Prescription Drug Abuse In California
How does the use of prescription drug influence high schoolers in California?
Introduction
Prescription drugs are influencing kids in the high schools of California, causing many negative
effects in the body of kids, unlike other cities in the U.S and Europe where the number of reported
cases are lower. In Southern California the use of prescription drugs has skyrocketed, In 2014 the
number of cases involving the prescription drug opioid, a popular pain killer, consisted of 11,638 as
opposed to 5,753 cases in 2014 according to the California Department of Public Health. The number
of cases has more than doubled in the past years and there are many programs that are being integrated
into the school that is trying to prevent the increase of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Transitioning From An Undergraduate Level Course
Transitioning from an undergraduate level course to a graduate level at Kutztown University can be
extremely overwhelming for many students. From enrolling in challenging courses that prompt
students to over succeed in materials, to professors enforcing and enabling students to perform certain
aspects and or skills can be extremely overbearing and difficult at times. Nonetheless, within each
course subject the outcomes are substantial and rewarding, for each student accomplishes a new asset
that will only supplement them in their future field of study. As for my personal learning experience
within my first semester graduate course I believe I have not only gained a sustainable amount of
information, but also a better understanding in the field of mental health counseling. In particular,
from my first semester I believe my fundamentals course not only gave me a new insight within the
field but also a hands on experience by encouraging and embarking me into the counseling process. In
fact, before entering Kutztown University Fundamental s graduate course with Dr. Arena I had very
little experience and skills within the subject of counseling. Prior to the course I only had one
undergraduate course, which looked at an introduction level to clinical psychology, and a summer job,
which entitled me as a unit counselor for a Girl Scout day camp. During these two experiences I was
able to gain a brief understanding of the certain

The Influence Of Romantic Orientalism
Of the Romantics, the ones who were vastly inspired by Romantic Orientalism were the trio of Shelley
(and through him) Byron and Keats. Romantic ideals of love and romance, permanence and
transcendence and freedom and liberation found expression through a variety of modes and motifs
such as Hellenism, Medievalism, Pastoralism and Orientalism. Initially conceived as a fanciful
exercise about passing curiosities of the East, Romantic Orientalism came to be connected with the
rise and glory of Empire and the accompanying challenges and tensions, subsequently becoming more
imaginative, academic and objective. Compared with the similar writings of the past, Romantic
Orientalism claimed to be more realistic on account of the local details it made ... Show more content

The British won the third Anglo Mysore war in 1792 and the then governor general Cornwallis signed
a treaty with Tipu Sultan whereby the Nayar community and the Nayar land which the British once
supported to maintain independence from Mysore was brought under English protection . In 1794 the
British allied with the Mopillas (Muslims) against the Nayars. Malabar whose independence was
fiercely guarded by the Nayars became the property of the crown and the company. The British
perceived that Nayars were an inherent threat to their hegemony in the region and therefore had
outlawed their right to bear weapons and banned the Nayar martial art of Kalaripayattu in 1793 itself.
Weapons were integral to the Nayar psyche and power. They were prohibited from carrying and using
them. This combined with repressive legislation led to a loss of social standing and a great loss of self
esteem among them. (Menon 2007:

Beggars Can T Be Choosers Analysis
Beggars can t be choosers. That s what I told myself. For years I ve been trying unsuccessfully to
watch films from the Coen brothers. So far, I ve managed to only catch up with their True Grit
remake, which I did not care for. Now, after scouring Netflix and TV for what seemed like ages, I
came across The Ladykillers. I knew this movie does not have a particularly upstanding reputation, as
Coen fanatics and regular moviegoers don t seem to like it. But I still need to educate myself on the
Coens. Beggars can t be choosers.
This remake of a 1955 film of the same name stars Tom Hanks as G.H. Dorr, a southern professor.
Dorr rents a room in Mississippi home of Marva Munson (Irma P. Hall), a religious old widow, on the
pretense of being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hall as the landlady is serviceable in the role, bringing a certain honesty and genuineness to the
performance. J.K. Simmons does fine in his role, too, although I would not put this performance up
with his best work by any means. Lastly, since Tzi Ma and Ryan Hurst have smaller, one note/joke
roles, Marlon Wayans does his thing as a loudmouthed, foulmouthed black punk. His shtick quickly
becomes tiresome and annoying, though, as we have seen this character type too many times for it to
provide much amusement.
Though the performances are important, the main reason I watched The Ladykillers was to begin to
get a grasp for the Coen brothers. I was intrigued by the Coens from their work in this movie. Partly
because this is only the second film of theirs I ve seen, but also partly from their ingeniousness, I
never knew what to expect from the camera. This led to a more visually exciting experience as I
leaned forward in my seat in anticipation of the Coens next

Elie Wiesel
Creative Title A time where people were forced to leave their homes and everything they had in
possession. This is something that happens to Elie Wiesel author and main character of NIGHT. Elie
and his family are from jewish descent and are dehumanized by the Germans and forced into labour
camps to work. They never knew what dangers they had ahead of them always having ignorance only
to face the consequences. To lose and to have everything only to be gone in a second never to be
returned. Throughout his journey he finds himself powerless but only to find he stills has his dignity.
He even finds his humanity for his father for the last person that was there to support him and care for
him. One important lesson Elie shows in his book is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another theme that elie shows in the book is in a terrible or even horrible situation you always need
your humanity at side. Elie meets a french girl when he was at one of his terrible times she showed
that the humanity was still in her no matter what happened. I dragged myself to my corner. I ached all
over. I felt a cool hand wiping my blood stained forehead. It was the French girl. She gave me her
mournful smile and slipped a bit of bread into my hand. She looked into my eyes. I felt that she
wanted to say something but was choked by fear. For a long moment she stayed like that, then her face
cleared and she said to me in almost perfect german: Bite your lip, little brother. . . . Don t cry. Keep
your anger and hatred for another day, for later on. The day will come, but not now. . . . Wait. grit your
teeth and wait. . . . (Wiesel #51). The significance of this quote is how she had the humanity to help
someone and make them feel better after all of it. She put him first before anyone. Her kindness and
her words showed that she still had her humanity to be there for him. She even put her life on the line
for him. She never spoke so they thought she was french but as said ...In almost perfect German... she
spoke kind words that even if a kapo heard her she would have died. For they would have punished
her. Later in the book elie would have been punished or even killed for what he had done to be with
his father. The SS officers were doing the selection: the weak, to the left; those who walked well, to
the right. My father was sent to the left. I ran after him. An SS officer shouted at my back: Come
back! I inched my way through the crowd. Several SS men rushed to find me, creating such confusion
that a number of people were able to switch over to the right among them my father and I. Still, there
were gunshots and some dead. The importance of

