management Plan ABC s Management Plan for the military installations has one main objective
which is To ensure that the customer receives the best possible support with the highest possible
quality, in the best possible time, and that the support is accomplished safely (Plan A, 2015). ABC s

Physical Properties Of A Compound
The melting point is just one of the physical properties of a compound. The melting point helps
identify a compound and the purity of a compound. If a compound is truly pure, it ll have a higher
melting point than a compound that is mixed with another substance. Also if a substance is truly pure,
it ll have a narrow melting point range. In order to identify a compound, small amount of the
compound is heated in a device that has thermometer, a heating bath and a magnifying glass. The
second the compound or substance starts to melt, that s the first point. The second point is when the
compound or substance is completely melted. These two points makeup the melting point. The
purpose of the experiment is to determine the melting point of different ... Show more content on

obtained in the lab were very close to the true melting points of each substance. The color ofeach

solid to a liquid and then back to a solid. The process of using a digimelt to melt different substances
and finding their melting points is a useful technique because it allows chemists to identify substances
and if that substance is pure. This technique could be used when a chemist discovers a compound. The
chemist could use the digimelt to melt the compound and to identify the melting point. The chemist
could thencompare the melting of the compound to a list of compounds. This helps the chemist to
identifywhat compound he found. One way to improve this lab would be to test all the equipment and
make sure it works beforeusing it. By testing all the equipment, like the digimelt, this would prevent
any mistakes or errors in the data. A way to test the digimelt would be to melt a known substance and
see if the melting point obtained from the digimelt matches the melting from a trusted chemical
source.Another way to improve this lab would be to use a new spatula every time a

Effects Of Social Class On Unethical Behavior
Effect of Social Class on Unethical Behavior
Both social class and ethical behavior are important notions in our society today and have been for
many years. Unethical behavior can be defined as behavior or actions that hurts others and are illegal
or ethically questionable (Piff et al., 2012). CNN recently reported Volkswagen is being charged with
deception regarding emissions of supposedly clean vehicles. They reported that for over ten years
more than eleven million vehicles have been deliberately programmed to fabricate emissions of
damaging pollutants under certified testing conditions (Tellado, 2015). Why are consumers so
concerned and outraged at this fraud? This upsets consumers and others because they care about and
find ethics and morality to be important. Morals and values are important in our society because they
help direct people s lives and motivate people to take part in meaningful relationships. The research
completed for his article examines not just ethical behavior but also the role social class playing in
determining ethical behavior. The relationship between these to notions will examined by observing
behavior at a crosswalk. Social class is defined as a circumstance established by both the material
substance of social life and the individual s understanding of his or her social rank, and is a
fundamental feature of how he or she interacts in the social world (Kraus et al., 2012). Clothing type
was used to operationalize social class in this research,

Mary Kay Case Study
Global Marketing Case
Question 1: Is Mary Kay an international firm , a multinational firm , or a transnational firm as
defined in this course and based on its marketing strategy? Why? Mary Kay, Inc. was founded in 1963
by Mary Kay Ash as Beauty by Mary Kay. Mary Kay is a direct sale type of company, with
independent beauty consultants that sell and market Mary Kay products (2012 Corporate Fact Sheet).
Mary Kay Ash operated with the mindset of God First, Family Second, and Career Third, and always
adhered to the golden rule, do to others as you d want them to do to you (Kerin, Et. Al). Mary Kay,
Inc. first entered the global market in 1971 with its expansion into Australia. Today, Mary Kay is
represented in over 35 global markets (2012 Corporate Fact Sheet). Mary Kay is challenged to ensure
brand consistency across the world, despite differences in cultures from market to market. As such,
Mary Kay would be considered a transnational firm. They tie the similarities between each market
together while celebrating the differences in each market. This strategy allows them to offer Mary Kay
s core product lines globally where they re most desired. In China, one of their most successful
markets, Mary Kay applied their existing corporate message of women empowerment to attract