Discrimination and Hispanics in America
Racial discrimination commonly refers to unfair or unequal behavior upon on individuals due to their
race or ethnicity. Racism has been practiced for decades. Exerting superiority or supremacy over a
race of individuals is the attempt of racial dominance. Despite the increasing population in the United
States, Hispanic Americans find racial discrimination a reality in their lives. Migration rates have been
on a dramatic climb over the past several decades resulting in a significant growth in diversity being
experienced. The migration of the various cultural groups, including the Hispanic cultures, ... Show

Ronald Davila also points to another aspect that has caused segregation is the strong belief in family
ties. He explains that it is not uncommon for extended family members to live in the same household
which is a break from the mainstream populations (personal communication, 2010). This is a
traditional value that many attempt to hold on to despite the urbanization. It can be argued that this
traditional value can be seen as segregation as it different from the mainstream and by default causes
isolation from various neighborhoods. Language is another barrier that causes segregation. Often
newly migrated Hispanics retain their native languages. English as the official language in the United
States and teaching Spanish in elementary schools are often debated topics. I personally do not see
what is wrong with learning a second language as a child. Spanish and French were always the second
language options for me growing up and for my child. It is a great way to become diversified and
mesh with the community. There are still some who would prefer not to mesh and thus the debate
occurs. Racial redlining has many forms. An example of such is the inequality of insurance rates for
minority groups including Hispanics. In 1994, complaints

annual eruption of pumpkin recipes that seems to overshadow the coming of fall and the holiday

Mexican American Relations Improved Since The Industrial Age
IWA Mexican American Relations
Question: How have Mexican American relations improved since the industrial age and is it sufficient
enough for a functional relationship between cultures?
Introduction/Historical Perspective
After Mexico gained its independence from Spain, one of its biggest goals was for regional autonomy
politically, socially, and economically. However, its problem at the beginning of its independence in
1821 was that over 60% of its population consisted of indigenous people, all of which would integrate
poorly into the influence of the Industrial Revolution. Additionally, after the U.S. Mexican War 1846
1848 ( Mexican American War ) Mexico lost over 55% of its national territory. The Mexican
American War was the one of the most significant events of the beginnings of Mexican American
relations, and is commonly referred to as the original sin between the two nations. The conquering of
Mexico s territory was driven by American imperialism and the expanist views during the presidency
of Polk. The increased presence of Mexicans in the United States then began as this new territory they
lived on was now United States territory. However, during the railroad boom, the U.S. helped to invest
with 60% of the U.S. s total investments in Mexico being in railroads and the others into mining,
ranching, and industry, etc. While Mexico was doing better as a country economically, the U.S.
controlled most of their significant industries. Mexico allying with the U.S in

Charles I Turning Point
How far can the abdication of Charles I in 1555 be considered a key turning point in Spanish History
1474 1598?
After the abdication of Charles I in 1555, his son Philip II became King of Spain, leaving a country
that had experienced many difficulties through the last century. Events such as Civil rebellions, an
uncertain monarchy and non uniform religions had struck Spain, and various events had affected its
history. However, while the abdication was an important turning point in Spanish history, there are
various other events that also impacted it greatly. Events such as Ferdinand and Isabella establishing
themselves as Catholic Monarchs and giving Spain the front of defender of the Catholic faith, Charles

In 1525, Charles introduced an inquisition against Lutheran and Anabaptist heretics in the Netherlands

the Mediterranean, where Spanish interests were mainly threatened, he took action in 1530, but in the
end only four Spanish outposts remained on the north coast of Africa. It was wars such as these that,
while generally supported by Spain due to its religious policy, led to the financial trouble Spain
experienced in later reigns. Despite this, it shows how the Inquisition and religious policies

Faulty Hill Formation Research Paper
At the intersection of Neva Road and U.S. 36 we examined three different members, the Smoky Hill,
Fort Hayes, and Codell, which belong to two different formations, Niobrara and Benton. The Smoky
Hill and Fort Hayes belong to the Niobrara formation while Codell belongs to the Benton Formation.
In the Niobrara s Smoky Hill and Benton, Inoceramid clam (giant clam) fossils were found. These
three formations are of Late Cretaceous.
The Smoky Hill Member is mainly a calcareous mudstone, a rock outcrop that looks and behaves
mostly like mudstone, but does have some characteristics of a limestone, like fizzing. The Smoky Hill
is the youngest of the members. It is fine grained, dark to light gray, mudstone which breaks in
rectangular like shapes. Mudstones are deposited in low energy environments, like ocean floor, deltas,
or lakes.
The Fort Hayes is in the middle of the two formations, and it is mainly made up of ... Show more

This sandstone is a dark ish gray brown, medium to fine grained sandstone. This sandstone was the
most hidden of all all the members, making it seem more easily erodible. Sandstones are usually
deposited at a higher energy because as the energy level lowers the force can not longer hold the
heavier particle. So, not only is the Codell member the oldest, but it had the most energy. Sandstone
can be deposited at the beach, the shore of a lake, deltas or deserts.
The Inoceramid clams found in the Niobrara formations leads to the assumption that the mudstone and
limestone were deposited at the sea floor. Clams today are mostly found in the deep burrows of mud,
and with the principle of uniformitarianism you can deduce that those clams were also most likely
living on the sea floor. The clams living at the sea floor would be supported by the fact that the clam
fossils were found in mudstone and limestone because mudstone is usually in lower energy
environments like the sea

Fair Punishment Analysis

In the 1983 study conducted by William Samuel and Elizabeth Moulds, it was revealed that there was
an agreement among a widespread group of people on the topic of fair punishment for certain crimes.
This study was a statewide survey involving 753 residents in the state if California. All of the people
selected were 18 years and older, and were chosen randomly based on their telephone numbers. This
study was conducted by professional telephone interviewers over a period of nine days. The residents
were asked a series of questions involving different crimes and punishment options. The results

This article looked at the differing ideas of social dominance theory along with the beliefs in the
deterrence and retribution models. This study included 401 undergraduate students from the
University of California (UCLA). Over half of the participants were female, and included a diverse
make up of Asian, Hispanic, White, and Black students. The results supported the hypothesis that the
public support for harsher punishment is primarily motivated by criminal deterrence. The social
dominance theory also defends the use of severe punishment, which was justified by moral arguments.
This is a descriptive type of research since it is quantitative in nature. Since it uses statistical tools to
help assist with the interpretation of the results. It is also considered to be a cross sectional study,
considering all the data was considered at one time. The method of reasoning is deductive since the
researchers started with a theory before collecting data. The unit of analysis was the individuals
themselves. It was concluded in the article that many people choose to support more severe
punishments because of the concept from the deterrence

Essay On STEM Doesn T Stand For Men
The M in STEM Doesn t Stand for Men
Whether it peaks your interest or not there is no doubt that the STEM field plays a major role in your
society and is very important. Those four letters stand for science, technology, engineering, and math,
and they are the driving force of new discoveries and innovations that lead to new products and
processes that sustain our economy. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science
literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. However, despite the interest I have always
had for science and math, I was never introduced to the field of engineering or even knew that I could
consider a career in anything other than health services until near the end of my senior year of high
school. Growing up, I was always told to be either a doctor or lawyer. Since I knew being a lawyer
was not going to happen, I chose the health field. My mom and relatives would tell me that if I
thought becoming a doctor was too much work, I could always go into nursing or pharmacy, or do
something lighter, like accounting. My mom, like most of my aunts, does not have a college degree
due to factors that she could not control. Being from Vietnam, she was only taught life skills and how

Contemporary Issues In China Essay
The economy of China currently stand as the second largest economy in the world only beaten by that
of the United States of America. However, the Chinese GDP stands also to be rising fast up 12.4% in
dollar terms was recorded in 2013. For various other nations, such a figure would be much of a stellar
year. Example is the United States of America managed merely 3.2% in the fourth quarter of last year
compared to China which had registered 18% or more each year from 2006 to 2011 (Gough, January
19, 2016). Nonetheless, such massive growth of the nation stand widely clouded by a dark sky of
biting inequality and massive concerns of environmental dilapidation. Biting human inequality and
Environmental pollution has been for long time and continues to be a serious problem in China. These
two closely tied problems are evident mostly in education, health, economic situations, politics and the
Chinese labor which is more of Modern Slavery (Chen, 2005). Putting these to context, the themes
most relating to these Chinese contemporary issues are those of human and environment and
inequality. Consequently, this paper seeks to look at the historical roots of environmental dilapidation
and human inequality as a contemporary issue through time and across space paying attention to
China and other world destinations.

Paper 5 Anatomy/Physiology of the Special Senses (vision/auditory)
Color Perception
Visual processing in our brain cannot be done without actual vision. The anatomy of the eye is
carefully arranged with all the parts that assist our vision in an optimal way. A layer of connective
tissue called the sclera surrounds the eyeball. Underneath it is the choroid, which is rich in blood
vessels that supply the eye. Attached to this layer is the lens by cililary muscles. The lens focus light to
the retina and the amount of light entering is controlled by pupil dilation or constriction. Pupil dilation
and constriction is regulated by the iris of the eye which consist of two layers of smooth muscle layers
that contract or constrict to increase or decrease the diameter of the pupil respectively. The retina is the
inner most layer of the eye. It the main site of photoreceptors that convert light energy into electrical
energy where the information gets sent to the brain and is what we perceive as vision. (Marieb, 2014)
Two types of photoreceptors can be found in the retina, the rods and cones. Rods are mainly
responsible for scoptic vision thus mostly reactive in dim lighting. Cones are responsible for
photopicvision, which provides color under bright light conditions. When it is dark out, only the rods
are active so you see monochromatic vision. There are three types of cones S, M and L that respond to
different wavelengths. Each rod and cone contains two parts the

also recommended if you are going to be in a swampy or wooded area for any length of time. Insect
repellent containing 5 to 30 percent DEET is the most effective. Be sure to choose a DEET product
that is suited for the age of the person using it and time being spent outside. This information will be

11% since the year 2000. The reason for the increase is lack of access to antiretroviral therapy. There
is better news in Latin America: 1.7 million people are living with HIV. In 2014, there were 87,000
new infections and 41,000 deaths in that region. Western and Central Europe and North America

Sequence In Of Suchness
To write a sonnet sequence then, about life and loves in California is really to form a sub text which
clearly states that the intention of the narrative is to present a range of the diverse and possible kinds
of loves, which are possible and acceptable in a modern metropolis. Seth s sonnet sequence is
compared with Shakespeare s sonnets in the style and form it takes.
Love is not love

According to Makarand Paranjape in her book MLMA (2001) opines:
Seth s magnum opus is little more than a rechauffe of a Jane Austen novel of manners combined with
a massive social documentation of a George Eliot, with some elements of Muslim social melodrama
of popular Hindi cinema thrown in. (Paranjpe100)
Seth s third novel AEM is about the life of musicians and their emotional survival. It is a story of
music, relationships that makes the hard won harmonies of life that makes life worth living. Seth
presents the themes of idealism, communal disharmony, love and passion, marriage and family and so
on. In An Equal Music the message is similar, but the method and story deepen the treatment of
character. Here Seth has taken the early twentieth century European novel about the life of musicians
and brought it up to date, set in the contemporary world at a time when few schools in England still
teach classical music, when chamber music is losing its appeal and string quartet find it difficult to
survive. This is partly a novel about economic survival as the changes, but it is mainly

International Business- Global Chocolate Wars Between Mars...
Global Chocolate Wars between Mars and Ferrero In the field of internationalization of business,
entrepreneurs are required to think globally and have an understanding of international culture.
Entrepreneurs need the ability to understand different values, beliefs, behaviors and business strategies
of different businesses within other countries in order to be successful in internationalization of
business. Mars and Ferrero are two world leading food manufacturers, especially confectionary
products. This essay aims to analysis Mars and Ferrero in terms of internationalization and discuss
some of the key success factors that has transformed both companies into a truly international group.