Prestige Rather than National Security was the Main Concern of Henry VIII s Foreign Policy from
1529 1547
During the 1930 s, much of Henry s foreign policy was distracted by reformation and as England had
broken away from Rome, England was on its own and to some degree in a vulnerable situation
especially when England was threatened by a Catholic crusade from The Empire and France. Henry
was alarmed by this threat and used monastic wealth to build up England s defences. Henry spent a
staggering ₤600.00 on coastal forts and on the navy; therefore, showing that during the 1930.s

invading Scotland, if he really did want to gain glory and prestige, it would be gained from invading a
great power for example France, therefore, showing once again that Henry s main concern when
invading Scotland was national security.
When Henry invaded France in 1544, his main concern was national security as France had been a
traditional enemy and invading France would be seen as a glory war, but this came second in his
foreign policy, as France had threatened England with crusades in 1540 s, therefore, he had to protect
his security, by striking first. Even though Henry personally captured Bologne when he invaded
France, was mainly prestige, but was also in order to prove a point to his enemy that no power can
threaten England s security.
When Henry made an alliance with the Emperor Charles V in 1543 its objective was of capturing
Paris, but also because having the greatest power in Europe On you side at the time, mean t that

Margaret Sanger s Life And Life
Margaret Sanger was born in Corning, New York on September 14, 1879 [3] as Margaret Louise
Higgins. [1] Her father, Michael Higgins, originally studied phrenology and other medical practices,
but eventually moved to being a stone cutter. Her mother, Anne Higgins, was born in Ireland, and her
family moved to Canada during the Potato Famine. In 1869 Michael married Anne and she went
through 18 pregnancies, only 11 of which lived. [3] Margaret was the sixth child in this long line and
spent her time doing chores and looking after the younger children. Her older two older sisters
supported her when she started attending school at Claverack College and Hudson River Institute. [2]
When her mother was 50 years old, she passed away and Margaret blamed her mother s frequent
childbearing and poverty for her death. At the age of 21, Margaret started taking classes at the White
Plains Hospital as a nurse probationer. Not even two years later, in 1902, she married William Sanger
and quit her schooling. Later in 1913, Margaret and William filed for divorce but it wasn t finalized
until 1921. [13] She went on to marry Noah Slee in 1922. After having 3 children, she and her family
took up residence in New York city, with her as a visiting nurse and her husband an architect and

Section I: Identification and Evaluation of Sources
This investigation will explore the question: To what extent was propaganda used to show the Soviet
threat, as experienced by the United States, during the Red Scare of the Cold War? The scope of this
investigation will be 1947 1957, to allow for analysis of the era of McCarthyism, as well as the
evolution of Anti Communism in American society.
The origin of the first source being evaluated is the book, Total Cold War: Eisenhower s Secret

Lawrence, Kansas in 2006. The purpose of this source was to chronicle the secret psychological
warfare programs that the United States developed during the ... Show more content on

source was that the chapter titles were not allusive to the content of the chapter, they were very vague.
The origin of the second source being evaluated is an essay called The Role of the Media during the
Cold War which was written by Alexander Stafford at Queen s University of Belfast and published on
October 16, 2013. The purpose of this source was to explain the role of the media during the Cold War
and how it produced and maintained cultural antagonism. The content of this source included
information on the development, distribution, and importance of political propaganda. This source was
organized in a way where claims were presented, supported by facts, and then validated. A value of
this source is that the content included a lot of information on the public opinion of the Cold War. This
allowed for further expansion within the research question of this investigation. Another value of this
source was that the sources used hold validity, which further benefits this investigation. A limitation of
this source is that the content omitted information on all forms of media, such as film and print. The

Russian Dogs Research Paper
Ever since man learned how to domesticate animals they have been an important aspect of human life
whether they are watchful eyes in the night as man sleeps or carrying him across great distances
quickly. Russian science fiction is no different in this reliance on animals, using them as protagonists,
reoccurring symbols of something greater, or as plot devices the main character can open up to
explaining their emotions however, one theme seems to appear more often than any other. In this
paper, I propose that in Russian science fiction the dog is loyal and trustworthy which comes from
Russia s long national love of dogs. While this animal is not the only one used by Russian sci fi
authors, dogs are the most prominently used for their symbolism. ... Show more content on

According to Labaree (1997) a public good is one where benefits are enjoyed by all the member of the
community, whether or not the actually contributed to the production of this good . On the other hand,
economic literature states that a good can be considered public if it is not excludable and nonrival. The
first characteristic means that if an individual consume this good the other people are not excluded
from consuming it. The second means that when one person consumes the amount available to other
people does not reduce the quantity available for others (Varian, 1992).
It is hard to set education as a public good. Because, the way we discuss education is not well defined
as well. Sometimes people discuss education in country level (or as a system), in the school level or in
the classroom level. Note that the concept of public good can be different in each case. For instance, in
classroom level it seems difficult to accept education as a public good. If a classroom has a limited
size, we are excluding people when we decide to put a group in that class. The nonrival attribute does
not seem to be true in the classroom level as well. Suppose the classroom has a student that demands
teacher all the time, the education available for other students in the classroom can be reduced.
Nonetheless, Labaree discuss education as a system. In this case, the characteristic of a public good
fits better. If policy makers decide to provide a new seat in one school, it seems that

Hip Hop Influence On African American Culture
Have you ever seen a group of boys dancing together with some exciting and cool musical beat? Hip
hop has a great impact on many African Americans as a cultural phenomenon. Actually, hip hop has
two different definitions. One means a type of dance music with spoken words and a steady beat
played on electronic instruments, originally played by young African Americans. The other meaning is
the culture of the young African Americans and others who enjoy this type of music which includes
special styles of arts, dancing and dress. Hip hop included Deejays, rapping, B Boys, and graffiti.
However, rapping became its main form some years later. (Danger, 2013) But does everybody know

During the 1970s, hip hop first emerged in the west Bronx, in New York City. Not only was it popular
among the African Americans, but it also had some influence on the Latin Americans in that area.
(What Is Hip Hop, n.d) Though hip hop has been shaped and redefined by many artists many times
since it was born, it came to life on a precise day in 1973 at a birthday party which was celebrated in
Bronx, in New York City. A boy who was known to history as DJ Kool Herc presided over this party.
He once noticed that people danced when they heard a special record. So he linked this behavior to the
drum beats. DJ Kool Herc came up with a new way to reverse the turntables and make them outwards
repeatedly between the two duplicates of the identical record, extending the short drum beat which
people wanted to hear most. This trick is known as the break beat . Later in this year, DJ Kool Herc
played this style of break beat at his sister s birthday party. (A+E Network, 2009) This party became
the first hip hop party which changed the world successfully with its social, musical and political
impacts on the world. (Laurence, 2014) So, DJ Kool Herc was the founding father of hip hop.
By the end of 1987, the Bronx became well known because it was the birthplace of hip hop.
Everything about hip hop in it seemed to be discussed heatedly. Under that circumstance, some people
tended to mix hip hop with

the job of a multicultural manager except the difficulties that differ from those of a usual manager.

It seems like every week we hear about thousands and thousands of people losing their jobs. Back in
the 1980s most of the job losses were in the blue collar sector. In the 1990s it seems many of the cuts
were made in the white collar, management jobs. Why? Think about it. Technology, to a large extent,
has driven organizations to change the way they operate and that includes the way they manage. We re
going to take an in depth look at how organizations work and how they ve been transformed by
technology on the world stage.
Information systems are the foundation for conducting business today. In many industries, survival
and even existence is difficult without extensive use of information technology. No longer can we
imagine going to work and conducting business without them. As a society we have come to rely
extensively on the use of information appliances such as cell phones, BlackBerrys, handhelds, and
other hardware. Communicating and conducting business is increasingly being carried out through the
use of e mail, online conferencing, and international teleconferencing over the Internet have all
become essential tools of business.

Analysis of the Film Chost in the Shell Essays
The Science Fiction film Ghost in the Shell is a complex movie, which at times one may find it
difficult to follow. This may be because before this film was created in 1995 there was a manga series
that provided some essential background knowledge of what was going on and why. Watching the film
could be like watching Pokémon movies without watching the series . First, you would be confused as
to why Ash, the main character has a particular interest in re catching Pikachu. But like most movies
you eventually start to get a feel as to what is going on. Ghost in the Shell takes place in a futuristic

was also very interested in the Puppet Master as she saw a mirrored self in him. She was so eager to

same company). The Puppet Master s Plan to receive asylum failed, so he convinced Major to merge