Hence, a diversified business operation insulates business risk. However, despite both companies
having a well diversified product portfolio, one can observe that there are some differences between
the two in terms of their products. As mentioned above, Mars has been extending their main product
line chocolate and introducing new product lines by penetrating into new industries (e.g. drinks,
petcare, nutritious products). Moreover, Mars also penetrated into the chewing gum industry by
acquiring Wrigley in 2008, one of the leading confectionery companies in the world with a wide
product range. This acquisition, being one of the key success factors of Mars, strengthened and
diversified Mars confectionery business, as well as increased its growth potential in the chocolate, non
chocolate confectionery and gum categories. Since Wrigley has worldwide presence, this acquisition
enabled the company to expand its operations and increase its market presence. Furthermore, Wrigley
s leading position and strong brand portfolio enabled Mars to become one of the world s leading
chewing gum manufacturers. Ferrero, however, has been mainly focusing on extending their main
product line Chocolate and did not diversify their products in the same way as Mars did. Hence, based
on these observations, one can deduce that Mars is

Twelfth Night Feste
There is no great genius without a mixture of madness. Aristotle. Olivia s clown, Feste has a very
intriguing role in William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night. Throughout the play, Feste is a bold and
valiant character who continually makes daring comments towards everybody, including his mistress.
The clown s job is to be silly and crazy but in reality, Feste has the most wisdom and intelligence of
all characters. Feste is also able to delude the other characters in the play using his wit or a disguise.
Feste develops many different traits throughout the play, such as valiance, brilliance, and deceit,
resultantly his thoughts can never be predicted. First off, Feste is a fool and his job is to act wild in
order to amuse his mistress, Olivia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is able to fit the role of somebody else in order to deceive another person. While Malvolio is
innocently imprisoned in a dark room for disrespecting Olivia, Feste says, Why, it hath bay windows
transparent as barricadoes, and the clerestories toward the south north are as lustrous as ebony; and yet
compainest thou of obstruction? (4.2.37 41). This quote comes from Feste, but during this comment he
is disguised as Sir Topas, a priest. This quote is directed to Malvolio who is trapped in a dark room all
alone. Even though Malvolio is not able to see Feste, Feste dresses up as a priest anyway so he could
better fit Sir Topas role. His costume is unnecessary in the situation, so he is somewhat deluding
himself to believe he is Sir Topas in order to better deceive Malvolio. While he is speaking to
Malvolio, the room that he Malvolio is in is dark, but Feste uses his trickery to convince Malvolio that
the room is actually not dark. Sir Topas is telling Malvolio that the room he is in, is full of windows
and the room is brightly lit but Malvolio is possessed. Since the words are coming from a priest,
Malvolio believes Feste, and is convinced that he has gone mad. Consequently, Feste is truly able to

The Zun Vessel from 13 th

qualities that make them interesting and functional art pieces. These bronzes both haveintricacies
which distinguish each from the other, yet they have many similarities. These two bronzes may

The Gui vessel isdefinitely less cluttered than the Zun vessel which uses every inch of space possible
to cover the vessel in some ornamentation. The reason for this may be due to many factors. Perhaps
there was a technique the Zun culture used that the Gui culture never obtained. A close inspection of
the Gui bronze shows that there are many imperfections in the shape of the vessel which may either be
due to time, or casting technique. The Gui bronze does appear to have been cast from clay, as it takes
up the same texture of clay on the surface and the warped pieces indicate clay casting; however, this
may also be due to time. The Zun vessel, on the other hand, appears almost free of imperfections
which may indicate the techniques used were more advanced in the time of the Zun.
Perhaps the techniques used by the Zun culture were too costly and so the Gui culture adopted clay
casting or whatever technique which was used to create the Gui vessel. The culture of the Zun appears
to be more fixated on spiritualism than the Zun. This can

Antisocial Personality Disorder Analysis
People suffering from an antisocial personality disorder exhibit extreme disregard for and violation of
the rights of others (Kearney Trull, 2015, p. 296). Individuals with this disorder are often reckless and
impulsive when it comes to the safety of others and they lack remorse for the harm they inflict
(Kearney Trull, 2015, p. 296). Those suffering from this disorder seem as if they do not care if they
inflict harm to others and many with this disorder have criminal records. The questions that arises
from those suffering from this disorder is whether when they were inflicting harm upon others did
they at the time understand right from wrong and can they be held accountable for their actions? Court
systems state that in order

The Habits Of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey...
7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
When I went through professor s required book list, I recognized the book, 7 Habits of Highly
Effective People, at my first glance. I do remember that I read its Chinese version which was a present
from my grandfather almost ten years ago when I was a teenager. Shortly after feeling excited, I was a
little embarrassed because I barely remember the 7 habits. Now as an adult almost a decade later, after
finished the book, the original work, I was impressed. The immaturity made me believe that most of
the points of Covey were too obvious and trite to make sense. But now those things Covey talked
about are actually tough challenges in my life. The precondition of the Covey s theory is that a lot of
people fix the problems in a scattershot approach which will eventually lead to chaos or
disappointment for the most time. The author s answer to this is to be an effective person. People
needs to learn to solve problems from personal life, study and work with an approach based on a same
core values. The book is about how to develop the core values basically through the seven habits in
order to be a more effective person. The seven habits also help to achieve greater insights into
leadership and management in people s personal and professional life in the effective way.
The seven habits are: 1. Be proactive 2. Begin with the end in mind 3. Put first things first 4. Think
win win 5. First understand, then be understood 6.

Research Paper On Pizza Box
Blake Truxillo
Mr. Fabacher
Chemistry
15 October 2017
Science Fair Research Paper In this project a pizza box will be used to make a solar oven. In the solar
oven there will be black paint. The black paint is to see if the oven will get hotter, then if there was not
any black paint in the box. He will put different amounts of black paint in the pizza boxes to see if he
can get the box to get hotter. He will also use foil to see if he can get the heat to stay in the box longer.
He figures that the more foil he puts in the pizza box then the less black paint he will have to put in the
pizza box. He figures that the foil will hold in the heat more than just a lot of black paint would.
He will put just black paint in one box. He also will put just foil in one box. He will see which one
will get hotter within a certain time period. He will then see if he makes one with black paint and foil,
if it will get hotter than the other one that got hotter. He will have to test the pizza boxes on a hot
sunny day. He will have to test all the pizza boxes on the same day in the same heat. How will he test
the pizza boxes? He will take all three of the different boxes and put them outside at the same time, on
the same day. He will then go outside and measure the temperature in the boxes at the same time. He
will then figure out if the black paint or the foil box was hotter. He will then see if the box with both
black paint and foil is hotter.
He thinks that due to heat liking dark things

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sealed Bidding By Procurement
Procurement by public entities is guided by primary law principles of transparency, equal treatment
and non discrimination, procurement laws sets up an extensive legal framework regarding the
procurement of work, supply and service contracts. There are two main reasons for the use of specific
procedures i.e. why contracting authorities do not just negotiate or simply buy from the closest
supplier. First, it provides for more public accountability and therefore less cases of corruption
practices. Additionally, tendering procedures aim to ensure the best value for money by making it
necessary for suppliers to act highly competitive. As a result, market mechanisms will help in
facilitating the best possible practices. In situations where market mechanisms are not effective, tender
procedures might lose their effectiveness as well. If for example there is lack of competition due to
certain complexities or as a result of lower bidder interest, negotiations with just one or two suppliers
may be the most efficient manner to handle the process. Therefore, we discuss the inherent advantages
and disadvantages of sealed bidding and contracting by negotiation as procedural frameworks for
tendering.
Sealed bidding
Sealed bidding is a procurement method used when the best value is expected to result from the
selection of the lowest evaluated offer. Generally competitive sealed bidding are used to procure
supplies and services except when price is not the determinative element in the

Advantages Of Dual Citizenship
Also known as multiple citizenship or dual nationality , dual citizenship refers to one who is a legal
citizen in two different countries, at the same time. One is able to retain his or her citizenship from
their home country, and attain another citizenship at the same time. However, this is applicable only if
both countries permit dual citizenship. As a dual citizen, one can have privileges such as easy access
to multiple countries without a visa. But as a dual citizen, one has to fulfill their duties towards both
countries, such as paying tax to both countries. There are over 90 countries that grant dual citizenship,
some of them are United Kingdom, United States and Canada. Dual citizenship can occur under many
circumstances, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may cause friction between the foreigners and the native citizens, and result in serious social
problems. It will be difficult for foreigners to blend in with the native citizens; the foreigners will have
to follow the customs and ways of the natives. But problems will arise when foreigners do not engage
themselves in the country fully, and view the country as a place for them to make a living. As a
Singaporean, I feel that the local government should not allow dual citizenship. Dual citizenship can
be a wonderful thing, as one can enjoy the perks of being a citizen from all over the world. However,
citizenship is something that should not be taken for granted. Singapore is a country bounded by many
strict laws and fines. If dual citizenship is allowed, who can guarantee that Singaporeans would not
pack their bags and leave for another country, which can offer the same benefits and more freedom?
During times of war, which country, will one, defends? Which country has a higher priority? If
Singapore is plagued by disasters or economic recessions, will Singaporeans remain in Singapore or
leave with their dual citizenship? By allowing dual citizenship, the sense of loyalty towards Singapore
is reduced. Dual citizenship for Singapore could also mean that more and more foreigners will take up
residency in Singapore, and it could salvage the ageing population

The Misinterpretation Of The Mozart Effect
Often when we are curious about something, we rely on the internet, or other media, to give us the
knowledge we seek as it is filled with endless amounts of information. What we find can be enriching
and perhaps even change our lives for the better. However, there is a downside to so much access not
every single article we read on the web or every report we hear on the news will be true or accurate.
With the whole world practically being able to access media, sometimes there are misinterpretations
between sources or intentional manipulation of something that was once true. This is what happened
with the so called Mozart Effect : the claim that listening to classical (or Mozart) music would make
people smarter which spread like wildfire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We all like the easy road whether we want to admit it or not, so quick fixes appeal to us. Therefore,
when people heard of Rauscher s report, their minds convinced them to ignore the stated results from
the research and instead convinced themselves that somehow listening to classical music would all of
a sudden make you smarter. This included quick improvements as well which led people to also twist
the story because they wanted an easy and fast way to help their children become smarter without
much effort. Another possible reason why these misinterpretations developed was due to social
pressure. Someone, even if they are skeptical at first, may subconsciously flip their thoughts and go
with the crowd and believe the false stories. This seems easier than disagreeing with everyone and
would be much more convenient than to look into the issue and see if the stories were really true or

The Political Engagement Of Burma
As Burma seeks to distance itself from China, despite Burma s failed engagement on the energy front,
India may very well be destined to be the major beneficiary. Burma has been grateful that India has
focused on education, provision of technology and services, and infrastructure just as much as it has
focused on energy (Maini, 2014). With all things considered, China virtually has monopoly over
Burma s offshore gas fields. Its economic and political engagement in Burma is greater than any other
country in the world beyond comparison.
Tribal Rights Approximately 33% of Burma s population consists of tribal groups. The population
ranges from the Wa and Kachins in the North, to the Chins in the Northwest, to the Rohingya Muslims

Contrary to popular belief, the tribes are weary of Burma becoming a democracy too soon. Suu Kyi is
little more than a symbol of the wrong issue democracy first! Ethnic rights and the balance of ethnic
power are preconditions for democracy (Kaplan, 2011). The granddaughter of famous military general
Aung San, Aung San Suu Kyi, has led Burma s National League of Democracy. India has a strong
relationship with Suu Kyi, as India supported Burma s democracy leader prior to changing its policy
to engagement with the regime. Suu Kyi studied in India, won the Nehru Award for International
Peace in 1982, and her family has strong ties to Jawaharlal Nehru (Myint U, 2011). Although Suu Kyi
and the tribes are against the same military, their visions for the order are different by which a
transition to a civilian government must to occur. The major concern of the tribes is their rights
through a federation that grants them self rule. Suu Kyi specifically desires elections, with less regard
for the distinctive approach that will be necessary in order to satisfy the tribes. India and Suu Kyi have
distanced from each other, creating an opportunity for India to advocate for the tribes. The tribes may
very well look to India as a model to follow given India s own form of

I Am Thankful For My Honors Research Project
I read Paul and Palestinian Judaism in undergrad for my Honors Research project so I will include
what I understand E.P. Sanders to be claiming. I wish our assigned reading was more extensive in
order to get at the heart of his claim for covenantal nomism. Nevertheless, our assigned readings
reveals the systemic anti Judaism which is prevalent within our 19th and early 20th century
scholarship. The claim of Judaism being a works based religious system is prevalent and echoes the
Protestant critique of Roman Catholicism. It appears that segments of Christianity have alienated and
demonized those they do not understand. I am thankful for Sanders and his attempts to revert some of
Christianity s blights.
E.P. Sanders is an expert on second temple Judaism. Paul and Palestinian Judaism argues that Judaism
was not a legalistic, works based moral righteousness, but rather a faith based on the grace of their
creator God (Sanders, 32). The IV Ezra documents grasp Paul s context and a renewed understanding
of God s covenant which was given to Abraham for all of Israel. Sanders finds that the covenant is not
something that requires the earning of God s grace (Sanders, 420). It is not formulated around the fear
of never completing enough works so as to merit God s favor. Within Romans 4, Sanders argues that
Paul in his pre Christian days was not referencing boasting, because Judaism itself was not of works
righteousness (Sanders, 33). In reality, he attributes our modern negativity