before her own shell was destroyed by section 6. In the final scene Major was replaced in a little girl s
Body and found herself accepting this new identity of a merged Puppet Master and old Major.
This movie portrays cyborgs as both good for humanity and dangerously bad. Starting with the Puppet
Master being a deadly threat to humans not just violently but also in other ways. His greater threat he
presented was his highly advanced hacking skills. He had the ability to hack in to people s ghosts, one
of the hardest areas of the brain to reach. He was able to creat fake memories and erase the ones they
originally had. This is more than a physical danger to humanity but a danger to the integrity of
humanity as a whole. Imagine if the hacker decided to hack in to someone with extreme power, such
as the president. The hacker would then be able to control the country to its violent end.

Early Aurignacians
The early Aurignacian layer contains only lithics and lacks the art and ornamentation pieces found in
the other three Aurignacian sections. Hahn originally wanted to call this layer proto Aurignacian, This
suggestion by Hahn related to his observation that AH III at Geißenklösterle lacked split based bone
points, which he considered the hallmark of the early Aurignacian (Nicholas J. Conard 2011).
Continued research shows that this is not the case, the Aurignacian occupation in the area fits the time
period of the early Aurignacian and not the proto Aurignacian sometimes referred to as the Fumanian,
with its geographic focus in Mediterranean Europe (Bon 2002; Teyssandier and Liolios 2003; Bolus

The first answer could be as simple as they wiped them out through warfare. Neanderthals are thought
to have lived in smaller groups and not to have reproduced as much as modern humans due to
exploiting fewer resources, this would have given the Aurignacian people an easy advantage, but it is
also commonly accepted that it would not have been needed. It is thought that through better use of
resources and a willingness to take more resources that H.Sapiens Sapiens could have merely slowly
taken over from Neanderthals by taking up all the resources for their growing population resulting in
slowly starving the remaining Neanderthals. A good example of the different mindset between the two
groups when it came to food is what happened to cave bears when modern humans arrived.
Neanderthals and cave bears seem to have coexisted in a dynamic equilibrium with both species able
to survive in the same region over long periods of time. With the arrival of modern humans this
dynamic equilibrium was disturbed. Cave bear hunting was intensified and more bones show
anthropogenic modifications and even direct evidence of hunting (Münzel et al. 2001; Münzel and
Conard 2004b), (Nicholas J. Conard 2011). It wasn t only food that the groups would have had to
compete for, but also resources for crafting of tools, art, and instruments as well as fire wood. The
Middle Paleolithic and Aurignacian are characterized by concentrations of burnt bone, indicating that
the environment did not always contain sufficient quantities of wood for the heating and lighting
needs of both populations (Nicholas J. Conard 2011). It is commonly thought that without the
introduction on modern humans Neanderthals would not have gone extinct. Neanderthal culture was
not necessarily inferior, merely different and not suited to compete in the style it was forced

How Did Mexican Architecture Influence The Spanish...
Arts and literature Spanish paintings became popular during the Romanesque period. During the
middle ages, many aspects of art became important like the manuscripts that were mainly written for
religious purposes. The manuscripts during the medieval period depicted the life of the people then
like how they dressed, what food they ate and their many ceremonies. There were many manuscripts
written by a Spanish king called Alfonso X the Castilian King. There was a transition in the history of
Spanish art from the Romanesque to gothic art. The Romanesque art had to do with miniature pieces
of art but during the gothic period many of the acts produced then were stained glasses. Spanish

At a point in history a lot of moors occupied a great portion of Spain and they created some beautiful
architecture with a Spanish twist to it which includes the great mosque of Cordoba which has a church
embedded in it. Throughout history the Spanish architecture has been shaped by the changing trends
in Europe. In the start of the 12th century the gothic style was introduced which greatly influenced the
styles in the buildings like the cathedral of Toledo, Burgos and Leon. The renaissance trend in Europe
greatly influenced the Spanish architecture. Spanish architectures were not just about buildings they
were also a means of communication. Each architecture that was created reflected the community s
values, pursuits and culture. Each Spanish building erected showed the dominance of a cultural group
in the community and the geographical area it was erected in showed the extent of their power and
dominance. Such buildings often bore an identifying sign for example the sign of a church was
different from that of a mosque. The church s sign was significantly that of a cross while that of a
mosque bore that of a crescent moon and a star and it signified the significance or dominance of a
religious group or cultural group in that area. The middle ages were an exciting period in the history of
Spanish architecture and it was at that time there was the entrance of the moors which means Muslim
in Spanish. And there was a clash between Muslims and Christians in that time of history. At that time
the Christians and Muslims emerged their cultures together to form the Mozarabic architecture. It was
not uncommon to see a church being converted to a mosque and vice versa. The great church of

the great bird shall come. Al Kantanel shall come. It is the word of god. The Itza shall come. It was

general symbolic of freedom. I believe that this work makes reference to when Jesus, speaking in

Research Paper On Baldness
Baldness is a common occurrence among men. It is typically regarded as something normal and not
indicative of any kind of health condition, although it may cause psychological distress in the affected.
However, scientists have discovered positive correlations between baldness and several pathologies.
Male pattern hair loss, as it is formally known in the medical realm, affects at least 50% of men in old
age. Its causes are believed to be largely genetic. Recent studies have finally shed some light on the
genetic underpinnings of the condition, revealing several complex relationships with other diseases
and innate traits.
Shortness and baldness
According to scientists at the University of Bonn, Germany, short men are more likely to experience
hair loss prematurely. They studied the genetic material of more than 20,000 men from around the
world. Slightly less than half were bald men. After analyzing the data, the team of scientists led by
geneticists Dr. Stephanie Heilmann Heimbach and Prof. Markus Nöthen discovered that prematurely
bald men carried 60 genomic alterations. These genetic signatures meant that prematurely bald males
are more likely to undergo puberty earlier, to have small body size, and to develop several types of
cancer (including prostate cancer). Associations between bone density and light skin color were also
found. The study now published in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Book Review Of The Rhetorical Analysis Of Myth sGene
1. I was beginning to see that Phineas could get away with anything. I couldn t help envying him that
a little, which was perfectly normal. There was no harm in envying even your best friend a little. 25
Gene s inner dialogue is crucial since it gives the audience a chance to reveal his true colors.
Throughout the book, he seems to make logical excuses for his delusional actions. Technically, there
isn t harm in envying your best friend, but the way that Gene is carrying this conversation with
himself makes me believe that his logic is unstable. That in this case, there is going to be harm in
envying your best friend. This quote foreshadows that something bad will happen to their friendship.

The world, through his unleashed emotions, imprinted itself upon him, and he carries the stamp of that

moment was the war, but I believe it to be his personal resentment towards Phineas. 3. The thought

HEALTHCARE CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE 2
Abstract
The Native American culture is the original culture of the United States. Members of Native American
tribes live throughout the country. There are an estimated 4.9 million persons, in 565 federally
recognized tribes who are classified as American Indian or Alaska Native (AI/AI), alone or in
combination with one or more other designated racial classifications. This demographic group
compromises 1.6% of the U.S. population (Horowitz, 2012). Wisconsin is home to the Ho Chunk
(Winnebago), Ojibwa (Chippewa), and the Potawatomi tribes ( American , 2014). It is important for
nurses within this state, as well as any other state, to understand the Native American belief system in
order to provide a quality healthcare experience. Nurses are the primary point of contact in the
healthcare setting. Client advocacy is one of the nurse s major roles. Therefore, the nurse should have
the highest level of diversity understanding for the cultures within the local region.

guidance for keeping us in our track. The first part of the story describes what repetition and
recollection is and why it is so important. It introduces us to the dilemma of a young man who cannot
seem to understand his break up with his girlfriend, to put it simply. The second part describes how he