Essay On Confederate Monuments
Of all the things in this world for people to fiercely debate today, 100 year old statues of dead generals
have somehow made their way into public discourse. In America, we face an interesting issue that has
been ignored for quite some time: what to do with our monuments to Confederate soldiers. There are
many reasons why I chose this topic, partly because I am already somewhat knowledgeable on the
issue, but I still have much to learn about this topic. Confederate monuments are an important debate
being held in our country right now and I intend to help explain why that is and help people to form
their own opinions based on strong arguments.
In our society today, 150 years after the Civil War, there are still a multitude of reasons to research
Confederate monuments. Recently, they have made many appearances in the news, which makes them
topical. After President Trump defended protesters at a white supremacist rally, the topic of
confederate monument removal has been particularly popular in the media. Conveniently, I think this
topic will also suit an argument essay and proposal essay easily as well. Also, I have somewhat of a
personal stake in this topic, since I grew up in Mississippi, and therefore I know what it is like to live

For example, it is undeniable that the Confederates were traitors to the United States. I will not argue
otherwise. Also, I am aware that one of the reasons that the Confederates seceded was because of their
desire to continue the practice of slavery, which has no place in America, the land of the free. On the
other side of the argument, I know that many of the most respectable men who were instrumental in
founding our country also owned slaves. If statues are removed for the reason that they portray slave
owners, then some of our most important and influential presidents could be wiped from history,
which is