  • 2. The Effect Of A Trebuchet Arm Length And Counterweight... Effect of a Trebuchet Arm Length or Counterweight Mass on Projectile Distance A trebuchet is a siege weapon most commonly used in the middle ages. It uses gravity to propel an object. There are competitions held today called Pumpkin Chunkin which use trebuchets to launch pumpkins as far as possible. The common question is what the dimensions should be when making it. Should the arm be longer or shorter? Should the counterweight be heavier or lighter? These questions have been asked by competitors in trebuchet competition as well as engineers. And this is why the project is in the field of mechanical engineering. The way a Trebuchet works is that a counter weight drops which pulls the arm forward and at the point of takeoff a pin releases the object that is being projected. The counterweight drops using gravity and is attached to the arm causing it to fly up and launch the object. Engineers have had previous experience in this field because of the world wide trebuchet launching competitions. One example of engineers making this trebuchet are the engineers from team NASAW in the Pumpkin Chunkin competition. Team NASAW has a trebuchet with a heavy weight and a long arm. There arm and weight start next to each other at the beginning. The weight drops forward and like a whip the arm swings around and fires the pumpkin into the air at insane speeds. They are one of the top competitors in the competition and have proven countless times that the design works wonderfully. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These environmental issues becoming social issues when they tend to impact a large number of individuals in society. Some well known examples of this would be climate change, global warming and deforestation. These are clearly environmental issues but are also social issues because they all pose a threat to the environment of mankind. Some environmental and social issues don t seem like they would be social issues looking at it from afar but if you take the time to analyze and break it down you can see it does indeed have an impact on a large part of humans. Another positive is if there is a loss of crops in other parts of the United States, Iowa could carry the weight of those lost crops but it can also be a negative because if Iowa is one of those states that is experiencing the loss of crops then that is a big portion of the corn and soybeans being planted for that year. Another negative would be only being able to farm for a certain part of the year because you only plant two crops which could lead to less jobs and a decrease in the state of Iowa s economy. This is both an environmental and social issue because, it is about the environment and how crops can impact it but also how it can impact humans. In chapter 11 of Bell, I read about supplying water in a costa rican village. There was a small village in Costa Rica that had just put in a new water supply dam. • 5. The Decline Of The Ottoman Empire How the Decline of the Ottoman Empire Led to the Armenian Genocide Extended Essay in History Word Count: 3941 Douglas County High School Douglasville, GA, USA Examination Session: May 2016 Kiran Lakhani ABTRACT Through the investigation of the changes occurring from the first European presence in the Muslim world to the end of the Ottoman Empire, this essay attempts to answer why the Armenian genocide occurred. The Ottoman Empire started its decline when Napoleon entered Egypt in 1798. Napoleon brought along with him armies but also a new culture. The British did the same with Moghul India. The elite and people in positions of power were impressed by what the Europeans and the Americans were doing and seeing how powerful and successful they were. The Turks in the Ottoman Empire wanted the same. The Young Turks overthrew the Sultan of the time and started a reform of the Ottoman Empire to try to salvage it. The Young Turks also believed that all people regardless of religion or ethnicity deserved the same rights. The Armenians were one of the ethnicities that were in the minority. They obtained more rights when the policy was put in place. Before the Armenians received their right they were rebelling against the Ottomans. This was frightening to the majority. Massacres of the minorities, especially the Armenians started well before 1915, but the killings progressed in 1915. Many of the Armenians were deported and forced to leave their homes. In 1915 ... • 6. Genetic Engineering And The Human Existence Why is genetic engineering crucial to the human existence? Initially, genetic engineering, also called genetic modification, is the process of manually adding new unique DNA into an organism. The objective is to add one or numerous new traits that are not already constructed in that particular organism. New DNA inserts in the host genome and immediately isolates and replicates the gene of interest by using molecular cloning methods to synthesize a DNA sequence; then inserting this construct into the host organism. Genes may be removed, using a nucleus. Gene targeting is a different technique that uses homologous recombination to change an endogenous gene, and can be used to distinguish a gene, remove exons, add a gene, or introduce point ... Furthermore, it is statistically proven that genetic engineering, exclusively lengthens the life span of an organism. Healthier and longer lives would be possible, without certain diseases. This interoperates that human genetic engineering has the potential to further advance the quality of life and to provide longer life spans. Reversing some of the cellular causes for decline of the body could be possible when actions are made with genetic engineering. Moreover, it will eliminate illness and disease in an unborn child, helping the infant grow and prosper. A key benefit of genetic engineering is the prospect of supporting the treatment to illness and diseases in unborn children. With the addition of genetic screening, a fetus is enabled for treatment of the unborn. Overtime, this can impact the growing spread of diseases in future generations. Without doubt, genetic engineering has their huge benefits to mankind, however there are quite a few of cons. Human genetic engineering, does contribute to the danger list in human society. There are ethical issues that rise from the changing of natures way. Many of those opposed to human genetic engineering have their opinion based on ethical views. The fire pushed the wounded toward the riverbank, which became overcrowded, causing many of those that could be saved to drown. This was only one example of what was seen that day by the survivors. Eventually, Miss Sasaki was rescued from the factory in which she became trapped, but was then left under a makeshift shack for days on end before being rescued again. With a broken and gangrenous leg, Sasaki survives after finally being taken to a hospital. Whatever the survivors of the bombing of the city of Hiroshima experienced, the thing they share is survival. The six survivors all were changed in some way after the bombing of Hiroshima. The Effects Of The Balance Of Power The Effects of the Balance of Power Introduction In the breadth of International Relations, political theorists have been seeking a solution to maintain peace and stability among states. As conflict among states is imminent, it is impossible to fully eliminate war and aggression. However, the scope of international relations is to create an effort to minimize conflict by using communicative techniques and strategies. The best way to create diplomatic resolutions is to understand the function of the actors and their roles. The balance of power is a strategic concept that offers a feasible solution to bring about stability and harmony to conflicting states. The primary instrument that engages the prospect of war, peace, and the balance of power is the amount of actors who possess power on the international stage. There are three main systems to classify the allocation of power in the international community. The three systems include a unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar world. Many realists theorists correlate multi polar systems as destructive and problematic in causing wars. Meanwhile, it is widely agreed that bipolarity encourages stability and a unipolar world is the most ideal in maintaining peace. The objective of this paper is to analyze these three concepts of distribution of power and how it has affected the international stage after World War II. The Journey Of Cultural Practices Framework Overview Although referred to as the competing values framework the mainstay of this theory is to recognize the many dynamics aspects it takes in managerial personnel to effectively operate a financially sound organization. Although sufficient in describing the four differencing administration styles, controller, competitor, creator and the clan leader, this framework limits itself by conflicting each value as independently working against one another instead of encompassing a wraparound approach as used in Public Health, seen in (appendix A) where more fluid dynamics interplay in both the internal and external aspects of the agency providing for more client centered, population focused, community based services through well matched system approaches. Of note, not one of the four identified approaches has been proven to be more effective than another, however in totality, much like an interdisciplinary team approach to services, when incorporated equally, each skill set complements the overall goal of the agency. Effects Of Social Class On Unethical Behavior Effect of Social Class on Unethical Behavior Both social class and ethical behavior are important notions in our society today and have been for many years. Unethical behavior can be defined as behavior or actions that hurts others and are illegal or ethically questionable (Piff et al., 2012). CNN recently reported Volkswagen is being charged with deception regarding emissions of supposedly clean vehicles. They reported that for over ten years more than eleven million vehicles have been deliberately programmed to fabricate emissions of damaging pollutants under certified testing conditions (Tellado, 2015). Why are consumers so concerned and outraged at this fraud? This upsets consumers and others because they care about and find ethics and morality to be important. Morals and values are important in our society because they help direct people s lives and motivate people to take part in meaningful relationships. The research completed for his article examines not just ethical behavior but also the role social class playing in determining ethical behavior. The relationship between these to notions will examined by observing behavior at a crosswalk. Social class is defined as a circumstance established by both the material substance of social life and the individual s understanding of his or her social rank, and is a fundamental feature of how he or she interacts in the social world (Kraus et al., 2012). • 21. Education Is Not Well Defined As Well According to Labaree (1997) a public good is one where benefits are enjoyed by all the member of the community, whether or not the actually contributed to the production of this good . On the other hand, economic literature states that a good can be considered public if it is not excludable and nonrival. The first characteristic means that if an individual consume this good the other people are not excluded from consuming it. The second means that when one person consumes the amount available to other people does not reduce the quantity available