  • 3. Prescription Drug Abuse In California How does the use of prescription drug influence high schoolers in California? Introduction Prescription drugs are influencing kids in the high schools of California, causing many negative effects in the body of kids, unlike other cities in the U.S and Europe where the number of reported cases are lower. In Southern California the use of prescription drugs has skyrocketed, In 2014 the number of cases involving the prescription drug opioid, a popular pain killer, consisted of 11,638 as opposed to 5,753 cases in 2014 according to the California Department of Public Health. The number of cases has more than doubled in the past years and there are many programs that are being integrated into the school that is trying to prevent the increase of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is shown that we need to monitor the situation a step farther as to take action when noticing an abuse in drug abuse in ages in high schools. Although major suppliers might be against it, as it will take away potential clients for future business, the NSDUH will have more major role in applying the problem to places, such as California. This solution will have some difficulties as it needs the approval and understanding of the medical professions, therefore by establishing a system such as the DARE program to educate doctors on the methods of monitoring clients and implementing the use of the program ... • 4. Transitioning From An Undergraduate Level Course Transitioning from an undergraduate level course to a graduate level at Kutztown University can be extremely overwhelming for many students. From enrolling in challenging courses that prompt students to over succeed in materials, to professors enforcing and enabling students to perform certain aspects and or skills can be extremely overbearing and difficult at times. Nonetheless, within each course subject the outcomes are substantial and rewarding, for each student accomplishes a new asset that will only supplement them in their future field of study. As for my personal learning experience within my first semester graduate course I believe I have not only gained a sustainable amount of information, but also a better understanding in the field of mental health counseling. In particular, from my first semester I believe my fundamentals course not only gave me a new insight within the field but also a hands on experience by encouraging and embarking me into the counseling process. In fact, before entering Kutztown University Fundamental s graduate course with Dr. Arena I had very little experience and skills within the subject of counseling. Prior to the course I only had one undergraduate course, which looked at an introduction level to clinical psychology, and a summer job, which entitled me as a unit counselor for a Girl Scout day camp. During these two experiences I was able to gain a brief understanding of the certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Influence Of Romantic Orientalism Of the Romantics, the ones who were vastly inspired by Romantic Orientalism were the trio of Shelley (and through him) Byron and Keats. Romantic ideals of love and romance, permanence and transcendence and freedom and liberation found expression through a variety of modes and motifs such as Hellenism, Medievalism, Pastoralism and Orientalism. Initially conceived as a fanciful exercise about passing curiosities of the East, Romantic Orientalism came to be connected with the rise and glory of Empire and the accompanying challenges and tensions, subsequently becoming more imaginative, academic and objective. Compared with the similar writings of the past, Romantic Orientalism claimed to be more realistic on account of the local details it made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The British won the third Anglo Mysore war in 1792 and the then governor general Cornwallis signed a treaty with Tipu Sultan whereby the Nayar community and the Nayar land which the British once supported to maintain independence from Mysore was brought under English protection . In 1794 the British allied with the Mopillas (Muslims) against the Nayars. Malabar whose independence was fiercely guarded by the Nayars became the property of the crown and the company. The British perceived that Nayars were an inherent threat to their hegemony in the region and therefore had outlawed their right to bear weapons and banned the Nayar martial art of Kalaripayattu in 1793 itself. Weapons were integral to the Nayar psyche and power. They were prohibited from carrying and using them. This combined with repressive legislation led to a loss of social standing and a great loss of self esteem among them. (Menon 2007: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Beggars Can T Be Choosers Analysis Beggars can t be choosers. That s what I told myself. For years I ve been trying unsuccessfully to watch films from the Coen brothers. So far, I ve managed to only catch up with their True Grit remake, which I did not care for. Now, after scouring Netflix and TV for what seemed like ages, I came across The Ladykillers. I knew this movie does not have a particularly upstanding reputation, as Coen fanatics and regular moviegoers don t seem to like it. But I still need to educate myself on the Coens. Beggars can t be choosers. This remake of a 1955 film of the same name stars Tom Hanks as G.H. Dorr, a southern professor. Dorr rents a room in Mississippi home of Marva Munson (Irma P. Hall), a religious old widow, on the pretense of being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hall as the landlady is serviceable in the role, bringing a certain honesty and genuineness to the performance. J.K. Simmons does fine in his role, too, although I would not put this performance up with his best work by any means. Lastly, since Tzi Ma and Ryan Hurst have smaller, one note/joke roles, Marlon Wayans does his thing as a loudmouthed, foulmouthed black punk. His shtick quickly becomes tiresome and annoying, though, as we have seen this character type too many times for it to provide much amusement. Though the performances are important, the main reason I watched The Ladykillers was to begin to get a grasp for the Coen brothers. I was intrigued by the Coens from their work in this movie. Partly because this is only the second film of theirs I ve seen, but also partly from their ingeniousness, I never knew what to expect from the camera. This led to a more visually exciting experience as I leaned forward in my seat in anticipation of the Coens next ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Elie Wiesel Creative Title A time where people were forced to leave their homes and everything they had in possession. This is something that happens to Elie Wiesel author and main character of NIGHT. Elie and his family are from jewish descent and are dehumanized by the Germans and forced into labour camps to work. They never knew what dangers they had ahead of them always having ignorance only to face the consequences. To lose and to have everything only to be gone in a second never to be returned. Throughout his journey he finds himself powerless but only to find he stills has his dignity. He even finds his humanity for his father for the last person that was there to support him and care for him. One important lesson Elie shows in his book is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another theme that elie shows in the book is in a terrible or even horrible situation you always need your humanity at side. Elie meets a french girl when he was at one of his terrible times she showed that the humanity was still in her no matter what happened. I dragged myself to my corner. I ached all over. I felt a cool hand wiping my blood stained forehead. It was the French girl. She gave me her mournful smile and slipped a bit of bread into my hand. She looked into my eyes. I felt that she wanted to say something but was choked by fear. For a long moment she stayed like that, then her face cleared and she said to me in almost perfect german: Bite your lip, little brother. . . . Don t cry. Keep your anger and hatred for another day, for later on. The day will come, but not now. . . . Wait. grit your teeth and wait. . . . (Wiesel #51). The significance of this quote is how she had the humanity to help someone and make them feel better after all of it. She put him first before anyone. Her kindness and her words showed that she still had her humanity to be there for him. She even put her life on the line for him. She never spoke so they thought she was french but as said ...In almost perfect German... she spoke kind words that even if a kapo heard her she would have died. For they would have punished her. Later in the book elie would have been punished or even killed for what he had done to be with his father. The SS officers were doing the selection: the weak, to the left; those who walked well, to the right. My father was sent to the left. I ran after him. An SS officer shouted at my back: Come back! I inched my way through the crowd. Several SS men rushed to find me, creating such confusion that a number of people were able to switch over to the right among them my father and I. Still, there were gunshots and some dead. The importance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Discrimination and Hispanics in America Discrimination and Hispanics in America SOC/120 May 20, 2012 Mary A Mc Gehee Discrimination and Hispanics in America Racial discrimination commonly refers to unfair or unequal behavior upon on individuals due to their race or ethnicity. Racism has been practiced for decades. Exerting superiority or supremacy over a race of individuals is the attempt of racial dominance. Despite the increasing population in the United States, Hispanic Americans find racial discrimination a reality in their lives. Migration rates have been on a dramatic climb over the past several decades resulting in a significant growth in diversity being experienced. The migration of the various cultural groups, including the Hispanic cultures, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ronald Davila also points to another aspect that has caused segregation is the strong belief in family ties. He explains that it is not uncommon for extended family members to live in the same household which is a break from the mainstream populations (personal communication, 2010). This is a traditional value that many attempt to hold on to despite the urbanization. It can be argued that this traditional value can be seen as segregation as it different from the mainstream and by default causes isolation from various neighborhoods. Language is another barrier that causes segregation. Often newly migrated Hispanics retain their native languages. English as the official language in the United States and teaching Spanish in elementary schools are often debated topics. I personally do not see what is wrong with learning a second language as a child. Spanish and French were always the second language options for me growing up and for my child. It is a great way to become diversified and mesh with the community. There are still some who would prefer not to mesh and thus the debate occurs. Racial redlining has many forms. An example of such is the inequality of insurance rates for minority groups including Hispanics. In 1994, complaints ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Great Pumpkin Comes Again Analysis The Great Pumpkin Comes