for others (Varian, 1992). It is hard to set education as a public good. Because, the way we discuss education is not well defined as well. Sometimes people discuss education in country level (or as a system), in the school level or in the classroom level. Note that the concept of public good can be different in each case. For instance, in classroom level it seems difficult to accept education as a public good. If a classroom has a limited size, we are excluding people when we decide to put a group in that class. The nonrival attribute does not seem to be true in the classroom level as well. Suppose the classroom has a student that demands teacher all the time, the education available for other students in the classroom can be reduced. Nonetheless, Labaree discuss education as a system. In this case, the characteristic of a public good fits better. If policy makers decide to provide a new seat in one school, it seems that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Conard 2011). Continued research shows that this is not the case, the Aurignacian occupation in the area fits the time period of the early Aurignacian and not the proto Aurignacian sometimes referred to as the Fumanian, with its geographic focus in Mediterranean Europe (Bon 2002; Teyssandier and Liolios 2003; Bolus 2004; Conard and Bolus 2006), (Nicholas J. ... Neanderthals are thought to have lived in smaller groups and not to have reproduced as much as modern humans due to exploiting fewer resources, this would have given the Aurignacian people an easy advantage, but it is also commonly accepted that it would not have been needed. It is thought that through better use of resources and a willingness to take more resources that H.Sapiens Sapiens could have merely slowly taken over from Neanderthals by taking up all the resources for their growing population resulting in slowly starving the remaining Neanderthals. A good example of the different mindset between the two groups when it came to food is what happened to cave bears when modern humans arrived. Neanderthals and cave bears seem to have coexisted in a dynamic equilibrium with both species able to survive in the same region over long periods of time. With the arrival of modern humans this dynamic equilibrium was disturbed. Cave bear hunting was intensified and more bones show anthropogenic modifications and even direct evidence of hunting (Münzel et al. 2001; Münzel and Conard 2004b), (Nicholas J. Conard 2011). The Middle Paleolithic and Aurignacian are characterized by concentrations of burnt bone, indicating that the environment did not always contain sufficient quantities of wood for the heating and lighting needs of both populations (Nicholas J. During the middle ages, many aspects of art became important like the manuscripts that were mainly written for religious purposes. There were many manuscripts written by a Spanish king called Alfonso X the Castilian King. There was a transition in the history of Spanish art from the Romanesque to gothic art. At a point in history a lot of moors occupied a great portion of Spain and they created some beautiful architecture with a Spanish twist to it which includes the great mosque of Cordoba which has a church embedded in it. Throughout history the Spanish architecture has been shaped by the changing trends in Europe. In the start of the 12th century the gothic style was introduced which greatly influenced the styles in the buildings like the cathedral of Toledo, Burgos and Leon. The renaissance trend in Europe greatly influenced the Spanish architecture. Spanish architectures were not just about buildings they were also a means of communication. Each architecture that was created reflected the community s values, pursuits and culture. Each Spanish building erected showed the dominance of a cultural group in the community and the geographical area it was erected in showed the extent of their power and dominance. Such buildings often bore an identifying sign for example the sign of a church was different from that of a mosque. The church s sign was significantly that of a cross while that of a mosque bore that of a crescent moon and a star and it signified the significance or dominance of a religious group or cultural group in that area. The middle ages were an exciting period in the history of Spanish architecture and it was at that time there was the entrance of the moors which means Muslim in Spanish. It is typically regarded as something normal and not indicative of any kind of health condition, although it may cause psychological distress in the affected. However, scientists have discovered positive correlations between baldness and several pathologies. Male pattern hair loss, as it is formally known in the medical realm, affects at least 50% of men in old age. Its causes are believed to be largely genetic. Recent studies have finally shed some light on the genetic underpinnings of the condition, revealing several complex relationships with other diseases and innate traits. Shortness and baldness According to scientists at the University of Bonn, Germany, short men are more likely to experience hair loss prematurely. They studied the genetic material of more than 20,000 men from around the world. Slightly less than half were bald men. After analyzing the data, the team of scientists led by geneticists Dr. Stephanie Heilmann Heimbach and Prof. Markus Nöthen discovered that prematurely bald men carried 60 genomic alterations. Reading this extremely descriptive book about the torment that this young man had to go through is kind of like reading a diary entry that stemmed from a failed high school relationship. Life itself is a farce and we must live with some ethical reasoning and purpose, but sometimes we overanalyze a situation and we need God s guidance for keeping us in our track.