Again! This is not a Linus fantasy sequence or a visit to the Twilight Zone. I?m referring, instead, to the annual eruption of pumpkin recipes that seems to overshadow the coming of fall and the holiday season, beginning with the eve of the Feast of All Hallows, or All Saints Day to Roman Catholics. It seems that every year the uses for this orange colored squash expands and diversifies. This year is no different. Don?t misunderstand me, I look forward to the annual visit of pumpkin donuts and muffins, courtesy of Dunkin? • 10. Mexican American Relations Improved Since The Industrial Age IWA Mexican American Relations Question: How have Mexican American relations improved since the industrial age and is it sufficient enough for a functional relationship between cultures? Introduction/Historical Perspective After Mexico gained its independence from Spain, one of its biggest goals was for regional autonomy politically, socially, and economically. However, its problem at the beginning of its independence in 1821 was that over 60% of its population consisted of indigenous people, all of which would integrate poorly into the influence of the Industrial Revolution. Additionally, after the U.S. Mexican War 1846 1848 ( Mexican American War ) Mexico lost over 55% of its national territory. The Mexican American War was the one of the most significant events of the beginnings of Mexican American relations, and is commonly referred to as the original sin between the two nations. The conquering of Mexico s territory was driven by American imperialism and the expanist views during the presidency of Polk. The increased presence of Mexicans in the United States then began as this new territory they lived on was now United States territory. However, during the railroad boom, the U.S. helped to invest with 60% of the U.S. s total investments in Mexico being in railroads and the others into mining, ranching, and industry, etc. While Mexico was doing better as a country economically, the U.S. controlled most of their significant industries. • 11. Charles I Turning Point How far can the abdication of Charles I in 1555 be considered a key turning point in Spanish History 1474 1598? After the abdication of Charles I in 1555, his son Philip II became King of Spain, leaving a country that had experienced many difficulties through the last century. Events such as Civil rebellions, an uncertain monarchy and non uniform religions had struck Spain, and various events had affected its history. However, while the abdication was an important turning point in Spanish history, there are various other events that also impacted it greatly. Events such as Ferdinand and Isabella establishing themselves as Catholic Monarchs and giving Spain the front of defender of the Catholic faith, Charles election as Holy Roman Emperor ... In 1525, Charles introduced an inquisition against Lutheran and Anabaptist heretics in the Netherlands .He campaigned against the Infidel in central and eastern Europe, a move that was supported by the Spanish people. He aimed to repel their advances in areas which threatened his rule over his lands. In the Mediterranean, where Spanish interests were mainly threatened, he took action in 1530, but in the end only four Spanish outposts remained on the north coast of Africa. It was wars such as these that, while generally supported by Spain due to its religious policy, led to the financial trouble Spain experienced in later reigns. • 12. Faulty Hill Formation Research Paper At the intersection of Neva Road and U.S. 36 we examined three different members, the Smoky Hill, Fort Hayes, and Codell, which belong to two different formations, Niobrara and Benton. The Smoky Hill and Fort Hayes belong to the Niobrara formation while Codell belongs to the Benton Formation. In the Niobrara s Smoky Hill and Benton, Inoceramid clam (giant clam) fossils were found. These three formations are of Late Cretaceous. The Smoky Hill Member is mainly a calcareous mudstone, a rock outcrop that looks and behaves mostly like mudstone, but does have some characteristics of a limestone, like fizzing. The Smoky Hill is the youngest of the members. It is fine grained, dark to light gray, mudstone which breaks in rectangular like shapes. Mudstones are deposited in low energy environments, like ocean floor, deltas, or lakes. The Fort Hayes is in the middle of the two formations, and it is mainly made up of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This sandstone is a dark ish gray brown, medium to fine grained sandstone. This sandstone was the most hidden of all all the members, making it seem more easily erodible. Sandstones are usually deposited at a higher energy because as the energy level lowers the force can not longer hold the heavier particle. So, not only is the Codell member the oldest, but it had the most energy. Sandstone can be deposited at the beach, the shore of a lake, deltas or deserts. The Inoceramid clams found in the Niobrara formations leads to the assumption that the mudstone and limestone were deposited at the sea floor. Clams today are mostly found in the deep burrows of mud, and with the principle of uniformitarianism you can deduce that those clams were also most likely living on the sea floor. The clams living at the sea floor would be supported by the fact that the clam fossils were found in mudstone and limestone because mudstone is usually in lower energy environments like the sea ... The results supported the hypothesis that the public support for harsher punishment is primarily motivated by criminal deterrence. The social dominance theory also defends the use of severe punishment, which was justified by moral arguments. This is a descriptive type of research since it is quantitative in nature. Since it uses statistical tools to help assist with the interpretation of the results. It is also considered to be a cross sectional study, considering all the data was considered at one time. The method of reasoning is deductive since the researchers started with a theory before collecting data. The unit of analysis was the individuals themselves. Those four letters stand for science, technology, engineering, and math, and they are the driving force of new discoveries and innovations that lead to new products and processes that sustain our economy. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. However, despite the interest I have always had for science and math, I was never introduced to the field of engineering or even knew that I could consider a career in anything other than health services until near the end of my senior year of high school. Growing up, I was always told to be either a doctor or lawyer. Since I knew being a lawyer was not going to happen, I chose the health field. The anatomy of the eye is carefully arranged with all the parts that assist our vision in an optimal way. A layer of connective tissue called the sclera surrounds the eyeball. Underneath it is the choroid, which is rich in blood vessels that supply the eye. Attached to this layer is the lens by cililary muscles. The lens focus light to the retina and the amount of light entering is controlled by pupil dilation or constriction. Pupil dilation and constriction is regulated by the iris of the eye which consist of two layers of smooth muscle layers that contract or constrict to increase or decrease the diameter of the pupil respectively. The retina is the inner most layer of the eye. It the main site of photoreceptors that convert light energy into electrical energy where the information gets sent to the brain and is what we perceive as vision. Cones are responsible for photopicvision, which provides color under bright light conditions. When it is dark out, only the rods are active so you see monochromatic vision. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sealed Bidding By Procurement Procurement by public entities is guided by primary law principles of transparency, equal treatment and non discrimination, procurement laws sets up an extensive legal framework regarding the procurement of work, supply and service contracts. There are two main reasons for the use of specific procedures i.e. why contracting authorities do not just negotiate or simply buy from the closest supplier. First, it provides for more public accountability and therefore less cases of corruption practices. Additionally, tendering procedures aim to ensure the best value for money by making it necessary for suppliers to act highly competitive. As a result, market mechanisms will help in facilitating the best possible practices. In situations where market mechanisms are not effective, tender procedures might lose their effectiveness as well. If for example there is lack of competition due to certain complexities or as a result of lower bidder interest, negotiations with just one or two suppliers may be the most efficient manner to handle the process. • 33. I Am Thankful For My Honors Research Project I read Paul and Palestinian Judaism in undergrad for my Honors Research project so I will include what I understand E.P. Sanders to be claiming. I wish our assigned reading was more extensive in order to get at the heart of his claim for covenantal nomism. Nevertheless, our assigned readings reveals the systemic anti Judaism which is prevalent within our 19th and early 20th century scholarship. The claim of Judaism being a works based religious system is prevalent and echoes the Protestant critique of Roman Catholicism. It appears that segments of Christianity have alienated and demonized those they do not understand. I am thankful for Sanders and his attempts to revert some of Christianity s blights. E.P. In reality, he attributes our modern negativity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In America, we face an interesting issue that has been ignored for quite some time: what to do with our monuments to Confederate soldiers. There are many reasons why I chose this topic, partly because I am already somewhat knowledgeable on the issue, but I still have much to learn about this topic. Confederate monuments are an important debate being held in our country right now and I intend to help explain why that is and help people to form their own opinions based on strong arguments. In our society today, 150 years after the Civil War, there are still a multitude of reasons to research Confederate monuments. Recently, they have made many appearances in the news, which makes them topical. After President Trump defended protesters at a white supremacist rally, the topic of confederate monument removal has been particularly popular in the media. Conveniently, I think this topic will also suit an argument essay and proposal essay easily as well. Also, I have somewhat of a personal stake in this topic, since I grew up in Mississippi, and therefore I know what it is like to live ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, it is undeniable that the Confederates were traitors to the United States. I will not argue otherwise. Also, I am aware that one of the reasons that the Confederates seceded was because of their desire to continue the practice of slavery, which has no place in America, the land of the free. On the other side of the argument, I know that many of the most respectable men who were instrumental in founding our country also owned slaves. If statues are removed for the reason that they portray slave owners, then some of our most important and influential presidents could be wiped from history, which is ...
